It is so boring that in 5 years we had learn only computing math and sciences and other mechanical subject but facing the real machines and equipment is beyond our reach. Hey Raeii Lobete! Ya I also did a 5 year bachelors and it was the same. Super theoretical and no outside world experience. The only way I got real experience was with internships and thesis and projects. I would suggest you try that if you can!
I’m a (senior) ME at Purdue University, going for my masters in ME (eventually PhD), I absolutely loved this video and completely empathize with it! Been doing research on 2D material mechanics and it’s amazing, also have been looking into studying in Switzerland so maybe I might bump into you! Either way, amazing video, and very real about the life of an ME😂🙏🏻

it's good to see you as student of mechanical engineering doing filming on youtube, we are in the same background study. Keep it up! you have one sub from me.
I'm a junior Mechanical Engineer student in China now , and unfortunately it's not my interest so I'm gonna convert my major into cs at my graduate ,thanks for let me see the different aspect of ME.
Thank you for posting this video. You have confirmed my biases in wanting to switch from undergraduate engineering to computer science. All the best to you and your PHd in engineering!
I really do! When you're developing a project you always get stuck on many problems and on the contrary of what most people think when encountering such problems that's actually when I have the most fun, because you spend hours researching for a solution and you end up learning a lot during the process.
In my 1st year of work as a mechanical engineer. Work is rough but fun when I get to do design work. In the sugar industry though so just gathering the experience and plan to start-up something myself that I find more meaningful. The best thing about engineering is the options you have. You can quite literally do anything you want provided you're willing to work for it. To any students out there battling, or people thinking about doing mechanical engineering, keep this in mind through your slog. It is all worth it. And do your pracs! Especially those pesky elec ones. You won't regret it when you're sitting with a multidisciplinary project and don't have to revise the shit out of it :P Have a good day
Hey, i’m a mechanical engineering student too, from IIT Bombay. A second year undergrad, so not much experience. However, our core courses have just started and its AMAZING. My day is pretty tight with online classes, tech team work (we make drones and other robots) and making music!!
Second Year Mechanical Engineering student here, I'm glad I saw your video. Just by watching your video I can feel the mech engg vibe, very awesome equipments.
Love seeing women in trades! I’m also a female in my third year of electrical engineering technology and heading to university next year for my bachelor! So exciting!
I’m a dutch mechanical engineering undergrad student. My dream is to obtain a master’s degree from ETH Zürich!! Very nice vlogs!! Keep up the good work! Very interesting 😃
STEMinine I’ve just started my bachelor in september 😃 But it’s freakin’ hard!!! I’m struggling! I have no social life and i’m studying everyday from 09:00 am till 12:00 pm... I like it, so no problems. I passed my statics course and now i’m following dynamics course... After christmas holidays I have final exams and then the new semester will start with thermodynamics and much more 😱😜 In our bachelor’s program we can choose minors or internships abroad and stuff like that. I want to do my minor (6 months electives course) in robotics, after that I want to do a masters in robotics @ ETH Zürich! The future is robotics, I want to work in a robotics field, could be in any industry it’s a wide field with different types of applications! I
Hey William! Ya Bachelor's is haaardddd (I'm so so happy to be done lol). It gets better I promise:) ohh yes I remember statics (my dynamics course was much much harder than stats). Good luck with exams! And don't be discouraged when you start therm', it's hard but it very interesting. A minor in robotics sounds SO DOPE! So that and then build me a robot please:D I agree, it's a very wide industry and I'm sure you'll find an application that you like once you start your minor and you do your masters (at ETH). Let me know if you have any questions in the future about ETH!
I do a technologist course in mechanical projects, it's like a mechanical engineering focused in machine projects. I like how this course changed my mind, I mean, you start to see the things and try to imagine how are they build mainly when you have the resistance of materials subject at the course hehe. Right now when u were showing the machine I was imagining, wow how they built something like his or how did they discovered some stuffs, cuz the hardest part is when you search, search and research and don't find what u want. Yeah, but anyway, good video
Also a mechanical engineer, I'm a senior at Texas Tech University in the US. Any advice on where to go after graduation? I'm looking for jobs but the market is really competitive right now.. not sure if I should keep searching aggressively or jump into MS here at Tech or somewhere else. Advise please! Great Vlog btw...!
