- moody 1980's song
this is just 1 picture per 5 seconds, it was decimated to fit on a web page, before the youtube days, i'm still trying to find the original, and post it on youtube
Without doubt the greatest One Hit Wonder of all time. And simply one of the best pop songs ever written.
This song means a whole lot to me. My father died on Nov. 16, 1980 and this song payed in the car on the way home afterwards and I felt it was him speaking to me. It took 20 years to find this. I searched and searched and every music store said they had never heard of it and then finally on a current tv show it played. Before 3 notes were played I knew it was the song and went to their website ad found out who it was. Thanks Korgis.
I first heard this song when I was sixteen, growing up in the American Midwest. It perfectly captured my mood at the time since I was having a lot of problems at work, home, and school. I almost forgot about it since it never gets played on the radio or in stores here in the U.S., but recently found it on the internet. It is still one of the all-time best, in my opinion. Simple, beautiful, and still haunting after all these years.
This song has special significance for me as well. My first Love broke up with me when I was 17 and I heard this song the same day, I felt the two were always connected. It is truly a song that has so much significance for so many. Years later I reconnected with my First Love and we are together. Playing the song still brings back all the emotions and feelings I felt when I was 17 years old.
One of my favourite songs ever... I can't help crying.
Me too :-(
Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind brought me here, now im addicted to this song.
yep!!
This is the original version, the one used in Eternal Sunshine... is by Beck. I love both versions, but Beck's seems to hit a nerve every time.
Beautiful song.
Same goes for me
It was the same for me!!!
Me too
The most beautiful haunting song ever. stirs my emotions so much, How my heart yearns, for those long gone wonderful years of the 80's. Music had feeling and a melody then. We had hopes and dreams, and everything was new and exciting. What do have to look forward to today.People are obsessed with money, and people are too absorbed with electronic devices.to escape reality, and pressures.LOL .
where is this world of the 80 's ? We will never know this world again.
I am so nostalgic .........
I was 11 when this was a hit back in 1980. This original's still the best.
I was the same age then too. Never found out who played this until now, though.
Es la misma version solo que mas grave. 😀
Yo también tenía 11 entonces! Y no deja de emocionarme esta canción 40 años después...
The delivery of the "everybody's gotta learn sometime" is incredible.
This song haunts me to the core every time I hear it, there's a sense that it's been playing before it started, and continues to play long after it's stopped...
This song is very heavy emotionally. I was 26 when it came out and it went right through me !
I'm 15 and I just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Best movie ever!
One of the all time greatest love songs ever written! I love it, I love it, I love it!
A song I never get fed up with no matter how many times it's played. a timless classic. a masterpiece.l LOL.
One of those songs has a meaning to us all no matter how old we are ..but still as good as the day it came out
My girlfriend got back home this afternoon , now I'm alone , and this song make me think about all this moment of happiness... Cause sometimes you just gotta cry and think about how much you can love someone , this song is perfectly accurate
pussy
@zenittr LMAO !!
You gonna be ok. I promise you that.
Be blessed. Always.
All is possible. Sadness, cry...for a while, for a reason; so that once it*s over you can have a new lease on life.
Possible. Amen.

beautiful, mesmerizing, haunting......quite possibly one of the greatest songs ever
Mein Gott, wie lang ist es her das ich diesen Song gehört oder dieses Video gesehen hab...!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😉😉😉😉🥰🥰🥰🎶🎶🎶🎤🎤🎛🎹🎸🎷🎷🎻🎺🎶🎶🎶
I have heard this on local radio while working, and I could not resist this song from 1979 before....Change your heart...Just passing and thank you for sharing*
In the 80's we had it all, from Van Halen and Def Leppard to Prince and Madonna, and there was still space on the radio for soft and moody tunes like this one, that were unique in there own way. Now all pop music sounds alike.
Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind
Eternal spotline of a sunless mind
Simplemente maravilloso, tenia 18 años cuando la escuche...Saludos desde el puerto de Ilo Peru.
love this song my favorite in the 80s ,
Brings it right back...Holiday romance, 1980, Warners holiday camp, Hayling Island, Southleigh....Where are you now Elaine?
If I don't hear this song at least once a week, life is out of balance
Wunderbarer Song!! Evergreen..!!!🎶🎶🎶🎶🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️🎹🎹❤❤
DRUNK and back home after a good night out. slightly high too. TRIPPING to this beautiful tune at 5am. THIS WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL
I love this stuff.
I was serving in the Army in the early 80's when this came out and I remember listening
to it on my tank (The '60 series) through the "OX"...;)
I sit atop a hill in La Puente Ca. and when I hear this, it takes me back when I was a kid. Wish that I can go back and do the 80's all over again. Great song to a untouchable decade of music.
