did you like the Episode? What did you take away from it? if I missed anything please let me know.
Your cooking, 🔥🔥 keep it up your editing is fire!
16:46 here the editing note kinda hurt the vibe by being to long idk how you can fix it tho (I am not trying to be mean I want you to keep making these vids)
Yo as I am watching I love the reoccurring spiral galaxy fit into the message of the uzumaki analogy
2:14 I don’t think this was intentional but during the RtS arc nami was the one who brought up the idea of them having admirers and copycats when she meets with usopp and chopper.
@@elliotmcmaster177 Edit: I'm dumb. I replied with bad information so i erased it. I had the video written a specific way but didn't realize that HUGE point until I got to that point while editing. It was a tad on the longer side, but it was necessary due to the fact that I didn't edit in commentary for the other light and dark scenes, deciding on just adding in notes to those parts.
She didn't recognize Ussop because his bounty poster is Sogeking
What do you mean sogeking and usopp are two different people.
@@mr.ballree6287yeah
@@mr.ballree6287 😂😂😂 yeah idk what this guy is on about, they're different people, friends, but different people.
she's in for a hell of a shock when she sees his next poster
@@SonakaGUhhhmmm actually, they r twins
One of my favorite aspects of Fan Letter is just how larger than life the pirates we've followed are in this episode. Like how the girl and the older brother only ever see a brief glimpses of Luffy and Nami's faces, but that brief glimpse leaves such an unforgettable impact on their memories and in their lives. They never even make eye contact with their heroes. When Rayleigh shows up, just casually standing there is enough to cause a military incident. We don't even get close enough to see his face because Rayleigh is on a completely different plane of existence from the regular people we're following. Even a relatively low-tier character like Perona causes widespread chaos throughout Sabaody just by casually walking down the street. Really puts into perspective just how mythical Luffy and his friends are to the regular people of their world.
Funnily enough, I watched the fan letter while I still have full momentum watching the show, and Usopp and Robin merely existing on screen in the fan letter felt like a hype moment. I do wonder what the girl will think when she sees Ussop's poster and realises he's basically the same as Nami in terms of being a Straw Hat.
I love how they use puzzle pieces to represent their dreams and how it all goes together. The puzzle pieces can also show the childlike aspect of one piece and of course, the name of the manga and anime being One piece.
Maybe one piece is the pieces we pieced along the way
That's a lot of pieces though.
@@dontseemyprofilepic3157 Yeah, then it all connects together at the end and becomes one piece
Ugggghhh got me crying at work. Yup. This episode really gripped my heart. Wonderful analysis of something I don’t think any of us will ever forget. Liked and subbed
Never expected them to release something so packed with content. Hope they release more like this. I'll definitely be looking forward to more works from this director
IM NOT CRYING YOU ARE
Calling it the greatest is in no way an exaggeration, It really is the Greatest Single Episode ever.
It was good but c'mon, it wasn't the greatest
it is a massive exaggeration and isnt true in the slightest
@@kaelis1 for real, people just get excited and write these ridiculous and cringe-worthy comments
@@Eternalkanji
This ain't out of hype, This genuinely is the greatest single EP out there. Storytelling, Soundtrack, Pacing, Animation, etc almost everything was perfect combined with the unique animation made it even better.
Now that I've presented my reasons, I hope you have some good arguments as to why this can't be called the greatest single ep
@@kaelis1
Says who? You?
One of the best analysis I've watch ths level of quality is insane
the animation is insaneeee
I don't know if the reason that nobody is mentioning this is because it is so obvious or because everyone missed it, but just like Perona is there due to Zoro, those giant insects that chased the girl and the older brother into the store are there is due to Chopper.
PS I love this video of yours and the effort and dedication that you have put into it is amazing!
Love how much admiration comes trough the episode
it's really a passion project by the team working on it, and you can tell.
@@KamiChan05 and we got a small bit of reanimated paramount war but can't wait for the one peice to release ynow
Another thing to mention, The Big bro constantly got save by Luffy in marineford. He stuck under Orcs leg then the ship that Luffy on fall down from the sky , shaking the ground and unstuck his leg. Then During Mihawk and Cros fight he in the middle of it , suddenly Luffy save Ace the fire explode and push him to the side.Luffy is This guy Lucky charm.
