Good riddance to this - now vile - organization!🥂🙌🥳
The BBC have got so used to getting £billions without having to earn it, they’re reluctant to change something that works so well for them.
Like the civil service and council employees.
How can someone 'refuse' to pay for something they don't have to?
I refuse to pay for Disney+ too because I don't watch it.
Or don't use, don't need, dont want.
Keep it going. The more the merrier. Defunding the BBC is draining part of the swamp.
I expect that pompous Hew Edwards is still off sick on the pay roll....😐
@@Lookup2Wakeup For some reason I don't think he will be back.
@@Nickle314 Don't be to sure, it's the BBC. Look at Savile.
@@xxxx-ep1tj He's senstive. People are going to be ripping him a new one daily
Many people argue that the BBC is advert free, but actually they broadcast adverts to promote their own products in between each program.
While the BBC may be advert free , it certainly isn’t propaganda free .
They don't get an income from those 'self-adverts'.
@@Thurgosh_OG they are advertising their far left woke propaganda.
@@Thurgosh_OG A fair point but to the viewer they are still annoying and not wanted. I like to avoid all adverts whether commercial or just marketing of the channel.
@@Thurgosh_OG Don't be so nieve.
9 months license free. Best decision ever
Well done... I'm 5yrs free... just ignore the letters 😂
20 year for me 😂
@@nikfranczuk1134 I'm only 15yrs behind you 😂
The tv licence is like a bad book, once you put it down you don't want to pick it up!
Taking this one step further, make it a library book you took back as its rubbish - the library don't for some reason keep sending you letters asking if you've read the book again or ask you every two years if you wanted to take the book out again!
Looks like this is begining to snowball !!!
Let's face it, what struggling household is going to pay £159 when they cannot afford food, gas, electric etc?
And that price is due to increase too.
But the Problem with putting the TV tax on your Council Tax , Payslip or Broadband bill is choice !!
Am not paying for something I DON'T use or WANT to use .... That is wrong on sooooo many levels !
A good response to goons asking questions is to say that you've seen enough letters to know your address is being investigated. As such, you can't comment on a live investigation. It's what polititians etc. always say because they don't want to give answers.
Or just say no thanks and shut the door 😊
@@laceandwhisky Yep, that works too.
🤣
Jon it's not an evasion rate. If you don't require a licence you're not evading anything.
The report refers to millions of "people" not paying the licence fee but do they mean households? I hope they do. That would mean even fewer people watching the BBC and its politically biased and shoddy output.
The only time I watch TV is when I'm in the pub and it's still crap after the many beers that have dulled my senses 🍻🍻🍻🍻
If you don't watch live TV or BBC you don't need a licence, that's no evasion that avoidance. Many more people need to avoid paying the licence fee and save themselves £££
It's not even avoidance. It's just not needing to buy one.
Boycotting the Beeb! Think J Saville cover-up.
I cancelled mine today. I just don’t watch enough live TV to warrant the cost. Happy to disconnect the aerial and watch stuff online
I don't need to either because even when we had a TV licence we were paying TV licence I didn't watch TV.
Mostly I watch and listen to UA-cam with great channels such as this one. Also I prefer listening to podcasts and reading. There is so much great content overall that I don't have time to watch it all. Certainly wouldn't make sense for me to pay TV licence for something I don't even use.
What's interesting is people won't go back.
So what are they going to cook up to replace the money?
My view is they want to move to a no right of consent model where you are forced to pay
@@Nickle314 I agree with you. The way it's going for them and people making the rational decision not to pay then it's their only way to deal with it.
@@Nicole-Faith Its interesting that its a very set up where we have consent when it comes to the state.
The idea, we are ruled by consent is an out and out lie.
When we have that rare right, people say no.
So what do I conclude from that. That we need the right of explicit informed consent in law.
Politicians when asked say no. That's also why so many end up as the defendant in the dock in sex cases.
A smart politician would realise, more consent means they only do what people want them to do, and that makes their position stronger.
