- After 8 long months im proud to say, patch work is complete! im so happy im in actual tears, this map has gone through the ringer but we stayed strong and didn't let haters bring us down!
this map is centered around frecklewishs anger as we try to portray her as the book shows us!

I love how Birch is there with the kits when Freckle 'gets to StarClan'. Like he's helping take care of them and makes Freckle aware he's not happy with how Freckle treated them before they drowned before she's dragged to the Dark Forest.
I don't see depictions like that made very much, it's very unique!
@@jasperistired5045 Using the AshFur went to StarClan logic would mean Maple should too. "AshFur only loved too much", he attempted to kill three cats and helped get rid of one of Fire's lives. And before you go "attempting isn't the same as succeeding", yeah, technically that's correct, but the intention to murder is still there so the punishment should be the same.
This would make AshFur's count up to 4.
Maple's is only 3.
And with Maple, in a human court, probably would've been passed as "innocent due to insanity" because of her hallucinations.
I'm honestly very tired of people going "Oh AshFur went to StarClan so [blank] should've too" because if you look at some of the Dark Forest cats, they arguably weren't as bad or at the very least did similar things as he did.
We also only see the perspective of Maple in the book, so for all we know, Freckle could've been lying. Probably not, I'd like to hope she wasn't that horrible, but I don't think we'll ever actually know.
As for the author statements, sometimes people change their minds?
You could initially imagine all of them went to StarClan and then change your mind later.
You're allowed to have your own opinion on the matter, and despite my essay of a comment, I don't really care much about Freckle's fate.
My initial comment stated I loved that detail in this M.A.P. because... It's very unique. Your reply here really just feels like you trying to indirectly tell me I shouldn't feel that way? You can't really deny that that detail wasn't unique, unless you know of another project that featured that with Freckle?

@@FrostedShadow To be fair, tho, one of Mapleshade's kills was accidental. She wasn't trying to go after Appledusk, BUT- she did attempt to slaughter an innocent mother and her unborn kits (Reedshine) which is very messed up.

@@alyssabullock6421 Yeah. If we go to include that, then her count is the same as Ash's. So in my opinion it still doesn't make sense that he got into StarClan because "he only loved too much".

@@jasperistired5045 I mean Hawkfrost didn't kill anyone either and he ended up in the Dark Forest? He did manipulate others to do bad things and to kill others, but he never got his paws dirty until the very end of his life when he attacked Brambleclaw. (And in no defense to him, he was bad despite never killing anyone himself).
Blackstar killed Rosetail and Stonefur, Lionblaze killed Russetfur, many other clan cats have killed others in the heat of battle and have gone to Star Clan (or will be going to Star Clan when they pass).
If someone kills someone else, Starclan clearly shows some bias and seems to more-so judge their character and intentions then their kill counts. Ashfur didn't originally have ill intentions, he was manipulated by Hawkfrost into thinking he was doing the right thing for his friend and the future of the clans. He didn't kill the 3 or Squirrelflight and who knows if he actually would have if they were Squirrelflight's kits. It's kinda why I think it would be interesting to have a novella or super edition from his perspective to see what was actually going on in his mind at the time.
Honestly I think that Oakstar should end up in the Dark Forest just as much, if not more then Frecklewish because he's done other shady and awful things asides from letting his personal feelings get the best of his decisions that led to those kits dying. (Like seriously, he's pretty unhinged. If you look up some of his quotes, the guy literally talks about raising the kits to "avenge their father" which is... pretty messed up and even more messed up seeing as Birchface's death likely could have been an accident). But by all means,
Frecklewish is a pretty grey character. I would say that she's worse then Appledusk because her tantrum towards the kits no doubt had an affect on Oakstar's decision (after all, she is his daughter and at the time his last remaining child. If the Appledusk bias wasn't already enough, then her upset drove the nail into the coffin). She is also the reason why those kits were put into that position in the first place. It's not like Mapleshade could have safely told the truth about them at any single point without risking their lives even more... And I'm not defending Mapleshade because she is the worst, like she actively killed cats on purpose. But she was pregnant (likely heavily pregnant because she was in the nursery) when a grief stricken Frecklewish kinda just assumed and pushed onto her that her kits were her brothers with pretty much nothing except for a long pause which would normally be taken as a no to make that assumption on as far as we are aware of. If Mapleshade did say no, especially after Frecklewish already got her hopes up so much, she most likely would have been upset, pissed, and probably nosy enough to ask who the father was (which probably would have led to her getting kicked out of the clan heavily pregnant which is pretty dangerous for her and the kits).
love how a map finally showed freckles anger at maple & her kittens, thats great! but i really can't say this is the most book accurate version because i dont get why is freckle constantly being angry at maple even before the kits, especially the part where she yells at her when birchface is dead. these things were never mentioned in the novella from what i remember and we dont know maple and freckles relationship before that. but still great job to everyone for everything else! bootiful map
We belive mapleshade and birchface were friends and perhaps frecklewish was jealous of there relationship
I wrote the script so I think I could give an explanation. I view frecklewish as a very narrow minded cat..?(not sure if that’s the best way to explain it) but I think they would all be friends but frecklewish was overly protective of her brother especially after her mother died. She was a bit jealous that he was spending more time with maple than her. I had to mostly play on my interpretation for the backstory, since we get no hint of it in the Novella 😅😅she also is just of angry cat in general and we see how she gets very irrational and angry when she is grieving so she’s just like “ everyone get away from me!” When birchface first dies.

