    Wow, I did not realize how much 60g of protein looks like. I weigh a bit over 150lb and your example of the food to get to 60g blew my mind.
    Great video!

      @@AndGamesScience it's nice to have some examples so we can actually visualize how much protein that is, even if it involves whipping up a strange meal of oats, garbanzo beans, milk, and eggs 😂

    This was very concise and very "digestible" content :D. It's good to know what the science says and I'm glad you included options for plant based diets too.

    Perfect timing as I was trying to convince my mom to consume more protein the other day. Sent this to her.

      @david.fit9 I'm glad this can be a resource for her! This is what I was hoping for. If more of our mothers could learn the importance of eating protein, it could make a difference in their quality of life and their ability to maintain muscle mass. I hope the best for her!

    Many times I mix a raw egg in a glass of milk. I have heard that raw egg contains more protein than boiled or fried eggs. What do you think?

    • @newepoc-brain
      @newepoc-brain  12 днів тому +5

      @@JaniRantalainen-n4z thanks for your question! From my understanding, an uncooked egg and a cooked egg should have the same amount of protein. The only difference is the structure of the proteins. When an egg gets cooked and changes to a white and solid texture - that's happening because of its proteins going through a process called "denaturation," where they literally unfold. But even when the proteins are unfolded, the amino acids that make up the proteins are largely unchanged. So our bodies can still absorb those amino acids and use them for muscle building. So even if the egg is cooked, its total amount of protein should stay the same. Does that answer make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching!

    It's easy to get overwhelmed by everything! With my weight and lifestyle, I need 120g of daily protein. But I also know how good intermittent fasting is for us. 120g of protein in 8 hours feels nearly impossible, especially when you can only eat ~30g of protein at a time. 30g of protein every 2 hours is so much food! I honestly don't see how I can make it work 😓

    • @newepoc-brain
      @newepoc-brain  11 днів тому +2

      @janinesh4 That totally makes sense. I think it likely comes down to what you want to prioritize. 0.8 grams of protein is the upper end for what most people can see the best gains from. But you can very likely see great results with less than this. I'd say try to aim for what's reasonable for your lifestyle while incorporating higher quality proteins whenever you can. I think finding something that is sustainable and that you can be consistent with will be the most effective long-term.

      I routinely eat 75g+ protein for dinner. Where did you get 30g limit?

    saying you only need 60g of protein per day if you're a sedentary person is like saying you only need strong bones if you're going to leave the couch - it assumes the worst as the baseline. it’s ignoring what the body actually needs to thrive, not just scrape by on bad habits. everyone should get at least 0.8g per pound of lean bodyweight because everyone should be exercising!

    stop using lbs for god sake, you're already using grams, why the hell you still using lbs? You're using two diferent units in the same sentence for the same thing.

    • @newepoc-brain
      @newepoc-brain  10 днів тому

      Haha totally understand that (coming from an engineering background, converting things into pounds always feels pretty rediculous). But since this video is based in America and everyone loves freedom units here, it's easier for people to hear lbs.
