Look what he's already done this early on in life. Phenomenal head on his shoulders, adventuresome, determined, fun loving, tough, non superficial (it seems), reads, healthy, speaks well....and that little worldly space of his there, one day, will be worth a butt load. I’ve been living this way for 20 years. I love this life also. Surrounded by trees. My home is 20’x20’. Scything is my favorite way to cut grass. We use all of our grass for the garden and chicken pens. It keeps you so healthy. I’m 58 and still loving it. You never stop learning when you live this way. It is so rewarding. Great to see young people enjoying this way of life. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. The more you learn the easier it gets to learn new skills .

This is who they used to call "a self made man". This guy is just so comfortable in his own life. I admire his self education and acceptance of living within his means.
Young men like this need not be as rare as they are today. Impressive. And notice how he didn’t wait to get started until he turned 18. That’s the key. He started young to learn the skills needed and took the initiative to build his own space and maintain it. Fantastic.
Man was in a fortunate situation, some people wait till there 18 because of limitation cause by their environment and parents. Anyways he very smart and he did take initiative to do what he wanted. Man earns my respect for sure.

Of all the tiny homes I've seen, this young man's build is my favorite. It's rustic, carefully thought out, and he speaks of his "vision." The Bible speaks of failure, and it further talks about the importance of having a VISION! This young guy has got it! Thanks so much for sharing, and you've inspired me to keep my own thoughts of originality without succumbing to the world's view of maintaining a home. I absolutely loved this video!!!!! :)

I have been looking at tiny houses on youtube for a week now and this is the most beautiful one I've seen! Most are built using conventional methods and conventional materials, stick frame, fiberglass insulation, plumbing (I just love the simplicity of the 5-gallon method)... the fact that yours is handcrafted from mostly recycled materials makes it much richer, more endearing. I love how it fits into your permaculture lifestyle. Something many 'tiny house people' need to realize is that your home, though very important, is only one aspect of your needs and what you ask of the world. You have the garden and the wood-burning technology to back it up. Anyway I love what you're doing and I feel incredibly inspired by you! Maybe we can get another video when the rocket mass heater is completed...
I lived in Maine till about 4 years ago and I really miss this kind of spirit which many people have (figuring out how to create things without getting wrapped up in consumer culture) and I really miss the landscape. This place reminds me of an off grid house my then-boyfriend built near Skowhegan many years ago. I still think about the carpet of stars at night and the cold (which I miss, go figure). I hope to move back to northern New England.
This is the first tiny house I've ever seen that actually looks realistic and isn't empty and immaculate. There's actually stuff in there! Hey Jesse, I live in Maine too. I think tiny houses are awesome but I have 3 kids so the closest I'll ever get to having a tiny house might be a camper.... lol Maybe when I retire :)
This guy is amazing, I like his outlook in life. Someday I want to live like this, a self sufficient and off-grid tiny house. I want a simple life, grow my own foods, not worrying about bills, the goal is to live a happy life with minimal expenses.
What I like is that he has to take a short walk from his car to his home. Too many of us arrive, take a few steps and we’re inside. Never taking the time to just unwind with a short walk, letting the daily stresses melt off before coming in with overcrowded thoughts of whatever is going on that day. It like a short brisk transition from the big world to your safe haven. Mad props to this guy I hope I have the balls some day.
What a simplistic way of living he has. It's all about quality over quantity. You can have a lot of useless stuff in quantity or you can have a few small things of quality. It's much more worthwhile.

He inspired me on a non build, more of a marketing project I'm working on- when he said, "Don't be afraid to move forward, even if you don't know what you're doing." I may have to watch this again and again, because it makes me feel good on so many levels. Apparently over five and a half million viewers agree with me!
Jesse! So amazing to see this today, here in India and feel so happy that you are living true to your vision. You are such an amazing and humble human. Feel very blessed to know you in this lifetime.