27:06 i think it was a fan letter to oda himself, a type of thank you tward him, showing how he has how you said given life to not only the whole one piece team but the fans aswell
"Set sail" Hit hard like a bajarang gun
I haven't watched One Piece yet although I'm hoping I'll watch it someday. But this standalone episode just makes me cry for no reason and influences me to actually start watching One Piece.
The fan letter episode was an emotional rollercoaster. It beautifully captured the deep connections between the characters and their fans. Seeing the heartfelt letters and the impact they had on the Straw Hat crew showcased the power of dreams, friendship, and perseverance. Moments of vulnerability and joy reminded us how much we invest in these characters' journeys. By the end, you likely felt a mix of nostalgia and inspiration, reflecting on your own passions and the bonds that bring us together. It was a touching tribute to the essence of "One Piece" and its community! You truly deserve more spotlight for this masterpiece of a youtube video.
i like how this episode shows the effect of the war on the navy soldiers since it showed the perspective of others rather than luffy and how bad a war really is
YES! i kept forgetting to read the subs because the episode was so beautiful
There is so much more you notice the more you watch the episode, eg.....her running under her mom's leg foreshadow her doing it to the king of waves, when the older brother was chasing her for 2 seconds the animation changed to them running in the nika pose, her putting on her glasses at the end symbolizes that her new puzzle isnt trying to be like nami but freedom in her own adventures and only then she completes her goal and so much more when you research the voice actors its amazing
I did not think I would love this as much as I do. I started watching the episode thinking that it would be a fun and lighthearted story, something that you watch once but then never really think about again. I'd laugh a little but that would be about it. I was NOT in ANY way prepared for the ABSOLUTE tearjerker this episode ended up being.
Thank you for analyzing something so many times and talking about it and making your own "Fan Letter" and even though I'm not even close to getting this far into One Piece it's wonderful getting to hear people discuss something they love and share it with the world.
❤️
Great analysis. Keep it up man.
This episode was really remarkable. I can't thank enough all the people behind this masterpiece.
I'm glad a lot of people recognise the masterpiece that is. This perspective of probably the single greatest arc in anime ever was just unreal.
Great special episode, I cried in the end. One Piece have this effect on people, I guess.
Great video, Johnny man! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fairly good. Don't agree on one point and a comment on light and dark. The older brother was more feeling inadequate because his younger brother was always better. The younger brother was calling for him searching for him knowing he is clumsy and could die, hence the "run!" From him while trapped.
On the light and dark you missed Luffy literally punching all the darkness away with the pacifista
I did miss that. thanks for letting me know
Thank you for this really wonderful video. I had completely missed the light/shadow dynamic as a narrative tool despite rewatching it far too many times, so I love the fact you pointed it out. I also hadn't noticed the things in her room disappearing during that shot where the marine soldier apprehends her, so thanks for showing me that, too.
My interpretation of the puzzle pieces had always been about 'finding ones place in life'.
As my good act of karma, I'll make two recommendations for One Piece fans to watch.
One is episode 384, which is a wonderful piece of filler that involves Brook adjusting to living with other people following the events in Thriller Bark. (I think many people tend to skip it because it is bundled in along with the rather meh Spa Island filler in arc summaries, but it stands on its own merits.)
The other is the One Piece 3D Movie Strawhat Chase. Sure, it is 3D rather than animated, and it does have one especially noticeable plot hole at some point. But beyond that, it is 30 minutes of mindless rollercoaster-esque fun set to a great soundtrack and a story that, at its very core, is probably the most Oda-esque of ALL the One Piece movies and fillers I've experienced. It is heart wrenching, makes you think, and simultaneously is silly as you watch an old pirate and his similarly aging dog struggle with the situation they are in. But they are such immensely expressive and wonderful characters that I just love every bit out of them. It is not as deep, nuanced nor as emotional as this Fan Letter is, but it still basks in feels and wonderful adventurous spirit.
at 9:55 the second shockwave that saved the big brother is caused by the arrival of luffy. The ship that dropped from the sky caused that shockwave and the big brother didn't know it but he was literally saved by luffy too.
