"LOG" is fantastic, but I would have said "Communique", one of those albums that has to be listened to on vinyl or cassette. Supertramp and Steely Dan, absolutely.

I totally agree with you, Pete. One's "comfort food" album from an artist does not have to be the artist's best album at all! Sometimes it IS just an album that's pleasant and conjures up good feels.
Wucan “Heretic Tongues” so freaking good! It’s like Tony Iommi never left Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson is a kickass female singer Rolling Stones “Tattoo You” Dave Gilmour “On an Island” somewhere between chill out and feel good Paul Simon “Graceland” The Who “Who’s Next” The Beatles “Abbey Road” particularly the Suite and the Harrison stuff Speaking of Tull, “Minstrel in the Gallery.” You know that unbelievably depressing song that makes you feel better anyway? One White Duck is that song for me Pink Floyd “Momentary Lapse of Reason.” Not a great record but I was 12 when it came out and I played the grooves off it once I had tickets to see them in the old Foxboro Stadium Joe Bonamassa “Dust Bowl” Styx “The Grand Illusion”
Todd - Todd Rundgren Modern Music - Be Bop Deluxe Young Americans - David Bowie Innervisions - Stevie Wonder Apostrophe - Frank Zappa Country Life - Roxy Music Speaking in Tongues - Talking Heads The Seeds of Love- Tears for Fears The Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow Kamikiriad - Donald Fagen Like Pete, this took me back to a warm and fuzzy place. A testament to the power of music. Nice one, SOT!
You've included some great albums there including Modern Music, super album which is my second favourite BBD album after Futurama which I've included in my list. Country Life is my favourite Roxy Music album, just love every track!

I actually made two lists a couple of months ago where I analyzed which albums I put on when I'm feeling good or down in the dumps. One or two actually made both lists. In no particular order: #1 ABBA Voulez - Vous Always got time for them, especially this album! Ain't nothin' like coming home from a long train trip, freshen up and crank up some ABBA! #2 Jackson Browne - Holdout Any Jackson Browne is fine with me, but this album in particular, starting with Disco Apocalypse and featuring Call it a loan, one of his best songs. The first time I listened to it there was rain and it was a stressful day but this turned around my mood. #3 Steve Winwood - Arc of a Diver One of the best albums I've ever heard, similar style to Browne: Breezy, Rock / Pop / Soul numbers with lots of piano and good grooves and intelligent lyricism. #4 The Beatles A Hard Days Night As much as I love the later stuff oftentimes I cite this as my favourite Beatles album. You can dance it to it, walk a couple miles, do chores... #5 Iron Savior Firestar I'm rather particular when it comes to Power Metal, but the second I heard the title track I just knew this album will be a special one. Actually made it very high on my year end list, I think 3rd or 4th place. One of their best! #6 Patti Smith Group - Wave Whereas Horses is also very high on my alltime favourite albums list, it's too poetic and abstract. Radio Ethiopia is too dark, and Easter is too complex musically for counting as a feel good album. This however features some unused Blue Öyster Cult songs, of course "Frederick", "Dancing Barefoot", and one which is always a good time: "So you want to be a rock'n'roll" #7 Camel - Moonmadness Although Prog not does not always comes to mind, this Camel album in particular is just a joy to listen too. Sometimes you're not all energized but still content and this is the perfect soundtrack for that. #8 Jean Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean Breezy, but still uplifting fusion of the highest class. I don't have to say much about it. More than words, literally in this case of an instrumental album! #9 The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky Similar to Camel, whereas I might prefer their prog leanings of the earlier albums I don't mind their synthesizer pop years at all, and on this one you've got a couple fiery guitars still and just melodies to melt away to. #10 Buddy Holly - Buddy Holly Always got time for 50s Rock'n'Roll, with Buddy Holly being a secondary favourite next to Chuck Berry. Songs such as Peggy Sue, Everyday, Words of Love and Rave on are legendary for a reason. I actually discovered him via the Beatles, believe it or not.
Mine are either albums that are super fun to sing along to or albums that just kick my ass (which feels good sometimes too!) The Beatles-A Hard Day's Night Big Star-Radio City Faith No More-Angel Dust The Who-Live at Leeds Iron Maiden-Powerslave Blue Oyster Cult-Secret Treaties Ween-The Mollusk The Jam-All Mod Cons Death-Human The Kinks-The Village Green Preservation Society
Great topic Pete! Mine in no particular order: 1. Van Halen - Van Halen 2. Elton John - Madman Across The Water 3. AC/DC - Back In Black 4. Journey - Infinity 5. Heart - Dog & Butterfly 6. Styx - Crystal Ball 7. Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic 8. Sweet - Desolation Boulevard 9. Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak 10. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivors These all put a big smile on my face to this day and some are attached to memories as a teenager.
My ten "feel good" albums: 01 - Tangerine Dream "Logos" (because I was at that concert and it brings back great memories) 02 - Uriah Heep "The Magician's Birthday" 03 - Slade "In Flame" 04 - Queen "Sheer Heart Attack" 05 - Eloy "Visionary" 06 - T.Rex "The Slider" 07 - Sparks "Propaganda" 08 - Status Quo "Quo Live" 09 - UFO "Strangers In The Night" 10 - Frank Zappa "Sheik Yerbouti"
@@noheamike5036 I have only seen them twice also - the "Logos" tour was the "classic" line up of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Johannes Schmoelling, and I saw them once more in the early 90's when Edgar Froese's son was in the band. They were great both times but I haven't listened to their music since the sad passing of Edgar Froese in 2015 - it wouldn't be the same without him, though I hope they continue to enjoy success going forward.
1. Kyuss - Sky Valley 2. Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction - Tattooed Beat Messiah 3. The Beatles - Abbey Road 4. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew 5. Sabbat - History Of A Time To Come 6. Excellent choices Pete! I want to add one for me and it's the Toy Matinee album! I loved it when it came out but it came back into my life a couple years ago and I appreciate it so much more now the players are stellar and I mow my yard every week to it while dancing lol. Not anything that anyone who knows me thinks I would like but there ya go. I love it!