I fully believe Mapleshade’s Vengeance should have been a Super Edition that starts at Maple’s childhood! It’d clear up a lot more than the book itself expresses!

Honestly, I can see Freckle being jealous of Maple’s relationship with Birch, considering how she didn’t see the kits as anything other than his extension, not even part of Mapleshade until the reveal. (If the constant remarks about him and the disappointment in their names are any indicator)
I love Frecklewish and I also love this map. It feels like one of the very few Frecklewish maps to actually research/know a lot about her character beforehand, and it actually shows her flaws. Even as angry as I am that she somehow ended up in the Dark Forest in canon (and in this map, but yknow, the map is following canon and that's one of the main points so if anything that's a plus)
I believe that even if Mapleshade didn’t go along with the lie of Birchface being the father of the kits and just said the name of a random Thunderclan tom, Frecklewish would still be mad at Mapleshade when the truth eventually came out, But instead of her saying “You betrayed my brother’s name with your half-clan creatures!”
She’d instead say something like “You betrayed my father’s clan,You don’t deserve to be a warrior of his clan and neither do your half-clan creatures!”
That’s just what I believe would’ve happened if Birchface wasn’t the one who was assumed to be Mapleshade’s mate.
I don't think so, the anger attack was only because Mapleshade lied to her, if she said Birchface wasn't the father Frecklewish probably would still be in depression and I don't understand why would she get THAT mad.

Eu imagino que ela ficaria com raiva do mesmo jeito, já que o companheiro de mapleshade seria nada mais nada menos que o assassino de seu irmão.
Pra falar a verdade..penso na teoria de que frecklewish iria para floresta negra de uma forma ou de outra e talvez até Oakstar, caso as coisas não acontecessem como aconteceram no livro.
Por exemplo, tanto um como o outro pensavam e desejavam a vingança contra apleedusk, eu não duvido que o clã poderia entrar em algumas lutas desnecessárias em prol disto por ordem de oakstar.
Ou talvez, frecklewish acabasse por ficar igual a mapleshade, mentalmente insana e tentasse a todo custo matar apleedusk sempre q tivesse a chance.. eu acho bem feito ela ter ido pra floresta negra,pena que os outros nao foram também.. maple acabaria com todos👀

congrats on being probably the first map to show her in the Darkforest. Everyone did great!
As a little fyi, frecklewish had a cannon mom who was retconned but I added her back in for this map! Her names shinecloud and I thought her death could add mote depth to frecklewish
One thing I'll never get is people hating these cats for not lunging in and saving Maple's kits. They couldn't save Birch and Flower in those rapids, they couldn't save Maple's tiny kits either. Blame everyone or no one. Frecklewish let it consume her, she was damaged, but I do think certain other cats should have been punished not just her. It's still clear she had a narrow mind and used Maple to move on from her grief.
Now this is an amazing frecklewish map!!! I love how it doesn't try to paint her as a villain but also stays true to how she is in the book! All of the animators did a fantastic job!!

