Bike Build - Mystery Columbus Fixed Gear

- Fixed Gear Bike Build of this 'mystery' frame, Columbus Thron tubing with some nice lug work. Have been told it was custom made by a frame builder in Taiwan but if any of you guys know who might of built it that would be awesome to know.

Calvin Christoph id say the person was likely building a derby car that was meant to be like that. Everything is in context. I’d say front brakes can be a preference on a bike vs a two ton death machine. We learned to ride as kids on fixed gear bikes lol
@@Ryanpeech tru. if you're gonna ride that on the roads, gotta have front brakes though. imagine if OP set it to single speed and forgot it had no brakes 😆

I mainly ride in the city, but I have a mountain bike because i like to ride off road sometimes, should i sell it to build a single speed bike that will suit most of my riding? In the long term i could buy a mtb to have along the single speed, but in the short term all i really do is gravel riding at best. So basically I'm just looking for a direction to go in with the type of bike i should have for now (pretty tight budget outside of what I could earn from selling my mountain bike). -sorry for the semi broken English ❤
If your mainly riding in the city I think you'll benefit a lot with riding a single speed. If you get one with wide clearances so you can fit 35c + you'll be sweet off road too. Im currently riding a Surly Steamroller with 38c tyres, sweet as in the city and mint through the trails and its easy enough to swap them out for 25c tyres if your mainly riding city. Converting an old steel road bike to single speed can be a really cheap option too that might allow you to keep your mtb, depending your budget obviously

how do i stop my pedals front hitting the front wheel? shorter crank, new fork, or smaller tire(28c to 25c)?
Either of those option will help. What length crank are you running? Some frames naturally have toe overlap
@@waveywheelies 52cm frame fixed, 175mm crankset, 700c 28. I think my fork bent because I never had the pedal hit the tire when turning. I'd only have hit the tip of my shoes a little before, but now I fear I could crash if I don't time pedal strokes when I turn lol

Not sure I’ve actually seen 162.5 before. Shortest generally is 165. But if you can get 162.5 I don’t see why they’d be bad. And yeah I would check your Forks first 👍

Its a track style stem, so most track quill stems will be this angle. Like Nitto

Most bike specific grease will be good bro, the stuff I use isn’t super special, there’s loads of different greases out there

No clear markings on the stem unfortunately, but it’s a relatively new style pista/track stem