Pete, this just might be my favourite SoT instalment ever. Your love of the music comes through with such sincerity and joy. Thank you for all you do. Here are ten of mine, from my junior high years, when music meant discovery and the world, at least my little Canadian corner of it, felt like a friendlier place. Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy Run With the Pack - Bad Company Fulfillingness' First Finale - Stevie Wonder Katy Lied - Steely Dan Venus and Mars - Wings Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy - Elton John Fresh - Sly and the Family Stone Searchin' for a Rainbow - Marshall Tucker Band That's the Way of the World - Earth, Wind & Fire Selt-titled ("White Album") - Fleetwood Mac
These albums (or songs on them) exude positivity, and it totally makes sense that Paul McCartney was first in your list and we see him in the comments here, too. And thanks for highlighting that Utopia album, I’ve been wondering where to start after their debut!
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith Bryan Adams - maybe Reckless Journey - Escape Van Halen - maybe Van Halen (not my fave, but VH sure is feel good) Depeche Mode - maybe Black Celebration
I used to play drums in a black/heavy metal-ish band and had a whole sort of day ritual to prepare, or "psych myself up" for doing a show. It would involve listening to at least some albums that made me feel sort of primed and, well, good. One of those was always Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but the others often weren't metallic music as such but groovy, "rhythmic" albums that made me feel charged and really great about playing the drums, like Can's Ege Pamyasi and, indeed, jeff Beck's Blow by Blow. For a while there I was living with a partner who didn't at all understand why I "psyched myself up" with albums like that and I think would have preferred something more in line with the heaviness to come. Tried to explain to her that the albums made me feel good and like I needed to play music and that's why they got me in the vibe.Anyway, great list here. Going for the One is definitely Yes at their more soaring and majestic, and actall, I realy like th demo bonus versions of soe of the songs on the CD, which are quite a bit rawer in an awesome way.
What a great and personal episode Pete! Love it. Some of mine, Steely Dan - Gaucho, Uriah Heep - Magicians Birthday, Poco - Legend, Donald Fagen - Nightfly, BeeGees - Main Course
For me..The Knack--Get the Knack!Played it last night!Excellent power pop!Another..U2--The Unforgettable Fire!Every song..love it!The Replacements--Tim!Brings a smile to my face every time!
Songs from the Wood would be my number one choice and totally agree with Pete about Permanent Waves. Those are my two go-to's when I am feeling blue. I love the Utopia choice. A few songs I go to: 500 Miles by the Proclaimers, She Got Me When She Got Her Dress On by Masters of Reality and Distant Past by Everything Everything.
Some excellent picks Pete! I've never actually sat down and thought about my favorite "feel good" albums, although I have many feel good songs. Most of my favorite albums kinda go up and down and some are downright dark and depressing. So this is what I came up with off the top of my head, in no particular order: 1. The Beatles - Revolver (Obligatory and still an amazing listen today.) 2. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy (Most of the album is pretty upbeat. The Rain Song is slower, but I find it uplifting, beautiful and just plain joyful. The only song with a dark tone is No Quarter. Maybe not "feel good", but I love it. 3. Van Halen - Women and Children First (I'm with ya 100% on this one! This was my first VH album and I played the shit out of it in the Summer of 1980. You didn't mention "In A Simple Rhyme", which is my favorite track and fits this theme perfectly.) 4. Steely Dan - Aja (Every song is winner and I never tire of hearing it.) 5. The Replacements - Let It Be (I had three Replacements albums I could have picked, but this one is probably the most fun. It's funny, it's raw, it rocks, and they even do a cool cover of Kiss' Black Diamond.) 6. Rush - Moving Pictures (My personal favorite Rush album and the songs always take me back to when I first heard them at 15.) 7. Sugar - Copper Blue (One of the best alternative rock/pop albums ever. "If I can't Change Your Mind" is perfection.) 8. Santana - Santana III (The original band at the peak of their powers, a smoking, uplifting set that never lets up.) 9. Souhat - Live At The Black Cat Lounge (I doubt anyone out there ever heard this album, but for anyone that lived in Austin in the early 90's and saw them live, it's just magical and brings back a lot of good memories for me. Maybe you had to be there. Even if you weren't, here's the next best thing. Great, funky jam band.) 10. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes (My favorite Petty album and the deep cuts are just as strong as the hits. Timeless.)
I like this one! Without too much thinking: Journey - Evolution (that's a no brainer: Lovin touchin squeezin, one of the songs that makes me start singing as loud as I can - not very nice for the neighbours) Rush - Rush (because it starts with Yeah, ooh yeah) Arno - Idiots savants (probably no one in the US knows this one 🙂) Ivy - Apartment Life Black Sabbath - Paranoid Buffalo Tom - Let me come over AC/DC - any from Let there be Rock to Highway to Hell - I'll pick Let there be rock Therapy? - Troublegum (now there's a story to this one. In the years when I was at my ultimate low, I used to play this one really loud when I was feeling totally shit, and the aggression of the first seven songs could take away my feelings) John Coltrane - Ole Coltrane Indochine - "3" Something like that. Makes me wanna listen to these once again. Thanks!
I had a warped album that I had to get back to the record store & also save your receipt slip!!!! Also I got Phil Collins "Face Value" album for my birthday on May 5 of 1981 when I turned 16 years old BUT the album had scratches & bumps so my older brother took it back & got the same album & it played great without the you know what!!! Thank the engineers for remastering CD's (which I have the "Face Value" 2 CD set with bonus tracks BUT the 45 single remix version of "In The Air Tonight" is missing)!!! I also got Santana "Zebop!" on album which I also got for my birthday (later bought on remastered CD).
Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan Madman Across the Water - Elton John Lexicon of Love - ABC Country Life - Roxy Music The Captain and Me - Doobie Brothers Headlines and Deadlines - Aha Teaser and the Firecat - Cat Stevens Band on the Run - Wings Quark Strangeness and Charm - Hawkwind Futurama - Be Bop Deluxe Rumours - Fleetwood Mac The Last Record Album - Little Feat There are more but these are some real favourites.
one of my happy feel good albums is my version of Let It Be. like Pete keeps saying, probably not in my top 5 of Beatles albums but I love listening to it the most. 1. Get Back - Past Masters 2. I remember The Polyphonic Spree being insanely uplifting in the early 2000s. I was with someone who had a daughter about 5 years old and we saw them at the V Festival. It was great and happy. Seeing the daughter raving to Chemical Brothers with glo sticks later that day was amazing.
Interesting topic! I’ll give it a try. I’m sure it’ll be way different than my top 10 albums list. I won’t attempt to put them in an order of preference. That would take days. 1. Though 90125 is close Rush - Hold Your Fire (1987) Iron Maiden - Seventh Son… (1988) The Beatles - 1 (2000) A compilation but it’s a true banger from start to finish and basically just gets better and better towards the end!