Amazing map! Maybe the best one of FRecklewish I ever saw because this one show her real colors, it show how she love her brother and family but in the same time don't put her like a innocent little baby that did not wrong in the book.
I mean, the point in the book is that every single cat with the exception of the kits and Birchface, are to blame! They just made the worst decisions, seeing for the emotion of the moment and not for reason, but the wrost part and the reason the book exists is that regardless of whether she was to blame, or whether you like her or not, Mapleshade suffered the most and Frecklewish is not innocent.
If you ask me if Frecklewish is a victim of Mapleshade omission I'll say yes, of course. Frecklewish as so desperate to ease the pain of her brother's death which only convinced herself even before the time that the kits were his, but we have to remember that Mapleshade was also desperate, like any cat in her situation, if she said at that moment that the kittens weren't from birchface, soon the clan mates would start to suspect her, just think, all the cats in the clan know each other and grew up together, it was just a matter of time, Mapleshade saw the opportunity as something sent by the starclan, which may seem unrealistic, but we are talking about starclan, which simply sends meaningless signals all the time, but make no mistake, I am not justifying her lie, just putting the facts on the table, mapleshade did this to protect her kits, as any mother would, she would lie to the 4 clans if it meant their well being, and even if this is a Horrible thing to omit, I can't blame her for wanting the best for the kits... however, everyone is to blame for what happened to the kits.
Ravenwing did the right thing telling the clan the true, this is his role as a loyal cat to his clan and i can't blame him for that, but i believe he could have had more empathy with Mapleshade babys, listen to her side and maybe defend the kittens, that's mapleshade's fault, never of the kits.
Oakstar exiled three innocent kits, I can understand his anger, he just lost his son and now he finds out that his grandchildren are actually the children of the one who were responsible for his son's death, this is hard to accept, but he has a duty as a leader, and he never should exiled the kits, even though it wasn't his son kittens, he saw these child grow up like it was, so how can he do that? How can him be so heartless? How Frecklewish could be also so heartless, she saw the kits grow up too, loved they didn't her? This kinda of feelings don't die just because they mother lied.
Frecklewish... asked her father to exile Mapleshade, which is understandable in her situation and the pain she was feeling, but it also means that she asked for the innocent kits, that her loved just some minutes before to be exiled, called them half clan creatures, attacked their mother in front of them, chased her to make sure she left as soon as possible, and her worst crime, the river scene.
I can talk hours and hours about the river scene, I can give thousand reasons why she was wrong and still having people defending her.
Just think with me, if i walk by someone who is drowning but i'm not a good swimmer i see some firefighters on the other side of the beach i just figure it's gonna be ok and i go home? If whoever is in the water is a mother with three children who were playing with me a few minutes earlier, am I just going to move on without guaranteeing that they will be rescued? Even if I happen to be unable to do anything to help, not even be able to scream to alert the firefighters that there are children drowning, shouldn't I at least stay until I know everything is okay? Because the main reason for the deaths of the kits is that mapleshade was only able to warn that they were in the river when she herself was rescued, if someone maybe had screamed warning that there were kittens in the water, they would have had a chance, but she just walked away and that in my opinion is unforgivable, I have no excuse for Frecklewish here, Regardless of whatever anger she was feeling at the time, I can't justify her.
I really wished the book had informed us that she just frozen because of the trauma of losing her brother and can't do anything to help, because at least I could justify her, but no, she didn't, she just walked away.
Appledusk, I often see maps of how he is also a poor innocent who was killed by a crazy woman, and I just can't believe it. Besides being unfaithful for him mate Reedshine, he accepted that mapleshade lied about the kits real father, what makes him also part of her lie. Blamed Mapleshade solely for the kits deaths, even though she was emotionally shaken and said she couldn't think of anywhere else, which I believe, as she had been kicked out of her clan and needed the support of her mate, who was just a river away, same river that she is used to passing often to meet him, even being a Thunderclan cat who can't swim well. Victimized himself in front of the clan, pushing all the blame into mapleshade and leaving her alone even though she just lost her clan and her child.
Reedshine, helped his traitorous companion victimize himself to the clan and had not an ounce of mercy for Mapleshade or her child, even though Mapleshade was unaware of the his betrayal. Placing appledusk as a poor angel who was seduced by the devil and for that he was wrong and mapleshade as the devil who seduced and is blamed for everything.
Darkstar, exiled Mapleshade a second time that same day, knowing she had just lost her kits, knowing she was betrayed, even though Darkstar wasn't really to blame in the kits deaths, I believe he could have shown compassion.
And last one, Mapleshade itself.
Mapleshade took advantage of a cat who had just lost her brother to keep her kittens in the clan, blindly believing that it was a sign of starclan. She did this so her kits wouldn't suffer and receive love instead of clan rejection. Anyyway that doesn't justify it, although i understand why she did it.
Mapleshade took the kits to the river, despite being warned by Appledusk that she shouldn't, however she was emotionally shaken and pursued by Frecklewish. Anyway Ravenwing said the kits swam like fishes and Mapleshade was used to going across the river to find Appledusk, I really believe she thought she it was safe. Anyway, this is her fault for going to the river of course. But what Frecklewish would be able to do to her if she decided to wait or go for another way? And please, don't tell me Frecklewish is unable to hurt mapleshade and the kits because i don't believe it.
Mapleshade tried her best to save the kits in the river but failed, she begged starclan that they were ok, she apologized to Appledusk for going by the river. And yet Appledusk has abandoned her, and she can't even see her own kittens being burried before leave the clan.
And now the crime of mapleshade, and the reason why it cannot be justified, Mapleshade, abandoned, weak and being tormented by her kits dying in nightmares, with no peace or hope or relief in her mind, dealing with the guilt of her actions alone. Even though everyone was to blame, she was the one who went through the biggest torment.
Frecklewish has the whole clan and her father.
Appledusk has him mate.
Mapleshade has nothing left.
But that don't justify her to be a serial killer and murder 3 cats. The question that makes me ask myself to this day is what was tormenting her, was it hallucinations in her own head? Was it a punishment from the starclan? All she had suffered wasn't enough? Did the souls of her kits really still have to torment her? Well it doesn't really matter now, mapleshade was consumed by rage and hate and killed 3 cats, her place is in the darkforest of that I have no doubt, but the other cats even if not innocents, they really don't deserved to die. I honestly find the book very interesting, and i really wanted to see more maps and pmv that show this as it was actually written, thank you!

