- While reading a fairytale, Tabitha (Erin Murphy) uses her powers to bring Hansel and Gretel (Eric Chase and Cindy Henderson) into the real world without her parents (Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick Sargent) knowing.
From Season 8 Episode 10 'Hansel and Gretel in Samanthaland' - After Tabitha zaps Hansel and Gretel out of the story, Samantha must enter it to go after the runaway Tabitha.

Little Adam was so cute.
This is cute. Early on, when Tabitha was a todler, she could pop characters out of a story. As she got older, she figured out how to do both, pop out characters and pop into a story.
I love SAMANTHA AND THE BEANSTALK when Tabitha played havoc with the giant. The dialogue between Tabitha and the giant is priceless.
One can understand why Sam and Darrin were nervous about sending their kids to school, or letting them spend the night at a neighbors or, with her mother-in-law. Even letting a friend come to visit can cause issues as in SISTERS AT HEART.
Love it.
Elizabeth is so beautiful here. Her scene with Billie Hays is hilarious

One thing I noticed about this show as a kid was the fact that there was a lot of downing of cocktails

Usually on TV shows where the characters are shown drinking alcohol, whatever is actually in the glass is not alcoholic, it just looks alcoholic. But I’ve heard that on Bewitched when the characters drank alcohol they were drinking real alcohol. I wonder if any of the actors ever got too tipsy to act.

I DO remember VIVIDLY all the episodes of "Bewitched" and THIS one, in particular, is really VERY FUNNY and it actually goes BEYOND the entertainment boundaries!
For instance....
Tabitha is just an INOCENT infant, and a good structure little girl, very good educated and with a heart of GOLD!
She just happens to have these AMAZING powers beyond her control and understanding!
I specially, LOVE, the part where she says: "My parents always taught, Adam and me, to SHARE!!"
Like, sharing a slide of cake, or some cookies or a sandwich or a glass of milk when you find someone honestly HUNGRY!
Not just a SILLY old TV Show with a lame plot, right?!

Bewitched had charm, through and through. I would love to have seen a cool series based on Tabitha and Adam.

Tatitha is one of the only redeeming things about that last season of Bewitched.
Yes. Elizabeth Montgomery clearly wanted out of the show, many of the episodes were remakes, and the not-really-a-European-vacation wasn't very good except for a few episodes. Tabitha is the bright spot though since she finally got to do more.

Hansel and gretel end up at an evil witch's house and the evil witch wants to eat the children
In the end the evil witch dies
If I had children who were witches I don't think I would want to be reading that story until they were old enough for me to do some explaining

What is Samantha thinking
If she weren't a witch and her children weren't witches I would say what's the harm
Unless of course you don't want to teach your children that it's okay to accuse people of being a witch and then burning them like they used to do
A lot of innocent women died because someone accused them of being witches
Now anyone who doesn't have any concerns about all of this why go right ahead
It's no big deal

But for Samantha I would have liked to have this discussion with her and ask her how she was going to approach all of this

Most people see it the way you do
In a way I am biased towards Wicca and witchcraft the way it is practiced today
They just do things slightly differently than the way I do it and there is no harm in that

Always loved the scene wherein Darren is walking the neighborhood in Tates-and-clients-over-for-dinner attire and calling out "Hansel...Gretel...Hansel...Gretel..." and then stops to ask the guy who's hosing a car down in a driveway if he's seen them...

Endora once read that story to baby Tabitha but in her version it was about a pair of gluttonous vandals harassing a lonely untroublesome witch.
Is it just me, or were this Hansel and Gretle totally creepy looking. What was up with that makeup and shaved eyebrows? Creepy.
I'm guessing they were trying to make them look like storybook illustrations, but it's just weird.

Yup, and (tobacco) smoking, too --from '57-'73, my grandparents owned a Main Street restaurant/bar/hotel in a town of ~7K next door to a bigger college town, and every reputable grownup possessed of discretionary income and without a need to supervise rugrats at nite would go out for a steak & baked potato dinner (w/salad bar and a dessert of cake or pie with a scoop of ice cream), washed down by an obligatory accompanying torrent of adult beverages, several nites a week and year upon year while puffing away two-fisted the entire time ...only to spend the last decade of their lives wheezing for breath and ailing with pickled livers and chests aching from labored breathing and clogged coronary arteries
Just look at annual nationwide road death figures from the '60s, with barely half of today's population; scant vehicular design/safety standards; bench seats with lap belts (and no shoulder harnesses, much less laws requiring their use, and airbags yet to be invented); no vehicular child-safety requirements whatsoever; and of course people getting totally plastered and then behind the wheel as a matter of routine; wild 'n crazy times --thanks for the reminiscence lol!