This song matches the film Eternal Sunshine so perfectly -always sends shivers down my spine -i think it means we mustn`t take life/those we love for granted and only realise this once they have gone. It preaches live for the moment. I absolutely love it and never tire of hearing it.
This is so lovely. It reminds me of when i was 15 years old, in summercamp and in love. :)
Nice memories.
I wish i could protect my children forever in this sick world.
It was easier before.
It's why I won't have children.
stfu
Or you can just accept life like it is, every one have to die sometimes ! Just have to keep that in mind
Soulful music, simple lyrics and musically so very appealing, Sigh, what else can I say?
I bought the 45 of this around Dec 1980. Still play it every now and then. Haven't heard the song on the radio since it left the charts even though the song and the album were heavily promoted. Seems one of the best forgotten hits out there.
intemporelle, magnifique,magique.... certainement unes des plus belles chansons au monde!!!
Haunting, surrealistic presentation...... nostalgic to the new wave era of the late 70's.
Change your heart it will astound you. If only the world could do this
Just heard this yesterday on the AT40 replay on Sirius XM - 11-15-80. Didn't remember it from back then but definitely a great song. Further trivia - it was the only U.S. Hot 100 hit for The Korgis.
haunting, ethereal, and beautiful......
+Reactiv12 It really is ..love it!
just watched the movie...amazing...the ending song brought me here....and will stay here for a while
This tune takes me back in time - reminds me of past romances - love it or leave it - Ed
kcaj- you're right. The song is ethereal...I recall listening to it a few weeks before my dad died. A few days after his funeral, I was in a bar when a band did it exactly as the single. It is sad, disturbing and fascinating at the same time. The sound is like nothing else I've heard. Unsettling...the strings, sax and synth get into your brain.
I was 14 when I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The day I saw it, I broke my leg. I was in pain, but when I got home, I saw that film, and I was in tears of joy. It made me so happy, that I saw it again. It's my favorite film ever.
Everybody got to learn sometime, to love. Because we all need love, like we need sunshine on our faces!
i found my first girlfriend when this came out, she was way out of my league, and two years older, i remember trembling as i blagged our way into an over 21 night, the sense of relief when we got in and got served at the bar will live with me for as long as i hear this song, when i think back to those times we were both just kids really, but i loved her immensely and always think about her
With all security this song is his major success.
This was such a great era for music. Disco was dead. The tweeners hadn't become new-wavers yet. Even the cheesy synth, slow-dance songs like this were genius.
top one hit wonder song by the korgis march 1980. the synthesizer is fantastic. makes the song come alive
I remember listening to this song in the car, with my mom driving, when i was 12 years old.
I'm 40 now. I've been looking for this song for 28 years.
Just checking the ARC top pop songs for the years 1980 I ran across this song and thought the title did not ring a bell. After finding it here, I did remember it and it is a haunting song to say the least. It peaked at 14 on the American ARC charts. Nice finding this rare gem.
Its as fresh now as when i first heard it all those years ago, just love it
This one is off a record or tape that's playing a little slow and has some grit in the recording..... it's haunting and perfect.
Sitting on the tiny loveseat in my cramped one-room apartment, tears streaming down my face as I listen to the radio, wishing to god Debbie hadn't left me and thinking we should have been hearing this song for the first time together...it would've had a whole different meaning for me then.
Wonderful and haunting melody. Classic song!
This is the best version...what an awesome song better than the crap that we had to endure to day...
One hit wonders from the early 80's. I probably only heard this song a dozen times or so almost 30 years ago, but still remember it.
And it was 38 years ago in mid December 1980 that this song hit the airwaves. Time.
thanks :) i liked this song since always, and it was odd because through the years it played at least once a year on radio - i didnt hear it on radio recently. it's great when it's 4am and you're tired, and you turn on the radio and this song plays - the feeling is similar to the songs "baker street" by Gerry Rafferty and "captain of her heart" by "double" and "horse with no name" and "wonderful life" by
"black" ---- note that the real video for this version of the Korgis song is on youtube
I cannot believe a friend of mine had to pay somebody $5 for this song, and this is free on UA-cam. Of course it was back in the 90s. Great song!
My Godness ... so happy to know this song ... I was 5 year old :-)
this song always was so mysterious to me and took me for ever to find out anything about.
Great song, that should have been bigger. So haunting it has that perfect early 80's feel.