My take on the canon: It feels way too scummy that she’s the only who got sent to the Dark Forest. If any one cat should’ve been sent to the Dark Forest for this mess, excluding Mapleshade because serial killing is still serial killing regardless, it should have been Oakstar (I suspect they didn’t reassign him because he was shown in Starclan during Pinestar’s Choice). Her being the only one kinda feels like the writers are only punishing the she-cat. Also, something very important I think we’ve lost sight of: the writers who say Frecklewish is in the Dark Forest are not the people who wrote Mapleshade’s Vengeance. Vicky wrote Mapleshade’s Vengeance, one of the last things she wrote for the series if I’m not mistaken, and I’m fairly certain there was a chat or an article that stated she did not believe Frecklewish was in the Dark Forest. This whole thing just seems like a mess.
The real question everyone should be asking is why Starclan set that omen to Ravenwing in the first place. Think about it: every other prophecy received in this series were events that were going to happen, regardless of the characters knowing the prophecy. This is the only one where the prophecy itself caused the events to happen (if we are to assume that it was foretelling the kits’ deaths).

I don't really love her because of what she did, but I pity her for what she had to go through. And the map complete awesome! I like this
I love frecklewish! Its nice to see a map that shows her like she is in the book instead of show her doing things she didn't actually do
Finally a map that talks about the real Frecklewish!! Many maps have been created innocent of her... as if she were the victims of history.
(Of course if you defend Frecklewish I won't try to change your opinion I respect it).
Even though Frecklewish lost her mother and brother...she had no right to do that to Mapleshade kits...calling them "Half Clan Creatures" and asking her parents to banish them from the Clan. Frecklewish may seem like the victim of the story but she is just as much to blame as Ravenwing.