Hey Khubaib Lakhani! Thanks for watching and great question. As a young engineer you really have a lot of options. What are your reasons for wanting to do a MSc? Is it just because you're not sure about the market? Because you should only be getting an MSc for the following reasons: 1- You want to work in Europe. In Europe you need an MSc to work as an engineer. There's really nothing else to say. Unless you don't actually want to work as an engineer and just find another job. 2- You want to work in a specialized field. For example, I work in combustion. If I was to work at Siemens or Pratt & Whitney or GE, I need at LEAST an MSc (or even a PhD) but this is a specific research field within engines. But if you are fine with being flexible an working on many different types of projects as an engineer along different parts of the pipeline then I wouldn't suggest an MSc. So the question is really, what do you want to do? Now my question to you. Would you benefit if I started making a little video series called the "1 minute ask an engineer show" where I would answer questions like these in 1min? Let me know and thanks for watching!
Honestly I don't have enough industry experience to really know if I'm interested in a specialized field. I feel like work experience is the only way I would personally be able to get an idea about it and unfortunately I only have one internship in Oil & Gas (It's huge in TX) and I realized I'm not interested in pursuing that so it helped. I am interested in a lot of things and I feel like I could develop a passion for wherever I start unless it's a dead- end repetitive field. And yes I would watch that lol.. I think for me the only thing that stops me from clicking on an interesting video (in this case for ex. a mech engr related vid) would be the duration. So 1-min vids would capture a huge audience. I know some male engineer youtubers who have very boring 6-8 min videos and they have hundreds of thousands of views so definitely think you could be successful with that!
Ok so I think if you don't really know what you like then I would say you can do two things. 1- This last year of college, maybe explore the possibilities to do an MSc. And I don't mean in terms of schools. I mean in labs/projects and go speak to professors. You can email professors asking about their lab and saying your interested in doing an MSc and most of them will be happy to show you around and show you the research going on. Then you can pick an interesting project that you might develop a passion for. 2- You can go for internships/jobs in different fields and figure out what you like and then decide to go back and do an MSc. I think the REALLY TRULY important thing here is to remember that you literally have your entire life to do an MSc. And you also literally have your entire life to work. You can always switch career paths. I'm from Canada but living in Europe and people live life so much slower here than in North America. Everyone is in less of a rush. Don't buy into the fact that you need to figure everything out right away, because you don't. (Also please subscribe if you haven't yet :P )
That last bit was what I needed to hear. Society and norms make us feel so pressured to plan out and calculate every move we make and not think about what we actually want to do. I think I need to take a step back and take a deep breath. I will look into both options you suggested me. You are very right in the sense that it's pointless to jump into a MSc by default without considering why I am doing it. I think I'm leaning towards giving the job market a solid effort and see where my fate takes me.. most recruiting goes on through November, and I have a sense of what interests me. But thanks a lot for the advice. I'll let you know how it turns out! And officially subscribed.. :)
Thanks so much! And I really hope I was of help. Please keep me in the loop. And I hope you don't mind but I published your question and my response in a Medium article and on Tumblr (medium.com/@STEMinine/what-should-i-do-after-graduation-a919d7db905b) because I'm sure more student's have the same questions. I only used your first name but if you would like me to change that then let me know:)
Loved it!! Just a question, is this like an internship at a factory or an academic research? (looks like a mixture, like an R&D from some company though).
Glad to see women mechanical engineers. I am trying to get my engineering degree soonish. I want to go into the manufacturing side (currently work as a machinist) and eventually get my MBA so I can be a production manager.
I am a 3rd year mechanical engineering student from Canada. During the summer time I work as a product developer and designer for a hockey company. It includes a lot of brainstorming, lots of Solidworks, testing our products to make sure they can withstand impacts, and a lot of patent research to make sure our ideas can be created, and lots of FUN!!!
New subbie, also a Mechanical engineering female student here, is that the "order of engineer's ring"?? I thought you were suppose to wear it when you graduate, but it's possible to wear it as a student too? great video btw.
