I didn’t realize that Big Boy is that old. There was one down the street from us when we lived in Columbus, OH. Our niece is a manager of the one in our town.
Been catching up on your videos, my husband and I both laughed out loud about Ronald McDonald on hard times😂we didn’t realize the main liner had the history of Frisch in it. Thanks for the video.
Ronald McDonald on hard times....was thinking more of Archie after a long night of partying. Who would have thought to keep the Frisch's/Shoneys comic books. Take care....food looked great.
Bobs Big boy was made by my dad Bill Swan along with many other iconic fiberglass statues which can be seen in Amazon short book called "The man behind the mufflerman "for just 14.99.
I work for Blanche Frisch she used to live in Palm Springs California for many years and go back to Cincinnati a month or two out of the year for functions very high class woman her last name was in Frisch I forget what her married name was but she was her daughter of frisch
I’ll never forget her it was around 1994 she had a beautiful home around the corner from Kirk Douglas she gave us frozen chillie in the bags from Cincinnati Also I’ll never forget her earrings they were small gold big boy man just like the frisch big boy she was tuff But extremely fair
I think I found the video you were talking about. Looks like Big Boy did have quite an evolution not a static icon. Kind of like Mickey Mouse changing over the years.
the big boy was invented in the 20s and the only thing connecting these two is marketing and tradmarks because the other has red rellish instead of tarter sauce
Bob's Big Boy originated in California, then Frisch's became the Big Boy franchisee for most of Ohio based in Cincinnati. Bob's used red relish and mayo on their burger whereas Frisch's developed a famous tartar sauce. Shoney's, Elby's, Elias, and later some Bob's would use a 1000 Island type sauce. Most Frisch's have the East coast statue outside the restaurant, whereas some others may use the more iconic West cast statue used by Bob's and the other franchisees.
