    I have a 93 740iL and I have a code on the dash saying Trans Program. I think all that needs to be done is to go through it and clean the valve body in it, and put a new filter and fluid in it. Does that sound about right?

    Ok, I will bite here….your M70 has some issues and many things are likely going on due to car running in limp mode
    1) smoke test- likely intake leaks, throttle body shaft seals can be leaking too allowing unmetered air, check ALL vacuum lines…car will not run correctly with unmetered air leaks
    2) your PCV valves could be faulty causing another problem with the car not idling
    3) check your fuel pumps for pressure right before they come into the rail, can’t remember the pressure off the top of my head, the Bentley might give you the correct bar reading
    4) ignition system on these cars do need attention a) all spark plug wires should register 6ohms, coil wires 2ohms, replace your coils with OE Bosch and not cheap junk, use BMW only crank position sensors and dounut sensors, use the correct 1 ohm NGK plugs, replace O2 sensors with OE Bosch, your MAFs can be rebuilt by injection labs in Colorado for about 750.00 for the pair which is a steal since BMW wants over $2,100.00 each for new ones, don’t try aftermarket MAFs you will be chasing problems forever
    5) research if you have no; bimmerforums and Timm’s website for information
    6). I don’t know if you really know what you are in for with this car. The M70 is a great engine and the E32 750 is a great car, but you can drop some serious money in this car to make it mechanically reliable, I am just about finished with an E31 850 6 speed and have over 12K in parts….just food for thought
    7) good luck they are actually easy cars to wrench on but you are in for a long process to get this car sorted. Many people get frustrated and give up….hence the low cost of admission, but can be a crazy frustrating ride.

      Watch my new video on it, it was one of the fuel pumps that went out that was causing it. What I assumed happened was when I hauled ass, it either sucked something up or vibrated so hard that it just destroyed it, new fuel pump later and its running alright. It definitely needs the plugs/wires checked and/or replaced and for sure the cooling system needs flushed. I have big plans for this car but its a large learning curve coming from an American muscle background lol

      MAF doesn’t need to be rebuilt. He saved that $750 by just cleaning it the way he did.

    Before cleaning your throttle bodys would your EML light turn on the dash before start up? Or your EML light would stay off and after cleaning the throttle bodys that's when your EML light started to turn on on your cluster?

      It started to do it before I cleaned them, but I never got it to come on and off consistently, it was at random and after playing with I, I noticed a pattern with it. It turned out it was the fuel pump causing it. What sensor was detecting it, I have no clue but it runs great now, got it to run, and now I need it to stop lol

      @@Hunters_Mechanics ok cause mine have never turned on, not even before starting the car. I thought maybe by cleaning the throttle bodys that would fix my issue. I'm still cleaning them and thank you for your response

      @@leathaface510 Are you having similar issues to what mine is?

    • @leathaface510
      @leathaface510 Рік тому

      @@Hunters_Mechanics no is just that mine started to go on limp mode out of nowhere so I'm thinking it has to be the throttle body's. I don't get any heck engine light or trans program warning it just goes into limp mode. Just yesterday it wouldn't shift into neutral or reverse but it would drive normal on "D". Doing my research I'm crossing my fingers that is the neutral switch located under the shifter. I've spend a lot of money into this one and I don't want to spend money on a transmission

      @@leathaface510 the research I've looked into was the MAF sensor causing the transmission shifting to be late or non existent but it still allow it to park/neutral/drive when needed so I doubt that's your issue. I've spent assloads amount of money on this one so far and I cannot say if it was worth it or not yet lol hope yours is a simple and cheap fix 🤟