As it stands, I predict before I depart this world, they will be dangling on short ropes.
Same here. It's mindless rubbish. I got sick of watching the brain numbing crap in 2018
@@Nickle314we already have the right to informed consent for medical treatments, it's been in place since Nuremberg trials.
Unfortunately it's ignored and people are too ignorant to understand.
They have to explain ALL the side effects and explain that you don't have to get any treatment you don't want, without being treated differently from others.
Now imagine if they said at the jabbattoirs, 1 in 35 people getting myocarditis and no one can force you to get it.
Oh well, you can't fix gullable/stupid but you can euthanase it by instalments 😮
Not had a licence for almost 4 year's. £60 refund when I cancelled direct debit. 👍
I still get hassled but that's fine. A No thank you sends them off.
I don't miss it at all! In fact I bet people would struggle to name a decent program?
News propaganda lies was the main reason for my cancellation.
I'm much happier without 😊
Became license free for a year at the end of August, haven't heard a peep from TVL all year and have to say I am disappointed they didn't send me a "birthday card" at the end of August.
I believe that if you declare you do not need one, they leave you alone for about 2 years, then the letters start arriving at a rate of about 1 each month.
If Labour get in they will Renew BBC CHARTER
Some will watch live as shown TV or iPlayer but not have a TV licence, some might even have Sky or Virgin media subscriptions and openly watch live TV channels without a licence. A friend moved into a house that has a satellite dish on the front of it and he doesn't have a licence. He's had 4 goon visits in the 5 years he's being in the property and he never answers the door to them, he replies through his video doorbell saying he's in Spain and his deaf mother is there but cannot hear anyone knocking at the door or using the video doorbell. One goon asked when he would be back so he could call again and he said 9 months as he was going to Portugal for three months then to the USA for another three months, all the time he was sat in his living room.
Class! 🤣🤣🤣
The beauty of this is there's no turning back, don't pay don't engage 🇬🇧
If I don't need a TV licence - FACT - then I am not evading anything. To quote the OED, "evade v. To escape or avoid ... to escape paying tax." That is to circumvent, dodge, elude, shirk, or sidestep. If I don't need to pay for a TV licence because I do not do anything that would attract a need to, then I have, at worst, avoided the levy.
Evade = due to pay but don't. Avoid = not due to pay, have no liability.
If I want the government in my living room I'll get an Alexa.
I live on an island in the Andaman Sea. I watch BBC - and around 100 other channels via cable TV. The cost is around 70 pounds/year.
I wouldn't accept being paid £159 a year to watch only 15 hours of it.
You can find 15 hours of 'entertainment' in a year, how? Wow!!!
I love this...we're trying to do the same in Ireland
If people are daft enough to pay it, let them.
In the US, our Public Broadcasting System receives 15% of its funding from the federal government. Most of the rest of its income is from private and corporate donations (which are tax deductible). Between programs there may be advertising from sponsoring organizations, but they don't interrupt programs for ads like in commercial TV. Perhaps the BBC needs to follow the US example.
Interestingly PBS is an infinitely better TV channel than the BBC . On PBS you actually get interesting and educational programs. All you get on the BBC is propaganda and lazy ( to put out ) sports .
Given that licence numbers have been falling at approx. 70,000 every month for the past year or so, where does this 360,000 number come from? it should be more like 800,000.
I'm guessing the lower number is for the households who've _declared_ they don't need a licence. The higher number is overall households who've stopped paying for it.
"Claim" is probably right in a lot of cases. One should always find a way not to obey a bad law!
i dont have a tv license for the same reason i dont not have car insurance or road tax, legally i dont need them.
TV LICENSE FREE SINCE 2007.
Let’s be honest here, nobody needs to pay the £160 TV licence, it is unenforceable. All these threatening, letters, fake detector vans and imprisonment are just bollocks. As long as you don’t admit it and shut the door on them 🖐there is sod all they can do. Even with a court order, it can only prove you have a TV 📺, so what, not what you watch. 👀
This is the best way to deal with the TV licence. Don’t watch it. Don’t pay for it.