Nice take on what is a "comfort album." I've watched those other videos and made my list. Of those the ones that fall within your "feel good" take are: (1) An Innocent Man (Billy Joel) reminds me of my teen years, MTV videos. (2) Boston (debut) is another one that reminds me so much of my teen years. From the moment I first heard "More Than a Feeling" on FM radio I knew I needed that LP. Haven't stopped listening to it. (3) New World Record (ELO). This is far more recent. Specifically during the pandemic. I was familiar with ELO but never really deep dived into their discography until the pandemic. Their amazing prog/art pop rock really helped get me through those challenging days.
Right off the top of my head: Anathema - Weather Systems (yeah this album is about life, death, and unrequited love; but god damn is it beautiful!) Rush - Moving Pictures (first Rush album I ever heard, and my dad showed it to me) Electromancer - Drone City (side project of guitarist Paul Wardingham. It combines his style of metal guitar with his love of 80s synth music. More Than Machine is the standout track) Boston - Boston (Come on! How can you not feel good listening to this album?!) Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient (the amazing music. The quirky humor. This album is just fun!)
I always have things that remind me of simpler times...living in south Philly during the mid-'60s/early '70s...Greatest Hits (not my thing, at the time, yes)...TDN's GOLDEN BISCUITS, THE DOORS 13, The Guess Who's GREATEST HITS, SLY's GREATEST HITS, THE HISTORY OF ERIC CLAPTON, early Santana, Hendrix, SCHOOL'S OUT, MACHINE HEAD. Pop stuff, too. I still recall hearing "Kind Of A Drag" in the corner butcher shop, "Undun" in a hoagie store, etc. Great, simpler times!
May i add The Doobie Brothers 'The Captain And Me'. Great album that always gives me joy. I remember playing Long Train Running numerous times in my local pub's juke box. In the end the pub owner just took the single out to give me as he was 'sick to death' of hearing the track. Thumbs up for Steely Dan's 'The Royal Scam'...a perfect album. Even decided to raid the bank account to buy my first, and probably last, UHQR version (costing around £200 here in the U.K)
Personally would go to more mellow/pop type stuff for feel good album. Blizzard of Oz would be one hard rock album that takes me back to the beginning of really listening to the music and guitar and wanting to hear things over and over again. Led Zeppelin IV, as well.

