Antisocial....that's what LOSERS say when they can't get laid. SMH. Vancouverites are fairly friendly when you actually speak to them in a human way but don't be an intrusive dickhead about it.
Man, you were SO right! After 7 months here, I'm moving back to Toronto. In Toronto I was happy, but Vancouver is a horrible place! You didn't tell me that the rain last 6 fucking months! And when it's not raining is covered by clouds. You never get to see the sun! The ghetto on Hasting is the most awful place in Canada and make me think I'm back in my country instead of being in the Canada I love. This is also a small city, there are no stores, only restaurants for tourist! Awful place to live.
Don't move to Calgary - just sayin. Calgary is a combination of boring meets shitty people. No matter how bad you think you have it in a given city, there is always another place that may just shock you.
Vancouver is NOT a hockey city!! - If you've been to ANY other city in Canada you'll realize that very few people care about hockey here in Van. If the canucks aren't playing at home that day, you won't see a single person wearing a Canucks jersey. And once the regular NHL season is over (as canucks rarely ever make the playoffs) nobody is wearing canucks gear. Go to Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia etc, you'll see people wearing their hockey jerseys all year round, as in real Canadian cities hockey is 365 days a year. There are no days off from hockey. It also doesn't snow here, so there's no outdoor rinks. Other than Rogers Place, Pacific Coliseum, and UBC's Thunderbird rink where pros play, there's only like 2 or 3 rinks where regular people can actually play hockey. Go to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal etc, there's outdoor rinks EVERYWHERE!! plus indoor rinks EVERYWHERE!!
I’ll be visiting Vancouver this year, from Houston, Texas I’m hating already that damn tax lol here in Texas, we pay 8.25% federal tax (no city or state tax)
Thanks for the info. I'm planning to move to Vancouver next year and I love almost all the things you hate haha. I love to work at the office when it;s raining or snowing, I love to eat at home, I never go to restaurants and I like to get the things done but with no rush. So, the PERFECT city for me!
Vancouver has become a larger city. Large cities in the world do not have a "community feel" like small towns or countryside. Adapt to the change, ppl.
Although it's raining most of the time, it isn't as cold as other parts of Canada which is one of the reasons why there are a lot of homeless people who actually migrate from other parts of Canada to Vancouver. I agree though that hockey can be a big thing and the cost of living is way too much.
Now Im watching several clips of ur video and Im totally agree with your opinions!! Lol And i realized that i don think i can get a good job in Vancouver after getting my degree here because the city is too small(?)i guess..
This video was very...bright =)))) I had to turn down the brightness of my screen =)) Anyway, gotta say really nice video. Learned a WHOLE lot about Vancouver. Canada in my opinion is like...somewhat mysterious. It's right beside the US but..i barely know anything about it. I have relatives there but..i still don't know what there really is in Canada. I like how your videos are well planned out. You don't "um" in between. You have a script so you don't need to make any cuts in your video.
I know what you mean about Seoul and the hustle and bustle. Here in East Van where I live, there's nothing in my area at night, you can go out walk around and not see anyone in winter, and the dark wintery nights last from October to April.
True, nightlife is pretty minimal - no one in parks after dark, bars shut down early, lack of social fabric, courtesy and witty banter etc. A lot of areas of the city now look so homogeneous - a lot of East Van still looks like a normal city...for now. Though it looks like it is slowly becoming gentrified by a bunch of bland condos (that are not designed for any type of human enjoyment of any kind) that will either sit empty or be exorbitantly expensive. It's too bad that a city that is so visually pleasing can be such a bummer. Did this guy forget to mention the driving situation ?
Ha! So 14% VAT and 10% makes it expensive to eat in Vancouver? Well, here in Stockholm, like all of Sweden we suffer 25% VAT. I got you beat even before adding any tip.
Tja Micke! I lived in Stockholm for 5 years and now for the past year and a half in Vancouver. Let me tell you I am crying every day for Stockholm i love it so much. Fuck this city.
My partner and I just moved to Vancouver from Toronto and we absolutely love it. People who complain about Vancouver have obviously not lived anywhere else in the world.
well, I think you don"t have to made any video about Vancouver Because you don"t like Vancouver. Why don"t you go back to your home town and may be you will be a happy man . And love yourself again. Be happy young man.
how about fastfood chains? I mean, i know aren't any waiters there so..i'm guessing no need to tip there right? Don't you guys just..hangout there when you're tight on budget and don't wanna stay at home?
There's more. It USED TO BE one of the best cities in Canada. Shit happened. A unique city that started off with a barrel of whisky, a man with a dream and some settlers eager to work and get drunk. Alot has changed over the years and sadly Vancouver has lost it's cool. Thee most awful thing about Vancouver is that as of 2012 it became VANUCLEAR. It currently shows how it's effected the plants and the people. All the people that enjoyed the good days have become disenchanted and annoyed with all the new people that came in and made it suck. It's lost alot of soul and has become overpopulated with rich self centered people and homeless/drug addicts. I have met quite a few Vancouverites that made the Exodus to the Okanagan Valley. They talk about it like it's one of the best decisions they ever made. People that are following their intuition move out of Vancouver. It's not the same and it's not safe. It is absolutely at risk of being flooded as well. Enjoy it while you can. You will only have 2-3 days to evacuate. Best of luck to everyone enduring the new Vancouver.
I see so many negative comments about the city of vancouver. But whatever it is, yoy people of developed nations are over rating your problems. Just live for once in a less developed 3rd world country city then you will realize the blessings.
As an Asian person in Vancouver, property is crazy expensive, rent is ridiculous. Fortunately I live with my parents. Luckily I don't need a car there. Transit is good. I am 20 and straight up cheap although I have a good job at a car dealership. Save 95% and put money in TFSA. I avoid eating out. People always blaming rich Mainland Chinese millionaires for the price right. 50% correct. I think I should go to Miami despite my family's guilt trip.
Sales tax is everywhere. You dont pay tax on water or food. ( you do for junkj food) Tipping in any North American city is normal Theft is in any city. Use the correct lock and think about where you leave it. I don't like hockey but so what? Sports are again in any North American city. Jobs... same thing. Sarcasm, so... Racism, you haven't been to a racist town. Vancouver is extremely multicultural. Yes a few aholes but generally good. Slow walking? What the f is this about? Buddy, you haven't travelled much Im sure. Your complaints are lame. Get out and see the real world.
massive chinese migration has destroyed Vancouver which is why Canadians have been pouring out of the city for the past 10 years. There's hardly any Canadians left in Vancouver.
Number one... antisocial. More depressing than the rain.
People say that about GTA, I am surprised to hear that about Vancouver.
I'm actually shocked that people think Vancouverites are anti-social. I just moved here and everyone has been so polite and easy to be-friend.
@@WeThe6ix People in Vancouver view their city differently than outsiders see it and they are not always open to outsiders. It can be very cliquish.

