    Question for Mike: TM driver quality control is hmmm, in this video if this customer is fitted for Stealth plus 9 degree head, do you check the head specs? Because the raw head they shipped out to dealer usually is not exact 9 degree square. Some could be 8.8 with 3 degree face open, some could be 10 degree with 4 degree face open. 2 degree face open can change the deliver loft much lower, so in TXG, the top tier fitting centre in the world, how do you offset those influence to make sure the club built match exactly the specs for the customer? Thank you!

    Love the behind the scenes in the build shop! If a customer wanted this exact same setup with 1 wrap at D3 swingweight , how are you achieving that build? Can you explain how you would achieve? Do you use back weighting in the grip to make it more counterbalanced?

    • @irod97
      @irod97 2 роки тому

      Since the Stealth weights are adjustable you could also drop the head weight. Otherwise you would back weight it. You would need about 4g less on the head or on the end of the shaft.

    One thing I’m curious about. The connection system that Club Champion uses is on the heavy side making swing weights usually in the high D’s. So do your customers end up on the heavier side swing weight wise since Mike said they match specs or do you put a lighter weight in the dead if it’s adjustable to get back to a more reasonable SW ?

    LONG BUT READ, ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN PING. ARE YOUR IRONS RIGHT???
    Great vid. I’ll give my horror story. March 9 I was fit for irons, ordered new Ping I525 irons, love em. Received 3 weeks later and unboxed. In box was clubs and 1 small little tag, and tag said my last name, model, lie, and retro….thats it!!! I ordered 1 degree weak, so i would think there would be a spec sheet showing quality control and specs, actual lofts…nope. I immediately questioned that and called PGA superstore where fit and ordered. They assured me this is sadly the way Ping does it, only company that doesnt provide spec sheet on custom bends. They told me they dont have any problems with ping and tag said retro because they adjusted weak and that means retro no matter weak loft tweaks. Ok i said, its ping, they gotta be correct.
    Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. Weather finally broke and got out. Windy as hell, so hard to tell, but some clubs seemed off. Days later played again and windy as hell again, but this time i really questioned some clubs, horrible gapping and short. Finally beautiful day few days ago and got out. OH MY!!! Clubs distances and gapping are butchered. Old clubs, 175 7 iron. New clubs 1 weak of old and cant hit 160 without swinging out of shoes. Easily 10-12 yards short of expected distance. 9 iron same, cant hit 150 swinging like im possesed. Took them to local pro of 25+ yrs after round and we put on loft and lie vice. Lies all good, 1/8 degree or less if off at all, maybe 1-2 clubs.
    Heres the loft fun we found from Ping!!!!
    What they are suppose to be, what they are.
    4 // 22 -- 24.5
    5 // 25 -- 26.5
    6 // 28 -- 30
    7 // 31.5 -- 33
    8 // 36 -- 38
    9 // 41 -- 44.5
    P // 46 -- 48
    Zero consistency. 2 - 6.5 dregrees!!!
    Basically have 2 5 irons and 2 wedges and whatever in between.
    How on earth can you get butchery so bad from such a big reputable company?
    Needless to say many calls were immediately made and clubs went in mail today. Ping said they will immediately move to front of line and be lofted correctly with a digital machine, no human error, like they do for pros. Why arent all their clubs done that way, and how many ppl got new clubs that are wrong and they will never know because they may not know their yardages and gaps like i do?? PGASS also emailed me a 2 day air label for quicker service and said ping told them 1 week. I am having them shipped to PGASS and demanded they check lofts before they send to me. Any issues and i no longer own Ping, and they agreed. I do hope all will be rectified and Ping was very apologetic. Sweet clubs in fitting for sure. Not 1 thing i dont love.
    If you own new Pings, any model, that are custom spec, pay attention. Consistent yards? Consistent gapping? I guarantee im not the only one to get wrong specs. Have them checked, dont settle for less than what you paid for. Hope this may help any others out if they sense issues.

      Go to 'Radar at PING HQ: Ep 1' and jump to 2 minutes 50 seconds. Its very technical in the 'laboratory' as radar calls it - and he missed with the first blow of the hammer which doesn't inspire confidence. For the cost of a set of irons from Ping you could build a set from Golfworks and get your own loft/lie machine with the change.

      @krusher74 2 роки тому

      won't ruin it at all, i have done it to my own drivers. You must cut the butt only. cutting 1/4" off shaft length will lower the clubs swing weight 1.5 swingweights. so to get it back to the original you would need to add 2g to ther head per swing weight lost, 1.5 x2 = 3gram. you can either add 3g or lead tape, or fit a head weight that's 3grams heavier.

    So we weighed all the components but what was ever done to try and match the desired SW? In Ryan Barath’s build videos from years gone by, I believe he weighed the epoxy. Does the weight of the grip tape negate the weight of the epoxy?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  2 роки тому +1

      Weighting the epoxy was only to make sure you get the proper mix ratio for part A and B - not for swing weighting purposes. The great thing about using the pre-ratio'd tubes like the one in the video is you don't need to worry about that, just mix.
