      My friend wove rebar through the fence and hooked the truck to the rebar and slowly pulled the wire tight then hooked the fence to the posts. Twenty years later and the fence is still tight.

    Great idea. You might also be able to get away with just one ratchet strap by creating a yoke that attaches to the single strap more or less midway between the two fence pulling positions. That way you get a fairly uniform pull on both top and bottom as you draw the single ratchet tighter.

    • @johnshanahan6439
      @johnshanahan6439 6 днів тому

      True. But you'll get more tension with two straps. Plus a bit more control.

    • @joewoodchuck3824
      @joewoodchuck3824 6 днів тому +1

      @@johnshanahan6439 The amount of tension doesn't change from one strap or two. It's only limited by the ability of the operator to pull tight enough, and the strength ratings.

    Nice. I've done it with a fence stretcher board and a single cumalong, but this looks better because you can do the top separate. I have plenty of ratchet straps so I can do more if I need to. Thanks.

    OR
    If you have an old fence that is sagging,
    use the claw end of a hammer, slide
    over top wire and twist a little.
    Then just work down to the bottom.
    Basically kink the wire to tension it.
    You will do this in multiple places till
    desired tension is reached.
    The deer mess our fences up and they
    require this method to eliminate sagging.
    Well done, sirs !

    Your stretcher can be improved upon....
    Two 2x6's with five bolts with fender washers will sandwich the wire in-between...
    Add a chain-cable-strap top and bottom to create a "V"... Use a come-a-long as it will allow you to pull the slack out verses the short pull of ratchet straps...
    This can be used at any point along a run...

  • @johnrushing4957

    I just use two pieces of 2x4 cut the same length as the fence. Drill 5 or 6 holes that match completely through both boards
    . Sandwich the wire between tho boards and bolt them together clamping the boards down on the wire. This way it doesn't damage the wire and it will hold good enough to pull your coner post out of the grpund, i only did that once and learned not to get it that tight lol. I use the red top wire with 2x4 squares but this will work on any size and any height.