dang chill its not that bad lol
This video is 6 years old, but i guess the cost thing can now be attributed even to Toronto. Tax is high are so are the prices.

I would rather have rain than snow, because the rain goes away quicker after it stops.
I’ll be visiting Vancouver this year, from Houston, Texas

6 years later - where do you live now? I grew up in Vancouver - I'm still here - and OMG, this place has gotten worse since 1986 expo
9:37, that looks like a root beer lollypop. LOL
Vancouver has become a larger city. Large cities in the world do not have a "community feel" like small towns or countryside. Adapt to the change, ppl.
you forget to mention car theives in Burnaby. Ppl are so poor they can't even pay strippers properly. I saw a DJ tipping a stripper.

Hi
Still wondering if you feel the same way 8 years later

I agree with you. Been there so yeah I know alot of things that you talked about. Gotta say Vancouver and Toronto aren't much different.
Thanks Justin for the heart icon, at least I know you read it and took note
Ha!

Well, here in Stockholm, like all of Sweden we suffer 25% VAT.

in India, you give 18% GST tax on everything you buy!! and other taxes are extra like income tax, toll taxes etc..

@@prateekbhardwaj9943 True, in India indirect taxes are high, still you won't get what you pay for due to corruption.
u r correct ..there's always bad and good things for every city cheers
Sales tax is a little odd lol. Sales tax is over 10% across all of Canada. Maybe Americans may find it odd.
i dunno.. i've lived here all my life and all i do is eat out
tax is an across Canada thing
There.... Toronto has 13% tax anyways..Not that much better lol
these comments tell me that Vancouver is a town for depression patients

sorry about the video quality folks.. i'll try to make a better version just for u ^^
