I upgraded my parts at first it didn’t turn on so yesterday I was thinking ok maybe I should put in my old parts and see if it turns on and it did but I got no display I bought a new hdmi cable and I got no display

Thanks for the help! Turns out my monitor was too old. It still worked with my old computer, so I never would've thought that could be it!
modern tech is a pain sometimes
Great video, I think basic fault finding technique should be taught at school. How many times have I been out to help people and found that no basis fault finding had been carried out and it a simple plugging in of a lead/cable solved the problem. I always use “does it work in the middle” technique, never fails, to find problems. Thanks Mike, more videos like this needed.

first boot was the most nail biting moment, I was so nervous, I could not see any issues after build that would prevent a post, lucky it posted with "cmos error press f1" I was so happy just to see that. Then came the temp monitoring in case the cpu cooler was incorrectly installed. I would hate to have to RMA something. ✌

This is the only video that has helped. Right as I was about to go to a technician to get this fixed (and probably get charged an exorbitant amount money) I stumbled upon this and decided to try it as a last ditch effort. And thank the heavens it works. Thank you so much for this

Good tips Mike. I've had everything happen to me with no signal to a monitor or TV. Like forgetting to plug the power connector into the video card if it has one, bad or worn out cables, Video card not inserted all the way into the Motherboard. Hope these will help others with no video signal out to the display devices that they may have. Take care all. Cheers

When you were talking about the HDMI on the back of the computer I haven't done it yet I will try it tomorrow but so far that's the only thing that I can think of that it must be in this is the only video that gave me this option

It was my case slot. Wow, you would think these manufactures could easily see this. But, not in this "case'. I had to grind down some of the metal in order for the DP plugs to seat properly. My monitors work now. Thanks Mike.

I had this problem, i tried for 2 hours straight but nothing worked. Then i tried to see if it was the monitor and took my hdmi cable and connected it to my tv and THAT WORKED so try this if nothing works for you:)

Hi, Mike. I dealt with this very problem last month. A guy brought their PC to me and it was a case of the bar interfering with the video cable. I actually had to use my Dremel and shave off about a sixteenth of an inch of the bar to get the cable to fit properly.
That also, would be how I would solve it. Or file or bench grinder, whichever did the job best.
it is more and more common these days with multi slot cards and especially on cheaper cases

that is the most common reason for not getting a display and luckily one of the least expensive to fix if not free
I am new to to owning a PC, I've always owned a laptop and when i got my fresh new custom built pc sent to me and i couldn't get a screen on my monitor i freaked out. I saw you go tot he back and put the hdmi into the graphics card and that fixed my issue. Thank you so much for having this video. It really helped me a lot.

That is a really common problem, what gpu was it?
One possible reaolution: your bios may be updating on its own if the computer looks like it is running properly. My computer wasn't booting into the graphics card but my mom accidentally leaned on the power button too long - when the computer booted back up it actually worked fine lol

@@mikesunboxing Resetting motherboard by taking out the battery for five minutes then trying again worked. Still have a dual channel memory issue, I am thinking bent pins are to blame.

My issue was I got a new nvidia 3070 last week, and I installed it with no issue. And then today I put in my old nvidia 2070 again to test it, couldn't get any input from the old one, and I kept trying to reseat it, didn't work. Display also wasn't working on the internal CPU graphics on the motherboard, so I couldn't access the BIOS.
Turns out, it still worked with my new 3070, so I did a fresh install of the correct drivers for my old 2070 and got rid of all the other drivers to make it clean. Then, when I put in the old card it worked properly.
It's such a simple fix for my issue, but I felt dumb because I was exhausted and almost jumped to conclusions. thinking I messed something up and almost flashed my BIOS / thought I had bricked something.
this video made my fucking realise the problem all along was that i had the hdmi plugged into the wrong spot, and not into the graphics cars like an idiot

hi, for some reason i only get NO display once a week or so, kind of weird. and ive noticed when i manually press the on and off buttom on my monitor, i get Display and everything works fine. any tips or solutions to this? this never occurred on my old pc so i dont think is my monitor (just build this last month)

Hey hey hey. Had someone come to me with this exact issue just before I went on me travels. Went through everything I could think of to isolate where the issue was (new cable, monitor, graphics card etc) and me last resort was to update the BIOS on the mobo. That didnt work either but then realised that the GPU had a dual BIOS so swapped it to the "quiet" one and it started working. Flippin' typical ! Got a bottle of Jack Daniels out of it though !

First solution fixed my problem, metal part was portruding too much, HDMi cable would not go all the way

Another gotcha: make sure you're plugged into the 1st HDMI socket (sometimes the primary is the DP socket) I've seen PCs where you don't see the Bios screen, but once the driver loads the screen pops up.

