Extreme John Williams fan here and highly impressed with your arrangements of his scores! I love the transitions and the hints of his rare pieces in the middle of his well known soundtracks! Your third arrangement has been my favorite (including “Far and Away”) out of the quintet I’ve listened to! Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you very much Shane ! Extreme John Williams fan here too as you probably guessed ^^ Very glad you enjoyed that mix of famous scores and less-known/more obscure ones, I guess only big JW fans can recognize everything in there ;)
Bless you! Honestly, thank you so much for inspiring me. I will never stop playing the French horn and I started playing because of you. I have so much respect for you. Awesome job!
The first draft I did of that medley didn't feature that high D, it's only after recording the whole thing that I felt something was "missing" during that part ! I tried it, and thought it sounded pretty cool :)
Can I just say that this is one absolutely amazing piece or work!! I really really like your excerpt from 7 years in Tibet and from Schindler list!! Amazing work man!! I'm also a horn player that's been playing for 7 years now
First of all amazing Job! I already bought a few of your arrangements. However, I cant find this one in particular. Do you have the sheet music available for Part III? The one I see in your website is part I (which I already bought). Please send me the link if available. Thank you!
What's the small part from 0.47-1.09? Which film and which track on the film's album? It's really simple yet beautiful and I'd love to be able to hear a little more! Your playing is fantastic and highlights exactly why I've now taken up the french horn as it's such a lovely instrument! Thanks for sharing your talent with us :)
Thank you very much Jess ! The section from 0:47 to 1:09 is taken from Amistad and the track is called "Adam's Summation". You can listen to it here : ua-cam.com/video/xJaNRCc088Y/v-deo.html
It's all about playing a lot and trying to overcome your limits ! Don't limitate yourself to the traditional horn repertoire, try and play anything you like :) 頑張ってください ! また、この男のビデオをチェックアウトする必要があります:ua-cam.com/channels/jnNbzG_e4K3E7AILcA9fog.html
Excuse me sir , that's some phenomenal French horn playing. I wanted to ask you what gave you that rich beautiful tone ? I'm a French horn player and I really want to improve my tone , as well as improve on range . Any tips on both ?
For range do lip slurs that go up into your high range. There isn't really a trick, the only way you're gonna get good at playing high is just playing high. Don't tense up and pinch your lips, high notes need faster air that normal notes. Maybe try changing the angle at which the mouthpiece touches/ presses on your face. BUT don't rely on pressure.
+king_luna_16 thank you very much ! I'm going to implement that in to my practice regime , I'm definitely going to milk out the higher ranges because that's the bread and butter of the French horn . God bless you !
And make sure that you practice equally low as well. Playing low helps you learn how to have the air speed and quantity to be able to play high notes stable and consistent.

What horn(s) do you use. This info is probably somewhere but tbh I wouldn’t know where to look. Only if it was at an easy access point with a Mouthpeice too (cough cough DESCRIPTION). But seriously what horn and Mouthpeice please😁

I've been playing for seven years and made state every year so far... I tear up at that high D. Thank you...
this man makes a french horn sound like a trumpet and a tuba somehow. i love horn so much.
From one horn player to another - Brilliant!
Thanks man !
That high D at 2:22 is insanely good
2:21 is what you hear when you are ascending towards the heavens

Cada día te superas más, Marc. Es fabuloso!!!
The music from Saving Private Ryan is some of Johns best work. Very evocative of Aaron Copland if you ask me.
Yes it is !
I did not see that D. I was surprised to say the least. Holy mother of god it sounds good too
The first draft I did of that medley didn't feature that high D, it's only after recording the whole thing that I felt something was "missing" during that part ! I tried it, and thought it sounded pretty cool :)

You should do a Classical Music video! Or do a video dedicated to The William Tell Overture (Lone Ranger song)!
とってもかっこいいです!!!!
ありがとうございます !! :)

Saving Private Ryan, by Steven Spielberg

It's Far and Away, with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman :) ( one of my favorite JW scores ! )
Really nice job! And what's the movie at 6:50?
+Sherman Kyle Thank you ! That's Seven Years in Tibet

The movie's called Stepmom and it features Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts ;)

Alex what’s cool is that movie was made in the 90s
ok dumb question but ive only beeb playing for a little over a year can someone link me to a place or just right a way to read base clef for horn
Reading bass clef for horn is no different than reading bass clef for any other instrument, but in case you're not used to reading bass clef there's some really cool videos on YT to help you with that ! Here's one of them ;) ua-cam.com/video/PMk-q5LCiAs/v-deo.html
Marc Papeghin - French Horn thanks also is there a place i can purchase your music or is it published?
Do you use different mouthpieces for parts that are particularly high or low?
Nope, all recorded with my good old Schilke 30 :)
What horn(s) do you use. This info is probably somewhere but tbh I wouldn’t know where to look. Only if it was at an easy access point with a Mouthpeice too (cough cough DESCRIPTION). But seriously what horn and Mouthpeice please😁
Holton H179 and Schilke 30 ;)
Marc Papeghin thank you so much
How do you get the timing so perfectly if you are recording seperately? Do you use a metronome.
Yep ! I always record with headphones and a click track
What's the movie from 11:40 - 11:53?
That would be 1941 by Steven Spielberg
Marc Papeghin Thank you so much. You are amazing. It would take me more than 640 characters to tell you. Thank you for sharing your gift.
do you know of any good fundamentals on horn to practice or for a warm up? I play the horn but I want to get better at my tone quality.
long tones.
thanks!
Long tones ascending and descending work.
thank you king_luna_16
What's the theme at 7:50?
It's the main theme from The Accidental Tourist
Marc Papeghin thanks - just listened to the original. I much prefer the harmony of your arrangement
Did you have the score for the Saving Private Ryan cue?
I didn't! Did this one by ear ;)
Marc Papeghin that’s awesome! I did a transcription of that section as well! It’s a truly remarkable piece of music.
Oh yes it is ! As pretty much everything JW wrote :)
Marc Papeghin I agree 100%!
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeahhhhhhhhh !!!!! :) :)
What movie at 3:21?
Far and Away
Thanks.
How long have you been playing French horn?
I started at 8 and am now 31 ;)

Why is Saving Private Ryan so short :/?
What’s the movie at :55?
That would be Amistad, wonderful movie by Steven Spielberg ;)
Schindrer's list
Disappointed about the lack of "the Cowboys" but it's was still amazing!
Mmmh, did you watch it until the end ? 9:41 ;)
+Marc Papeghin - French Horn what are the odds that at the moment I was writing the comment the Cowboys was playing lol
