Rome II was my 2nd total war game. It was very fun researching what their historical legions would looked like. And them mimicing them in game no matter what. That alone and changing how I battled as reforms and the like happened is golden in my memory. Those weeks of research and gameplay will always be peak total war for me.
Should've shown Greek/Hellenic factions in the combat bit because those units are updated to new standards with much better models and gear variations within units, Roman units are supposed to get their overhaul in the next major update.
Some people say it's too big, but for me the campaign map experience in this mod is the best of ANY Total War. It's so much fun, and stuff like conquering Sicily or Gaul or whatever requires planning and logistics.
Fun to see more people discover the mod. Neither Carthage or Rome has actually been redone yet, only the greek world has gotten new remastered units. The other factions are using units from old mods until they get remastered.
Ahh nice thanks for that info I haven’t really played the remastered even though I bought it day one bc I knew the mods would eventually bring me back in 😊
@@agonsfitness7308 It was updated 41 days ago. That’s pretty recent. Either way it has nothing to do with my original comment. No where does the claim “today” appear which is what the original commenter was disparaging.
Considering how bad CA are at making Total War games now we'll probably get a Remaster for every title before a full historical title comes our way, most likely Med 2 next year i think.
They really need to bring back the population, settlment, and character mechanics of the older games. The old recruitment system with a more realistic version of reinforcement would be good too.
Looks like a nightmare to dominate and settle large swathes of land. Public order food, upgrading yikes.... unless im missing something it just seems big for bigs sake ?
You can auto-manage taxes/building/recruitment I've had Empires with 300/400 regions and i don't have an issue manually doing these things. But if you're uploading a campaign i would probably auto manage.
It’s also not likely you’ll do a campaign where you are conquering a whole lot more than what you would in a vanilla WC, for example a vanilla WC is 99 regions. If you play one of the smaller remastered Greek factions getting to 100 regions will feel like a whole campaign fighting Greeks Thracians and Anatolians. Obviously you can carry on then but it’s likely you’ll be satisfied with your Greek hegemon campaign 😊
@@emrecanarduc4378 Wrong. There is a new tool that can edit maps of every CA game since Rome 2. An example is the Dawnless Days mod for Attila that is using the new tool etc.

I couldn't stand the turn end phase where it takes 2 minutes for the AI to do their turn I did everything they said to do, like turning off Settlement label, low sky graphics etc. and still the end turn phase took forever
Only reason there's so many "unplayable" factions is because the faction select screen cannot handle more. No doubt there will be lots of sub mods that turn on/off various faction groops
30-40km is a wild estimate. Not only were they marching with up to 50-60kg of gear (battle gear and camping gear), but they also had to set up camp and make food every day (while there was still sunlight). Actual marching time was maybe 6 hours in the summer, maximum 9 hours. There is no chance that you're marching 7km/hour all day every day in the early campaign. Standard marching distance was roughly 7-15km on unpaved trails, down to 5km in bad weather. Imperial roads allowed for standard marches of 25-35 km, and over 40km on the best maintained roads, but these were not common until very late in the game, and were not ever available on the outskirts of the empire
They work. Aka you play your turn and then you pass on the save to your friend and they play theirs. You can't fight each other though.@@Johannes_Piotr
Ptolemaic faction has a civil war script where Native Egyptian faction can emerge, saw it happen today during my Rome playthrough, so even the AI can trigger it. This map is bigger than both those combined !