Really enjoyed this thought provoking show - thank you Pete. Here's my feel good choices: Caravan 'The Album' Dexys Midnight Runners 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels' Sassafras 'Wheein' & Dealin' Procol Harum 'Exotic Birds and Fruit' Hatfield and the North 'Afters' Kevin Ayers 'Joy of a Toy' Buzzcocks 'Another Music in a Different Kitchen' Saxon 'Wheels of Steel' The Move 'Shazam!' Marillion 'Holidays in Eden' As you say, not always these artists' best work, but all guaranteed to lift my spirits.
Great video, Pete! Concur on Permanent Waves and Allied Forces! But nothing makes me as happy as Gentle Giant's Free Hand! The title cut still makes me laugh.

Great video. Back to the Egg is IMO the 2nd best Wings album. Women & Children First I can listen to over and over even though I’ve heard it 500x already.
I'm not sure if i have 10 but i certainly have 5! The police- Ghosts in the machine, Boston-Self titled album, Brian May-Last Horizon, Rush- Power Windows and Eric Clapton- Behind the Sun. These albums always warm my heart not just because of nostalgia but also the messages a lot of the music convey being uplifting, motivational and positive.
Thanks for the shout out and THE GRAND ILLUSION very easily could have made my list. Perfect choice.❤
For me, comfort reminds me of good times/nostalgia.

@@augustoamici Agreed.
This must be one of the most underrated bands and those who know them they do it for the wrong reasons. Like Living In Another World...
Mule!!!🍻👍Great album
Great Pie choice!
What you say Pete is very true. It is almost impossible not to tie music to certain moments or periods of our lives.
...certain smells, too, are fantastic triggers. Every so often here (in SE VA), I'll get a whiff & it takes me back to '60s south Philly.
I love it!

