I use the same technique for fault finding, as a mechanic. I generally use a pry bar and people have told me i look like a mental patient while doing it. 😆 Some sort of rubber or foam damper sounds like a good idea though. You could probably even cover the whole pump too. It's not going to overheat, given that it's pumping coolant already.
I had the BYD Atto 3 for 5 weeks whilst my EV6 was being repaired, the NVH on that thing is terrible, when the AC comes on full blast you can feel the AC pump vibrations via the brake pedal, also really noisy louder than an idling ICE car. wipers changing directions also can be felt on the brake pedal.

Don't get a tesla, but here's a video of me telling you all the crap the byd does that annoys the shit out of me ( confirmed by other reviewers ) is why i struggle to commit to the seal. Tesla software, auto steer etc is just enough to overlook its other deficiencies vs the seal, at this stage. But, still keen on the premium.
Pretty weird, the Atto’s only really make noises when they’re plugged into fast chargers. Unless it’s super vital for the charging process it could be patched in an update if you complain to BYD loud enough lol.
@TallPaulTech I believe they all do, the option under AVAS might be in the off position in the software. Unfortunately I don't have the option to switch it to off as I have an older software version so want to disconnect it physically. The sound is driving me crazy.

@@TallPaulTech BTW about Chinese EV annoying ADAS reset, it is because many Chinese EV producer applied for the EU's full car compliance certificate for facilitate with they local compliance process in the western and mid-eastern market. And EU regulation stipulated an EV must have a full ADAS setting reset every time you turn on the car. The car manufactures know it very well the user-unfriendlyness of this rule. Chinese version for the Chinese market simply don't have such silly rule. You are either turn those off permanently or just set them to vibrate. But they have to have it in order to obtain compliance and get high Euro-NCAP scores. BTW the turning signal sound I believe you can change it into regular sound somewhere in the menu.
@@TallPaulTech Yes, as far as Big corporations concern, complying with EU regulations is much more of a priority, also many Australian regulations tend to mimic US or the EU anyway. And Australian market is big enough to worth the effort. But Australia is an important market to Chinese car producers. Because Australian consumers have been neglected and abuse by major car brands(IMO). Thus less brand loyalty, which means faster adoption rate for Chinese brands. Because of the intense EV competitions inside of China, many Chinese brand must have overseas market in order to survive and grow. Therefore they must keep Australian customer's preference and requirements in mind when they develop future EV models. The recent Chinese EVs selling overseas are still mostly to cater to the domestic market when they develop the cars. A typical Chinese cities are more densely populated with completely new urban design, which means with wider (mostly straight) with newer and flatter surface and mostly square corners. So the same car if driven in China, the ADAS warnings are IMO 95% less likely to be triggered, (plus you can just turn them off). I guess what I am saying is, it takes time to know the Australian customers, the next wave will get much more better. Also there are OTA updates, I don't see any of the problem you mentioned in your channel can not be solved with an OTA update as long as local regulation permits.
My Tesla LFP RWD makes noises when I get near it in the garage in exactly the same way……fan pump whatever. So what are we on about?. Decluttering of Teslas now means BYD4ME now…….with German luxury at an affordable price on the side.
@@TallPaulTech If you can resolve the annoyances with mods, that can make all the difference in the world. Imagine if you couldn't turn the ADAS features off, some cars have crap like that. I almost sold my car due to its bad driving position (no telescoping steering column) then decided to put a steering column spacer in, so now it is acceptable. Not perfect, but good enough. As long as you can get it to an acceptable level like you did with the ADAS mod. Having to dig through those menus every time you want to go for a drive would be close to a dealbreaker for me. I guess maybe you can train yourself to do it without thinking, like a muscle memory macro or something.
