    Pre-emptive note to the comment section safety police - you could take the time you'll spend writing any "I would have done it differently" comments and use it to plan or carry out your own DIY and repairs.

      I know people care to see things that they do for a living be done/ represented to the full extent of their practices - but quite frankly you don’t gotta be a roofer to put on a roof that doesn’t leak ya know.

    I started watching for just for the cabin restoration, but it turns out, I watch for everything! The banter is second to none, Max is absolutely adorable, the machinery always has its own story to tell and watching the cabin change is very satisfying. I really enjoy the long videos too. Life in my house stops until I’ve finished watching!

    The windows and doors are a huge step to making the place liveable again.
    One thing to consider: there should be a drip cap over the windows and doors. It tucks under the siding and over the top of the trim to deflect water.

    I got 13 years out of the factory battery in my last car and 12 years so far in this car. I live in Eastern Ontario so the climate here isn't that much different from yours: I use lots of heat/rear defrost in the winter and AC in the summer. This car also has power everything.
    My father taught me decades ago to shut off all the accessories before killing the ignition because doing so put much less stress on the battery when starting up again. I've always done this so that may be making a difference. Then again, I may be living a charmed life.

    • @99Projects
      @99Projects  3 місяці тому +1

      I always shut the accessories off and to be honest I have a lot less trouble with batteries in vehicles I drive all the time. The trouble seems to start in my equipment that doesn’t get run wvery single day. The second they go dead, about 6 months there done. They never work right again.

    Sorry dude, but my son bought an electric car 2 years ago and it's still running really well. He loves it. LOVES it. I bought a Prius in 2004. They estimated the "big" battery would last 8 years. I sold it 14 years later. The original "big" battery was still working. Your battery problem is just that...YOUR battery problem. I don't know why your battery doesn't hold a charge, but it's not the way batteries are supposed to work.
    You might want to watch a couple of episodes of This Old House. Your window installation will rot the wall under the window. I'm not a carpenter either, but I know about flashing.

    I'm an old lady, 83, but I am concerned watching this one with those two large trees close to where you are digging your trench. If you get lots of rains after the soil is loosened, won't that make them liable to fall over onto your cabin??
    Also, I think you are having way too much fun using all those awesome tools......just kidding. Be careful young man! Well done so far!

    • @99Projects
      @99Projects  Місяць тому

      They won’t call over but the trench could collapse of it rained enough

    You know, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do. You’re out there, getting your hands dirty, digging trenches and wrestling with busted wires. That’s the kind of work that tests your mettle. Ain’t no shortcuts to doing it right, and you know that.
    When things go wrong - and they will - you’ve got to stay as steady as a six-shooter in a gunfight. You handle each problem like you’d handle an enemy: with precision, patience, and grit. If the battery’s dead, you find a way to charge it. If the wiring’s all wrong, you figure out how to make it right. Ain’t no room for hesitation out there.
    You’re building more than a cabin; you’re building your own piece of the frontier, a place where you make the rules. And every setback, every frustration, that’s just part of the journey. You face it head-on, no complaints, no second-guessing.
    So, keep your eyes sharp and your wits sharper. Don’t let the small stuff get under your skin. And when you’re done for the day, take a moment to appreciate what you’ve accomplished, even if it’s just a little. Every step forward is a victory.
    Remember, you’re not just a man with a mission. You’re the Man With No Name. You’ve got the toughness to see this through. So, tip your hat, take a swig of your favorite drink, and get ready for the next challenge.

    It looks like the portico is drooping significantly. Now that the foundation work is done, you might want to put in a couple of temporary posts to hold that up if you are keeping it. If it will be removed, maybe go ahead and do that in a controlled manner rather than letting it take part of the wall with it when it falls.

    New subscriber, love your series, so glad i found it. Question, tho...... how would those trees in any way impact the lines that are across the road?...I'm not getting why the power company wanted them trimmed? Also, why then didn't you cut down the bigger one that's still overhanging a fair bit? ...you can see it real good @26:45 ...thanks !

    • @99Projects
      @99Projects  3 місяці тому

      Its to close to the lines that will run overhead. Anything that was left on that tree was left because it was not in the way

    Electric cars have different batteries than gas cars, el-cars have lithium-ion, gas cars have lead acid batteries, both have - and + about them. I have never had any problems with my lead acid batteries, they last 10-15 years + for me if i dont use them wrong.

    • @99Projects
      @99Projects  3 місяці тому +1

      I mean what’s using them wrong? There in trucks and equipment to start them and their always dead. If I was using it has a hammer I guess I could understand but they sit there with one job and their junk.

      @@99Projects Lead acid batteries fail in so many different ways, it is hard to list them all. I live in a desert and guarantee that I have to replace the battery every year. Getting a LION battery jump starter is simplest solution, you can charge it off of wall outlet, or even from a running vehicle and they will start a dead car like a charm

    It doesn’t charge unless you are driving fast enough. It only drains if driving less than 10 miles an hour.

      The alternator is charging all the time, the regulator rectifier regulates the charging, I don’t think it has anything to do with speed
