Jon, I raised my son as a single mother and an active duty Marine. I married a man I shouldn't have when my son was 8 because I believe a child needs a mom and a dad, ESPECIALLY a son. When that man divorced me when my son was 12 and I was medically retired from.the USMC, I knew that I had to move across the country to New Orleans where my son's verbally and mentally abusive father was, where I knew no one because even a misguided man was better for my child than no father figure at all. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it was the best choice for my son. Parents must sacrifice their comfort for their children. I respect what you are doing now. I loved you as the Punisher. It's my favorite show and I wish there was more to watch but when I think of the fight scenes it makes me smile. Semper Fi.

How in the hell you gone justify having a misguided man to help your son. Than not have one he’s going to repeat the misguided history

Hey Jon, I’ve worked with Goat the past six years and I can truly say that he really does all of the things he says. He talks to the young guys from the temp agency that are headed down the wrong path. He’s a great coworker and even better person. Thanks for that awesome interview and knowing Goat personally, it’s great to see those guys voices being heard. Peace

Ok. Wow. I was not familiar with the Bottoms before; really glad I listened. This is the kind of history we should have learned in school. Really appreciate Bam Bam and Goat explaining the sense of community that guided their activities. The respect they continued to hold for others - even when treated inhumanly in prison - is humbling. Thanks for this episode!

Honestly, Jon, I find it crazy that you're speaking to the other half on behalf of the rest of us... When I was 16 my brother went to prison for 8.5yrs and I joined the Marines at 17 to get out of the situation that we grew up in by other means. Before we left we hated each other and now we have a mutual understanding of our situation and have grown much closer than we ever were growing up. When my brother got out I let him tat me as his first tattoo outside. He added to my sleeve and I won't let him change anything about the tat he gave me then.

Just watching these in the last couple days has improved and deepened my perspective and knowledge on several things. I'm realizing that even someone like myself who values open-mindedness and discourse haven't been listening to enough non-celebrities and non-media voices. This is awesome and important as hell

I spoke with a couple of young black men and they have said that alot of senseless fights and shooting are due to the perception that they were disrespected and pride takes over. Cause alot of them have no adult males ( ie father) around the home teaching them to become men. So they "learned from gangs or other fatherless young men. The welfare state, lost community vibe, and lack of trade schools needs to be address.

I had to learn a little thing called “hustling.”NOONE went down to the Bottoms fuckin around. They came correct. The business I had with some of them in my airbrush shop in St. Vincent was always respectable. I looked up to some of those men. I’m sure they earned the respect of the city but they were treated like a fucking mob. It was bullshit. BxBz….
