Way to cast grocery outlets in negative light. Grocery outlets have plenty of healthy, non-tampered (are you serious) food and no, farmers market prices are not "fair", they are rather high.
Aldi has been my main go to the last 3 years. I used to spend 80% at Walmart for groceries and 20% at Aldi. Now its 80% at Aldi, 20% at 3-4 other local grocers.
Still waiting for Aldi to enter the market where I am... We have No Frills which is a Canadian knock off owned by the largest grocery empire in the nation and the prices still suck...
We have these in WA state. They have good deals, but the product selection varies, so you usually have to go to another bigger retailer for specific things they don't have.
That's what I figured. As long as you enjoy simple, mainstream foods like white bread and jam, you're probably going to save a ton of cash... Looking for Tahini and Bun Cha bowls? Not so much...
The other two Grocery Outlets in Ohio will be both in the Cleveland area, in Cleveland Heights (Cedar and Fairmount), and in Brooklyn (Ridge Park Square.) Both are supposed to be opening sometime next year.
I think it's great to see somebody give these greedy corporate pukes in the grocery business a run for the money.BUT, what I would like to know is What Is The Expiration Date on some of these items? If the product already has a short shelf life because it's been sitting in the warehouse for a while, then I say buyer beware. If everything in these stores have about the same shelf life as the products in the big chain stores, then this guy is really showing the world how established grocery stores are ripping people of with no mercy. A HAPPY CUSTOMER IS A RETURN CUSTOMER!
Smaller packaging on better brand products and most of the food is processed. Those are lower cost items as a whole. Costco is still the cheapest price for good (average mark up on food is 8% to a max of 15% over what they buy it for). I can assure you this store has a higher mark up.
There is no "expiration" date on many items. It is a "best if purchased by" or "best if used by" date and there's been news reports (finally) advising that foods are good past these dates. The "best if used by" date is just the date that the manufacturer will back up the quality of their product. It is still good to use, well past that date. And many items are well within the stamped dates.
They are really cheap. Worth the visit. Especially if you have a large family. I've also seen items that I've never seen before. The problem is once its gone its gone. Like Aldi, no guarantee that item will be back. Stock up. Cheaper than Walmart even. They sell name brand products that you will recognize. Hopefully they grow and stay strong.
Yes, you are correct, don't expect to see the same items all the time. That's how they get low prices, by purchasing what is available from their suppliers and it can be a mixed bag. That's why I buy things that I don't need on that day but don't want to take a chance on the item not being there the next time I go to BB's Grocery Outlet. I try to plan ahead, to get the savings.
We have a couple "Grocery Outlets" (formerly known as Amanda's Grocery Outlet) here in central PA. While they do offer savings, we also have other grocery outlets that have even lower prices. Aldi's and Sharp Shopper are good but where I shop weekly is BB's Grocery Outlet, an Amish and English run outlet chain (4 stores in PA) that have the lowest prices of anyone. You have to see it to believe it. I rarely buy anything at the regular grocery stores.
A lot of the product is in smaller packages. Which makes it hard to compare. Ounce for ounce it is almost always cheaper at Costco. I got a 30 OZ bag of Doritos for 4.49 at Costco. Krusteaz pancake mix for 6.99 for 10lbs at Costco.
The packages are the same size as in the regular stores. They are the same brands. Maybe you are confusing this place with Trader Joes who sells their own foods, in their own packaging and they are not an outlet. Or Aldi's who sells their own products in their own packages but still decently priced. I shop at BB's Grocery Outlet. They are Amish & English owned and operated, at least four stores in PA. Examples: I get a full size can of Progresso soup for $1.00; a large box of 3 ply Kleenex for $1.00. It might have a dent in the box but I don't care. Any tomato product (diced, sauce, paste, etc) 40 cents a can. Campbell's soup 75 cents a can. 75 cents for a small can of albacore tuna (name brands); $1.25 a can for the large can of name brand tuna. $1.25 bag for Lindt choc truffles. $1.25 a jar of name brand peanut butter. $3.00 a box of 12 Keurig k cups. a box of 10 k cups (coffee or tea, hot choc) is $2.50 (they price them at 25 cents a cup so the number of k cups in each box affects the price.) Ben and Jerry's ice cream, 99 cents a pint. Yasso greek yogurt popsicles 99 cents a box. They always have a variety of half gallon Turkey Hill ice cream $1.99. 3oz Fancy Feast cat food 3 for $1.00; cat treats and dog treats; dry pet food priced at either 50 cents a pound or if it's Blue Buffalo and those elite brands, it's priced at $1 a pound on the bag. They have a refrigerated and a frozen section with meat, vegetables, desserts, dairy items and a fresh produce area. Some local produce is sold, when in season, for very low prices. I don't buy anything anywhere else until I've shopped at BB's.
Are they able to offer brand names for significantly less because of bulk buying or because they are not price gouging the consumer to achieve like-minded transformational dietary goals as outlined in the PDF WBCSD Food and Agricultural Roadmap Healthy and Sustainable Diets that calls for business to take action in dramatically changing our diets through business policy?
@@davewilson7602 Grocery Outlet does not sell their own products; they sell brand names and off brand names, like any outlet, so just like a regular store, you need to read the manufacturer's ingredient list if you want to avoid certain ingredients. Grocery Outlet does not control that.
They have them as well as a butcher on site. We have a new one in Tennessee and they are cheaper than Walmart. Like Aldi, once an item is gone its gone. No guarantee it will be back. Name brands. Shop well.
Same concept as a Super Walmart. Soon These Super Grocery stores will have Robots filling the aisles to cut costs. You wanna save stay home grow your own veggies.
It is absolutely not the same as a Walmart Superstore. Walmart may lower their prices somewhat, below their competitors, but they are absolutely not even close to being an "outlet".
Grow your own. Rent an allotment/garden. Swap/trade/share with other growers. Shop Farmers markets. Bulk buy at discount. Cook from scratch. Can/freeze.. Most of all, avoid standing in line for hours, in all weather, in exchange for cheap, poor quality produce & a really annoying "Woo Hoo"..😒
All fine and good. But when suppliers quit selling to you because your lower than their other buyers you won't get anything from them. But this guy prices aren't that lower. 40% to 50% lower than the highest price store.
My wife went to the location where we live here in California and she bought a bag of 2 lb cutie oranges for $2.99. You would think that's a good price if you looked up those particular oranges, put these oranges were so unbelievably small they were actually smaller than a ping pong ball.. that is ridiculous to sell a product like that for almost $3. I remember Grocery Outlet used to have a really good products and they were definitely worth the prices they were selling but somehow they've gone the route like everyone else and same price but lower quality. We do most of shopping at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Grocery Store and smart and final also Stater Brothers Supermarket here in California
It shows the wealth gap in the USA. In Seattle, Washington there's million-dollar boats cruising the waterways. Some houses are $1 to $3 million dollars. In Eastgate, Ohio... they try to buy the cheapest foods.
I keep track of monthly grocery costs. In 2019 we spent about $450 a month. In 2023 we spend $1200. Household income of $250,000. I'd wait in line to save money because these costs have become insane
There's only a long line because they just opened and people are EXCITED TO SAVE MONEY. The lines will die down eventually. There's long lines at any new business, even the pricier places, because IT"S NEW.

Take advantage of your local farmers market. Healthy non tampered with real food for fair prices.
