Beautiful. My favorite version. The speed is just right for me. I like the way it moves along, like listening to a Paul Robeson song. It seems to be at a pace of someone who likes walking in the rain. Moves along but not too fast.
Yes! And the sad thing is Erik Satie was hated by majority of his musical piers and the local critics of his time. It’s a shame because his music is unlike any other composer of his time. He truly was an innovator and of the very best an amazing phonometrician, a term he preferred to be called rather then a composer.
Satie is one of my favorite composers of all time and your performance of these timeless, beautiful, haunting Gymnopedies is excellent! You play with great mastery and emotion Paul. LOVED it :-)) ~Jackie
Paul Barton, you are awesome ! I heard that music somewhere (the 1st Gymnopédie), I loved it, and wanted to know where it was from - and just by chance, because I love your music and your videos, I got to hear it again thanks to you !! So I'm truly grateful and I'm going to study this marvelous piece !!
Well played, but too fast for my taste. Even the sheet music says, "Lent et douloureux," which means "slow and painful" French. I guess everyone's version of slow is a different tempo.
Luigi Battista .75 is even a little too fast in parts for me. the music needs to have those gaps where Satie sounds like he’s zoning out for a fraction of a second
Great job, as always, although I do believe that you went a little fast in some places. Having played these songs myself, I miss a sort of expression in some places. But who am I to tell you how to play piano :)
Please please please do a recording of Reflets dans l'eau from Debussy's Images I. You have the perfect mix of light and heavy touch to play it perfectly.
Morning pal. I Love Satie! I practiced this for months but could never get the 4 finger chords. I told my teacher, 'I'm sure you can split them with both hands' but she insisted they be done with one, hence I never finished it. Hope your well pal. Good start to the day =)
I was going to learn this piece but my teacher insisted I learn the swan first and then play this, I've always loved pieces that are slow and meaningful and when I see you play you really inspire me. Keep up the good work Paul.
It's raally not 😂. This is a piece of music by Eric Satie, learn it it's not very hard but they are lovely for background music so I can see where you get that idea from
If I heard any of these being played on my piano late at night while I'm home alone, I wouldn't even investigate I'd burn the whole apartment complex down, 2 spooky
Gymnopédie No. 1 - 0:08
Gymnopédie No. 2 - 3:12
Gymnopédie No. 3 - 5:34

God I love the French composed music in this period.

You are so right. My favorite classical songs are all French: 3Gymnopedies, 3Gnosssiennes, clair de lune, Bolero.
Paul, please do a Q&A video for your fans! We have so many questions about your life and career!

Vakkert, beroligende ,alle stykker Gymnopedi er kjempe fine, men liker det siste aller best. ❤ 🎶🎵🎹🎹 🩷🌸🍃
Thank you, Paul, for all the effort that you pour in your videos and the extreme attention that you pay to your subscribers!
Not too fast for my taste - JUST RIGHT! And COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL!!
Thank you very much for posting.
Wonderfully played! Could you please also do the Gnossiennes? :)
coming up for you ...
I like these videos all lined up for listening while I work. Incredibly peaceful.
Warm regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
This is so nostalgic, even though I don't think I've ever heard it before???
Amazingly beautiful
ThankYou
I love this piece.
Paul, this is amazing. Thank you!

It's the perfect tempo for me. Slower and music begins to collapse
You may like to set the video temp @ 0.75. That's what I have done and it sounds great.

Agreed, Satie is all about the inner feeling and even this is perfect but l cant feel the elegiatic or elevation music brings
wayyy too fast. when i saw the video was only 8 minutes long i figured there’s no way he’s gonna play all three...

Sublime!

Erik Satie is amazing, shall we wait for more pieces, like gnossienes or even Je te veux?

Get the partition and play it, why are you waiting for you teacher?
Great play
¡Thanks, Paul! ¡Thanks! :)
I could be there forever.
Sheer Bliss 😍
great playing! would you be able to play prelude op 11 no 9 by Scriabin?
So good.. I'm too early, it's 360p yet haha
Beautifully played, thank you for this. If you're going to be playing Satie, would you consider doing his Sarabandes?
0.75x guys 0:09
hi paul! Maybe a tutorial on liebesleid loves sorrow???
I dońt know of Any Better interpreter of Satie music.
I feel if you played all 3 gymnopedies without pause in between, that it would all fit together in one full piece.
5:34💖💖💖💖
What’s the pedal work for the first piece?
For some reason I felt like I heard this in a Studio Ghibli Film. Not sure which one.
😘😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It sounds like someone is beating a drum, or am I mishearing something?
I think that may be the pedal, but I could be wrong on that. There's no drums though
I believe you heard the sound of the pedal being pressed.🙂
*Play this for Peter the Elephant*
On second thought, this might be too depressing for Peter. Best for Peter is the Scott Joplin.
Anyone else here thinks this should be on Minecraft?
Minecraft songs? kk Very nice.

I'd let it continue and just listen. :D
Great play
