oi oi slippy thats more like the scotland i know bloody cold hahaha fair play to your young lady she is not shy when it comes to rock hopping shame she did not manage to catch a nice size fish but hey up she will be whooping you soon mate .. looking forward to the next video .. take care have fun and tight lines
Yeah she's game for most climbs but told me where to go on some of the marks at wanted to fish 🤣 She kicked my arse at bass fishing last year, hence the reason why there's no video 🤣
You always find such amazing, out of the way venues. The scenery, the wildlife, everything. And capture it so well at ground level and with the drone.👏👍 Add to that your presentation and enthusiasm, why wouldn't I want to be subscribed. 👌👍 And now a new member to the team. 👍 I'm guessing she does the choreography. 😁😁😉 Thank you for sharing.👏👍👌 Stay safe. 😷
I get such a lot of pleasure out of watching you videos Slippy - it's a brilliant break from the humdrum realities of everyday life. Thankyou - and keep on doing what you're doing. Regards to Lucie too - she's a diamond!
Aye, she did well on some of those descents. There were some I wanted to try but she told told me 'politely' that there was no chance of her going down there 😄
great video mate , also good to see lucy out with you shes getting hooked tho chap it wont be long before shes out fishing you mate , all the best to you both
She's a natural! I took her bass fishing for the first time last summer and she beat me on her first session. Good job I can edit her catches out so I don't look bad 🤣🤣
Hi Slippy, glad you enjoyed some fishing up here in Orkney. Well done finding marks as can be tricky to find enough depth. Im out most weeks for the Pollock. That was a short-eared owl you saw btw. They hunt during the day and can be pretty big. Seem to have done really well up here this year - seen loads of them. Were swooping down at us in June when they must have had little uns. Like to see you back to try your luck with the cod.
Well spotted, it was blowing gale while we were there but thankfully it was a westerly so were sheltered by the cliffs. It is fishy but hard to find deep water
You find some amazing places to fish and explore looks like you're both having a great break, plus nice Pollack n wildlife too. . Enjoy 👍 stay safe tight lines 🎣🎣
I'm a very lucky lad! Location always plays a big part in choosing marks to fish, I'd much rather blank at a place like this than be hauling in the fish on a busy pier. Thanks as always and tight lines mate👍🎣
I haven't given them a go yet but have heard good things and half the price of the Fiiish alternative. I'll get some ordered the next time I do a bit of shopping. Tight lines mate 👍 🎣
How unpredictable the weather can be but very enjoyable video again, think the pair of you maybe rivals for Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing, excellent keep em coming.
You should have brought the yak, we have been catching cod, pollock and haddock off the brough of Birsay. And big dogs off Deerness. Good to see you have found some marks and fish.
Eyup Nathan. Well I'm back and I notice in the comments that everyone has been completely taken with Lucie. What a wonderful new facet in the cut of this glittering channel. She is the very epitome of charm and I would dare to observe without fear of contradiction, of the 'glad grace' that moved W B Yeats to pen his great work of romantic poetry. All of this new joy, brilliantly counterpointed in your edit by a Fulmar rolfing up onto the camera in POV is an entertainment dynamic that your peers can surely only admire in silent astonishment. I do not subscribe to Mr Locker's channel and can claim no special privilege of knowledge here, but I'll wager a tidy sum that no chicks will be seen squirting on his lens any time soon. I wish you and Lucie continued happiness and good fishing and I'll sithi after, Dave.
I'm at the opposite end of the country , got easterly winds mild to strong, you can catch ballan wrasse all day long on soft plastics but no pollock or bass reccied a mark today , for tomorrow 🤞 tight lines
@@SlippyLimpets got down there ...easterlys all week but you have to make the most of it. Had some stunning ballan wrasse , plagued by pouting . You would have been proud though scaled a cliff near lizard peninsula stunning Mark, I'm 💯sure right tides right winds bass city , all I caught were some massive cornish mackerel no bass ...I'm blaming the easterlys that's my story and I'm sticking to it 😁🐟
If it's any consolation, John Locker says the same thing about easterlies down there. At least you landed some fish though. I've fished the Lizard and it is tough access, good going getting down👍🎣
Slippy , you know how many times you try ...blank ..but every time you go same excitement same hope thats why I love fishing ...out tomorrow high tide 7 pm be there 5.30 😁🐟 living is learning tight lines
I took the trebles off, like I always do, soI didn't get snagged as much but I used a model of single I hadn't tried before...turns out they're not the best
@@SlippyLimpets I did consider that was why. Getting tangled in kelp isn't my idea of fun either. I much prefer a sandy bottom with kelp runs either side if possible.
Great video and wildlife. Think you have been lucky enough to see a Snowy Owl rather than a Barn Owl - very rare bird but location and time of day is right for Snowy Owl and wrong for Barn Owl and Lucies' comment of it being 'massive' is key.
I hope so, I've never seen a Snowy Owl so would be great if it was. Other suggestions have been a short eared owl which are apparently pretty common up there. I need to swat up on my owls!
First day was on Hoxa Head and the 2nd day was Mull head on Deerness. Spinning up there is tough but rewarding. Glad you liked the vid and tight lines 👍 🎣
Have you tried circle hooks? You seem to be losing fish a lot. I swap the hooks on lures for slightly bigger hooks,I found that the fish were taking the lures, but the hooks weren't contacting the fish (too small)
I've been using 1/0 Decoy jiggin' hooks to replace trebles for years and not had any problems with them so thought the 3/0 would be just as good. Obviously is was wrong. Thanks for the suggestion, circle hooks make sense so will give them a go!
Haha your right about that mate! We tried to fish a new mark each time out but had a late start on the last day so returned to the same area, but looked for new ground to fish. Video out tomorrow, if I can get the edit finished in time
The weather seems to have been against me this year, whenever I want to go out on the yak, the wind has been blowing 30+. Hopefully get out soon though
@@SlippyLimpets My pleasure. I'd had the ignominy of my then girlfriend spending the afternoon with me before she went to work. She caught a 2-3lb fish after dropping the rod and having a break. Me. Nothing. After 8 hours I hadn't had a sniff. In the last 25 minutes before the sun finally set I landed 6 fish. The final one a 6lb Pollack. It was the biggest fish that I'd ever caught. It gave me a fair whack in the face with its tail too. I rushed home and chorizo and bacon was what I had in the fridge. It was fantastic. My only regret, no fresh herbs to add to the cavity with the chorizo.
Another great vid and you've beaten the Locker boy to it! 👍
He's giving me a head start this week 😄 glad you liked the vid👍🎣

I didn't know she'd done the dance until I finished editing- she's a cheeky one😄 Glad you enjoying them👍

It is lush up there mate, a wee bit different from whitley 🤣
Very enjoyable video from both of you. Looking forward to seeing Lucie landing her fish, she is so enthusiastic. Till the next one, cheers.

Seems mine is better for bass rather than pollack 🤣
another cracking video and the colours of the fish are brilliant
They are, loads more colour than the fish up at eyemouth and St abbs
We couldn't bu buy a bite when we were there last summer.
It was either shallow and sandy or 80ft cliffs.
Great fishing.
You're right about that, it does seem to be a place of extremes!
Great video mate as always fishing and filming in some of the locations you go cant be easy but its always spot on.
The hardest thing is the extra large and weight of the pack, really enjoy the filming side so worth the effort. Glad you liked it 👍
Fair play to Mrs SL climbing up and down those cliffs 💪 Funny how you were saying the hooks were too big and then catch that tiddler 😂🎣🦈
I know, it's unbelievable that it managed to get that 3/0 anywhere near it's mouth!!