What an amazing young man. Good for you and thank you for the inspiration, your words about just trying things applies to all areas of life. Leaving this video with a fuller warmer heart than I arrived at it with.
Maine is in the top 3 safest states in the US. I'm not saying that we have no crime, but people don't lock things here, especially if you live in a rural area.
This is the story that really makes sense. He is so smart and down to earth. After a long day at work, he gets to walk through the woods to get home and in the process leaves the stress behind. Magic🥰
I wish your enthusiasm, motivation, work ethics and personality plus could be cloned to other teens. What you have accomplished is amazing and what you have learned during the process without doubt will follow you for years to come. Congratulations on your 'tiny house'...!

Dalton Brown but even you said he “built” it. The title is misleading because it leads you to believe that they’re showing a house that a current teenager is building. What we got was a grown man who built a house as a teenager and has been adding to it. The title is misleading

Why didn't you make the one window near the bed open up? You could hook a fan up near the window across from you bring in air and another fan in the window near the bed drag warm air out and than have a tiny fan you can clamp onto something blow air right on you and it will cool down nicely.get three fans one extra small one on you and most powerful one to bring air in and get a smaller one but bigger than the one blowing on you in the window near your bed to drag air out. That will make a huge difference and fans don't use much energy.
This is so cool!!! I like the fact that you say it is made by hand, and isn't perfect because it's not industrially produced. I think people feel that their house almost has to come out of a proverbial "box". I think that this is awesome!
This is fantastic. If I had to guess his background, my guess would be that he was homeschooled by parents who allowed him to try things and encouraged him to experiment. I love that he loves his simply life! I only wish more kids would do stuff like this, but alas, our public school system doesn't encourage experimentation or creativity enough.
Very impressed and kinda of jealous I'll admit. Been dreaming about the life you're living how you're doing it and where for a long time. You're exactly right I'm sick of dreaming im setting some goals to get me where I want to be. I know for a fact I'd be happier than I've been in years. Thanks for your video you're impressive
"No matter how big your backpack, you are always going to fill it up". True words. I applaud you and your philosophy on life and your wonderful home. Need someone to share it with...get you through those cold Maine winters. All the best.
Am I the only one wondering if this guy actually exists? He builds his own little house, cares about the environment AND enjoys a little work?? What a guy! Honestly, he deserves to have a cozy life surrounded by loved ones who appreciate what he has accomplished. I hope for nothing but the best for him and his family. :)

You have a great home. How did you learn all of this at such a young age? One of the comments said it looked claustrophobic, I feel it looks like a person who has a life and lives his life. Great video.
God bless you, You not only have your little private tiny house but your working and cutting grass. Not a lot of teens do all that. They just want there parents to do the work pay there bills and so on. Like I said not all, you can find a few of them that do work. God bless you keep up the good work keep safe and take care of yourself.
SAD BOY Thought about it, i would have to murder the owner of the property and seize his house, before i get locked up in a prison for homicide. Not worth it dude.
I'm guessing he's not a teenager anymore. But what struck me is how well this kid speaks. Good sense of how to articulate your thoughts and very efficient at using the spoken word. Good for him.
so jellous of your cabin in the woods. wish I could live off grid with my son & 4 legged fur babies. just want to get away from the 6 days a week 14 hours a day work week and the stress of the rat race and just decompress!!!
"Build me something cool" "How about a piece of board right here? a "cat walk" per say" LOLOL. Dude just threw a board down. Great friend. Better carpenter.
A lot of times when I see things like this, even when going back in watching my own videos, I feel that people are sacrificing. He isn’t. This is truly the life that he chose. I am happy for him and wish him nothing but the best.
Thats awesome dude I made myself a tiny shelter on someone's property they wanted someone to stay on their acerage to look after their cattle so i picked up few pallets and freebies I used 2 dining tables and put one upside down on each others legs and made walls using pallet wood and that was my bedroom i used some removalists blankets to make a mattress Used clay to make some pots and stove and bbq etc Toilet was outdoors and i dug out a dam to collect rainwater Used solar ligthts to light up my sweet home few free batteries with a truck's alternator and attached a self made gearbox with a bicycle to get high rpm so i could charge those batteries as backup for my fridge and tv as solar panels were not freebies I did Few chickens and ducks for free for eggs and cattle was there for milk I used cow dung and worms and grass clippings to make a rich garden soil and grew my own veggies and fruits So pretty much at almost zero cost i lived happy and healthy life for almost 2 years until the landlord sold the property
Jesse, you made me cry mentioning the raindrop. So many people go through life never appreciating what is around them, nature, raindrops, living for your soul. Keep living for your soul and you will never go wrong!
Mine, too. I did for much of my life. But there are too many bitey, stingy things where I moved to in the south. I do miss being able to walk barefoot in the grass.
This is my kind of man! Handsome and a lover of nature and using his hands. This is exactly what I'm planning to do for myself. And I really love that he made his own scythe and uses it instead of a lawn mower. I love how he enjoys that type of living.
"Dude I respect your skills as a carpenter, just make me anything."