If it is done away with it’ll go onto direct taxation and nobody will be able to avoid it.
like france
How can they tax you on a service, you don't use. You would not pay for car tax, if you did not own a car.
Can’t be done there would be an uproar it’s like going in Asda but paying for someone else’s shopping in Morrisons just won’t happen
@@carllockpick6179Exactly
I don't want to see it. It's rubbish
Beg and borrow? They've only ever threatened me.. Hollow threats 😂😂😂
A lot of people just dont watch TV any more. They are busy doing other stuff, or get all their TV via streaming.
Your doing a fine job you give the public a chance to cancel there tv liecance I think we are all owed 1000s of pounds rebate 😂🎉
I think if in 2027 the UK Gov are pushed into a corner with the BBC stating that the Income from License fee isn't enough then they might just choose the easier option and slap it onto everyone's council tax Bill which will also effect the UK Gov because of low income families don't pay Council Tax which might help it be push onto something else like force us all to pay indirectly through VAT. Someone with access to a big Audience should do a UK Gov petition stating we don't want a future payment system to force people to pay directly (Council Tax) or indirectly (VAT) for the TV License.
Thats what happened in France. Macron got lots of votes because he said he would scrap their tv licence. He did but increased VAT to make up for it. So now everyone pays for it, the tv channel still gets its amount and the rest is 'profit' for Macron to spend.
@@Thurgosh_OG We need to get a UK Gov petition for a referendum on this started by the likes of the Channel etc and he needs to speak to the Blackbelt barrister to word it so that the UK Gov doesn't do a dodgy like the French did, needs to be something like 1.) keep the current TV License model with the BBC getting less and less each year from people deciding they don't watch Live TV etc. 2.) TV License to shrink over 5 years and to be supplemented via advertising and per per view specials so that its stands on it sown 2 feet like the ITV does. With an addendum Not to be paid for by Council Tax or VAT or any other forced taxation method to cover the BBC License.
Why don't the BBC just do advertising like most other channels?
I still wont watch any of it even if I'm paying towards it, its the public enemy and I wont have anything to do with it, its seriously harmed the UK and cannot be trusted.
I'm one of the 2.8m. No interest in live TV, or iplayer. I'll never give the BBC another penny.
Part of me wants the TV licence to stay ,i don't have a good feeling about where it could end up , then we could be completely screwed ,at least we can dodge it at the moment and opt out if we wish to, and i feel in some form or another it will be with us , sorry i'm not to optimistic about this. The Tv Licence feels like a scam to me .
I dont watch tv, but i would almost support its funding if they didn't act like Birmingham city council !

I think at the last minute the government will make it a tax which can't be avoided.
They'll definitely do that!
They definitely want to do that.
However, they probably will not do anything at all until 2027, when the current Royal Charter expires. By then, it is not impossible that over 20% of households will have stopped paying. That will make it increasingly difficult to justify putting it on to taxation.
This is what will happen, and it will all end in tears.
Is there a tax that cannot be avoided by every householder, apart from VAT on food and other items? No doubt some even know how to avoid that or somehow claim it back.
Like others have said
Keep going
I won’t pay it I watch u tube 😊
Keep up the good work and welcome back
We have been licence free since 2014 [legitimately]. The thought of the BBC considering adding a levy to council tax has to be illegal and is repulsive. If you use it, pay for it, if you don't, don't. This is not like the NHS where we all pay in case we need them like an insurance policy. This is the State Broadcaster that the government should fund directly from general taxation. We all pay eventually but if it is from general taxation and with governmental control over budgets then those who do not earn enough to pay tax will not be disproportionately affected. This will certainly not affect the so called "independence" of the BBC!
