72 hour power reserve I believe, not 64. Just picked one up in Green with the bracelet. Very nice watch for the price. Competes well with my Aquaracer and Oris Aquis.
Great review (as usual)! My problem will be the crown and the crown guards that (it seems) sticking out too much. Big crowns are convenient but often cause an excessive contact with the wrist to the point of irritating blisters.
I'm a big Longines fan (though I only have one) but love this style and might add it down the road. A few other models have my eye right now. Very nice and informative review. Thanx
That watch looks so good on the wrist, as you say the downward curved lugs help a lot. It just goes to show that you should not go by the measurements alone, try it on in the flesh and see how it feels is best if you can. The green colorway with the mat dial works really well for at a glance readability as well. Like you I have no problem with a stamped clasp as they are thinner and lighter than milled. I don't spend every waking moment looking at the clasp.
Thanks for the great review! I am so happy that you compared the size of the 41mm to the Breitling Superocean 42mm. I was worried the 41mm would wear small, but since I own the Breitling, you helped me with my decision.
I just purchased this model this week. Fantastic diver, and I thought the exact thing, this is a literal cousin to the Breitling. I think the clasp is almost identical. Great review thanks!
Thank you "Mr Rob" for another excellent review! I have myself bought the former model of the Longines Hydro Conquest in "gold" and steel with the blue dial and bezel. Our mutual friend Bruce Williams was not so keen on that particular model due to the fact that it had the additional "rectangles" on every hour marker. I can agree that the ceramic models look "cleaner", but really, you get used to the look and I really love it. I have never really liked watches with "gold" added, but this model really pops when the blue and the gold are combined on the bezel and dial and the subtle red arrow on the seconds hand move. I have heard that many UA-camr´s pronunce the name "LONGINES" with the "S" in the end. The correct pronunciation should be "LONGINE", drop the "S". Best regards, Ulf Hellerström of Sweden
The dial in the model you have definitely looks much better! This one has too much blank real estate, and doesn't look as classy as the previous model.
Thanks for the review Rob, I have just bought the Blue dial 41mm ceramic bezel. I agree with you about the clasp, it’s ok I like it, one thing I did find though whilst playing with different sizing for my wrist is if I tried to use the 3rd micro adjust hole, I couldn’t get the divers extension to close properly. I like the crown guards but if they where slightly thinner it would be easier to unscrew and screw down the crown. My verdict is I love this watch and am very glad I bought it.
With that great ETA 2892-A2 based movement, decent sizing, decent lume, great 120 click bezel action - the polished bracelet + stamped clasp is not even a dealbreaker for me personally.
Great longines , I have had the previous model with out the ceramic bezel . But I could find a sweet spot to size for my wrist which is a shame as I like the up grade . The stainless steel strap dug into my wrise with the sharp edges . But the watch its self regardless of the 41 mm fitted perfect on my 7.2 inch wrise
For half the money, the Longines shits all over the Breitling. The longines has a superior 2892 where as the Breitling uses either a 2824 and more recently a Sellita SW200. Fit and finish of the cases is near identical! Also, Breitling charges close to $350 for the rubber deployant buckle on its own so yeah, id expect it to be better than the deploy on the Longines!
You get sooo much bang for your buck with Longines! You could compare this to an Omega Planet Ocean. With Swatch, you almost get an Omega at a Longines price.
They are comparable in some ways, but then again, not really. I had the current Seamaster 300 and have Aqua Terra, and just today I bought the exact Hydroconquest from Robs Video (on rubber). While it is a great watch for around 1.300 Euros, it is not at all in the league of an Omega for 5.000 Euros.
@@Schlock3000 Oh yeah. I agree. I have a $5,000 USD Planet Ocean. I'm just saying, you get a great value with Longines 😀. Aqua Terra is next purchase for me. Although, the Longines Spirit........
I'm stuck between this one and an Oris Aquis. Blue dial in either, but throw the 65 into the mix for a vintage feel and it just makes for a brutal decision. Maybe just buy all 3!?
Great brand and very well made. High quality control, obviously. For the money, so much better than a Breitling or Tag, which in my opinion are more hype and name recognition than quality for the money. I wouldn't own either as there are dozens of both major and micro brands making equal or better pieces for less than half the cost. As for Longines, this is the one I own (I paid about $1,200 brand new last month) but I think even full retail is a decent price for what you get here.
That is debatable for sure, I have a several Carreras including one with a skeletonised Heuer 02 movement, and the quality is right up there with Omega (for less money when compared to speedmaster). Yes Tag and Breitling make some quartz pieces that are pricey for what they are, but so does Omega. This Longines is nicely made, but a bit bland and they could have made an effort to colour match the date wheel.
