This guy should tour! I would totally see him in concert. (The issue is he plays all the parts, which would be impossible live. I guess he could could hire a band.)
The fullness of your horns and the precision and awesome solos.. this is a top notch cover. Phenomenal work. I'd love to see this incorporated into one of DT's live shows.
Mr. Marc Papeghin your interpretation is absolutely a masterpiece. Your sense of harmony, in a single word for me...WOW!!! It is very uncommon take a song of Dream Theater and avoid to upset it. You, not only don't upset it but (in my opinion) give a great reinterpretation that make it yet more beautiful.
Adoro ver essas versões das músicas do DT.. É UM HINO !!!!!! MEU RESPEITO E ADMIRAÇÃO... PARABÉNS AO TROMPETISTA !!!!!!!!!!!! I loved !!!! Congratulations!!!!!
I come back to this once in a while when I look through my favorites list and the original backing arrangements you have in spots like 1:50 continue to be my favorites! Seamlessly adding another layer to an already great song
Dude, this is so trippy . . . We have like the exact same music taste: Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Dream Theater, Haken, Neal Morse. I also ran into you in the Scores and Soundtracks FB group once lol. Now I just wish I could collab with you on something - I’ve played piano my whole life. This is such a cool cover!!
This is fantastic... very clever additional harmony. And great playing... would be amazing to see a lower voice from the brass family in here... but not taking away from how cool this
at 2:36, it sounds like the guitar riff from A New Beginning. Amazing work ! You managed to mix in many different songs, and it always sounds awesome ! (well, you already had bonus points in the awesomeness mesurement ladder because DT is my favorite band. Putting it together so perfectly though... woaw.)
Holy crap, I couldn't even believe this was a thing in my feed. Amazing work on one of my favorite instrumentals, it's one of the hardest guitar songs I can barely play haha
Truly astonishing! Your arrangements on this are pretty great, especially the ragtime section! Great audio and video editing as well! I truly enjoy your DT covers and arrangements, so please keep them coming and keep up the great work!
I just about crapped myself when I saw this in my feed. The Dance of Eternity and Metropolis, pt. 2 in general were my introduction to Dream Theater, and you rocked the hell out of this, sir. I bet it took a long time to edit all the footage from the DVD in, too. (Also, syncing it to the track... Oh, God.) The lead-in to Jordan's ragtime section was brilliant, and I had chills when you busted out the mute. Baller all around, sir. \m/ Edit: Forgot to mention the callback to Home. Oops. O.O So many things to mention, though... :)
+uematsufreak Thanks man ! Metropolis Pt2 was also my first introduction to DT ( and to prog metal in general ) 15 years ago, so it'll always be a very "special" album to me ! And yeah, it sure took quite some time to record and edit this one ^^
First Symphony X and now DT. I mean, I hear the influences from both bands in your FF arrangements (Octavarium influence with solo flute Fisherman's Horizon? ;)) but this was an amazing cover and gave the song a completely new feel. Keep up the amazing work!
this is absolutely insane, fantastic work!! I loved the parts in which you brought in your own ideas and harmonies along with the original song.. was VERY surprised to hear it work this well with the dance of eternity. even the "home"reference! you are awesome
3:29~3:35 I saw what you did! hahahahaha Home. xD man, your performance was just amazing! No words to express what I'm felling. I'm a trumpet player too, and I wish play as good as you do someday. Congrats from Brazil. Hugs. Like + fav, of course. ;)
so great! why so less views? must have been hard to learn this right? The ragtime part seemed so effortless and smooth, and that Home reference at 3:32 . Sir this is underrated :)
I believe you it was fun. :) It was so much fun watching you play this, you nailed it. So far, the best cover i have seen, you even improvised, just wow :)
Somehow, your covers of Dream Theater make it go from sounding Final Fantasy-ish to "This is definitely a Final Fantasy song". Awesome cover, twould love to see more Dream Theater covers from you! In fact, I didn't even know (somehow) they existed until your first cover of them, and I've been really diggin' it.
+DragoniteSpam Thanks ! Actually it just came out this way, I wanted to reproduce the original "mirror" shot from the live scene at that moment and it just happened to look pretty cool with the silhouette :)
Hey Mark, what is the best embouchure position and shape for the horn. I have a smaller bottom lip and I'd played the horn since Junior and high school and I was having trouble reaching the upper range. Now I'm teaching myself the efficient way of playing lower, middle and upper register octaves without tightening my lips, closing my airpipe, and forcing. Any advice for the embouchure and practice so I could reach the upper range without blowing my lips off. I can reach them but it's costing my lips to tighten and weak after playing, especially in tune and for so long. Any advice? Thanks for reading this
+Okik Darmawan Yes, huge DT and prog metal fan !! Check out the making of the FF8 Medley for more info about that ;) ua-cam.com/video/ThcK9TQUC5Q/v-deo.html
What did I just watch!!! You sir just blew my mind!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😮 Master Piece!!!
I told my wife two weeks ago that there should be a french horn cover of this song! :D
Thank you soo much for this
+Lightningspiner Wow, happy coincidence ! ^^
Unbelievable, you are truly an artist.
Monstrueux ! Chapeau bas...
Merci Philippe !!
I love when you used the notes from "Home" at around 3:30
Really nice, you're a true musician, this is more than a cover!
Thanks man ! I kind of view it as an "alternate version" of the song, I just wanted to add my own touch to it :)
Exactly, this is why I defined it this way, and this is why this version is amazing too :D
Dream Theather should really listen to this version! it's completely insane! :D
Actually John Petrucci once talked in a workshop about "a guy who made some of the songs from DT in french horn... soooo maybe"
I believe his old version of this was played before one of DTs shows.
@@pedrosilvaproductions Oh wow I didn't know that ^^

