Norris has put together a couple of fine recovery drives this season, so I don't think the hypothesis that he can only lead from the front is evidenced at all.
They ranked Charles LeClerc 2nd and Lando Norris 3rd, but Lando Norris won TWICE as many races as Charles LeClerc. Lando Norris - 4 Charles LeClerc - 2 Lando Norris - 8 pole positions. Charles LeClerc - 2 pole positions Lando Norris out-qualified his teammate - 21 to 3 Charles LeClerc out-qualified his teammate - 14 to 9 Lando Norris finished in 2nd place in the Driver's Championship Charles LeClerc finished in 3rd place in the Driver's Championship In every statistical category, Lando Norris completely destroyed Charles LeClerc, but these so-called "expert" F1 journalists have Charles LeClerc ahead of Lando Norris. I'm so happy that Lando Norris completely shut Scott Mitchell up. Before the summer break, Scott Mitchell was talking a lot of sh*t about Lando Norris. Saying things like Oscar Piastri was a better F1 driver than Lando Norris. But Lando Norris came back after the summer break and completely dominated Oscar Piastri. Several times, Lando Norris out-qualified by Oscar Piastri over half a second. Lando Norris also helped Oscar Piastri win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
@hotdiggityd During his rookie season, Lando Norris went toe-to-toe with his much more experienced teammate in Carlos Saintz for two seasons. For two seasons, Lando Norris completely embarrassed Daniel Ricciardo. He actually retired him. Alpine spent millions of dollars getting Oscar Piastri up to speed on F1 cars. They rented out several F1 tracks. Went it was time to drive for Alpine, he jumped ship for McLaren after everything they did for him. Character matters. For 6 seasons, Lando Norris stuck with McLaren even though they were often at the back of the grid. Christian Horner and Red Bull Racing were desperate to sign Lando Norris, but he stuck with McLaren. Character matters.
Leclerc nearly beat Norris in the standings (the only stat that matters) in a much worse car. Norris had the best car for 14 races, Charles just 3. And regards your comments on the rookie season/ Sainz. In his rookie season, Lando scored just 10 more points than Charles in his. Lando was in the 4th fastest car, and Charles the 8th. He also didnt go "toe to toe" with Sainz, he was demolished by him in 2019, but did close up in 2020. Weras Charles,in only his 2nd and 3rd season, retired vettel, even scoring 3 times his points in 2020. Lando only embarrassed riccado because of the way the car behaved under breaking, which was the total opposite of what he liked. He performed better in objectively worse cars (namley the Renault and the AT) that behaved the way he liked. And Lando didnt stay with Mclaren because of his "character" Mclaren blocked the deal. Mclaren were crap for one season, after a massive rule change. Also, you seem to think that driver academeys are the Mafia, and the driver needs blinding, unflinching loyalty. They do not. The Alpine academey has only just promoted its first driver into a F1 seat at the main team, for the first time in about 10 years.

I think sainz and russel should be ahead of Norris, considering that McLaren was the fastest car for the majority of the season

Some wonderful analysis of Max Verstappen’s season toward the end of this pod . All drivers beautifully analysed here. Great stuff
Was that the official end of season photo? Lando looks like when a kid scoffs in a 90's cartoon. Looking away from his opponent like that. 😆

I mean basically everyone except the most staunch of Lando Norris zealots thinks Leclerc had the better season.