That will make a huge difference and fans don't use much energy.
wrong off the grid meant that you were off the city systems like sewage water electricity
beautiful house. massive respect for you and the way you live your life
This guy is great! Not to mention adorable and sweet. I wish him all the best in life! He truly deserves it.🌳🌳🍀🍀🌻
What an interesting, humble, wonderful guy.
This guy is going to get far. With his passion and skills, nothing's going to stop him. I love his spirit and hard work too reach his goals.
Holy crap so that's what a scythe is for.
Did you really not know this?
@@nolancorrado2317 why shame someone for not knowing something? costs $0.00 to not be a jerk
@@dgnas it wasn't meant to shame them. I was actually surprised that people didn't know this
🤦
What did you think it was for?Reaping Souls?
Awwww.. "I appreciate that raindrop."
What a sweetheart.
Grim reaper sayin `dude got scythe skills` : )
ikr
Very impressed and kinda of jealous I'll admit. Been dreaming about the life you're living how you're doing it and where for a long time. You're exactly right I'm sick of dreaming im setting some goals to get me where I want to be. I know for a fact I'd be happier than I've been in years. Thanks for your video you're impressive
I dreamed of this for decades, and finally I'm here and loving it. You'll get there, much sooner than I did, though I was getting closer and closer.
"No matter how big your backpack, you are always going to fill it up".
True words.
I applaud you and your philosophy on life and your wonderful home.
Need someone to share it with...get you through those cold Maine winters.
All the best.
Should use the scythe to cut that soul patch off.
blackopssavage hahaaa
blackopssavage true to your name sir

1:56 that toilet roll near the desktop tells a different story
Miguel Leysner you observant piece of shit.
Look at your profile picture
Miguel Leysner it was a compliment, but oookay. Lmao.
mine to Lmao
Miguel Leysner I was thinking the same thing
Am I the only one wondering if this guy actually exists? He builds his own little house, cares about the environment AND enjoys a little work?? What a guy! Honestly, he deserves to have a cozy life surrounded by loved ones who appreciate what he has accomplished. I hope for nothing but the best for him and his family. :)
this dude ready for the apocalypse.

