Charlie is super nostalgic, although most of my exposure to him was through the packaging of Starkist, the MasterCard Icons commercial, some of the CGI commercials, and through retro commercial compilations on YT and DVDs which is how I got obsessed with mascots to begin with.
Funny you should mention Joe Camel! I've had a miniseries planned for a few years now about cigarette advertising icons, but the problem is that after a certain point in time, cigarettes were not allowed to advertise on television and that makes crafting an episode around such a concept kinda impossible, considering we're a visual medium lol I'd still like to find some way to do it though!
First time I'm watching this series - I get that you probably have to mix down the audio on the commercials to avoid copyright problems, but could you add some captions to know what they're saying?
I mean the footage is just a silent backdrop for the narration, otherwise the show may as well be a podcast lol I think it would be rather jarring to have subtitles that don't match with the narration but instead match with the footage.
@@mst3kanita Hey, no need to be snarky. I mean, I'm all for snark, but he was asking a perfectly valid question and I by no means have issue with that :) We all just try to get along here!
Nice video as always Cody and Maggie! Man I’ve never seen a fictional character with a death wish before though…