In Australia tv is free, no licience required. That's right you don't get charged for watching fake msm news, advertisements with lgbtq & all the alphabet gang, movies featuring the alphabet gang, reality TV featuring the alphabet gang, soapies featuring the alphabet gang & BS climate change documentaries featuring climate change chumps & the alphabet gang. Australians should charge the TV companies massive fees to watch their BS programmes. I think its coming to that soon.
The word you should use is Avoid, not Evade. Evade implies criminality to not pay
Not needed one since 2006. Over £2,000.00 better off. Stopped telling the annoying mail I was not going to pay, I just paste a label,
"UNSOLICITED MAIL - RETURN TO SENDER", over the address panel.
Returning a letter costs a postage fee I was told, so a double whammy against the antagonist.
Ive never felt so good since ive stopped watching the MSM.altogether
I am very nervous that this 'fight' will result in the TV licence being put on Electric/Broadband bills (like in Europe) then everyone will have to pay it.
May-be we should just be quiet and keep our heads down for the ones who are not needing to pay it now. 🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐
JON i think your advice is great am i right no address no warrant if they dont have name
similar situation.. recently divorced.. went out on date and was shocked at the prices. 15 quid for two drinks!
I've just received a letter addressed to the registered owner of the property saying am I going to be at home on the 21st of September so they can pay me a visit? I went online to tell them I don't need a licence, they said if I watch UA-cam I need a license? I didn't bother telling them 😅
You don't need a licence to watch UA-cam or video content from any site for that matter unless it's live content from a TV service.
One of the many letters I receive from them said they were going to call on such & such a date, waited in all day as I wanted to tell them to F off, they didn’t turn up, should I bill them for my wasted time?
@@barneybiggles It's just a nonsense intimidation tactic and very misleading, but they always cover themselves by using terms like _may visit_ and _or another day._
The BBC don't advertise? Wait until Apple releases something new...
We do not watch or record live tv so we don't need a licence. we never watched it anyway :)
Even the 36 million letters per year is only 3 million homes getting letters, that's assuming that each property gets 12 letters per year. Some addresses don't get 12 letters per year so that would make more than 3 million homes are licence free that they send letters too. Then there are the addresses that declare they don't require a licence, I would love to know how many NLR declarations are made every year.
The last figure I had for licences in force was 24.8 million but that includes hotels, guest houses, HMO's and single residency homes, I bet if you took the hotels and guest houses off the list it would drop by a couple of million at least.
I've had 8 letters this year, they normally arrive within the first week of the next month but have the previous months date on the letter, so I receive a letter in Feb but it's dated Jan.
I got twenty four letters in 24 months but it has all stopped now 🎉🎉🎉
Inspired by your videos I decided stop watching live broadcast TV and it's been about 15 years since I last recorded anything. I can easily live without it and BBC iplayer. I phoned the 0300 about three weeks ago to tell them I no longer require a TV Licence. All the questions and checks etc took 16 minutes costing me just over £4 in phone charges. I then had to go online to request a refund, it took less than 2 weeks to reach my bank account. I have already received a letter saying I should contact them to verify I don't need a TV Licence, oh and even if I do contact them they still might send someone to my door to check.
I won't be engaging with them any further!
It's simple maths as time passes. My parents pay the licence and think bbc is the oracle of truth and impartiality. They are in their 80s.
I, on the other hand don't need a tv licence (just watch yt). I have 4 kids none of which are bothered at all about broadcast channels. They watch and pay for netflix, prime or Disney. They will never need or pay the licence even if programming improves because that not relevant to their age group. Going commercial will not save it. The only way is a forced media tax ... which I reckon will happen before long. 😢
Why don't they just advertise like other channels?
At some point there will be a tipping point where it becomes unenforceable as it will become non-cost effective to chase everybody, as happened with the old Radio Licence. As a retired person I would rather it went on the payslip, but that would help other retired people. BUT BEST OF ALL, BBC go subscription
The BBC don't worry about cost efficiency though....
My TV seems to work just fine without a tv licence.
This is what the bbc does. I noticed it a few years ago. They use code words. They use words that "tell you" to react in a particular way.
