Good review and demo. That Solar looks pretty cool in good lighting like you have on this video. I’ve 5 Solar guitars. I love them!! I didn’t know Engl made things like this. Anyway I’ve subscribed to your channel. Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘 Cheers from NZ
@@MaxPowersTastyTones probably the S1.6 FR QOB which they are no longer offering. They’ve got a similar one with FR the FOB. Next would be another they no longer off GC1.6 T-FAB the hard tail one. I also have the E1.6 FBB my first and one Evertune guitar on my lap right now actually. An A1.6 FRC which is super slick. I got all those during the NZ covid lockdowns. My most recent one i bought November 2022 during thieir Halloween sale It’s also no longer offered but is a GC1.6 FRC. That thing is wicked!! What about you bro ? 😎🎸🤘
Tip on removing back plates without needing a screwdriver to pry it out. You can chip paint that way as I'm sure you're aware. I work on a lot of guitars so I have a suction cup. However most people don't. If I don't, I'll just take a bit of duct tape and stick it to the back and pull the cover off that way. Usually works pretty well. Only had a couple over the years that the back plate was so tight. Needed the suction cup for those. Tape usually works though.
Really? I’ve 3 Solar 1.6 guitars with FRS, my Sun Dew Gold Ibanez Pia with its Edge II or III trem and all are rock solid. The only guitar i have tuning stability with is my PRS Tremonti single cut SE. That thing is a nice guitar but I’ve blocked the tremelo with plastic bottle caps/tops as if you even stare at the tremelo it goes out of if tune 🤣😂 Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
@@PeterMoore350that’s why it goes out of tune is cuz you’re using plastic which flex’s and bends. Need to use wood or get a proper hard tail kit to block it off completely.
@@MetalheadOv666 to clarify- it went out of tune all the time before I blocked it with the bottle caps. Since my comment though I filed the nut slots down a bit because of intonation issues in the cowboy chord area and I replaced the tremolo springs with 3 fu-tone springs. Ive unblocked the tremolo again now as that’s made it more stable. Ill end up replacing the nut with a graftech one eventually. I’m sorting out some health issues first though. It’s a great guitar now. Cheers
Hello man, just watched your video. I have one question if you can answer it will be game changer for me. I want to buy one hardtailer for my strandberg NX 7. Can you tell me if when you dive in you can hear a "pock" sound when the brigde touch the hardtailer. I mean it's metal piece against metal piece so i wonder if you can hear a sound when they touch each other when you use the floyd ? Appreciate the video thank =)
@@shamoa2210 thanks for watching man! :-) I’ve never noticed a sound so far and even played gigs and rehearsals at high volume. So no worries on my end. 🤘🏻😁
I’ve had a lot of success using coins. I put a few coins (I’m using American currency, usually a few quarters and maybe a dime or nickel) in between the trem block and the body of the guitar. I then put an extra spring or two to pull down. The coins keep the bridge from going too low and the extra tension on the springs keeps the bridge pulled down and level with the body. Best thing is I can change tuning without screwing the whole thing up.
There are similarities, yes! But the differences in the installation and handling are a plus for me. ☺️ Now you got more manufactures and styles to choose from.
I absolutely love the Floyd Rose but I don't have a single one without a tremol-no and a D-Tuna. The biggest single problem I have with them are unison bends, trying to bend the G sting while bending the B string, bending one makes the other 5 strings go flat and this doesn't fix that.
@@MaxPowersTastyTones I bought a Rockinger black box which stabilizes the trem, but I haven't put it in yet. Drawback is that it's not lockable, so you can't downtune. A combination of the hardtailer and the black box would be good 😀
It's a really great product, but c'mon Engl surely you can sell them for less than £70 here in the UK. I've been using a small cupboard slide bolt for years to do the same thing, and that cost me £1.99😮

Thanks for this tip man! 🔥
Seems to be a solid product! Makes me want to try one. The tuning instability of the Floyds drives me nuts haha 😂
Same man! This one is a lifesaver for sure! 🔥

Hey awesome rig and playing. Thank you for the install video.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! Much appreciated! 🤘🏻☺️
What is the range of tuning change once engaged the blocker? Does it hold a change let's say from E standard to D sharp standard?
@@trodiofiammeggiante433 the blocker is mechanical, so it holds every tuning chance because the trem won’t do anywhere. :)

So your string stay out of tune after a unison bend? Did I unterstand that correctly?
@@MaxPowersTastyTones nah, just as I Do the bend I have to bend the second string to keep it in tune.
This is normal with Floyd's.
In the blocked position this fixes the unison bends isdue @hughjanus5518
Very cool concept. I typically hate floyds, but this is interesting
That’s exactly how I felt ^^
What annoys me about this kind of devices is the "clunk" noise of the trem block hitting it when in lock position.
@@CanalUHF Honestly I never had that sound yet. Would annoy me as well. 🫣
So you didn’t pre drill the holes, just put the screws in? I feared that this could split the wood, but obviously it seems to be ok
Yeah that‘s totally fine! ☺️