Yep, Grease and 1984 should've made my list, good choices!
Women and Children First. Great memories. 1) Did you see juniors grades?, 2) Everybody Wants Some video in the movie Better off Dead with the hamburger playing the classic EVH guitar.
I love your story behind the Van Halen album! Remembering the carefree and fun college days!
I totally agree with you, Pete. One's "comfort food" album from an artist does not have to be the artist's best album at all! Sometimes it IS just an album that's pleasant and conjures up good feels.
Wucan “Heretic Tongues” so freaking good! It’s like Tony Iommi never left Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson is a kickass female singer
Rolling Stones “Tattoo You”
Dave Gilmour “On an Island” somewhere between chill out and feel good
Paul Simon “Graceland”
The Who “Who’s Next”
The Beatles “Abbey Road” particularly the Suite and the Harrison stuff
Speaking of Tull, “Minstrel in the Gallery.” You know that unbelievably depressing song that makes you feel better anyway? One White Duck is that song for me
Pink Floyd “Momentary Lapse of Reason.” Not a great record but I was 12 when it came out and I played the grooves off it once I had tickets to see them in the old Foxboro Stadium
Joe Bonamassa “Dust Bowl”
Styx “The Grand Illusion”
'On an island'. Great choice !
Todd - Todd Rundgren
Modern Music - Be Bop Deluxe
Young Americans - David Bowie
Innervisions - Stevie Wonder
Apostrophe - Frank Zappa
Country Life - Roxy Music
Speaking in Tongues - Talking Heads
The Seeds of Love- Tears for Fears
The Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow
Kamikiriad - Donald Fagen
Like Pete, this took me back to a warm and fuzzy place.
A testament to the power of music.
Nice one, SOT!
You've included some great albums there including Modern Music, super album which is my second favourite BBD album after Futurama which I've included in my list. Country Life is my favourite Roxy Music album, just love every track!
Aye! Re BBD. Probably Futurama, or Sunburst Finish are my faves but in terms of feel good, Modern Music and that was the tour I first saw them too!
Watching this episode made me feel good.
1. Genesis- Invisible Touch
2. Asia

