It just seems to be like any other folding stove with pot, all your paying extra for is the fluxring and the name... it almost seems like jetboil are just trying whether people will pay over the odds for something just because its jetboil
I think it's expensive and aimed at a particular type of hiker. I watched a video from a channel called the trail hunter. The fuel efficiency is twice as good as the pocket rocket 2 stove, so on a very long multi day hike, gas consumption may be a factor. Also gas usage over a prolonged time. Doesn't matter so much to me, but to some it may. I just want to show people all options so they can make an informed choice for themselves.
I agree check then link below this Soto kit is basically exactly the same apart from that ring thing on the bottom which I bet in this particular design is a gimmick! The main reason it was on the other Jetboil stoves is to do with the wind resistance and that in turn helps with the speedy heating. This pot is just a basic pot with that bolted on the bottom with no wind resistance so omitting any major advantage and is just stuck on the pot in my opinion to say 'I have a Jetboil' when it should say you have had your pants down sir for buying. The Soto kit below is a better design for wind cost me 40 quid and is made in Japan. At least the bulky heavy Jetboil models pervious served some purpose for the expense! They locked onto the burner good wind resistance. The flux ring does have a good function, its like the back of a radiator but in reverse, it catches all the heat that would normally go out the side and redirects it back into the pot, but it isn't that wind resistant. If you want proper wind resistance look at the msr windburner
@@wad6216 the flux ring is a really good feature mate it distributes the heat around the pot very efficiently ,creates more surface area for heat to dissipate round ,but with this jetboil stove they have removed some features which are really useful ,and like paul has said in comments section jet boil are missing a trick by aiming for a small section of back packers as a lower price point would see more hikers campers ,wanting to buy it

300$ for a small alumilium pot and a simple stove is a real joke. considering the Chinese are starting to pump out things made of titanium, one of the most complicated metal to process known to man, for very affordable price.
@@jasonphillips8302 bought a 650ml titanium pot, combined with a BRS titanium stove. total cost about 50$ with the legs, lighter, spork... and it all fit inside the pot including the 100g isobutane can.
Yes they are expensive along with MSR gear. Very well made though. I was looking at other UA-cam videos and whilst titanium is light, food does get burnt on it.
Been and collected my first jetboil today off of how highly you speak of them. Decathlon currently have the jetboil zip on sale at 60pound. What a buy its brilliant so thanks soo fast keep the video's coming. Love the channel 😀 we will soon be back out SOON! 🤞
This is amazing! Exactly the video I was looking for. I'm going to a festival this week and will be camping out for about 6 days. I always wanted something like this, and managed to get mine on sale at MEC. I like that you showed how everything worked and even cooked some eggs on the burner. I will definitely be bringing my little pan out with me. Thanks for posting!
I have this stove and agree with all your comments. If you are looking to do more than just boiler water or rehydrate food then Jetboil sell the pot support (about £19.00 Sterling in the UK so probably a similar figure in dollars in the US). It allows you to cook proper meals with any saucepan or pot. The only issue is there is very little adjustement range in the flame power when turning the valve so can be difficult to make minor adjustments to the level of heat. The Jetboil Minimo does have the proper regulator built-into the valve which makes fine adjustments easier. Also, I love the coffee press you can get for the Flash to make propoer coffee
I’ve just this morning bought this. I’m often away for a week or two at a time and gas consumption is important. It took me three years of not buying it due to the price, but I’ve given in at last and the price has come down a bit too 👍🏻
Just bought one. Been JetBoil user for about 10 years. Have owned and tried (in the field) tons of everything else, PocketRocket, MSRs, Asian UL stuff, and some renditions of my homemade de-alco stoves... IMO, the Stash rocks! I know people will find some faults with it. But if you're after weight-saving, the junk import stuff will suck twice the fuel. Better carry an extra canister if you're out maybe 4+ days - depending. Oh, I always leave those cute little orange footies at home. Saves about 1 oz.
I've had a jet boil for years as its fits perfectly into a utility pouch on my webbing. Always carry another source of ignition though as if the piezo thing fails you are stuffed. Even an empty disposable lighter will do the job.
