The European version, the A700-WE is plastic and the international version the A700-W has mineral glass.

I think it looks amazing. Straight out of the early '80s only slightly more refined. Similar looking watches back then often had more features though, because people didn't really have cell phones.

Looks really good with the F91W band. It makes me like the darker version even more.
One more thing: i think you have a right strategy for your channel : keep going with presenting budget watches. Every fool with money can show premium watches, but not everybody can pick budget watches, that are beautiful, reliable and fancy. This makes your channel interesting and the A700 is a good example for a successful cherry-picking :)
You're absolutely right. I hope he will never compromise on his honesty. That's another point that make his reviews special.
@@bartok75 I think, most people in our world don't have enough money to buy watches, that cost much more than 100$. Even 100$ is a lot money for most parts of Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. So, it makes more sense IMHO to present mostly cheap but in the same time good watches. This would be an honest, but also an efficient channel strategy. An interesting point is that, there are a lot of stuff, that costs not much, but is very reliable, well built and looks good, so that actually u don't have to spend a lot of money for good things if you have a little bit of a critical mindset.
@@quiaudet3298 I couldn't agree more. Adding to that, those luxury watches are extremely overpriced. Sure, they are high-class watches...Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and what not...but most of the price goes for the brand name. Even if I could afford it I wouldn't wear it, because it means I need status symbols to lift up my self-esteem. Because that's what it is essentially for most people, a status symbol. If I want beauty, elegance, I can find that in watches that cost a fraction of those luxury watches.
@@bartok75 Exactly, the premium brands are abnormally overpriced. I suppose something like a Rolex may have production costs of only 200-300$. Premium brands just make business on naive people with primitve consumption desires. Anyway, it's a way of the capitalism at first to develop those irrational and primitive consumption desires and then to parasitize on them. You are right, IMHO most people, that are buying premium watches do that for a status representation.

Excellent review. Agree on everything - was planning on buying the blue and don't really like the look that much of the grey's mesh strap either - but I can't stand hair-pulling, so grey it is. (Like the blue+rubber strap; too lazy to do ..)
I own this particular watch. I watched your review in order to compare to my own experiences. God damn it, the GAP is also something that bothers me. :) I also noticed how easy it is to scratch the watch. I don't know where I got it but I scratched it within the first few days of wearing it. But my biggest complaint is the size. I really wished the case was two or three mm bigger. Otherwise it is an incredibly pure, simple, elegant, and comfortable watch, especially with the bracelet. One huge selling point for me was actually the bracelet which reminded me of 70's LED watches. I have no complaints about the bracelet. Very very comfortable to wear, no pinching of hair.
I have the grey watch on the segmented strap; I believe that is the best of both worlds!
Casio, PLEASE offer us versions of your LCD watches with stainless steel cases and fitted with sapphire glass !!!!!!
Just got mine. I thought it was similar to my A1000 upon ordering but is so small in comparison, which is fine. I have 10 or so Casios and this is a beauty. No arm hair issues lol

The idea with changing the metal bracelet to the plastic black one is interesting! I have to try it too :)
wont be easy, you have to have a very thin pins as those original ones from A700 wont fit into f91 strap holes.
The idea of removing the chrome coated case off that beautifully designed stainless steel bracelette to stick it on a black plastic one horrifies me l see the watch and the 70’s styled bracelette are all one statement it would cheapen the whole concept you may as well exchange it for an F-91W and get over with you’ve missed the whole piont of the watch itself
I think the stock bracelet fits the overall aesthetic better, "retro" styling or not, due to the horizontal, rectangular segments on the top and bottom of the case. If the case didn't have those furthest segmented areas, I think it wold work a lot better with the rubber straps of the F-91W. That being said, I kind of like it both ways still for different reasons. Overall I prefer the stock metal bracelet though. Cheers.

@@jerrypranata3557 I was gonna go with the a158 over the a168 because of the size but then I saw the a700 which seems pretty similar to the a158 in terms of size while still offering many upgrades
A700 should be substantially thinner than A168
I like the look of it but it's size is a bit too small for my taste....

try A1000. Expensive, but fun watch.
My only problem with this watch is it's too small on my wrist. 7.5 inch wrist and it looks small.
I like to put digital watches on leather straps. It totally changes the look and makes it more like a dresswatch.
4:35 - metal A1000 is not the same looking watch! It lost that retro look, slimness and futuristic angularity! I woudn't consider it as "metal version" of A700WE.
6:00 - it coudn't due technical reasons. Gap is a must and it doesn't look bad... This is minor "issue" anyway. The biggest are: low WR, no mineral glass, no metal case...

A168 is very thick. A159 is closer for comparison. A1000 looks very nice in person. A700 is also a very nice slim watch.
You will find that all highly gloss polshed watches like polished stainless steel will scratch up just as much as polished chrome coated resin the strange thing is l have both these watches for about 2 years now the one on the bracelette with the black border hasn’t got one scratch on it anywhere lam a Casio collector and l take good care of my watches but the grey one on the mesh strap is very scratched up like yours and l don’t know why l am a woman l don’t fix cars with my watches on lam also disabled so l haven’t gone on any outback adventures in it it just sits in its display case all day with all my others so maybe there is something odd about the plating l ado have a gold version of the bracelette one and that’s in pretty good condition like the rest of my but that grey one on mesh is a real mystery and l love the bracelettes and the gap doesn’t bother me at all Aubrey my OCD isn’t that bad yet-- robyn griffin sydney australia

Both watches are beautiful, though i prefer the one with the black face more. You are right, in the field of digital watches these two are only variants to consider for a dressy look. It's a pity, that they quickly get these ugly scratches, so that you have to buy one every year or so...
metal case dressy Casio A1000 is coming for a review soon. Double the price, but might be worth it?
