That man got me fired from a security job at a poly clinic... I had no idea it wasn't actually pronounced diabeetus until I delivered some mail to the clinic there was a room full of obese women who did not like the pronunciation 😂
I got censured by Facebook for quoting that. lol They thought (even though I put it in quotes and spelled it like you did) I was making threatening remarks.
@octagonseventynine1253 Yup. Kills me they never did for Escape From LA, even when Shout put out a new edition a few years back. They spend a big portion of the Big Trouble commentary talking about their sons' Little League games.
1:24 You can hear Kurt pouring what probably is the real source of the laughters. I think that's actually common because I listened to a lot of movie commentaries and one thing that strikes me is that everybody who does it seems extremely laid back so I think they have some beer or wine or maybe even champagne when they do this. On a side note in my opinion the best commentary is from Sylvester Stallone in Rocky because it made me realize how smart and profound that man truly was and how he integrated many aspects of his life in the movie it makes the movie so wholesome.
@@shigermuleye5203 Just in case you wanna know: I got it with the Rocky 40th Anniversary Collection. It comes with Rocky I up to Rocky Balboa ( six films ) The sequels included didn't have much content however. But it was worth it just for the content in the first film.
Robert Rodriquez always seems very prepared for his commentary tracks, he always writes down notes in beforehand and there is never a moment of silence from him. Which cannot be said about every person who does solo commentary tracks.
Thank you for understanding that The Thing is cosmic horror. I don't think any other film ever came close to representing the genre so well. But maybe I'm overlooking something.
I find that I laugh a lot during this movie. I don't consider it a comedy, but once you've seen something so many times you laugh out of happiness at scenes. It just brings you joy to relive how great it is. Some of it is pretty damn funny though.. lol
That's how every movie is. That's why they all get turned into drinking games. You're anticipating the moment you've seen a thousand times and you know all the mistakes and goofs. Love watching old movies with friends because someone is always making a wisecrack or inserting funny dialog to take a moment out of context.
Nauls's introductory scene kills me every single time (roller skating into the room during an autopsy and theorizing "maybe we at war with Norway" with a slight head swivel) and I've never been able to parse if it's intentional comedy or not
You can just tell that Kurt and John are good friends, and respect each other immensely. This is one of the best commentary tracks ever. Making a film with Kurt and John would be such a great time.
Whenever I say the name Kurt Russell, it's always immediately followed by "the greatest actor of this, or any, generation." I'll watch just about anything he's in because he's just that good.
February of 1983 was an ice cold day in Oklahoma City. We had just got back from our traditional Sunday meal at the Hunan Chinese restaurant and settled on the sofa and came across "The Thing" just starting on cable. Nobody had seen it, but everyone LOVED Kurt Russell so we got comfy. It was a wonderfully unique movie experience for all of us, truly special.
I saw this movie when I was like 5 or 6. I as cool with everything I had seen in the movie, up until that dude's head fell off...that really fucked my shit up...but everything after that was cool too. 😂
One of my favorite comments from Carpenter during this commentary is where Snake is kind of lost, wondering what to do next and he just sits down in a chair and thinks for a minute. Carpenter said that they just made that up in the moment and just simply says, "That's filmmaking guys." No pretensions or bullshit. Just make it work and have fun.
@@TheDisturbedKiwi Yes he was, MacReady was a pilot in 'Nam, then when he got out went to be a trucker going by the alias Jack Burton. After the events in California he decided to go back to flying joining up with Hughes and then when they got bought out by GM he went to work for the government in the Antarctic. After what happened at Outpost 31 MacReady was mustered into service by the government to do specops to avoid the public finding out about the more weird stuff in the world, at that time he acquired the codename Snake which is what he was called in Escape From New York
I forgot how infectious Kurt's laugh is. While they're laughing off at this magnificent, terrifying project, us fans were shitting our pants at the absurdity.
My favorite thing from the commentary was after the first explosion where Kurt mentions his reaction shot was "2 days later" and he laughs really hard. But I think the best part is when Kurt picks up a flashlight at 0:54 and Carpenter says "we don't know why you find that flashlight" like eternally just picking apart the movie even though it's a masterpiece.
0:54 “I don’t know why you find that flashlight” I’m now going to notice this scene forever. Why did he??? Like it’s not the most critical thing, but it was just kinda out in the snow on a box and he found it? So strange and now, hilarious
If you listen to the whole thing they’re definitely drinking some sort of booze out of crystal glasses. You can also hear smokes being lit. (They both like to smoke)
If you ever smoked bong for a period of time you know that was 100% a bong being smoked hahaha. This is glorious, I just watched it high in 4k and now on YT to further indulge. Awesome the creators also get high when watching it :)
Love the director and leading actor of one of the best horror films of all time reacting to their own movie like 2 stoned college students watching a campy horror B movie.
Kurt laughing his ass off is so hilarious!! His the best one of my favourite actors growing up!! His movies where always fun. Something missing in too many films today!!
The Thing is one of my All-Time Favorite and in my Opinion is one of the Best Horror Movie 🤘😎 I really love how much Fun John Carpenter and Kurt Russell had with this Movie ❤👍
Kurt reminds me of a character called Mike from this one episode in bbc comedy series 'I'm Alan partridge ' who just constantly laughs anytime someone says something '
I've been a Kurt fan my entire life since I first saw him 'Follow Me Boys' and 'The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes' back in the 1960s. He just seems to be good no matter what he appears in. It would be a treat to hear this entire reaction.

They did escape from New York too and Big Trouble In Little China that I know of
