Me han encantado los dos vídeos, tanto el primero sobre cómo han maquillado a Harumi como Maiko. Como el segundo vídeo en el que se muestra la vestimenta típica de Japón (el kimono).
In English, I love both videos, the first one is my favourite because it shows you how the Maiko prepare her faces with this special make up and oils. She is very beautiful as a Maiko.

But I've got so used to seeing maiko and knowing they're so young, that when you're wife was dressed, it made me see her as 16 or 18 years old. Not a bad thing! It was such a transformation!
I'd like to see her as geiko too, although I don't know if that's possible.
There are places offering geiko dress up experience! If Harumi is up for it, I'm sure she'll look very elegant!

Right now I'm reading Geisha, a life by Mineko Iwasaki and what a beautiful world is that of Maiko and Geisha. I really enjoyed this video and if I fulfill my dream of going to Kyoto I'll try to go there. Thank you Shogo!
Have you read Geisha by Liza Dalby? That's a very iconic book by an anthropologist on geisha culture (she became a maiko in Kyoto herself and even has a geisha name of her own!). I think you'll enjoy that too.
Harumi definitely is as if not more beautiful than any maiko I have seen on this channel. She just has naturally beautiful facial features regardless of her age. Moreover, in my eyes, it's much more enriching to spend time with Harumi because of her life experiences and more complex dreams, ambitions and obligations as well as her academic education she has compared to an 18 year old woman who cannot have this level life experience. So thank you Harumi to share this video with us. :)

I wonder whether it would be possible for a man to visit the centre just to admire these items when there are no other customers. I could spend hours studying their stunning designs and the crafts which go into their creation.
The staff all seemed so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, too.
They probably wouldn’t because their business depends on dressing people, but there are plenty of stores you can go to look at kimono and kanzashi
@@mk098a Thank you for taking the time and trouble to reply to my comment. Now that you point this out I suppose it should have been obvious - but I'm afraid that if I visited those stores I would have to be sure not to take too much money with me in case the fabrics were just too irresistible.

Hello Shogo, can I request your reaction on Kubo and the Two Strings? This movie is my favorite and it's inspired by Japanese culture: Such as Bon Festival or Gashadokuro, and even the Unbreakable Katana! You should saw this movie!

Oh Harumi looked beautiful. This looks like a wonderful experience and yes, I agree with her, if I were a teenage Japanese, I would become a Maiko. Since I can remember, like 3 or 4 yo, I've always loved seeing Geisha/Geiko figures, images and I loved Asian architecture and gardens, oh how I love the gardens. So I've always been learning and love it. 😌☺❤
I did this experience in 2019 and it was great! The staff was so nice and helpful. Since it was a slow day they even let us take some phone photos inside in one of the old tatami floor rooms. I was even lucky enough to get the kimono I wanted which I had seen on the website. Great experience!

Harumi looked amazing. What an experience that must have been for her. Now she has all those photos to remind her. There is so much that goes into dressing. The weight must be considerably for just clothing. Tomoko looked cute as always. I hope she gets to do that at some point (if she wants to of course). It looked like it was a lot of fun.

If I get to go to Japan one day, I hope I get to experience at least once how to look like a maiko. It's one of the many ways I could show my high appreciation for the country's culture.
You could always just buy a kimono and do it yourself. They're not cheap but they're not crazy expensive either. I have a few, takes a lot of practice to get the obi right though, especially doing it yourself