Yes that is my iron ring. Usually you only get it a month before you graduate. So I would say once you get it then it’s ok to wear. But if you fail or drop out after you get it Rhenish would say it’s weird if you wear it:S
I am a mechanical engineer and now I'm a master's student in... computer engineering. My research line is aerospacial systems. But my routine looks nothing like yours, I just go to the lab and stay all day in front of my laptop reading papers and books and trying to implement my work on Matlab, so I can hopefully simulate it later. Rocket science at its finest, right?
hahaah you know it. ya that was my schedule in my bachelors too, but i can't stay in the lab all day because i absolutely can't survive without food and sleep
Just found this video and I'm definitely subscribing! I'm a mechatronics student down in NC, and I may just be going into mechanical engineering based off this video! Looks amazing, and please continue to inspire some folks!
I'm in 11th grade now and I am planning to study aeronautical engineering. Is it okay to get bachelors in mechanical engineering then masters in aeronautics?
I’m turning 23 this year in may and I finally decided to go back to school. I’m currently completing an automotive technician program (7 months left) and I’m watching you and I’m hoping I could take something from this video as this seems like the course(s) I may take up thank you for the video and god bless
STEMinine well idk. In mine ME there is like maybe 1 girl per 50 guys no joke. But in civil, environment etc engineering there are quite some few. I guess it depends on the school too
Seriously, enjoy it while it lasts. Yes highschool is boring, but you have a ton of free time! Pick up sports or hobbies that you've been wanting to do, hang out with friends more, date enough girls to satisfy you for multiple years. College is way more interesting, but also way harder and time consuming. It is not out of the ordinary to basically go byebye social life in your first year.
Second year in aeronautical eng. Thinking seriously about given up however is not because is difficult just the fees are expensive lately I found myself working too much than study I know that this is just temporary but it gets really hard sometimes , anyway love engineering. Thanks for posting the video it's kind a motivation to not give up. Cheers from Australia For more woman in engineering !
Hey Vivi! Thanks so much for watching! Ya I get that it's so expensive:/ But have you considered maybe studying part time and working part time? I find that there's a pressure from society to finish studying ASAP but that's just not true.
hhahaah well I didn't want to show hours of footage of me just doing work in front of the computer;) but usually I work from 9am-6 or 7pm. (i'm lucky that I only have a master's thesis and no classes or else I would be working till 2am. Thank goodness those days are over)
Bro, I will be studying Electrical Engineer in 16 weeks after I graduate from High School. How you holding up? Do you have time to do things you like or you be studying all day? Is it hard?
I'm only a sophomore so I'm still in the "weed out" stage of the program. Junior year is the hardest. Taking upper level physics and calculus right now along with some EE and programming courses. It is a lot of work and its not easy but its manageable if you plan out your time well and use the available resources to help you when you struggle. I certainly do not study all day lol. I'd be burnt out if I did, and you shouldn't do that either. It's good to take some time off relaxing and going to parties and stuff. But you have to immediately get back to the grind the next day
Freshman year 1 semester I partied almost every weekend because to me the work was not difficult at all(calc 1, chem 1, some gen eds). If you can, try and go out and have as much fun as possible during your first semester if you also find your course load to be manageable and relatively easy. Get all the partying and fun out your system because after freshman year you'll have very little time to do so if you want to progress and do well. Keep your GPA up, get involved, and have some fun. Best of luck to you. If you got any questions don't hesitate to ask
Hi, I'm final year mechanical engineer. but i have friends in electric in my hostel. so almost all engineering fields are way too much easy. we do party, and everything. I myself usually study at last month of semester, although i won't advice you for such thing but i still have 3.4 cgpa. while in my department, teachers don't give good grades so often as compared to other campuses, but still it is easy unless you are weak in mathematics
What a beautiful video and so interesting, I'm also studying Mechanical Engineering but in the Power Electric side. You should still making more vlogs like this. Greetings from Mexico!!
STEMinine My good friend wanted to be a scientist but did not like physics very much. Now she's an incredible biologist! She worked for McGill in Montreal and she analysed data about food security of native populations in the North of Canada. They do that so they can develop tools to prevent industrial project that can put essential food source like Caribou herd at risk. I think that's pretty cool too!
