Thanks so much for these videos. We've got a rising 9th grader, and your high school videos have been super helpful. We're secular homeschoolers, but I still get some great info from your videos :)
Hearing about the plans excite me and the journey that Katie will have very soon, but I understand the hardship in making things work, but I know God has laid it all out already for you as a mom and Katie as the student. God bless you always!
Our son is taking some Dual Enrollment classes and I agree the lack of control we have is difficult. We don't even get an advisor to help us in choosing classes as the parent you have to figure it all out on your own. Then the "advisement team" is responsible for enrolling/dropping classes which is a lengthly process.
I know that all things will come together for the good of K. His timing is perfect. I didn’t realize that SCAIHS would issue more than one type of designation for the diploma. I need to look into that. Such great information about Dual enrollment, thank you. I didn’t realize K already knew the degree that she wants to pursue in college. Business will come in handy if she continues to work in the family business.
I'm sorry registering was such a mess! I'm surprised they didn't tell you that information ahead of time so you could look at different options. I hope that stats class works out for yall!
All we needed for both schools was an official transcript showing a minimum 3.0 GPA. One of the schools did have her SAT score because we sent it when she took it last year.
Praying she gets into the math class she wants! This will never be my reality but it’s still interesting and of course now that I’m attached to your family I love knowing what’s up with each of you :) can’t wait to see Katie Soar!
I am just wondering if you have looked ahead at Katie's college choices to see if they will truly accept the classes and credits. I just found out here from a mom with a slightly older child that our state college system/community colleges are under one president and they have a track for "easy" transition into the state school. Unfortunately it did not work out for her child- the state school Uconn did not accept any of the classes, they did accept the credits but he essentially lost a year. I am not sure if this is a unique situation but it has given me pause when it comes to dual enrollment.
Yes, that is very important to consider. The main school Katie is going to dual enroll with is the same school she plans to attend for college the following year so we won’t have any issues with those classes. The classes at the other school have a very good record of transferring to this school, but even if they don’t she’s only doing French and possibly math there anyway. So she would still get credit by placement exam for those. We researched this heavily for a couple of years because we had heard the same stories.
Hi, I’m homeschooled as well. This video really helped.

Oh boy. I'm sorry that math class has been a bit of a headache for you. I'll be praying it works out the way it needs to be. Very interesting video.

That sounds frustrating. I hope he gets the classes that he needs.

Yes, with SCAIHS they have options for fine arts, STEM and humanities. Katie will get humanities and STEM.

Soo excited for her and this next step. Curious…did y’all have to show SAT/ACT to enroll or just transcripts.

Wow! Katie must be good at math! I know you said she used shormann math for 2 years. What did she use before that?
She used Saxon math from 4th grade through Algebra 1, and Shormann math for Algebra 2, Precalculus and Calculus.

Is there a test requirement before they can enroll?
Some colleges require a certain PSAT or SAT score and some do not. Check with the individual school.
It not cool that u can’t register for maths.
I know. But we have a back up plan if it doesn’t work out, thank goodness.
