I love EVERYTHING about this car. I don't care that it's not the fastest, quickest, most prestigious thing in the world. The emira is a car that I can reasonably attain one day
Lotus is pretty prestigious though. One of the most successful racing teams the world has ever seen. Up until Colin Chapman's death they were more successful in F1 than Ferrari!
They shoot themselves in the foot keeping the standard compression ratio. With the supercharger pullied to make a peak 9psi or so at 7k rpm the supercharger is asleep over half the rev range. That’s why there’s almost no peak torque increase.
I get it they’re a low production run in comparison to other manufacturers but at the end of the day the entire drive train and induction the most expensive portion of a car was R&Ded and manufactured by someone else. Those components while they’re quality they’re mass produced parts bin pieces that are built to a price point not exotic one offs. 90k plus is a lot to ask for a collection of nothing inherently special.
@@Druze_Tito most other Toyota that use this engine were either tuned for road sedan or a SUV. So having one that was tuned for sportscar is definitely an appreciation
What’s incredible is a regular non Lotus-ified 2GR can sound just as good (like a mini F1 car, super racy but not as brutally as this Lotus, in fact at low rpm they’re very quite, it’s only when you get up to between 6k and 9k rpm (ish) that it makes alot of noise, but when it does, with the right exhaust it sounds like a literal mini F1 car 😂
Guys, by 4 circular tails like Ferrari I am talking about all post Espirit era Lotus, ie Elise, Exige, etc. The 2 or 4 circular tails was a hallmark, looks classic, and the new rear is a departure from that. In fact the new tails are borderline ricey, like an older gen Mitsubishi Eclipse.
OMG I cant wait for Lotus to make a more track orientated Emira with a higher redline to around 8-9k, thats what I'm waiting for, only thing missing from the Emira a special high revving engine and sound.
Best looking easily. Quite naughty sounding too. This footage is mile better than any recent Lotus promotional video. They should be paying you guys. Looks great anyway, now give us a GT3 version Lotus!
I had the pleasure of meeting the second Aussie to order one when I saw him at the top of Lake Mountain, and we ran down the hill together. The standard one is a bit tamer than this but retains the beautiful tone, especially revving out under load. Absolutely beautiful car, the best interior in a Lotus ever. I was a bit leery on the company going to Geely, but this has made it all worth it.
What has been upgraded in this gt4 vision emira? It just sounds so much louder and better than the stock vision emira. It sounds so high-pitch, just like a v12 Ferrari
Even the stock Toyota 2GR FE with the right set of headers has an extremely high pitch to it, and they rev up to 8k pretty easily, just look up “2GR FE SW20 F1 Exhaust”
This car like most others needs more testing and experimentation with the UNDERTRAY: More speed & traction combined with less vibrations and lift can be accomplished with 4 bolt-on undertray parts. These parts must be flush East/West and in the correct elevation/curve/shape in the North/South to reduce lift and increase suction to the road. Losing 100 more Kilos is attainable by replacing Aluminum with Magnesium engine and body parts.
I wonder if you can get close to that on the street-legal model. Like 80% there or something. That would be epic. I mean its the same engine so is it unrealistic?
Ok it’s not even in production this is a concept the actual car the non GT4 costs less than 100k and is better than just about everything else in its class. But even still “better options”? Like what? Porsche? Not really, a GT3 is good but I’d argue that a GT3 doesn’t sound like that thing, a GT3 is good looking especially the touring but it still doesn’t look like that thing. That Emira is fucking beautiful whereas the GT3 and or RS are cool really fuckin cool but I wouldn’t call a GT3 save for maybe the 991.2 GT3 beautiful. Besides that you have a Cayman GT4 and what else in its price range??? The AMG GTR black? Maybe?? But that’s pushing it a bit, MC20 no that’s twice the price… McLaren, maybe for a used MP4-12C or 570s but besides that not really…
@@griffins750 i could buy the c8 corvette, an M3, GTR, Cayman GT4, GT500 and for a little more money i could get a used 570s, GT3, R8, and an AMG G. The lotus looks more exotic than some of those cars or costs less but the ratio of price, power and looks, are a bit off imo. The car needs 50-100 more hp out the gate for me.
@@spazysmalls I disagree but clearly we’re different buyers, I wouldn’t even consider most of those because they don’t come with a manual transmission, I also care less about going fast than a do about the actual experience of driving, and when you compare all those cars via that index ratio: price / driving experience and looks or price / to enjoyment ratio, I think the Emira is a bargain, but that’s clearly because you and I are looking for different things in a “good experience” we have different priorities, and that’s ok, hell that’s what’s great about cars, the amount of diversity means we have the chance to find something that more specifically appeals to our wants and desires.
@@griffins750 i think you misunderstood. The emira is a bargain. My comment was specifically for the gt4 which would sell for $200k with 400hp. That is absurd in this market imo thats not for from a 600lt.
