    Episode Description
This week Caesars Rewards took away a perk from some of their higher status members without any notice or explanation. First they closed the lounges and now many Diamond Plus members are losing their free drinks. Why did Caesars suddenly devalue their program in this way and is it a bad look for the gaming giant?
In other #news it was a busy weekend in Las Vegas with cooler temps, high winds and the last minute cancelation of one of the city's biggest music festivals. We also discuss the return of Lotus of Siam, what it is like as a VIP at Fontainebleau, Rio's burgers, saving a historic prospector, how to score $25 concert tickets in Vegas and Criss Angel's "garage sale" where you can buy old tricks!

My local casino devalued players club points about a year ago, with no notice. The conversion to dollars was 300 to $1 forever, and all of a sudden they switched to 400 for $1. People who had been conserving their points got hosed big time.

As Caesars goes, so too will MGM Intl. That's my prediction anyway. "
I honestly don't get it. They are driving people away. What service industry does that? All I can say is I'm glad I moved my play to Station's casinos. VERY happy with their players club, their free self AND valet parking, the plethora of VP machines with good pay scales, their restaurants and their friendly staff. Our last trip out in April we drove to Durango and were very impressed with everything there. What a beautiful property.

Caesars - from their hotels, restaurants, and especially customer service - has been in a constant state of hyper accelerated "Devaluation" since 2018. However, people will still go and let themselves get shit on and ripped off by this company.

I stopped going to Caesars after my buddy and I both lost our Diamond + status. We were loyal Caeser's fans that were Diamond's for over 10 years and we got locked down during COVID and weren't able to go and lost our Diamond status. We spoke to our casino host and he said there was nothing they could do. OK well we will never step foot in a Caesar's property again!

Caesars is owned by Vici Properties Inc., which has in the past 15 years bought up almost all the Las Vegas Strip real estate. An endless supply of investment money from somewhere. Vici Properties hires companies to manage their casinos. The top shareholders of Vici are BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street. This BlackRock Triad interlocking directorate owns 30% of Vici Properties Inc. shares - total control. Which is why prices in Las Vegas have skyrocketed - the monopoly effect.

Hey thanks for the shout out on the Fontainebleau review! To clarify, I was told Poodle Room access isn't for all suites, just guests of Fleur de Lis. It's my understanding those can go as low as $1000 per night, but realistically, when I priced them for an average September weekend, they were asking $2500-$3800 for some of the smaller units.

I noticed the caesars cut on benefits, too. They also happened to send me a survey just today and sent it even before the premier of this vid. I lit them UP. I have been Diamond Plus or Diamond Elite every year for 6 years (not tier matched) and the stuff you get compared to EVERY OTHER BRAND in Vegas, Atlantic City, Etc offer so much more.
This year, I will likely lose Diamond completely because the incentive to do business with them is completely gone for me.
What is crazy is that they do have the ability to eat every other resort brands lunch with the benefits they could actually offer. But yet..

I had my gripes of MGM cutting a bunch of stuff (drink robots for one recent example, they way they treat locals now, removal of dedicated casino hosts, etc), but what Ceasars has done under Eldorado is absolutely insane.

Having been coming to Vegas since the late 70s I have experienced all of the changes and it’s not the same. The properties are more sophisticated and eye popping but the casino’s now have all the warmth and charm of McDonald’s. The days where dealers knew you and pit bosses could comp you dinners, shows and line passes are pretty much over. The personalization is gone and if you’re old enough to remember how it used to be it’s a bit sad. We’ve been there over a hundred times for sure and we will keep coming back but behind the snazzy hotels the real Vegas is tough to find and we miss it.

In November of 1967 I put my first quarter into a slot machine, got 2 back and was hooked. I remember getting dressed up to go to a show, free drinks, .99 cent full ham & eggs breakfast and $4.99 prime rib dinners. Then when I was a bit older I was introduced to having a casino host, who treated me like a queen, with free fabulous dinners, free shows, free suites and as much as I wanted to drink - really made me feel special. All of that is gone now. I am a video poker player and most places treat VP players like their money doesn't count. I no longer have a desire to go to Vegas. Shows, rooms and meals have skyrocketed to ridiculous amounts that have shoved the middle class out.

When it comes to using Uber/Lyft from Harry Reid Airport, I have found that it is signficantly cheaper to get a taxi or even take the public bus (which I did on my January 2022 trip) to the Strip. It is also less hassle mainly because both taxis & the bus are all ready to go when I exit the terminal in most cases unlike Uber/Lyft in which you have to wait especially if it's busy. The only times I have used Uber/Lyft in Vegas have been when I have gone to both the North & South Premium Outlet Malls (mainly because I didn't want to carry the things I bought on the Deuce bus) or visiting family who live in Henderson.

Caesar’s took away my diamond plus drinks starting May 1st. I talked to a host and he said they took away from around 1000 “unprofitable” players , mostly poker players. Shawn is correct. They should not take away the 4-drink benefit especially without any notice. I used to work in litigation and I am sure Caesar put clauses in their reward agreements but the way they took away the benefits: only from a subset of diamond plus players and without notice makes the case very litigable. I have approached former colleagues for a law firm specialist contact in Nevada. Most importantly I am waiting for the damage to accumulate; 1000 players for $100 per day equal to $100k per day and $3 million per month. At around $6 million, we will likely approach Caesars for a discussion and over $12 million without punitive damages, class action lawsuit will be under consideration. I know of 3 other diamond plus players who are also affected. So we already establish a base class.

Or just go to the Southern Terminal and transfer to the DEUCE which goes right up the strip(ask for the transfer when you get on the first bus). I get the commentary on taking a taxi from the airport, but you guys may want to keep in mind that the Taxi solution is not always the best... In March I hopped in a taxi at Resorts World to go quickly to Fontainebleau because the Uber line was long.. turns out that the Taxicab Authority has been implementing surcharges and during the first week of the NCAA tournament, it was $10 on top of the initial rate charged before even driving away. I noticed the meter was reading $15.99 before we even turned onto the strip. I showed the cab driver that the Uber rate would have been $8.50 for the entire trip which ended up costing me over $20. It's no wonder that the visitors have opted against taxis for a more technology friendly app based service where you know what you are going to pay up front.

Uber cut our rates so much that a lot of drivers have stopped driving. At the end of 2021 they stopped paying us by base rate+milleage+time and just pay us a flat fee. Of course, the flat fee is less than what we were making before. I was putting in 35-40/week 2 years ago but only drive 10 hours/week now. As long as visitors OBSESS over location as their most important criteria in where to stay in Vegas (as opposed to, y'know, overall customer service experience)................Caesars will simply continue to feel enabled and justified in furthering their anti-consumer practices much like these latest cuts. It's just that simple.
With me though, I'll take an excellent all-around experience on either extreme end of the Strip whether it be Mandalay Bay or Sahara over a mediocre one in a centralized location almost dominated by Caesars resorts ANY day.
Wind-related closures have really become a huge problem in Vegas as of late. It's basically a roulette wheel gamble whether an event will see the light of day or not. The inaugural When We Were Young festival had its first day canceled from high winds, there was some golf-related event that wind derailed and didn't even offer refunds, and now we have the much-hyped Lovers & Friends biting the dust.