Hi I just want to say thank you. I’m 16 from the UK about to pick my A Levels and I was stuck between chemistry and physics but watching this video I definitely want to pursue physics.
Hi Jessica! Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for sharing your life as an international grad student in Zurich (: I'll be heading there next September and your vids have been a good watch
@@RiverTechJess I just might! I'm also a fellow Canadian! (But from the other side of the country). Would appreciate any tips you have for moving there
Depends, In general I'd say Germany for engineering. However, accoeding to the world rank list some uni whose name I forgot in the us is #1 and the TU Delft in the Netherlands is a very close #2 when it comes to mechanical engineering. Keep in mind though, unless you speak German you'll find it hard to make German friends. (Even though all of them speak fluent English and arent dicks.)
Besides the point mentioned here by the people studying in USA is a bit expensive than Germany. And Germany provides free education for even international people. Its only the living expenses tha you have to bear. And standard of living is high too. But not like living in the US. The tuition fees may vary according to the universities you are applying consequently the courses you are planning to take up or pursue! Also Germany is a good place for mechanical engineers , the country being the hub for many automobile manufacturing units. Hope this helps you to make more informed choices!

Been doing research on 2D material mechanics and it’s amazing, also have been looking into studying in Switzerland so maybe I might bump into you! Either way, amazing video, and very real about the life of an ME😂🙏🏻
Mechanical Engineering stresses me out so hard that I've started praying to a god i don't believe in.
Matthew 33:34 You’re on the right path, through him nothing is impossible. Ask for knowledge, wisdom, insight the most meaningful to your life and success understand the meaning of these words and their role in reality and you’ll overcome any obstacles you face in life.
But the most important of all God comes first.
Haha I feel you there, maybe watch motivation videos? You won't need to pray any god to be super confident and confidence is so important
Me from another country 🤣
Junior Mechanical Engineering undergrad student here! It’s so nice to see another woman in the field out here killing it!
it's good to see you as student of mechanical engineering doing filming on youtube, we are in the same background study. Keep it up! you have one sub from me.
This video is crushing it on UA-cam, keep it uppppp :)
thank youuuu!!! I would've never made it if it weren't for you. thanks for all of the insight you've given me:)
Hey! I know you.
I'm going to start my first year at college as a mechanical engineer student next month!! So excited but kinda terrified at the same time
Good luck bro
How's it?
I'm a mechanical engineer but I'm only working in an auto body shop... This video made me question what am I doing with my life.. hahaha...
Dope engine.Your simulation looks like the flame burning in my heart.
Greetings from a mechanical engineering student in Brazil. Your videos are very interesting, keep it up!
I'm a junior Mechanical Engineer student in China now , and unfortunately it's not my interest so I'm gonna convert my major into cs at my graduate ,thanks for let me see the different aspect of ME.
I'm in the aero program. Gonna be starting an internship in a combustion/ aero propulsion department in a few days. Excited/nervous
oh nice! Congrats and good luck!:D
Where do you study?
Ooooh my 😍
as a student of mechatronics, I could not fail to enroll in such a channel!
Hope you will like it!:D
I like yes! :D
Breno Freitas Hey there! I have recently finished school and I'm thinking about getting a degree in mechatronics, would you recommend that?
Thank you for posting this video. You have confirmed my biases in wanting to switch from undergraduate engineering to computer science. All the best to you and your PHd in engineering!
Niiice! I’m third year bachelor at the moment and kinda jealous of how chill your day is. But you’ve already gone through the crazy to get there.
ya i would never wanna go back to the amount of work i had in my bachelors lol
Proud of all girls and my daughter also studying in the mechanical engineering course
Nice vid, I'm a bachelor degree mechanical engineering student from Brazil. My day is pretty much similar im developing a project on hydrogen energy.
Oh that's so cool!! do you like it?
Royal mechnozz...always rocksss..
Just feel good when I see a mechanical engineer girl...
tamil ah bro ?
Love seeing women in trades! I’m also a female in my third year of electrical engineering technology and heading to university next year for my bachelor! So exciting!
So as today UA-cam recommend me this two years old video, i would like to know that " did u get a job?"