Asia's on my list, and Abba just edged out Arrival to be on my list
None of them for me.
Bright Size Life is an absolute classic. Great pick…makes me happy n relaxed too!
Top ten "feel good" LP's in no particular order, limited to one album per group:
Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti
Jethro Tull- The Minstrel in the Gallery
Genesis- Wind and Wuthering
Emerson Lake and Palmer- Brain Salad Surgery
The Who- Who's Next
Renaissance- Scheherazade
Styx- Crystal Ball
Sugarloaf- Spaceship Earth
Kansas- Masque
Jean Luc Ponty- Enigmatic Ocean
I actually made two lists a couple of months ago where I analyzed which albums I put on when I'm feeling good or down in the dumps. One or two actually made both lists.
In no particular order:
#1 ABBA Voulez - Vous
Always got time for them, especially this album! Ain't nothin' like coming home from a long train trip, freshen up and crank up some ABBA!
#2 Jackson Browne - Holdout
Any Jackson Browne is fine with me, but this album in particular, starting with Disco Apocalypse and featuring Call it a loan, one of his best songs.
#4 The Beatles A Hard Days Night
As much as I love the later stuff oftentimes I cite this as my favourite Beatles album.
#6 Patti Smith Group - Wave
Whereas Horses is also very high on my alltime favourite albums list, it's too poetic and abstract. Radio Ethiopia is too dark, and Easter is too complex musically for counting as a feel good album. This however features some unused Blue Öyster Cult songs, of course "Frederick", "Dancing Barefoot", and one which is always a good time: "So you want to be a rock'n'roll"
#7 Camel - Moonmadness
Although Prog not does not always comes to mind, this Camel album in particular is just a joy to listen too. Sometimes you're not all energized but still content and this is the perfect soundtrack for that.
#8 Jean Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean
Breezy, but still uplifting fusion of the highest class. I don't have to say much about it. More than words, literally in this case of an instrumental album!
#9 The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky
Similar to Camel, whereas I might prefer their prog leanings of the earlier albums I don't mind their synthesizer pop years at all, and on this one you've got a couple fiery guitars still and just melodies to melt away to.
#10 Buddy Holly - Buddy Holly
Always got time for 50s Rock'n'Roll, with Buddy Holly being a secondary favourite next to Chuck Berry. Songs such as Peggy Sue, Everyday, Words of Love and Rave on are legendary for a reason. I actually discovered him via the Beatles, believe it or not.
I had Hard Day's Night, too, but instead of Voulez-Vous, the self-titled ABBA nudged it out.
Mine are either albums that are super fun to sing along to or albums that just kick my ass (which feels good sometimes too!)
The Beatles-A Hard Day's Night
Big Star-Radio City
Faith No More-Angel Dust
The Who-Live at Leeds
Iron Maiden-Powerslave
Blue Oyster Cult-Secret Treaties
Ween-The Mollusk
The Jam-All Mod Cons
Death-Human
The Kinks-The Village Green Preservation Society
Great topic Pete! Mine in no particular order:
1. Van Halen - Van Halen
2. Elton John - Madman Across The Water
3. AC/DC - Back In Black
4. Journey - Infinity
5. Heart - Dog & Butterfly
6. Styx - Crystal Ball
7. Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic
8. Sweet - Desolation Boulevard
9. Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak
10. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivors
These all put a big smile on my face to this day and some are attached to memories as a teenager.
And add Boston's debut album in all ten positions.
1.The Beatles-Sgt Peppers
2,Stones-Beggars Banquet
3.Cream-Disraeli Gears
4.Led Zeppelin-Self Titled
5.Spirit-Dr.Sardonicus
6.Humble Pie-Rock On
7.Uriah Hepp-Look At Yourself
8.Yes-The Yes Album
9.Nazareth-Razamanaz
10.Queen-Self Titled
I couldn’t agree more about Utopia, I also remember hearing it on WPDH and also I95! Such a great one!
My ten "feel good" albums:
01 - Tangerine Dream "Logos" (because I was at that concert and it brings back great memories)
02 - Uriah Heep "The Magician's Birthday"
03 - Slade "In Flame"
04 - Queen "Sheer Heart Attack"
05 - Eloy "Visionary"
06 - T.Rex "The Slider"
07 - Sparks "Propaganda"
08 - Status Quo "Quo Live"
09 - UFO "Strangers In The Night"
10 - Frank Zappa "Sheik Yerbouti"
I saw Tangerine Dream twice in concert. Not sure what tours, but they were great live! They really surprised me at the first show.
Logos is a great choice - my favourite Tangerine Dream album
Fantastic call on Strangers In the Night. That's one of my feel good albums too
@@fogzax Indeed, and all the better for the full and extended version that was released in that latest TD box set that came out a year or two ago.

Totally agree about Road to Utopia. Heard New Wave Riders on the radio, immediately bought the vinyl, and felt just as you do about it!
Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy

Katy Lied - Steely Dan
Venus and Mars - Wings
Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy - Elton John

Esperanza Spalding: Emily's Devolution
Fleetwood Mac: Rumors
Teddy Pendergrass: Self Titled debut