Thank you for your video. We just got one of these on sale today, and have never used any sort of a camp stove before, so this was very helpful for me to know what to do, and how to be safe with it.
it is finally small enough for those who want a compact Jetboil product (motorcyclists, military folk etc ). For me i find these types of stove bit top-heavy and exposed to wind too easily. Ive always gone back to an MSR windpro stove with my MSR Titan kettle and foil windshield it comes with,. A mini bic and its unbeatable.
Looks pretty interesting this. My issue with jetboil has always been the bulk and weight. Most impressive thing about this video though is how you got those eggs into that mini nalgene without popping the yolks! I reckon that deserves a video all of its own!
Nice clear review, well thought through. Your stuff is just so watchable. It's a quick and informative way to keep up with what's available out there and a welcome change from being locked down into a homeschool.
Just grabbed one. Ticks all the boxes for me as really I only eat instant stuff (Huel hot & savoury or firepot) when I'm on a decent trek. You can also grab one of Jetboils Cafetiere style coffee press add-ons for it and hey presto, you also have a decent coffee maker too :)

I knew when I'd watched the live reveal on Facebook that you'd then publish a video Paul. Great information, thanks. Looks a very neat kit. I wonder how that burner would compete with a Soto Stove Windmaster. Tip from the live reveal, I think a mini BIC will fit under the gas can when you clip it into the lid
Whooo hooo! I love the way this packs away and the weight is brilliant. It's about time Jetboil joined the UL brigade! Fab video Paul. I bet you were super excited to receive this in the post. Happy Hiking 🥾- Julia
Just one more thing I've seen elsewhere. You can fit a mini Bic lighter between the top and the concave bottom of the fuel canister when you pack it up. Love the egg hack!
A nice honest review as always Paul. No agenda, just a nice explanation of the product. I think I’ll go for something cheap and cheerful for my wild camping debut and spend more later if I enjoy it
having used this set extensively, i now value its compact and hassle free nature, and they seem very well adjusted to each other. Since this means the stove itself has a low output, it also matches well with a skillet since it isn't overly powerful. So it's convenient and doesnt get in the way. I really like it. It's the stove i usually bring with me unless i really feel i have different needs. If i know i'll be sauteing and frying food, i bring the windmaster. for anything else, stash. Then again if you're really serious about being a foodie i'd suggest bringing the windmaster with navigator set and the gerber complEAT.
Neat and practical - I like. I also like that little MSR set up you compared it with, and which I've been fighting NOT to buy for months. Doh! Now I have to fight the urge to buy the little Jetboil here too! Thanks for sharing, lovely little stove :)
Just been using the BRS-3000T It simmers to almost nothing for long time cooking I use a titanium foil windscreen to protect the flame Reliablity, Darwin and Dixie used this stove for this long distance hikes for months at a time
Nice, thorough overview. From the Jetboil product perspective, this makes a lot of sense. For actual ultralighters who fuss over grams and multi-functionality, it’s about twice as expensive and 50 grams heavier than a Soto Amicus and Toaks 750ml Lite pot.
Yep. True. I think it really depends on the person and usage of the kit. I did part of the AT in the US ( Appalachian trail) and I hated not knowing when I was going to run out of fuel. I had a really good but cheap burner that I later found out I was burning about 10-12 grams per boil.. I sure didnt want to carry extra anything up those hills. Always had to have 2 little cans or one larger size. That’s why I bought the stash. I bought it a week ago and did the whole weight of gas used per boil (4-5 grams btw). So I get 20 boils per 100 gram canister give or take. That’s about 4+ days per small container of butane. Just curious how many grams fuel the amicus burns per boil?
Great video Paul. Eggs come from a bottle who'd have known that. Looks like a nifty wee stove system but the ignition and lack of lip around burner let it down. Also they should have provided a windshield for the system given the price. Still favour the trangia though.
Jetboil have probably held back on the final version. Like apple they will release it in stages, one upgrade at a time to keep sales comming in. It seems the norm with most products these days.
@@lincolndave1966able And this is why I love German and Swiss products.. Great review! Love the egg idea. Ive always left my stove alone until after ive eaten. Apparently i can pack it up while i wait for my supper to hydrate. 'Course i have noticed you carry an extensive first aid kit... 😃
Good review of the stove's features. Just picked up one. Impressed by how much lighter it is than a comparable competitor's model I've been using. The only thing else I'd like to see come with it is a small bag to hold it that doubles as a "kitchen sink." Got to say it's a world's difference from the Svea 123 mated with a Sigg tourist pot set I started out with in '75.