I'm using your video to improve my English. Your English is very clear. I am from Brazil.
Im taking CFD this fall!!!!!! Along with fluids 2, thermal fluids, heat transfer, and senor design part 1! Im so excited again after seeing this vid!!
I’m a dutch mechanical engineering undergrad student. My dream is to obtain a master’s degree from ETH Zürich!! Very nice vlogs!! Keep up the good work! Very interesting 😃
awesome! and thanks for your support! Keep at it and I'm sure I'll see you here soon:) What year are you in? And what do you want to specialize in?
STEMinine I’ve just started my bachelor in september 😃 But it’s freakin’ hard!!! I’m struggling! I have no social life and i’m studying everyday from 09:00 am till 12:00 pm... I like it, so no problems. I passed my statics course and now i’m following dynamics course... After christmas holidays I have final exams and then the new semester will start with thermodynamics and much more 😱😜
In our bachelor’s program we can choose minors or internships abroad and stuff like that.
Fuck this shit Doorzetten broer, zeker als je besloten hebt door te gaan in Februari.
I want to MS in Mechanical engineering from Zurich. Could you please tell me the process and Uni to take easy admission.
Even I am a mech engineer ( in my 2nd year) and I got to know you from your top 10 laptops to buy video and I got Dell XPS 15 cause of you
A deep learning student:
"I started the learning on my compuncter a week ago so I just need to wait another seven days"
**keeps on chilling**
Well done. You will have a great career and know stuff that most people don't understand.....including me!!. Well done
Wonderful
This is amazing and motivating
I feel so happy to continue excelling in my course...
Also a mechanical engineer graduate student 🙋🏻♀️ building launch vehicles 🚀😃
❤️
@@dhruvpatel7457 Are you going to hiring her ?
ateş koral fyi, I live in the US
Is engineering worth it
Candy Mi In my opinion it is
"So, this is your engineering project: a grey screeeeen!!!" XD
I do a technologist course in mechanical projects, it's like a mechanical engineering focused in machine projects. I like how this course changed my mind, I mean, you start to see the things and try to imagine how are they build mainly when you have the resistance of materials subject at the course hehe. Right now when u were showing the machine I was imagining, wow how they built something like his or how did they discovered some stuffs, cuz the hardest part is when you search, search and research and don't find what u want. Yeah, but anyway, good video
Omg, It's one of the best videos I have ever watched. Keep on going and update more videos about mechanical experiments.
I am a mechanical engineering undergraduate student at the University of Kentucky in the states, super interesting to see the work you are doing!
Because you should only be getting an MSc for the following reasons:
1- You want to work in Europe.
I am interested in a lot of things and I feel like I could develop a passion for wherever I start unless it's a dead-
end repetitive field.
"This is Luigi from italy....Luigi where are you from, what is your name?" hahaha awsome..
Haha I love annoying him
Glad to see women mechanical engineers.
Am a girl !? And am also an Mechanical Engineer!!! Love to see this video!!
STEMinine ok I understand now, thanks for the reply!
Thanks so much Gabe! I hope you enjoy the other videos. Let me know if you ever have any recommendations:)
Great video! Keep representing us engineers well!
Im gonna study Mechanical Engineering in Bachelors. Wish me luck
Bhai branch change kar Lena for sure , thx me after 5 years
Bhai civil se kr le
I just finnished my masters. Good luck xD im so happy this is over with 😅
Best of luck bro! Be jack of all and master of one. IN INDIA BACHELORS IN MECHANICAL MEANS YOU WILL KNOW EVERYTHING. 😂😂
I'm in 11th grade now and I am planning to study aeronautical engineering. Is it okay to get bachelors in mechanical engineering then masters in aeronautics?
1:27 - "This is my hairdryer. I don't mess around!"
graduated in 2012 , never had a job in my major ever since
I’m turning 23 this year in may and I finally decided to go back to school. I’m currently completing an automotive technician program (7 months left) and I’m watching you and I’m hoping I could take something from this video as this seems like the course(s) I may take up thank you for the video and god bless
Hello, i am also Mechanical Engineer. i am studying in mechanics and machine design. i am really glad to see such kind of channel on UA-cam. (y)
can't wait to get to college - high school's so boring haha
Daniel Wang Yi Yao no its not, enjoy it, especially the girls. Engineering doesnt have girls, its like 1%.