1 more:
Check the ac of the psu, is it 230v or 110v.
Another step is to clear the Bios Chip. look at the Motherboard Manual & read how to do that. Remove & replace the Motherboard Battery or you may need to find the CMOS Jumper & jump it 1st with the Battery in. I've read 2 different ways of clearing the Bios Chip. CNOS is only the internal structure of the Bios Chip. CMOS=Ceramic Metal Oxside Semiconductor

I tried all the methods to what I believe to be the correct directions, even following other video’s directions. I feel like I have tried everything, but ki matter what, my PC monitor won’t connect, saying a message of “No Signal”. The problem occurred after I started “Game Boost” from the BIOS, and then my screen turned black. My PC seems to work just fine and runs at least to my knowledge finely. Can you give me any help?
Reset the cmos settings to defaults, game boost is an overclock setting that sometimes won’t work

can you help me please , ive trying to set up a dual monitor system using optiplex 5050, one screen works fine but second monitor says no hdmi cable? theres only one hdmi port which is working the first monitor and the display cable doesnt seem to be picking up the 2nd monitor, ive put hdmi into 2nd monitor and it works fine so monitor is not the issue, tried 2 different display cables still no joy, driving me insane

Idk if you'll see this but i had the similar problem but after observing none of my usb ports are working either btw its a brand new motherboard the pc was working fine a day ago
The whole back panel including hdmi ports of the gpu and motherboard and the front usb ports arent working
I've tried resetting cmos and even the processor

sounds like a short circuit, take the board out of the case and try it on a test bench
I've just built a new pc and I'm having this issue. Nothings wrong with anything plugged in and the mb shows the LED for boot so I know there's no issues there. But just says no signal on my monitor. My monitor is a fairly new one and so I don't beleive that's the issue either. But I did buy a second hand graphics card so I'm going to remove that or put my old one in to see if that's the problem.

None of this fixed my issue, but after a lot of time i may just have finally fixed it. The issue seems to have been the power supply air filter at the bottom of my case being clogged up with dust and somehow that may have been causing my power supply, that is at the bottom of my case and FAN FACE DOWN and had been intaking air through that dirty filter, to malfunction and cause the signal loss on the monitor. I just rolled over the power supply to fan face up to intake air from inside the case and havent had issues since. ALSO i remove the CMOS shorter from the cmos pins on the motherboard (The cmos shorter is a tiny tiny tool that is used on the cmos pins on the motherboard. Look online for more info)
if the cmos reset pin or tool is on the board it probably won't boot i would think
@@mikesunboxing im pretty sure my motherboard came with the shorter on it, but the shorter had been in a neutral position and was probably never the cause of any issue, i simply discovered the tool as i was tinkering in my computer and i just decided to removed it just in case

Anyone not having luck with these methods. I had to q flash my new motherboard with updated bios. That solved it for me.

Hi! I'm experiencing an issue like this currently, everything is plugged in correctly but no matter if I try the integrated graphics or my GPU there's no signal. I have an AM5 mobo so flashing bios shouldn't be necessary but I've tried different cables and the monitor works fine when plugged into my laptop. Any advice?
what are the motherboards diagnostic leds saying?
@@mikesunboxing Boot glows green and everything else is off. Right upon startup CPU flashes red but that's all connected properly and working since it's heating up.

Why don't I get a display until the sign in screen? It was working until I got my new SSD but now even when unplugging that I still get the same problem I cant go into the bios(It probably does because it does not fully boot when I press the bios button but I cannot see anything since there is no display) so it does switch on just i cannot use or do anything until the sign in screen
that is very common with multi monitors or when there is a issue with the UEFI on one of the devices

I have the 7800x3d CPU on my brand new build. I have not received my GPU but wanted to do a first boot with just the integrated graphics. My display doesn't seem to work with the HDMI connected to he mobo. Is this normal with a first boot? I have heard people need a GPU to enable the integrated graphics in the BIOS, but I read that AMD has integrated graphics as default.
it should automatically enable itself if there is now GPU detected unless the BIOS has been specifically changed to ignore it
I’m getting no video from either onboard graphics or the graphics card. This is after resetting cmoss and changing power supply. I think the first power supply has fried my motherboard.

So I upgraded my GPU and power supply, Rx 6700, 800watt Corsair and it boots and I get a display, however it's just showing a black screen and a white line like I can type and input text but I can't get into bios or type text

Did I already told you that I spent some time trying to have my monitor to actually show something when it was simply physically turned off? Never mind..
If you dont se the light on your screen, check the little light on the bezel....

