Maybe put compact chainrings or subcompact even so the climbing would get easier? And Belgium is not all flat, only the northern and the western part. Cheers from Belgium 😊
I like the set up for the decents and I can still climb punchy stuff with max of 22% so it is good, it just takes more energy and stress. But saying that it is a good do it all bike and for the money it is great. Its just not a climbing bike, but it was never designed for that
Van Rysel has serious problem with the geometry of it's bikes, they are far too agressive, and sizing is super strange. This one has also agressive geo, like the RCR. Size XS has 381mm reach? Also size XS is far too big under 170cm, etc.
I have absolutely no problem with the geometry, it is very comfortable for me.. How do you know that the geometry is too big? Did you actually get to go and sit on the XS to come to this conclusions??
@@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST Facts are facts. 381mm reach is huge for a super small frame. Cade Media tested Van Rysels, they measure between 170cm and 175cm, so not XS size, more like size S/M males, and they rode XS frames, which fitted them good. Real XS people are around 165cm, and no way they get a comfortable position with such a long reach. If u are taller, and u use bigger sized frames like M or L it's different story. But u seemengly using max spacers on this frame, try without it.
@@Gianniz27 I won't be doing anything you say because I an very comfortable on the bike and my position is good. Its you that is saying you have the problem and trying to get me to agree with you?? Why would I do that? You are 165cm and I am 184cm. You are classed in a minority when it comes to adult sizing for bikes, I am not. I am on a large but I have long legs and arms, but a short upper body, so the spacers keep my chest open on long climbs, but I can get lower if I need as the stem is flat. Why are you moaning about a company based around Flanders culture not having a frame to accommodate you, have you seen the size of people there and also Holland? If not they are tall. Ridley are prime example of frame sizing for the Belgium Market and its the Same story, but the Ran Rysel are way more standard than Ridley are. Now if they don't do an XXs for you go and find a brand that does. Now my advice to you is to buy either a Spanish or Italian branded frame that will help as generally the AV height of people in these 2 countries is smaller so you should find what you are looking for😉👍
entry level bike no shame in that, derek van rysel marketing this for those wanting to get into the shitshow that is cycling(my opinion) on the other hand you could be a total twat and buy a sl8 get a jack ass to build it into a heavy trainer. for ref. my trainer is a 2006 trek pilot 5.2 looks like someone went at it with a blow torch. the sunday best is a litespeed custom weighing in at just over 7kg
I am speechless. Nice frameset thats it. In my opinion you live in a different world and reality. So that set up gets a big steaming 💩 from me, but each to his own.
Well the bike is what it is; a budget bike for flats and long distance. A serious climber will look elsewhere for a more expensive climbing bike! Thanks for the honest reviews and update!
For the price it can't be expected to do more, it would be nice though. To be fair the weight for the price is actually OK considering the competition, and it is a good all round endurance bike👍💪👌
@@THECONTROVERSIALCYCLIST I prefer rim brakes for a bike that I bring with me on vacation (I flew quite some times to Spain). No hassle with bent rotors, lighter and cheaper. Basically you have told it’s garbage… botom bracket clicking after one thousand kilometres is garbage indeed. I still can’t believe you are telling the truth because it sounds unrealistic. Bikes are much more durable than that.
It's documented in the videos not just this one, so it is most likely to the BB not being perfectly aligned, but as explained in the video it's only under heavy stress out of the saddle climbs of 10% + or more. I don't care if you don't believe me and what you think. So you shouldn't care if I think you are here to try as give me 💩 because you are a Hambini 🧌🤫😂😂😂
Here you go:)… now you say only under heavy stress… I have wheels with steel spokes and never had corrosion problems. Nowadays all bicycles are the same, and when someone says one bike is way better than the other this makes me very suspicious.
you seem to be a good teacher on youtube so you might know Malaysia bought some ...french engineering for its military in 2009 with Scorpene class submarines and exocet missiles. Not bad humm for a poor french engineering?. Maybe Exocet must say something to our british friends unfortunately because of the Falklands
Mavic entry level wheels are really not compatible with Canary Islands (Steel spokes), Aksiums come here to die xD
I probably need to lose the whole weight of the Van Rysel from myself before I worry about the 2kg between this and a UCI limit bike 😂😂
😂😂
I've just seen decathlon are now doing a titanium bike wonder what you're opinion is it's not super cheap but seems fair given what they go for.

Think you would go with the grey instead of blue in retrospect?
The Blue is way nicer in my opinion

It is a full carbon frame..
I have PF 30 on an aluminum frame. So far so good. I was wary, but the frame is a beaut. Cheers.