Just had my first ever visit from a goon. He introduced himself and said "Our records show you don't have a TV licence". I said "I don't need one thanks". He said "Do you mind if I come in and check if you do need one?" I said "No I don't want you to come in". He said "We will keep coming back until you let one of us in". I said "OK" and shut the door. How did I do?
There is a law called estoppel which says if you are given something you don’t have to give it back if you are asked to therefore the Tv licence GIVEN to pensioners is none returnable !
If only. Unfortunately those given licenses had an expiry date, which was in fact still honoured.
All the young people will not pay. They don't watch live TV ever.
Good, the BBC cannot be trusted, its the enemy of the working class.
I got rid of my set top box and don’t watch any television. I have a smart speaker and use the radio off that. I do sometimes put a DVD on to watch or have a look on UA-cam. Television can take over your life, with radio you can do other things like cook a meal and washing up.
As long as its not the BBC - simply because every time I put the radio on in the car (usually radio 4) I turn it off in about 45 seconds and vow never again. Just about every item has to have a political, identitarian, LGTBXYZ, refugee or victim narrative. Its incredible how they shoe horn "the message" into *everything*

It already is. I don't subscribe, so I don't pay
Pull the plug and let em swirl
I haven't had a licence for nearly 2 yrs now. No letters or visits. The thing is I would pay say £6.99 a month to watch bbc1 and iPlayer. Why don't they make packages like Sky have. I am sure a lot of non payers would subscribe. I just will not be forced to pay for what I don't use or watch
Looking good
Hell yeah! 😅
I am proud to be one of that number. Drain the swamp.
And just how much does it cost to send out 2.8 million threatening letters every month.
Their finances are open to the public. For TV licence collection they spent £15.8 million in postage in the 2021/2022 financial year, so that would be about £1.32 million per month.
That's just postage, not the cost of producing the letters themselves.
Always put "UNSOLICITED MAIL - RETURN TO SENDER" on the demand letter! It will cost them.
That's not the case at all. Unopened letters returned to sender with a legitimate reason, as in delivered to the wrong address or no such person at this address, are returned without charge.
Opened letters or letters without a legitimate reason to be returned, without postage paid by the sender, the returnee has the option to pay the postage themselves or refuse the delivery.
I can only imagine TVL refusing the delivery.
@@stevegee8010 Unsolicited advertising as in this case though?
This will never be taken from the payslip. Who pays in a multi-working-adult household? Who's going to demand this from my self employed income?
It will not be a separate item on the payslip. It will be taken from the over all figure in tax you pay.
It's what happens in Sweden, everyone pays for it from income tax now instead of 1 person per household. 1% of income up to 1,300SEK (About £100 currently). There's no getting out of it then, and ends up getting forgotten about that you pay for it.
Good news until the government charges a levy on broadband instead, the people can't allow that to happen.
So are there people out there who still pay the TV licence?
I know you have stated when and when not to have a license but rather than fall foul of the law, can you please state EXACTLY what you can and cannot do. Thanks.
I don't pay any license fee as I live in Cyprus .
We have nine terrestrial channels one of them being the national broadcaster and still we pay no fee .

Hey all. I only exclusively watch UA-cam. I don't watch any TV. Can I stop paying the license fee???? 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
You only require a licence if you download with BBC iPlayer or watch or record live content from any TV service, regardless of the content delivery method. So as long as you don't watch live content from a TV service on UA-cam or any other site then you'll be legally licence free.
@@stevegee8010 Thanks so much 🙏
IF it gets added to the council tax, you COULD withhold that amount.
IF it gets added to your broadband bill, you can't because you simply get disconnected and IF your phone is done through broadband services, as BT is eliminating "land lines" soon, then you cannot phone, pay bills by on line banking, and this is another way to simply cancel anyone who doesn't watch the sodding BBC.
Mind, you, IF you cannot pay bills, etc, and you don't have a connection service, how will companies contact you to tell you... Snail mail ?
It's a very narrow end of a massively wide wedge.