xDDDDDD Dont blame the dude man... he's got lots of time on his own
That's what I was thinking!! haha
Can Turkleton A lot of time on his hand*
Yeah, 7:20 it seems suspicious :)
he did say 80% tho :D
He seems like a cool person with a good attitude. A humble and wise human.
You have a great home. How did you learn all of this at such a young age? One of the comments said it looked claustrophobic, I feel it looks like a person who has a life and lives his life. Great video.
Mary Marion Awesome response. id rather read books in a beautiful home i built and get knowledged than interact with naive human beings
I'm sometimes tempted to try this lifestyle
God bless you,
You not only have your little private tiny house but your working and cutting grass. Not a lot of teens do all that. They just want there parents to do the work pay there bills and so on. Like I said not all, you can find a few of them that do work.
God bless you keep up the good work keep safe and take care of yourself.
So much soul in what you built. It’s perfect. The whole philosophy of your mind. This city boy is blown away. God bless you.
Maybe a string of white Christmas lights from walk from car to home.
if i could, id totally live there.
Can't you? Think about it :)
SAD BOY Thought about it, i would have to murder the owner of the property and seize his house, before i get locked up in a prison for homicide. Not worth it dude.
***** you are great haha
i think the whole point of the video is that it was build for almost nothing
Eh your name is awesome
This dude is so wholesome
love it!! it's what the meaning of "home sweet home" ...where we can spend our private moments without any judgement
this guy has life figured out
he's peaking way too early...the follow up vid won't be so wonderful
@Harry Browneigh cry u broke ass idiot
Except for the scything with no shoes on
Wow this got negative. He seems happy.
Yeah, until some governor sees it and forces him to pay property taxes or they will sell his house and everything there.
UA-cam decided three years after this video was uploaded that I need to watch it, thanks UA-cam recommend
4 for me 🤣
I got it five years after it posted. I wanna know where they are finding the land at to do this
That's AWESOME!!! You have what you NEED, and PEACE of MIND! Smart young man, Brilliant!💝
You are one smart young man. There should be more of you. Keep it up and inspire others. Smile
Omg he's amazing ,I need someone like this in my life . Well done to you ,you have made a wonderful tiny house.yr mum be very proud of you 💋🌹
What a cool young guy... beautifully done👏👏👏
This is my dream!! Im 12 so i have a couple of years to get started xD
Buddy u got a heart of gold
"Build me something cool" "How about a piece of board right here? a "cat walk" per say" LOLOL. Dude just threw a board down. Great friend. Better carpenter.
A lot of times when I see things like this, even when going back in watching my own videos, I feel that people are sacrificing. He isn’t. This is truly the life that he chose. I am happy for him and wish him nothing but the best.
Thats awesome dude
I made myself a tiny shelter on someone's property they wanted someone to stay on their acerage to look after their cattle so i picked up few pallets and freebies
I used 2 dining tables and put one upside down on each others legs and made walls using pallet wood and that was my bedroom i used some removalists blankets to make a mattress
Used clay to make some pots and stove and bbq etc
Toilet was outdoors and i dug out a dam to collect rainwater
Used solar ligthts to light up my sweet home few free batteries with a truck's alternator and attached a self made gearbox with a bicycle to get high rpm so i could charge those batteries as backup for my fridge and tv as solar panels were not freebies
I did Few chickens and ducks for free for eggs and cattle was there for milk
I used cow dung and worms and grass clippings to make a rich garden soil and grew my own veggies and fruits
So pretty much at almost zero cost i lived happy and healthy life for almost 2 years until the landlord sold the property
Really nice home mate. Beautiful and cosy. Personally, I wouldn't want anything more. Well done! 👍👍
The negative talk is from ppl who are jealous they can't live simple... Haters gonna hate move on & just be you I say AWESOME JOB💪✌😌👍👍
I know right?most others are paying taxes for politicians to piss it against a wall.
Yes you are so right. I love this guy!
Negative talk about other people's negative talk solves nothing Marlene!
@@samclark4962 But, two negatives make a positive.
The world needs more teens like this.
We need to be teens like this
Jesse, you made me cry mentioning the raindrop. So many people go through life never appreciating what is around them, nature, raindrops, living for your soul. Keep living for your soul and you will never go wrong!
I absolutely love this tiny house story- seems so real and down to earth
Helping friends design solar systems!?
This is no teenager!
This is a god!
I love that he's walking around barefoot, that's my kind of lifestyle!!
Wish I can get something like this tiny house here in the UK
Mine, too. I did for much of my life. But there are too many bitey, stingy things where I moved to in the south. I do miss being able to walk barefoot in the grass.
This is awesome. I’m glad to see someone from New England doing tiny house
I admire your confidence. You are amazing.
Deffinitley a young healthy mind & body ..keep the Faith young man .your inspierung lots of older pepole & making them 😂 jealous ✌ from pgh pa.
LOVE his attitude toward learning and trying new things
what a guy, love his outlook on life.
I always have wondered how people cut their lawn with a scythe. Thanks. You are amazing.
Jesse You are a super talented guy who believes in Doing things , working hard and loving it..And creating your own little heaven ..
God Bless
I desire to build a tiny home for me and my dog -love your tiny home.Great job 😊
I am in love with this life style!
This is my kind of man! Handsome and a lover of nature and using his hands. This is exactly what I'm planning to do for myself. And I really love that he made his own scythe and uses it instead of a lawn mower. I love how he enjoys that type of living.
I love this house so much! You can really tell how organic the design process was! Only question is where does he shower???
Im guessing he's on parents property
showers at " home " aka mom's & dad's
@@408SPLKINGS That was my guess, too. It's still super cool, though.