I've never read One Piece or even watched it beyond small clips, but this episode was just beautiful in every sense of the word, had me tearing up at every turn even when I had such a small understanding of this world
With the imagery of the puzzle you can interpret it in multiple ways like the ways you've mentioned, but also as:
How we all start a puzzle with one piece, and end it with one piece.
How we all may be a placed piece in someone else's puzzle.
How we may not see our dreams and start with one piece of the puzzle but can branch out in multiple ways to still find our dream or something that may be equally great as our dream.
A puzzle doesn't need to be a rectangle, it comes in all shapes, forms and piece quantities, just like any person you see on the street: filled with history, different pieces, and some pieces may be common to others that build their life, personality, character with different values.
And these values are what is able to reflect on the episode: we watch Luffy, a godlike/demonlike creature with superhuman strength without a care in the world, while these normal people are fighting for their life after just a single punch by Luffy (Pacifista impact, Paramount war), while we watch Luffy throw hands with creatures stronger than Luffy. These are different values, and this is how we all are connected: some may feel the same, some may be influenced in a way, some may be branch out to others to get their values and associate with them; creating a larger puzzle but still may relate to another's puzzle, thus creating an infinitely large puzzle as long there's people. And as long there's people, a man's dream will never die.
God I fucking love One Piece, a simple thing can be interpreted in multiple ways, and still be correct in their interpretation.
Also, great video! I have rewatched the episode like 4-5 times, and each time I rewatch it or watch an analysis of the episode I notice and hear new things, it's crazy how good this episode is for respective person as the values of the episode is relative to the person.
From here on out the episodes are all gonnd be absolutely magnificent
I love this episode and everything it represents . One piece and the strawhats have inspired me so much so the episode really hits.
I think this episode shows me what the one piece anime could be. I realize its a different studio that's making the remake but if WIT is able to truly understand what one piece means to fans than I think I'm cry. This episodes was so good I think only because they had the freedom to do what thy want with the pacing. One piece has so much potential. I can't help but think of what one piece could be if it was this consistently amazing. Its enough to make a grown man cry.
I'm excited to see what they do
i dont watch one piece and i saw clipos of that episode everywhere
I still cant get over how brutal and detailed the scenes of marineford were. The old brother nearly drowning with no one to help him or remember him, the marine sitting with the dead corpse of his comrade just hiding of the insurmountable odds. The vicious melees where the old brother is just swinging his gun like mad man looking for the next threat. Them charging into battle at a full sprint amongst monsters, warlords and emperors. Put a lot of respect on the basic marine.
Last "One Piece" of the puzzle was to tear the letter
Episode: One piece fan letter
Im glad this episode was made
It’s not even the best One Piece episode, I did love it though
I liked how the girl stopped copying Nami at the end
She started using her glasses and stopped using similar clothes to Nami
The girl stepped out of the shadow 😊
How am I getting emotional at a recap?
The colors in this episode were also amazing.
brilliant analysis! I can tell you'll have a lot of fans soon, keep it up!
Hope so!
This epsiode gave me so much nostalgia as a long time watcher of One Piece.
dude you said stuff i didn't even catch awesome video i hope other people get to watch your video
Very beefy episode. There was stuff I only caught durring editing
Is this what the one piece is? The one piece that brings it all together
The one piece was the friends we made along the way all along
One of my favorite things is how they don’t make the younger brother evil he probably just thinks he’s encouraging his brother with his small remarks
I liked that as well. It's very realistic. They don't mean anything bad by it, they just don't know how much it has negatively affected the other person.
Incredible video. Episode brought me to tears and so did this video. The greatest story ever told, One Piece
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was an amazing episode. Love the summary and analysis.