Daniel I agree, haha I though high school was soooooo boring too:)
Hey António, we had 20% girls in our classes. (but maybe this is just in canadian schools?)
When I grow I'm planning to be mechanical or nuclear engineering
Mee too
Why ?
I'm mechanical engineering student (4th year)
From India 🇮🇳
And ?
So
This is a very helpful video. Such a great laboratory...
Please share more about this technology for us to know more here in the Philippines.
I'm going to take mechanical engineering this year. I'm scared but at the same time excited
"From Italy!"👌👌
*I didn't do that* 🤣🤣🤣
That is some insight to what Italians think about how people perceive them
Second year in aeronautical eng. Thinking seriously about given up however is not because is difficult just the fees are expensive lately I found myself working too much than study I know that this is just temporary but it gets really hard sometimes , anyway love engineering. Thanks for posting the video it's kind a motivation to not give up.
Cheers from Australia
For more woman in engineering !
Vivi Mundaca keep working hard if you like what you study! I'm a mechanical engineering student too but I don't really like it..
Hey Vivi! Thanks so much for watching! Ya I get that it's so expensive:/ But have you considered maybe studying part time and working part time? I find that there's a pressure from society to finish studying ASAP but that's just not true.
I am a mechanical engineer student too,but now I don't wanna study mechanical engineering any more
Just kidding
I liked the video
i'm a junior in high school and this was soooo helpful to help me on my search of what career i'd like. thanks!!
That project is so cool. So glad you explained it.
Thanks for listening!
"If you have any questions about it, please comment below"
Everybody in the audience: ...
I got this suggestion right when i'm near to fly to Canada for my masters in design as a mechanical technology. BTW where are you from?
Great video. I’m an Electrical Engineering major but its cool to see how grad students do research. Are your days normally this short?
hhahaah well I didn't want to show hours of footage of me just doing work in front of the computer;) but usually I work from 9am-6 or 7pm.
Awesome video hoping for more of it
What a beautiful video and so interesting, I'm also studying Mechanical Engineering but in the Power Electric side. You should still making more vlogs like this. Greetings from Mexico!!
Which software do you use for simulation. Please tell me...
I’m an Econ and Finance student. What am I doing here
Sleep deprivation hurts bad...
I'm also a Mechanical Engineering student. Getting my BS in the winter :D
It's been a hell of a ride, but I've learned so much along the way.
The misconceptions about Mechanical Engineers should end.
Thank you for clearing things out! :)
Mechanical Engineering student in Rio!
By seeing you drinking Red Bull i thought it would be a thug life 😂
If I study mechanical engineering, I will definitely fail lol😂 Physics is the nightmare in my entire life.
what will you study instead? I always thought marine biology was cool
I think if you can shift that negative attitude toward physics you might do better
Paul Auchon that’s a pretty rad project! Interesting and definitely needed. Ya I think there’s room in science for everyone:)
I’m still a high school student, but I want to become a surgeon in the future
Hi I just want to say thank you. I’m 16 from the UK about to pick my A Levels and I was stuck between chemistry and physics but watching this video I definitely want to pursue physics.
Hi Jessica! Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for sharing your life as an international grad student in Zurich (: I'll be heading there next September and your vids have been a good watch
Awesome!! Reach out when you’re here:)
@@RiverTechJess I just might! I'm also a fellow Canadian! (But from the other side of the country). Would appreciate any tips you have for moving there
1:33 looks like stranger things season 3 machine
Is it better to study mechanics engineering in Germany or USA ????
It doesn't matter. It depends on where you want to live and where you want to end up afterwards:)
Thanks for your input Mario. Can I ask why you think so?
Update us, I want to know if you've decided yet
She: this is blaahh.. blahhh... blahh
Me: wait whatt? im lost..
😭😭😭
Imagine getting lost at blah blah blah
Great video. Congrats on your job!
Mam,You are very lucky and gifted to study the beauty of Mechanical engineering by practical methods
I learnt lot in 9minutes of ur video than 4years of my Mechanical Engineering college.
