    My son who is now a sophomore in college, did dual enrollment in his senior year of high school. The high school guidance counselor was our source of direction for this option. If your students' counselor do not actively share info about dual enrollment, I'd recommend just reaching out to the guidance counselor as they often should know all the details to help students know if they even qualify and what to do to move forward.

    1. How do you complete high School requirements before taking dual enrollment classes?
    2. To get an AA, you need to take 24 credits of electives. So for electives, do you have to take something like art or music, or will extra math or science courses count as electives?
    3. Can you substitute AMH2020 or POS2041 for high school US Govt/ US History?
    Thanks.

      Dual enrollment classes usually count for BOTH high school and college credit. You will need to talk to your high school about enrolling and fulfilling your school/state requirements. Every school is different and will have different requirements.

    I’m currently registered in pre-ib classes and I’m stressing out weather if I should stick with IB or do dual enrollment. However I’ve seen that not every university takes this type of credit from dual enrollment but IB doesnt guarantee that I will get the credit. Do you have any advice😭

    • @TheScholarshipSystem
      @TheScholarshipSystem  Рік тому

      There are two reasons to take dual enrollment or IB classes. 1. Rigor-this shows to colleges that you can take on college-level classes 2. College credit. If you are solely taking it for college credit, research a couple of universities and review their policies for accepting theses classes. Otherwise, either class will look well for establishing rigor.

    Another thing I couldn't get an answer for is, it seems like the English two or three in high school have to be honors only, in order for them to even qualify to take college English... is that true?

      It all depends on the transfer requirements for the institution itself what qualifies - you would want to contact the registrar's office at the college to determine what would be able to be used.

      @@TheScholarshipSystem thank you for your quick response. Excellent information! I will be signing up for the webinar this month. Hoping a combination of AP, CLEP and dual enrollment will will give her a free freshmen year and then scholarships to help cover a good portion of the rest.

    If a homeschooler enrolls in dual enrollment with the parent as the only administrator aware on the high school side, could the parent choose not to include the dual enrollment class on the high school transcript when the student applies to college? I'm curious in case my child gets a C or lower in his first college class as a 16 year old. If he waits until he is 18 to take his first college class, I'm sure he would get an A or B. So I'm nervous about jeopardizing his college GPA by starting this too early. He is looking at dual enrollment classes online in other states and dual enrollment at a local private college. Then he wants to apply to community college for his actual degree. I'm thinking the community college would have no way of knowing about the dual enrollment he does at private colleges. But I'm not sure if his information gets reported to a larger system maybe using the SSN that would allow any college to see his dual enrollment work, kind of like how credit agencies have all records of anything regarding your credit.

      Dual enrollment requirements vary by state and institution. You would need to check with your state's homeschool reporting requirements to ensure your student is on track to meet high school graduation requirements. If there is a database of college classes students take, it's most likely at the state level, not national. However, since college transcripts are usually submitted for admission, all classes will show up for each school, regardless if it shows up on the high school transcript or not.

    My daughter is set to graduate this year from high school and community college. I’ve been advocating on her behalf because our school counselor and community college dual enrollment person don’t really know how to do what we’re doing because it’s never been done there. What questions and forms I need to fill out to make sure my child will still be considered a freshman when she enters the university

      When students take dual enrollment classes, they are normally considered an incoming college freshman. However, there are a few schools that consider them upperclassmen, depending on the credits that transfer over. You will have to check with each school of interest to understand their policies.
