Waukesha engines were pretty good runners. I like the Waukesha script on the radiator. I think they had side panels also but that would be the first thing a farmer throws on the junk pile.Al B.
Man.. you have the lifestyle most could only daydream about Tim. I see all these Old Treasures and notice how green with envy I get. Thanks for your sharing.
On your next recovery video or auction video when you buy a car or cars, can you try and film the undercarriage, frame floors etc. Always curious to see how bad they are sitting where they've been for decades. Great video as usual, keep up the good work.
Rear plastic filler panels on the Monte look real good, those have yet to be reproduced, too bad the dash wasn't cracked it has some good parts and sheet metal on it. The Datsun wagon appears low mile with the original tires on it, perhaps had an electrical issue and parked. That one was a real good score!
It was interesting how the 75 Monte Carlo was optioned. It was the upmarket Landau, and those were the standard Landau wheels. (In 1974 GM ran out of Landau wheels so they gave a credit for not having them & then usually put wire wheel covers on them + charged for them.) Bumper guards but no bumper rub strips. Tilt wheel. Crank windows. I believe the front seat was an option upgrade. it's like individual bench seats but the seat part is not shared between driver + passenger. The remote sport mirrors were part of the Landau package. I know, all useless information!
I'm glad you shared your very accurate knowledge of Ladau pkg. standard options. I have a very original low mileage 76 Landau equipped just like the brochure states.with bench seat. 60/40 recliner was optional. I have 3 parts cars ,One is a very original 77 Landau with plain chrome bumpers? Maybe dealer delete option order car?
@@richceglinski7543 I'm no expert but I worked at a Chevy dealer during this time + one of my jobs was checking vehicles dropped off by Anchor Motor Freight for any damages. So I got to see what was on the window stickers. During 1973 1974 Monte Carlos were in demand. My dealer had it's own leasing company, so he could order new Monte Carlos as a "leased" car. And he loaded them with as many options as he could because he knew they would sell. GM back them loved the options as people kept adding them on when ordering a car. The Monte came standard with plain bumpers. You could order the impact strip front and rear, also bumper guards F & R. It was rare to see a standard Monte without a vinyl roof back then. The landau had the 1/2 roof standard. The Landau sold very well as people wanted those little extras the Landau offered. Out Montes and Chevelles came from either Baltimore MD or Oshawa Canada. Boy have times changed!
Most of the full size Pontiacs in 1970 had a 400. My guess is that this car was a 400 2 bbl. My family had two 1970 Catalina's, both were 400 2 bbl. First time I seen a 1970 Pontiac hood opened up that way. The whole front clip on the 73 Malibu wagon looked straighter than the Monte Carlo.
I had a girlfriend that drove a late 70's Datsun wagon (710, I think). The head gasket blew on it, so the boss of the shop I was working at, let me work on it there. Very cool owner! Love the Aussie Shepherd.
Norge (Rules with George) appliances were produced until 1974 under that name and then absorbed by several other larger groups until they eventually became a part of Maytag. One plant was located in Muskegon, Ml... I had several aquaintances who were employed there on occasion.
There is 1 item these guys need in their kit. It would make their lives a lot easier and cut the time needed to pull and load a car in half for sure! You can buy or make one? Chainsaw winch! They are light, powerful and portable. They can be attached to any tree or solid point in minutes and it would keep their trucks and trailers out of the nasty stuff.
Pack Rats partying hard, as usual. The 510 was a great pic, not many left that are that good. Lots of farmers, rural folk employed a "cut line" to keep stuff in service. It was the "store" of first resort.
Hey Tim Joe is standing in front of a JD LUS combine power unit. It has the L,La tractor hood and grille. Super rare. BUY IT! Don't let it get Scraped! AL B.

@@sallybrokaw6124 This is not my story, but of a cousins buddy out in Washington or Idaho back in the 70s; apparently the guy had befriended an older farmer at the waning years of his life. The farmer was dispersing various items in anticipation of retirement home life. One of the pieces of equipment that didn't sell was an old JD boLindemann crawler that I think was stuck. But he offered it to the guy for free if he'd just be able to save it from the scrapman; however the guy had no way to move it or store it & had to pass. Another sweet score. Good show, as I am watching this in the late evening and it really relaxed me after a heck of a day for me and the wife doing a yard sale. Shoot, there are so many times that I wish I could jump right in there and help out, 😄 haha!
Ford Torino on the side anyone??I would like to know know how and why that happened lol It's certainly an epic adventure going to places like that! Good content Mr Goodpliers!
When you need the transmission and don't care about the rest of the vehicle, you take your loader and tip the car on its side and take the transmission out while standing up. Lots more comfortable working while standing than laying on your back in the dirt and leaves.
Yup ! .... Easy Jack's ...... the legendary salvage yard outside of Junction City, Kansas ! Last time I was there was in November 2017...... what a great place ! It was a damn shame about that Pontiac. Too bad you couldn't determine what size was the engine.
The 73 Chevelle front clip is probably worth 800 to 1,000 if complete and not terribly Rusty. The 70 Catalina should be a 400 but could be a 428 or a 455. You need a rake to clean off the nest and see what it is. The fan shroud on the Catalina is probably the same as a 1969 - 70 GTO and would be quite valuable. And it probably has a nice big Harrison 4 row radiator. I'd also look under the back end of that Catalina for a 12-bolt rear end. And a turbo Hydro 400 transmission would be a nice score. I would have hauled out the Chevelle Wagon and the Catalina before I took the Monte Carlo or the Datsun wagon. Much better value in those two.
The reason we couldn't get it open was because the front bumper had been pushed into it, thus damaging it. It was rusty too. We wouldn't have opened it that way if the hood was any good.
You know what's sad is nowadays 12-year-olds to 18 year olds could not do this I started working on cars when I was five and there ain't too much I can't do but moving cars like this if you were to hand it over so let's say 16 year old kids nowadays 9 out of 10 of them couldn't do this job that's what America is turning into get your children involved side by side with you if you want them to stand a chance to be able to work with their hands

Last property I cleaned out like that I went in there with an excavator with the thumb claw it made it easier to grab cars and stack two on truck at a time .
Most likely a 400 or a 455. The last year for the 389 was 1966. The 400 came out in '68. Might be a 428. This is a '71. My Dad and I almost bought a 70 Bonneville with a 428 in it.
Malibu wagon looks like it might be in decent shape..might actually be worth more than the Monte Carlo...and that Ford truck..I know it's rough, but it is a '60's Ford truck....
Unfortunately the 60s Ford truck had caught fire and burned completely out. Decades of fire damaged metal sitting in the elements left it corroded pretty bad. It was so disappointing that I didn't even remember to get much of any footage of it.
That Nissan 5 door Wagon at ten seventeen with the non oem roof rack is definitely a keeper, do what that other Salvage goon does and redo the car l won't say the channel name but it like a dessert with shop after it. My mom had that same Datsun 510 only it was an automatic. Great fun to drive around the fields.
Props to that Monte Carlo for growing moss to match the paint.
