There is one thing I NEVER see mentioned in videos, print recipes and/or buy cookbooks, and use them! Know your fav's and make sure you have the things you need to make those meals. I have family favorites I make, but also we love Mexican and Chinese, so I have those books and I keeps those ingredients on hand at all times :) Great tips, thank you!
Great point! I live alone and just don’t care to cook…at all. I think I have 1 or 2 cookbooks…. somewhere. Since I have a well-stocked pantry, I’ve decided it was time to write down some simple recipes. I’m just writing 3x5” index cards and tucking them into my prep binder. I’m admiring those of you with creative dreams! For me, I’m just sticking with the basics.
Ok, I see those Kippered Snacks. PLEASE, any suggestion on how to eat them? On toast? Crunch ‘em in tomato sauce? I’m greatly intimidated to try them🤷🏻♀- dunno why. I LIKE fish. I bought kippers in mustard. NOTE: that’s not an “expiration” date on the can, it’s merely a Best By Date. Acidic foods need a watchful eye - tomato sauce, mandarin oranges, pineapples, etc. (yes, I had a can of pineapple chunks that exploded…ew!). Tip: along with seasonings, add a few cans of broth (cans are longer shelf life than the boxed variety) and flavor packages (like Ranch). All good tips, thank you!
Love all of your tips!! Thank you!!! We love kippered snacks right out of the can, or maybe with some salad greens. Having it on toast or crackers is another popular option ☺
I’m so overwhelmed with prepping. I have bags of food in my front room that I haven’t even unpacked minus the perishable foods. I really don’t have any place to put it. And all the storage units that I like are steele. And I’m afraid to buy because they’re solid and God forbid during a storm it flops around and injuries someone. So I’m on the lookout for something to put out extras in.
I hope you are able to find something soon to put all your extras in! I know it's not easy and it all does get overwhelming at times!! I had a season like that a couple years ago where I had so many bags of grains and legumes that didn't get put away, and then sure enough - mice found their way in and made a huge mess before I even realized it! I was so upset! Best of luck with finding a place for storage soon! ✨
Vacuum sealer and totes may be an affordable option. Mylar bags and buckets get pricey quick. Id put more $ into canning jars-supplies etc. Just make sure to not over pack the tote so you get a tight seal & you can stack them.
@@ahomesteadjourney. Those clever little mice always looking for that opportunity. I’m sure they love prepper pantries too lol. I’m glad you figured that out a solution that problem! And I will update you guys on my solution on one of your upcoming videos.🥰
Thanks for all of your tips. Vacuum sealers are great! And so affordable and easy to use. We have high humidity, so it helps keep ritz and other type cookies/crackers fresh. ⭐️

Great tip! A good idea is to have an actual library of cookbooks and survival books.

@@mellosings6180 Great advice!!
@@mellosings6180. Thanks! I like the vacuum seal idea. And I love that the bags are clear. I will check that out the next time I’m at Walmart.

You need breakfast foods and dinner foods at least two meals a day