I have the Minimo Paul and even though the Stash is a ridiculous 200gms it doesn't really look as complete a package as its bigger brother. You make the point well that its probably aimed more at the ultralight weight conscious backpacker
I'm generally not a fan of gas systems, I've always preferred my little wood burner. For times where the wood stove is inconvenient though, I'm honestly quite impressed with the Stash. Looks like a worthwhile buy, cheers mate!
Trangia 28 is good as that and include frypan. With gas it`s fast too. That handle insulator and plastic lid is weak point in flames if burner is bigger.
Absolute brilliant review Paul. All the information required really in-depth 😊👍🏻. I’ve just bought a ospray synco 20 bike pack. This stove will be brilliant for long day cycling. Very compact. One slight criticism. I would have liked jet boil to supply the stove with a cloth carry bag just for some protection. And to fit in a couple of folding mugs. Can’t wait to buy one. Thanks again Paul really great review 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I bought the micromo last year, very happy with that. Seems to be in the middleground of minimo and this one. Huge bonus for the coffe press addon that weighs next to nothing.
I like the idea that the gas fits inside, which was one thing I didn’t like about the Minimo....... but, the Minimo offers a bit more versatility than the Flash for proper cooking, so this new design is a winner in my eyes. Great bit of kit and great video as well Paul 👍
jetboil have put some nice little touches to this model paul.if I am being very picky they could have added a silicone lip shield for the pot then it becomes near perfect as a total one pot cook system & extra large mug 😂👍
Much lighter set ups can be bought for a fraction of the cost, with pietzo ignition, plus this as you say Paul needs hiding from the wind. Great to see new gear coming through though.
Love my jetboil Flash and love my fluxring 1L pot for car carmping. I wish they'd just make/sell a 600ml or 800ml fluxring separately like the one with this Stash.. Then could use with any other small lightweight burner. This system looks awesome but its so pricey... The world of ultralight is a goldmine for these companies!
It looks like a nice little kit, biggest selling point for me with the pot is the nice feature where the canister clips into the lid. I couldn't see if there's a "nub" on the lid for lifting it off the pot ? I think i would buy the pot on its own and pair it with my PR2. All in all it looks like a nice kit...
Think I will stick to my jetboil flash. This system seems like they have took two steps back in my opinion. Keep up the good work paul always like what your videos have to offer 👍
I have 2 Jetboils. 1 has ignition and the other does not. I believe one is the Flash with the larger pot. They are both good, but I have just purchased the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe because I want to do backpacking camping and it's very small.
A brilliant review Paul..... Its a nice compact lightweight stove but I just don't know.. To save 200 grams approx against a minimo I'd take the extra 200 grams of the minimo camping and probably think nothing of it I don't think it's saving much more space ... But your eggs looked Amazing all the best Paul cheers marra 👍🏕️
I think Jetboil are targeting new customers rather than existing stove owner Gary. It's a lot of money for a small weight saving if you already have a decent stove
I like the look of that stove. What was the size of Nalgene bottle you had for the eggs? It was definitely a lot neater that the one I used last weekend!
I really like they have made it more compact and sturdy pot stand, same goes for the packing, really nifty. Don't really care about the extra weight, but I do think the lack of wind resistance is a design flaw. At that price (!), one should expect more. And a piezo! Next time, they should send you a prototype for commeting :)
My brs setup is under 16oz/1lbs and 1/3rd the size for the same capacity. And that's with a fuel canister and stove and lighter and spoon included in the weight.
I've got to be honest Paul, I'm really not feeling the love for it. It's going to take something truly groundbreaking to make me switch from my favoured trangia products. In my view this is just another one trick pony speed boiler in an already crowded market.