I agree, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I dislike most frecklewish maps and content bc they portray her as a innocent victim who did nothing wrong, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hate when people forget all the wrongs she did. The main reason I love this map is bc It shows frecklewish’s faults and doesn’t just portray her as a victim, but also someone who has hurt others too. And I agree that while frecklewish was grieving she did not have a right to hurt the kits, her anger towards Mapleshade was justified, her anger to the kits was not.
As for ravenwing, I believe he was partly responsible for the kits death as well. He told the clan, knowing that the kits were going to suffer for it too. instead of defending the kits, and saying that they weren’t responsible for Mapleshade or appledusk’s action, he just stood by as innocent children were punished for their parent’s wrong doings. He could have done something but he didn’t, he was literally a bystander in that situation. So yeah, he wasn’t innocent either.
@@dragondguardian962 I respect your opinion and completely agree! I get very disgusted when the fandom makes a map clearing Frecklewish since she was to blame for the death of Mapleshade kits and she YES deserved to go to Dark Forest.
I hate maps that clear the victims of Mapleshade because they were to blame for their pain. Like Appledusk, he was to blame for Mapleshade's pain and abandoned her when she needed him most...and blamed her for the death of her kits on top of that. Darkstar didn't even want to hear Mapleshade's version, he just heard Appledusk's and Reedshine still exonerates him....it's even though Reedshine has nothing to do with Mapleshade's past, she was very stupid to exonerate Appledusk even after discovering his infidelity! I'm still very upset that there is fandom that exonerates Frecklewish, Ravenwing, Appledusk and Reedshine....But of course the Thunder Clan Leader was to blame... expelled three innocent kits from their territory putting them in danger because they nor had they completed 6 moons.
@@anna_studio_ofc I personally believe everyone is at fault here. I don't really think Frecklewish is really responsible for their deaths. What could she have done against the rushing river? She probably would have died the same way Birchface did. Mapleshade shouldn't have crossed the river until it calmed down. Anyways, I respect everyone's opinion ^^

I love this MAP! Different than Frecklewish being a baby xd I think I kind of like her, though I’m not excusing her actions. It’s just there’s a lot of reasons for what she did do, couldn’t or should do, (such as her potentially drowning anyways if Maple couldn’t swim, river clan cats already there, them having to use a branch, so how could Freckle save her in time when there’s running water, but then she calls them half clan creatures, attacks Mapleshade, lies by omission, but then there’s Mapleshade’s side etc)and all that stuff it’s kinda confusing but that’s what I like abt her, she’s not so straightforward as a character in my opinion. This MAP is probably the closet to how I view her, and I really love the art and character designs in this!

I love Frecklewish, and while I don't agree with her going to the dark forest at all, that's your opinion and it's beautifully made with her brother being there with the kits.
I love talking about the books and different views or interpretations of things, especially things not mentioned in the book so the reader had to fill in the blanks!
I personally consider Frecklewish just a extremely raised spoiled cat who had a huge heart with very high emotions. I more blame her father more than anything, and Ravenwing. Frecklewish is such a interesting character and this MAP for the most part shows all the scenes of her in the book BEAUTIFULLY! Putting in those interpretations of the missing parts was so well done!

Well we did try to make it as book accurate as possible so we consider it cannon

I like how frecklewish was a jerk in this map. She always hated Mapleshade even when Mapleshade tried to comfort her over her brother’s death. You also made her seem evil by purposefully not caring about watching the kittens drown. I like this take.

Finally someone who actually gets it. Frecklewish was not a good cat. My biggest problem with her going to df is the fact that ravenwing appledusk and oakstar didn't.
I'm also fond of the hc that she attacks the kits in starclan because I can see her doing that.

I personally find it unfair to send her to the DF. But I always appreciate accuracy, so if there's no changing what the Erens decided for her, I figured we'll just roll with it.
I see alot of people avoid the idea of her going to the Dark Forest, which kind of annoys me because it's an interesting concept to think about. In a tragic way.
So this MAP is refreshing 👍
I don’t think Ravenwing did anything Dark Forest worthy though: he was kinda just doing his job, even if he went about it in an asshole-ish way. Oakstar and Appledusk I very much agree on though
@@Malachaiiiiii I think a reason people believe he should've gone to the DF was because he acted so harsh.
He didn't act secret about it, instead he showed no shame in criticizing Mapleshade and telling her directly that he'd call her out and get her + her kits punished.
His lack of remorse for her _and_ her children rubs a lot of people the wrong way.
I like to imagine mapleshade was nursed and raised by frecklewish and birchface’s mother making frecklewish her foster sister because I do believe the two had a close relationship even before the kits so maybe they were raised together which makes mapleshade killing frecklewish more sad ( this is just my theories/fanfiction this is not canon)