I've heard the song when my friend and I decided that our relationship is over. And every time I hear this song, I always think of him, and wonder why is it only came to an end....:(
But anyway, the song is really nice :)
Tough break mate, I think this has been a signature for everyone-I'm in my mid thirties and even though I was too young to get it when it came out but such a classic song stood the test of time and I remember my first love and break up!! This summed it up!! Looks like for everyone!! It is all about different meanings completely agree.
I forgot which cover of this song I heard before but its been haunting my brain all these years. I just love it to bits
Tnx mcasual, I'll check out. I remember this one growing up in UK. Not sure how it went down in North America. The more I hear it, the more I realise how bloody good it was. The stills in this vid seem to match the mood.
This would make a great break-up song. It could take you down to the depths you want to go to, but give you the peace at the same time.
TRULY FANTASTIC FOR ANYONE WITH EMOTIONS THANK YOU U-TUBE....
I'm 13 and I just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So good.
I'm 18 and engaged me and my fianceé adore this song and can't help but sing a long it's a really emotional song and reminds me and him of what we have been through together... A genuinely great song :-)
Always resonated with me , still does all these years later , timeless.
@DaveDaRave1980 Thanks very much for the update. I heard "If I Had You" on a compilation CD but didn't realise it made the charts. Neat little song and good use of sincere 50s style. Very understated band, the Korgis. Wish they'd done more.
This song was the start of my life and is the end of my love, too I loved it very very much... Thank U who made it... U gave me something for all my life :)
really beautiful song.
Very nice song that I heard in 1980. What is sad for me is that I didn't know that my Daddy would die Twenty-eight years later. I was able to get to 46 years of age.
Simply, this song has astounded me...
Magic. Every version of this song is good, simply cause the song is a little masterpiece. But This one is the best.
Such a simple song and so beautiful...
Ahhhh... bliss, Korgis best version, take's me back to good times when life was sweet ....ode to yesterday.
I simply love this song, even though is quite sad. Thanks from Chile!
The Korgis hit #18 on Billboard Hot 100 on 12/27/80. Thanks for posting it! :)
The blokes hit #18 in Billboard, 12-27-80. God bless ya, finfineau, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week!
Wow, I just came across this song while searching for loops. Didn't know this was the original piece.
Back in the early 80's I remember this song very well. As a young teener I had an am radio. Especially during nights
I listened to that radio. There were often thunderstorms during the night; not overhead but in the vicinity of where I lived at that time. I remember very well the song. I loved it (still do). The signal of the radio often faded away, then came back the effect of an AM mw radio. This song is very special to me. Now some years ago I found the alternate version on youtube with the same beautiful quality as this one, but with raincloud pictures. Unfortunately that version is no longer available.... But nothing wrong with this version either. Thanks for uploading!! For me the sound is perfect
God damn it ,'i've been always lookin' 4this song..finally,i've found it...i used to hear it on the radio but i never knew who sung it
Great track... From The Korgis. On my CD That Loving Feeling Volume 3. For me it reminds me of Sarah P, in her red Austin Meastro driving in West Kirby, Wirral in 1991.
according to wikipedia, the album is dated June 15th 1980, so on December 8th it was probably still on high rotation on the radio. ( on a totally different subject, listening to it, for the 1000th time, the synth sounds a bit like on the 10cc album 'dangerous bends' maybe the song feel the benefit )
I just love this song it reminds me of being a child but I still get the same feeling listening to it as I did back then :)
Words like genius and brilliant fall short of the pure spirit of this song
i absolutely loveeeeeeeeee this song , my all time favourite xxx
have always loved this song. for some reason been in my head for days, so decided to look it up. didn't know there were sooo many versions. no matter who does it, so poignant a song!
Heard the cover of this on Nip/Tuck too.
I was 12, I was in bed, my clock radio was on sleep, this song was playing on WNEW (I think)and they broke into the song to announce that John Lennon had been shot. I still get a weird feeling once ever 12 years when I hear this song.
Dude I just watched the movie. Watch it man, it's awesome! Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.
They placed this song on Ashes to Ashes series 2 episode 4 and I was wracking my brain trying to remember when this song came out. It's been in my head ever since I heard it again. This song is truly awesome!
such an unusual love song.....a stroke of genius if you ask me
I was 13 years old lying in my bed after just listening to this song when I heard the news of John Lennon's passing. I was a huge Beatles fan and my world stopped for a moment and this song seared in as the song that tied it all together for me somehow.
In the last couple years I've been trying to find it again. I FINALLY heard this song again with Beck's version on Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and couldn't believe it.
Then found this. I'm still timewarped.
Thanks for posting finfineau!!
brings back some really good memories......
Sunday morning. Sunny blue skies. What more could I need.
thank you soo much for posting this...you cannot touch the origional~as depressing as it sounds..~not even Beck! One of the best of all time!