I literally stopped one piece like a year ago and many times I’ve tried to get back to it and failed but lemme tell u, when I watched this episode on my tv, that specific joy I felt when I was watching my first anime came back from this episode and it was magical. Oh and I finally reached episode 200 and honestly, I don’t know why I dropped one piece for like a year lol, that filler(?) arc was great. Anyways, awesome episode! Really made me remember why I do art in the first place:)
I stopped watching one piece at some point as well. But through sheer determination I got through it. And I'm glad I did.
I hear One Pace is great for people who just wanna get caught back up with the story. Maybe try checking that out if you want to?
ive watched this episode over a hundred times now. Counted. I am also analysing every cut, character design, action, animation and storywriting of this. I wanna learn and understand as much as I can from this!! Greatest episode in ANIME!!!! AND I WILL MAKE FANANIMATIONS OF THIS FOR SURE
Fantastic video, this is why I love one piece so much, hope people give it a try if you want to watch a fantastic story, with even more amazing characters
Hoping the one piece remake gives people an entry into the incredible story.
14:55 Alot of people miss this but the lipstick on the younger brother's face... that's probably from the okamas that came to help sanji escape, the ones tht did a wink at sanji and gave him goosebumps lmfaoo 😆
They really named it the fan letter because it was a carefully crafted fan letter to us, the fans.
This episode left me weeping proud tears while laughing.
All roads lead to One Piece
dam i love the animation/art style they used here
in the credits, it was shown that the Straw Hats passes by some of the cast of this very special episode, it even shows Robin was eavesdropping or hiding from the Older Brother and Luffy almost bump into the girl but he is looking the other way. There is a lot of subtle details on this episode that was shown in split second like in the opening scenes at the Marineford, they actually show the Buffy Chopper Fan catches the iceberg saving the other marines. Also, when the Older Brother saves the Girl from the pirates, iirc, i think this the first time we hear the *clicking* sound indicating the puzzle started to come together in that very moment.
this single episode is better than most animes
you: my only complain is that the intro cuts are too fast and i have to read subtitles.

I am a mear beta male in comparison

Nami would have loved that letter and be very proud of the girl ^^
TW: TRAUMA DUMP/YAPPING
I will forever be grateful to Oda for creating the universe we all love. The fan letter reminded me that through my lowest times, one piece has helped me thru it.
My younger brother was killed 2 years ago, and the amount of guilt I still have for the way his life turned out for me being such a lazy older brother maybe he'd still be here. I miss him every day, and it's so coincidentally that the fan letter has this detail in it where again, I feel like it came at the perfect time in my life.
All that to say, this may be the greatest episode of one piece ever released. Thank you, Eiichiro Oda

I very much agree. She's goated

@@KamiChan05episodes like these are irreplaceable. Wouldn't change them one bit.
5:30 I think this is a joke about fan theories too.
if you found it funny then that was entirely on purpose.
And as a footnote, the character design and animation reminds me of some great work from 24 years ago. Is this accidental?
I find it really interesting that none of these characters get proper names. It allows the viewer to impose themselves onto these characters because to me so much of this episode felt like “Hey, that’s me! That’s what I do!” like how the Strongest Swordsman debate brings up Vista and randomly Akainu which is definitely something I’ve seen happen with fan arguments. It also shows that people who “don’t matter” or are “fodder” still hold importance to the world, these people won’t have their names written in history books like the Straw Hats, these people ARE just like you and me because their impact on the world will be so incredibly small, and yet… each character places their puzzle piece, and while individually each piece is meaningless and don’t amount to much the combination of all these tiny actions and decisions build up to create these incredible moments that WILL define history. The Straw Hats would have died if each character didn’t make the tiny decisions they made during this episode. Just like how One Piece would have failed if the readers and viewers didn’t make the small decision to continue reading and watching this story, we ARE these characters because WE allowed the Straw Hats to make it as far as they did just like these characters did. We won’t have our names written in history and we won’t make a large difference individually, but each of our small decisions collectively led to the greatest story ever written being told. We are only one piece but together we can build a beautiful puzzle.
9:00 what is nami doing there, she is laying on the brotha
I just thought that was a look-a-like. They gotta get different hair colors on people.