(I kinda think she belongs there along with Ravenwing and Oakstar (i believe oakstar?? but definitely these two) for what they did) but i thought they were confirmed to go to starclan? Okay, since I’m a freckle wish hater that ending was absolutely divine. Especially that even her own brother was disappointed in her, NO ONE TREATS MAPLES KITS LIKE THAT, BURNNNN
I'm very neutral on the whole Freckle drama, but I think it's nice to see a MAP that isn't "oh poor Frecklewish :(" for once! It's nice to see interpertations of both sides IMO and this does a very good job of showing the possible other version of the story. Everyone did great!

I love how this map shows that Freckle was jealous, and how reckless she was when it came to the lives of the Kits. Everyone seems to forget that and say she's doesn't deserve the dark forest/place of no stars but I feel like it IS a good punishment for her
How about YOU remember that she had just watched two of the closest people in her lives drown,then be lied about her recently dead brother being the father of Mapleshade's kits then trying to call out for the Riverclan patrol to help them.She thought that they would be saved!Then Starclan deiced that "Hummmm...Lets give this tram riden and now disabled she-cat to the Dark forest but let APPLEDUSK,the tom who cheated on his wife and didn't even care about his kits,into the starclan!"

@@Bubblewubble956 You lack insane media literacy, and to compare Frecklewish to Appledusk is crazy. Firstly, Frecklewish and both her father Oakstar, from the moment the kits were born, planned to indoctrinate those children into being murder weapons to kill someone; they did not see them as living beings, more like extensions of birchface. Frecklewish literally gets upset when Mapleshade doesn't name one after Birchface. When the truth is found out, she calls the kits demeaning words and dehumanizes them by calling them "half-clan creatures that don't deserve to be warriors."
And not to mention the fact that she was the first to call for their exile and encouraged Oakstar to do so. She watched those kits drown and did nothing about it; she didn't even care. Nobody is saying that she needed to jump in and risk her own life. There are a million other things she could have done to help save them without endangering herself. And yet she chose to do nothing. Appledusk isn't at all comparable to her. Yes, he did care when his kits died; that was literally the way he split up with Mapleshade and why he even blamed her.
It's been shown multiple times throughout the books that he cares for his children, and he was obviously upset when they died. He literally worries about them and is horrified when Mapleshade reveals that they are in the river, and he gets upset when she says that she purposely made the kits swim across. Appledusk deserves Starclan, while Frceklewish doesn't. Cope and seethe.

I agree on almost everything with freckle but I half agree with the appledusk thing as I don’t think he didn’t care about them at all, but I do think he cared more about his reputation in riverclan then them or maple. And him cheating on reed with maple was also shitty. Him committing basically two accounts of manslaughter. (Birch and flower) is shitty but could be argued that he wasn’t fully in the wrong because it was an accident that birch fell off if he’s to be believed in saying that.
Appledusk was a shitty dude but he wasn’t really hell worthy, I don’t think freckle should be in hell if oakstar isn’t, but I could see why she was. Personally I think they both deserve limbo or some type of that, maybe walking the Earth or some thing because there isn’t really limbo in warriors.🤷

It’s just a MAP with a different viewpoint on Frecklewish and/or Mapleshade… you don’t have to agree with the whole thing or just partly agree with it…(For me, I don’t know if I agree with how Frecklewish sees Mapleshade during the Apprenticeship part, or what her reaction was to the kits drowning in that specific moment in the river scene), just be respectful about other’s views. Unfortunately, the book doesn’t give enough information, so people are entitled to their own perceptions/opinions.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a apologist map,this map mainly focuses on frecklewish and not mapleshade, This only reflects what she did in the story of Mapleshades vengeance and her life in general
Burning Ash has literally stated they aren't a Mapleshade apologist, Mapleshade isn't even their favorite, lol.
The map just shows that Frecklewish is not an innocent little baby who did absolutely no wrong.
It shows how morally gray Frecklewish is.