Have the previous (aluminium bezel) version and have never noticed the dot AND 9!! Also, I brushed the centre links and it’s way better IMO - I just layed the bracelet out flat and used a Scotchbrite pad in long straight swipes. Thanks RR :)
I love bracelets but I find daily use , computer use, just banging around and living in hot Florida that straps are so much better (rubber). I like this Hydro alot but I feel like those markers are being tucked away at the edges. I do like Breitling but as you said it's a bigger price point and they are thicc. Wish they put the date at the 6 o'clock for symmetry
So i ordered the 39mm in blue with the aluminium bezel, when it arrived I wasn't impressed, bezel looked too busy and the whole watch felt cheap and nasty. I took the watch back to the store for a refund and came across this exact model with the ceramic bezel, and what a difference, the bezel is much cleaner looking and the whole watch feels much more solid and better built, I really can't explain why but the difference between 39mm aluminium bezel to this 41mm ceramic bezel is like night and day. So I exchange to the green ceramic and couldnt be happier 🙃
I have the aluminum bezel in black, the Lume is not as good with the C3 vs this one with the BGW9, which is disappointing given the nature of this watch. Sounds like the upgrade to the ceramic bezel was worth it, maybe I should look into trading up.
honestly, the only reason I did not purchase this watch is the polished bracelet which makes it look cheap and it's easy scratchable. It would be lovely with a jubilee proper bulit bracelet but not aftermarket.
I would have jumped on this if it had a better clasp and bracelet wasn't such a scratch magnet. Would it be too much to ask from Longines to do a clasp and bracelet similar to that of the Formex Reef or the even the Christopher Wards that have nice adjustable clasps?
I bought a mumbai special mechanical automatic citizen for 40 bucks and got that itch to spend scratched. It keeps good time and I don't mind it getting scratched. Thriftiness is a virtue.
I seem to own one of these. Bought new at an AD, it stopped after 2 hours. It would not run for more than 2 hours without stopping. Was sent back under warranty a month ago and I stil don't have it back, the dealer told me that he expects it to be back in 2 weeks. My first and last Longines, zero customer service.
Looks great in the green and would look stellar with the green strap. Had one in 43mm and it looked huge on my 7.5'" wrist. The crown guards are too prominent in my opinion.
Longines, I'm especially keen on their Heritage collection, so much variety. Something there for everyone's tastes really. I love the simplicity of the Military series within this collection
I bought this recently and was dissapointed in the overall build including poor bracelet and clasp. I think my Certina DS Action Divers are better built if you dont include the movement.
I own this exact model and it's easily my favorite diver in my collection. I wear it on the rubber usually because I hate polished links. This is a no brainer purchase for anyone in the market. Can easily be found right at or below $1k.
For such a wrist like yours over 7 inch the size is alright but for 6.75 inch it will be big and chunky and unfortunately they don’t make 39mm version anymore so i pass this hydro. Thanks for the great video!👌

I have this one and my wrist is also 6.75 inches. It doesn't really feel big. I have a 44mm watch that fits okay. I guess the best option is to try it out once you get the chance
@ it is your preferences that you can tolerate oversized watches, me not, i used to have very big watches years ago, still i can’t believe how big they were. 44-45mm watches😀 now my limit is 40mm , the most 41 if it is diver. But some watches wears big, looks bigger than it is. I have 39mm conquest and that looks sometimes big as it wears over 40mm🤷🏻
Sad to say this, why is the case side having a brushed surface which is damn ugly? Whereas, why does the cheaper quartz version L3.740.4.96.6 have a much better looking polished case sides? Shouldn't it be opposite or both polished? What the hell is Longines thinking? This is a major design flaw and puts me off into getting one because I love to get the automatic Rose Gold version which is also having the same brushed surface problem.
Love this watch…..would go with the 39mm duh…..thought would be my next watch, don’t care about the clasp but 21mm!?!??!!!?!??!!?!?!!?!? Why? Longines….why? Now I needed rethink again!
They'll both be good quality. I have an Oris and it's magnificent. I recommend you consider that the oris has special lugs so you can't put on your own strap, and also consider which you think looks better. It's about you
The Oris has better build quality, every YT comparison will confirm it. However, it "only" has a standard SW200 movement, whereas the Longines has an ETA2893 which is much better.
Funny... that thing looked pretty boring to me - run-of-the-mill Swiss diver and all that. Until you put it on your wrist that is. Still not sure if this would be my cup of tea, but it's definitely worth checking out in person.
Dreadful watch. I owned a blue ceramic - the clasp is atrocious, it's too heavy, the crown guards hit you in the hand, the bezel action is OK-ish so long as your hands are dry. It looks as though it was designed by a committee. Forget about mixing it up with straps - the lug is cut so precisely that it's almost impossible to get the tool in and grab the spring bar shoulder. Other than that, the movement is pretty good and around +3 s/d. I was ecstatic when I sold it.
what use is knowing if a watch has 120 click bezel - I mean it's of no use whatsoever. Only a pro diver would use the bezel anyway and I'm pretty sure they won't be counting the clicks, more like watching the minute hand timing the minutes until they can fully resurface.

Longines hydroconquest is incredible. I have the gray dial version and I absolutely love it
72 hour power reserve I believe, not 64. Just picked one up in Green with the bracelet. Very nice watch for the price. Competes well with my Aquaracer and Oris Aquis.
Older version was 64 hours though also I believe some of the ceramic models got it in the first year of release
Bought the grey/rose gold version. It looks and feels fabulous. I set the time when I got it 3 months ago and since then it's gained one second.
He'll yeah. Mine is insanely regulated in all 6 pos.