@@glez90metallica Prog is metal...
Zachary Peterson Actually prog is not metal...they are two different music genres. However you can say prog metal is Metal :D
Ah yes, the french horn, very jazz.
Unbelievable! It works so well with the brass, especially the swing section around 2:20. Dream Theater should play the song with a full brass band.
AND THAT COMBO WALKUP/WALKDOWN @ 5:48 WAS AWESOME
Awesome af!!!! Pure talent. That 1 dislike is Lars Ulrich.

and the next Masterpiece of "Blasmusik" !
The fairecore breakdowns are fucking cool right after 2:00 with the solo! Goosebumps man!
Thanks man ! I had such a blast arranging and recording that one
this is a great band been listening to them for a while

Ainda bem que gostaste ! Obrigado :)
@@Marc_Papeghin Nao por isso... também sou músico ( baixista e pianista )... a música é o dom que ninguém pode nos tirar !!!!!
I have the Images, but I lost the Words after hearing this... Amazing!!
Haha thanks man ! That was a fun (and quite tricky) one to record :D
WOW my dude you didn't have to go this hard but you did and it is amazing I am both figuratively and kind of also literally blown away

Thanks man ! If I could play the trombone well I'd definitely have included some in there :)
In the beginning it totally sounds like a fart, but then the farts start to make sense and it sounds awesome.
Nice work!
2:35 A New Beginning?
Yes it is ! And there are two tiny NOMACs hidden somewhere during that section ;)
Holy crap, I didn't even notice it. Great job with the arrangements.
this is amazing! I hope DT get to see this
2:18 that part sounds so good on trumpet, fantastic job Marc!
I love jazz

Who can see this becoming some DCI show?
Oh man. This was amazing but you made me remember the time when Dream Theater didn't put out albums like The Astonishing ;(
Outstanding!

You should do a cover of Atom Hearth Mother of Pink Floyd... you kind of remindem me of it
Atom Heart Mother is actually one of favorite Floyd songs ! Cool idea :)
Hope to see this one on your channel soon, then :D
That Home reference at 3:22 though
I naturally improvised that while recording it ^^
GREAT!
