    The subconscious is always listening. If you try you’re telling your brain you can’t. It will never happen. “Get rich or die trying” is written like that for a reason.

      Thank you. Had lots of offers for people to do editing, better thumbnails to make my channel 'more professional' - not my aim at all. What you see is what you get - apart from sometimes I have broken off for a break from gardening and am wearing my total scruffs trousers - just a clean top! Thank you Dee. A very wise lady once told me if I was ever anxious or dreading anything.....job interview, exam, funeral....think about it in sections....don't think about things as one massive awful thing but divide it up in your head into manageable sections. So similar to what you have suggested about helping a child negotiate writing a story when it seems they are facing a piece of paper as a mountain of snow.....split it up into chunks. I love this advice. Thank you. Going to use it to help my son with his history homework that he is panicking about! I look forward to your videos and your calm and gentle voice. Thank you. ❤

      @Cheshirelass  2 місяці тому +3

      Thank you ... yes it makes things more approachable. I liken SMART targets, chunking is like having lots and lots of steps to climb. Ugh. But if you break that climb into sections with break points and maybe a drink or ice cream .. more doable for we mere mortals! D

    Thank you. My special needs adult daughter lives with us. I know that tasks all need to be broken down into manageable pieces for success. I used that method when I worked. I haven’t used that method in my personal life and set too many impossible personal goals. Then I am discouraged when fail. This was a good reminder to not only have goals but to develop clear plans to accomplish them.

      You poor thing. Overthinking and OCD are exhausting! I have struggled with my mental health as well over the years. I recommend taking magnesium at night to help you sleep, I also highly recommend Omega 3 with EPA and DHA which is really beneficial for our mental health (I have just started taking that myself). You may need to check with your doctor first if on other medication but I'm sure it will be fine. Meditation, yoga and walks can also do wonders. And getting therapeutic support as Dee suggested. All of the best to you!

    • @LifeofDal
      @LifeofDal Місяць тому +3

      hey!! I struggled with this about 2 years ago. it was very sudden and almost felt like it came out of nowhere once I moved out of my parents place to live on my own, most of the ocd I experienced was intrusive thoughts. I quickly worked with a therapist and we discovered that a lot of it stemmed from feeling "not in control of my own actions and thoughts" since I lived in a traditional household that instilled no self confidence In my own ability to be responsible for myself. We did do exposure therapy ( i highly highly recommend doing this) and worked on self limiting beliefs hand in hand, I still get some thoughts (as we all do and it is normal) and if a thought gets stuck I just do the exposure therapy on my own and it goes away, at the end of the day, they're just thoughts, every single one of them "good" or "bad" are nothing but a circuit of electrical signals in your brain, they are NOT real. moral of the story: exposure therapy, and self limiting beliefs. BELIEVE that you are capable of change.

      @@Cheshirelass various ages, all adults. It’s an employability course to help currently unemployed people getting more successful in their job search strategies. At the end of the course it’s common practice to help them create a simple plan for the next steps, using the STAR method. I thought that this time instead of simply discussing the method or show them a typical corporate video on this topic, I’d show your video. I liked it because you apply it to more general aspect of life, not specifically to work-related goals, and this is exactly what made them love it. When commenting on the video, they often repeated your invitation to “stop trying”. I think you’ve positively influenced many of them today.

    Good morning Dee. The weather there looks delightful. Slight breeze, birds always chirping, and you sitting in the midst of a multitude of gorgeous garden plants. I always feel your aura is so calm and very positive, and I love the gentle way you speak.
    Great advice, as usual. It just seems as if, during my whole life, I’ve tried helping and rescuing so many loved ones (human and non human). And maybe I succeeded for a while (or perceived I was succeeding)…but life seemed to play out with my wasting so much energy, time, finances and my overwhelming empathy to no avail. Life has been wonderful, during many moments. I am grateful for the joyful memories. But much of life has been so difficult …seemingly testing my endurance and my resilience (which are both decreasing as I increase in age).
    I feel my brain knows exactly what I should do, but my heart is usually leading (and has always over ruled ) my brain and I’m thinking ‘but…….’. 🥺
    I get so stressed, and I’m totally aware that I’m stressed…and I feel as if I’m on a hamster wheel and can’t get off. Crazy. I’m 76 yrs old. A grown woman. I will speak out and step up if anyone is hurting or being bullied….and I realize I can’t help rescue every animal or person who I feel needs some food and/or shelter. My home is tiny. In my large home I had (years ago) , the house was filled with my grandchildren, my older children, foster dogs, foster cats…and I’d usually adopt a few dogs/cats. I had much more room, more money, more money, was still working…. and was in much better health.
    I got a bit burnt out trying (there’s that word) to solve everyone’s problems. Kept trying. To no avail, usually.
    I understand what you’re saying, and agree with you. Sometimes, I feel powerless…as I did when I was a tiny child. I’m old..and I am alone a lot (and talk to myself, sing, make myself laugh…or maybe get a bit depressed and tired) but I do chores, keep busy …or sometimes read, ponder and/or meditate. I’ve learned there’s a way to calm myself down and feel inner peace, but like everything else, life has a way of changing course when I least expect it.
    Btw, I saw the new lodger video. My younger daughter (who has passed) and I have rescued many little birdies. She was the vet tech who loved animals..as do I..and we’d go to such lengths to try to save any abandoned baby animals. Sometimes we did, sometimes we couldn’t. My older daughter loves animals also (she’s the teacher who never had any children),but she’d look at Dawn (my younger daughter) and I and sometimes think we went a bit overboard.
    My older daughter turned 54 yrs old today and she has a cat (Trixie is 15 yrs old). She was here visiting ..grandkids not around…just she and I and we had a nice time and I even sang to her. We had ice cream cake. She has changed as we all do. She teaches 1st grade and her cat is her baby. The cat has had some health issues and she is worried, and fearful. Trixie was given to her by my younger daughter (15 yrs ago) and Trixie is not a super friendly cat (somewhat like my one cat, Maya), but she knows her momma is Lisa (my older daughter) and I dread the moment that will eventually come…but we try to focus on right now…and she’s gotten really good at that.
    How is your lodger doing? Sooooo cute.
    Thank you Dee. Apologize for another ramble. My daughter only left an hour ago (she has week off) and I’m overstimulated, in a good way. 😊 She’s the only one near me now (except for my eldest grandson who definitely has some genetic issues going on, I believe). I am slowly moving some stuff back into the back bedroom he’s in….I feel for him, but he’s a grown man who has made his own choices. I keep reminding myself…he is behind with lots of bills, his jeep has some problems that need fixing, he is working but has no money saved at all. He has no money to help me with my bills….and (I hate to admit this) he is very narcissistic and doesn’t realize it at all. Truly. Kind of lazy too. I am not in a position to financially help him anymore. So………… I will be making a few changes around here. You make me feel relaxed …and I love your videos and your aura. Such positive vibes coming thru from you whenever I listen to/watch you. Much gratitude. 💞💞💞💞💞
