Used my GR3 35L and Red Oxx Extra Small Aviator Kit Bag recently on a 5 day trip to Eugene, OR to run a marathon. It swallowed everything, including warm clothes, racing shoes and still had room to spare. That will be my travel combo from now on.

Another great video JB! I rock a 2-bag set up, but I prefer a max legal carry on rollaboard for clothes and shoes (that I don't mind being gate-checked), and a the smallest personal item size backpack that fits my tech, toiletries, liquids, in flight needs, wallet, keys, etc. I say smallest because I need to preserve as much leg room as possible as this bag will be going under the seat in front of me. I use a Briggs and Riley Baseline 2-wheel (more interior space than a spinner) for the rollaboard. I use the GoRuck Bullet DC16 for my personal item backpack (that also serves as the day pack at the destination). BTW, my GoRuck Wire Dopp works PERFECTLY for all my in flight needs. I just pull it out and place it in the seat pocket in front of me.

I can comfortably travel almost anywhere with just my GR1 21L, but if I needed I could always bring my kit bag as well!

How important is pack height when picking a personal item? Basically all of these are taller than the “official” limits. I’m eyeing another GR1 26L but don’t want to accidentally get something that I can’t use in addition to a duffel or carry on suitcase. Thanks!
That's a tough one and depends on a lot of factors. One obvious one is how full you pack it. Others are related to your specific airline, airplane, and seat choice. Most airlines have published dimensions but some seats are in weird spots and are slightly different. So I guess "it depends". Nevermind the fact that these dimensions are inconsistently enforced.
@@JBOutside1 Yeah, a lot of grey area. Have you ever had an issue using any of the three aforementioned packs as a personal item? Or anything else in the 19-20” height range?

I applaud people who can travel airports with two bags. To heavy, not great for your back and what the hell do people do when they need to take a crap in the bathroom? A heroclip won't work....lol But one should never do this to their back.
One day I won't be able to...but now it's no problem.

no doubt. I either find a friend to watch my stuff or stand up and take care of business. If solo I’ll hang stuff up on hooks. But never on the floor 🤮
@@JBOutside1 true but that’s a big pain trying to hang two bags. Not to mention I guess some people don’t sweat. Lugging around two bags in an airport I would be way to hot for me.