How do you make monitor power button turn on when basic connection is in place after power outage?
@@sherryhesner5940 There is a power button on the bottom of the monitor. It's usually on the lower bottom right. If you press it.... Blue LED = Power on with a video signal from the computer. Yellow LED = Standby Mode, no signal from the computer. Will turn blue when it gets a video signal from the computer when it's turned on. Hope that helps.
What about no display with onboard graphics ?
Hdmi lead is new and works
Screen works using that hdmi on other devices.
My issue was that the cpu didn't support onboard graphics, you had to buy a graphics card to unlock the graphics function.
I sent back CPU and got one that did. Wasn't aware they do this nowadays.
with my new build I've tried a lot of things to get mines to post but i get nothing, I've changed graphics cards, ram, hard drives, one stick of ram, cmos bios resets, new cmos batteries, no cmos battery nothings getting it to post everything's new on the motherboard the orange light points to DRAM I've bought new ram as well still points to DRAM any help or suggestions will be appreciated I've eliminated the graphics card and just tried on board graphics and still nothing

Ah man I'm going through this nightmare right now and I'm a Techy guy as well! Feel bad as it's a mates PC that am trying to fix! It started with a broken Pump on the AIO, then thought I'd clean the CPU but carefully removed this then to my nightmare the previous person who built this bent loads of pins so took me around 1 to 2 hrs to bend them straight... Replaced AIO with a new cooler and checked everything else and all is well! Switched it on and all looks well but no post? So tried on-board graphics and that doesn't even work? Swapped Ram, no change, removed CMOS and reset jumper still no post? Power going to USB and GPU lights are on but no one is home !!! Am completely lost at this point!
does the motherboard have any diagnostic leds? if not get a bios beep speaker, that could point you in the right direction

" i hope " his MB is Asus Prime H270 plus not the best of boards if im honest.. what i might do is strip the whole bulid down and do it the way i've mine and others as that way i'd know where i am at! just hard with work, Uni, and kids lol.. am currently sat right in front of it thinking oh boy what have i gotten myself into hahaha..

Hi, i have a bit o a weird problem, my desktop when connected to my tv via an HDMI-DP cable works fine, but when connected to my acer monitor with the same cable it doesn't display, but when I connect the monitor to my hp laptop it works fine, all this is done with the same cable, another thing is when I launch a system reset it displays the process but after its done nothing again, any suggestions
Some hdmi to dp cables act weirdly try another cable or maybe the monitor just doesn’t support the conversion

I actually had this problem a few weeks ago and although i got it solved the real reason for not getting a display signal suggests to me that it's a compatibilty issue which has to be solved via software since the hardware doesn't show any proof of defect.
So i would say that the 'big companies' have a job to do there !
Hi! I woke up today and my pc is working but it doesn’t show anything. I switched to display port and I see my screen.. so my hdmi ports don’t work but display port does work. Also my motherboard has an orange light, Aorus motherboard.. what do I need to do ;(

I have a problem where my pc would boot into windows and as I hit any key to type my password, I lose display and eventually I get code 97 on my motherboard. If I do manage to boot into my desktop, everything works fine till my display turns off and pc stays at AA (all good) until minutes later it shows code 97 again. I've reseated my gpu and reconnected cables over and over again and reset cmos several times. Any help?

I've tried everything, feels like. Plugged the display port cable into the monitor and GPU, everything turns on, but I can't get a display on the monitor (I've got an MSI Optix G274QRFW). It just displays HDMI 2 no signal, and my working theory is that all I've gotta do is change the input, but I've tried everything and I can't figure it out

I thought my gpu rx 5700xt and 5500xt are broken pc boots up and heard the windows startup sound and no display i figured the dp and hdmi ports are faulty or dusty so i cleaned it and maybe testing the gpu to my other pc.seeof it fix the issue.

i have almost same problem but its not new parts only i put thermal paste and clean the pc box after that i put all parts and turn on the pc but the display didnt work show me only black screen
i try with ram and also remove the batery and put again but still the same problem idk what to do i try everything but doesnt work

Hi, i have build my comuter or the first time with my son. Now i cant get out a signal trough the HDMI from the mother board Z790 Elite AX ICE but we got a signal from the installed graphics card. When i look in the device manager i can only see NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, nothing else. I have installed drivers.
check the HDMI is going all the way in the GPU

Been trying to figure it out for the past 2 days I have no display on my screen my monitor turns on then swaps thru hdmi and display port but comes up black how do I fix this I reset cmos and also I reset everything. Everything seems to be on right but no display any help with this ?

my pc show no display when connected to hdmi but works ok when connected to integrated graphics ...however I can see my graphics card and I can use it on apps I just have to choose my gpu on the apps graphics settings ...what could probably be wrong?

The PSU works and the fans spins, The MB fans spins and LED on, The Graphic Card fans spins also there is no "BEEP" sounds during opening the pc, No noisy comes from the PSU or anything, the HDMI cable Works with my laptop and TV, Also working with VGA cable, I reset the BIOs with cmos battery as you mentioned in the other video, but still no monitor or display is working, I asked A repairer and they said the problems is in the MB but I also tried with many videos tutorials to know is MB works or not and its pretty fine, So , I really hope if you can help me in this eternal problem... @@mohityourunofficialneighbour i got it working. I formatted my SSD and reset the CMOS by jumping the pins with a screwdriver. And then put my SSD with fresh install of windows

So my issue is that ive recently upgraded my psu to a 1000w and a new gpu everything lights up turns on no issues but no display through my gpu so i removed it and teied running through my motherboard msi tomahawk b550 again no display and vga light is lit up on the motherboard 😢