These albums (or songs on them) exude positivity, and it totally makes sense that Paul McCartney was first in your list and we see him in the comments here, too. And thanks for highlighting that Utopia album, I’ve been wondering where to start after their debut!
Great choice with Permanent Waves, my no.2 Rush album. Nice to see Allied Forces getting some love.
I have a Pete Playlist with over 700 songs. It's such a great list. Thanks for sharing real music.
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith
Bryan Adams - maybe Reckless
Journey - Escape
Van Halen - maybe Van Halen (not my fave, but VH sure is feel good)
Depeche Mode - maybe Black Celebration
The song Getting Closer on Egg is my fav Wings song! Makes me feel alive. Great drumming!
Great song. It certainly lifts me up!
Great video, thanks for sharing Pete ✌🏻👌🏻
This brings back lots of memories. I appreciate you doing this. Got me going back to listening and finding my feel good albums
Great video, Pete….thanks for sharing those great memories and connections to some great music.
What a great and personal episode Pete! Love it. Some of mine, Steely Dan - Gaucho, Uriah Heep - Magicians Birthday, Poco - Legend, Donald Fagen - Nightfly, BeeGees - Main Course
What a great list. Your love for music is unmatched and so deep.
Pete, can't believe you picked one of my top choices. Triumph - Allied Forces. Awesome!
For me..The Knack--Get the Knack!Played it last night!Excellent power pop!Another..U2--The Unforgettable Fire!Every song..love it!The Replacements--Tim!Brings a smile to my face every time!
The first 4 albums from U2 are perfection, it all nosedived after that.
London calling! Nice episode 👏. Nice call on the Wings , so feel good
Songs from the Wood would be my number one choice and totally agree with Pete about Permanent Waves.
I've never actually sat down and thought about my favorite "feel good" albums, although I have many
feel good songs. Most of my favorite albums kinda go up and down and some are downright dark and depressing. So this is what I
came up with off the top of my head, in no particular order:
1. The Beatles - Revolver (Obligatory and still an amazing listen today.)
2. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy (Most of the album is pretty upbeat. The Rain Song is slower, but I find it uplifting, beautiful
and just plain joyful. The only song with a dark tone is No Quarter. Maybe not "feel good", but I love it.
3. Van Halen - Women and Children First (I'm with ya 100% on this one! This was my first VH album and I played the shit out of it in the
Summer of 1980. You didn't mention "In A Simple Rhyme", which is my favorite track and fits this theme perfectly.)
4. Steely Dan - Aja (Every song is winner and I never tire of hearing it.)
5. The Replacements - Let It Be (I had three Replacements albums I could have picked, but this one is probably the most fun. It's funny,
it's raw, it rocks, and they even do a cool cover of Kiss' Black Diamond.)
6. Rush - Moving Pictures (My personal favorite Rush album and the songs always take me back to when I first heard them at 15.)
7. Sugar - Copper Blue (One of the best alternative rock/pop albums ever. "If I can't Change Your Mind" is perfection.)
8. Santana - Santana III (The original band at the peak of their powers, a smoking, uplifting set that never lets up.)
9. Souhat - Live At The Black Cat Lounge (I doubt anyone out there ever heard this album, but for anyone that lived in Austin in the early 90's and
saw them live, it's just magical and brings back a lot of good memories for me. Maybe you had to be there. Even if you weren't, here's the next best thing. Great, funky jam band.)
10. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Damn The Torpedoes (My favorite Petty album and the deep cuts are just as strong as the hits. Timeless.)
I like this one! Without too much thinking:
Journey - Evolution (that's a no brainer: Lovin touchin squeezin, one of the songs that makes me start singing as loud as I can - not very nice for the neighbours)
Rush - Rush (because it starts with Yeah, ooh yeah)
Arno - Idiots savants (probably no one in the US knows this one 🙂)
Ivy - Apartment Life
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Buffalo Tom - Let me come over
AC/DC - any from Let there be Rock to Highway to Hell - I'll pick Let there be rock
Therapy? - Troublegum (now there's a story to this one. In the years when I was at my ultimate low, I used to play this one really loud when I was feeling totally shit, and the aggression of the first seven songs could take away my feelings)
John Coltrane - Ole Coltrane
Indochine - "3"
Something like that.

I remember The Polyphonic Spree being insanely uplifting in the early 2000s. I was with someone who had a daughter about 5 years old and we saw them at the V Festival. It was great and happy. Seeing the daughter raving to Chemical Brothers with glo sticks later that day was amazing.

Back to the Egg is my favorite Wings album! So very good! Great lineup!
Nice take on what is a "comfort album." I've watched those other videos and made my list. Of those the ones that fall within your "feel good" take are:
(1) An Innocent Man (Billy Joel) reminds me of my teen years, MTV videos.
Agree with Blow by Blow and ATOTT. First few that came to mind when I started watching
Right off the top of my head:
Anathema - Weather Systems (yeah this album is about life, death, and unrequited love; but god damn is it beautiful!)
Rush - Moving Pictures (first Rush album I ever heard, and my dad showed it to me)
Electromancer - Drone City (side project of guitarist Paul Wardingham. It combines his style of metal guitar with his love of 80s synth music. More Than Machine is the standout track)
Boston - Boston (Come on! How can you not feel good listening to this album?!)
Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient (the amazing music. The quirky humor. This album is just fun!)
My 'Feel Good' albums
1. The Nightfly - Donald Fagen
2. Silk Degrees - Boz Scaggs
3. Court & Spark - Joni Mitchell
4. Remain in Light - Talking Heads
5. Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
6. Captain & Me - Doobie Brothers
7. 461 Ocean Boulevard - Eric Clapton
8. Woodface - Crowded House
9. Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder
10. Vehicles & Animals - Athlete
I exited when you brought up Triumph
