Český ráj has always been one of my most loved places to visit. Good you pay attention to it. And not only Turnov is a nice town, but we also always pay a visit to Jičín as well, hometown of the good robber Rumcajs. Rumcajs was always one of my favorite episodes of Večerníček when staying at my grandparents.
As a former exchange student that spent a year in Turnov this has to be my favorite video from you so far. The Trosky and Vranov-Pantheon addition was extra nice because those are by far my 2 favorite castles. I reccomend a visit to the Svijany brewery and restaurant on your next visit. A pizza from Maškovka is also kind of a must when in Turnov.

Trutnov vs Turnov - they are like 60 km (70 km or 1,5 hour by car) away from each other. It is true that it is not very far, but in our small country it is quite difference :)
I visited Česky Raj 4 times during the 5 years I lived in the Czech Republic. It was my favorite hiking area. On the map, the following rock/cliff formations weren't listed: Příhrazské skály and Prachovské skály. Neither were the rock castles: Trosky and Kost. There is also a show cave in Boskov that I visited.
Been in Hrubaskalsko in december 2017. It was nice place, no other people at all and few other cool things you can find there too. Train which goes there was old Czhehoslovakian train which locomotive looked like a tractor (I hope they still have that!). Also there was bus stops with old Czhehoslovakian bus company signs!
Beautiful little city! hopefully get to visit that soon. Me and my partner went to Prague weeks ago and it has been an amazing experience! We learnt a lot from you guys and actually we did saw Janek in the city but we were too shy to approach him😄 Prague is a dream and is my favorite city💕
You guys made me nostalgic… this was (is?) my favourite area I used to visit in my youth. I’d work summer ‘brigada’ at a local railway station where I lived. For every week of work, the ‘ČSD’ would give me a free train ticket anywhere in the country. That would be four to six tickets a year, and I travelled the whole country like that, at age 16-18. Yes - different times… 😀 Český Ráj was one of my most visited areas, I even organized a traditional late spring school trip for the whole class at my high school…. A lot of memories… thank you for a beautifully made video! 👏❤️
My great grandfather came from Turnov, I never have been there as I always went to Prague as we have family there. Next time I will make time to visit Turnov and see the jewelry school he attended there😊
Love it! Thanks. Can we have a video about a campervans? If we are planning to visit with our camper, what are the rules and regulations, clean air zones? Places to see etc ...
Cimrman is actually fictional character created by Jiří Šebánek a Zdeněk Svěrák. It was joke to their plays that became so famous thoug our country and through all generations. So bacicly he is inventor that invented unuseful crap or invented something grounbreaking 5 minutes too late after someone else. He is part of many of our jokes. Like when Bell invented telephone, he already had 3 missed calls from Jára Cimrman.
I think originally the character Cimrman was created as a mockery of our pride in great "czech" personalities like Gregor Mendel (born in german speaking family, died long before czech independence) or Sigmung Freud (born in german speaking family of jewish immigrants, lived most of his life in Vienna). Cimrman was supposed to be another "czech" genius, i.e., czech father, austrian mother, born in Vienna and he has a german name with czech spelling.
Janek, how about a video on the real life locations from the video game DayZ by Bohemia Interactive, the game map is based on real life Czech locations and they look impressive.

Cant see any vid from Bohemian paradise without hearing "Ta ze skal! Ta ze skal! Ta ze skal!". And expecting to see devil and/ or mermaid behind every corner or rock in this case.
Dumplings. Its soft dought with pieces of white bread in it and steamed. It is a common Czech side dish for meals based on sauce, beacause they absorbs it well and don't overpower the taste. (Eaten by fork, not as some tourist do it by hand)
There are more types of dumplongs, these are not with bread, but with potatoes 😅 and by the way, every kid knows, that eat it with hands is much more fun (don't tell mammas 😂). ❤
@@jerswalass4172 You are right sir. They were so big that i did'nt even noticed. Potatoe dumplings are usually smaller. Also I like my Goulash with bready dumplings, so I never even though about potatoe ones here.
Yeast dumplings are made from coarse flour and yeast (of course, there are also eggs, milk, salt, broken Czech roll from the previous day). It is a yeast dough. After rising, it is made into buns and cooked. It is thrown into boiling water and cooked. Or they can also be steamed. Traditionally, ideally on a canvas. Potato dumplings have a different texture than leavened ones. It is a potato dough, meaning that there is no shortage of cooked type C potatoes (the kind that are spreadable after cooking and are good for mash). This dough is also cooked in boiling water. And then there are cottage cheese dumplings, which are often filled. Yeast dough can be used to make stuffed and steamed dumplings. And then there are the Karlovy Vary dumplings, which are the most luxurious. Don't compare dumplings to bread under any circumstances, because it will lead you to a completely different place. We actually don't eat that much classic bread with main meals. In addition, we have a different one than anywhere else in the world.