If you have a trangia, I reckon you'll always love the trangia. This new thing is light and small, efficient but hard to love. What is it about trangias? 😍
I agree. Love trangia, and generally not keen on gas as its noisy and I can wait a little longer for a brew. Also the Stash looks like an over priced pocket rocket. If you really want a jetboil, this is not the one to buy, looks pretty crap to me
Looks interesting and good to see jetfoil on the cycle of continual improvement for their cooksets. However I doubt that this will replace my mini trangia - for me the time to boil is a time for reflection so the quieter the better in my opinion.
i don't deny the technology's really good but there are cook sets on the market for 22/24 GBP props take twice as long to boil while your admiring the scenery, but they do the job . Jet boil are probs better in the bleak mid winter i imagine but a luxury i cant afford, excellent demo though thank you for sharing
I know this video is now a year old but i’ve only just seen it. I really like the look of this stove, do you know if it comes with a gas canister, and does it take other brands of gas canister ? Love your review videos, you look at stuff in so much more detail than others which is great👍👍

Just buy a toaks pot and a BRS3000T and go buy something else with all the money and weight you'll save.
Great review! Love the egg idea. Ive always left my stove alone until after ive eaten. Apparently i can pack it up while i wait for my supper to hydrate. 'Course i have noticed you carry an extensive first aid kit... 😃
Wow that gas canister clip feature in the lid is just sinister!!!!
Always love a stove video from Paul. Great practical review, thanks.
Exelent idea to keep eggs safe in your pack
A good no nonsense video 👍
Trangia 28 is good as that and include frypan. With gas it`s fast too. That handle insulator and plastic lid is weak point in flames if burner is bigger.
Good piece of kit mate
Always thought one of the best features from the other version was the pot clipping onto the stove. Number of times that has saved a reboil for me....
Agree with that. Nobody wants to play camp stove jenga in a force 8!
Looks way better! I love the peaks
Waheyy! Excellent-looking stove 👍🏻
Sensational ... very light. (Paul, thank you very much for the tip on how to transport the eggs hahaha)😃😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥚🍳🍽️😉🇬🇧🇧🇷
It seems to me that the lid could also be used as a canister base, so you don't need the orange canister support
A pal of mine is off to REI tomorrow to put them on order them bring them home when he’s finished his course! Already has a Ti Nano in his bag!
jetboil have put some nice little touches to this model paul.if I am being very picky they could have added a silicone lip shield for the pot then it becomes near perfect as a total one pot cook system & extra large mug 😂👍
This looks amazing Paul... Nice one 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the video Paul, stoves are fast becoming like old mobile phones lol! Different sizes for all occasions. All the best, Ceri and Kat ❤☕👍
I have 2 Jetboils. 1 has ignition and the other does not. I believe one is the Flash with the larger pot. They are both good, but I have just purchased the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe because I want to do backpacking camping and it's very small.
Definitely getting one of those for my lightweight gear. Nice!
that looks a neat solution
A brilliant review Paul..... Its a nice compact lightweight stove but I just don't know.. To save 200 grams approx against a minimo I'd take the extra 200 grams of the minimo camping and probably think nothing of it I don't think it's saving much more space ... But your eggs looked Amazing all the best Paul cheers marra 👍🏕️
I think Jetboil are targeting new customers rather than existing stove owner Gary. It's a lot of money for a small weight saving if you already have a decent stove
@@PaulMessner yeah it's still a quality stove Paul always are with jetboil all the best marra take care 👍🏕️
I like the look of that stove.
What was the size of Nalgene bottle you had for the eggs?
It was definitely a lot neater that the one I used last weekend!
Nice video Paul and great review.
I like this everyday video schedule.
If you really want a jetboil, this is not the one to buy, looks pretty crap to me
i will agree with you sir if your camping whats the rush ?
Looks interesting and good to see jetfoil on the cycle of continual improvement for their cooksets.
However I doubt that this will replace my mini trangia - for me the time to boil is a time for reflection so the quieter the better in my opinion.
Looks a good bit of kit. Price is a bit steep so I will stick with my Bleuet for now.
i don't deny the technology's really good but there are cook sets on the market for 22/24 GBP props take twice as long to boil while your admiring the scenery, but they do the job . Jet boil are probs better in the bleak mid winter i imagine but a luxury i cant afford, excellent demo though thank you for sharing
Fab vid Paul that looks fab 👍
Thank you for the review!
Paul
Thankyou for the info on the Stash
Since you tried this which one do you prefer the Flash or Stash. Keep the vids coming please
I know this video is now a year old but i’ve only just seen it. I really like the look of this stove, do you know if it comes with a gas canister, and does it take other brands of gas canister ?
Love your review videos, you look at stuff in so much more detail than others which is great👍👍
