It was the monitor. Switched to the tv and it worked. Thank you so much I was scrambling for days and watched this before going to a repair shop. Saved me almost wasted money. 🐐🐐🐐🐐
I had this problem, i tried for 2 hours straight but nothing worked. Then i tried to see if it was the monitor and took my hdmi cable and connected it to my tv and THAT WORKED so try this if nothing works for you:)

One possible resolution: your bios or something else may have been updating on its own if the computer looks like it is running properly, but the update might have just stalled or glitched. My new computer build wasn't booting into the graphics card, but my mom accidentally leaned on the power button too long, and when the computer booted back up it actually worked fine lol
Good tips video for people trying to troubleshoot their new PC not booting, nothing more frustrating then not getting your new PC to boot up, thanks Mike!
OMG! It actually worked! I was upgrading my old GPU then got this "no display output" issue, though it POSTed and the motherboard LED's were good. I've tried everything I could think of with no luck. I've been troubleshooting for 2 days and was out of my wits. I've considered returning the new GPU. I can't believe I've missed something this simple and trivial. You were right. The metal bar was preventing the HDMI/DP cable from plugging in fully flush into the GPU card. Simply loosening the retaining screws and nudging the card gently so that the cable's connector could sit in fully flush. Tightened the screws again and turn it on, and voila! You can't believe how happy I was to see the BIOS splash screen and the Windows logo again. You're a lifesaver! Thank you very much!
Great video, I think basic fault finding technique should be taught at school. How many times have I been out to help people and found that no basis fault finding had been carried out and it a simple plugging in of a lead/cable solved the problem. I always use “does it work in the middle” technique, never fails, to find problems. Thanks Mike, more videos like this needed.
I have a feeling this will be the issue for me. My monitors are from 2014. I'll try the TV option, and if it works, then that's the issue. Gonna have to save up for a new monitor, though. 😅
first boot was the most nail biting moment, I was so nervous, I could not see any issues after build that would prevent a post, lucky it posted with "cmos error press f1" I was so happy just to see that. Then came the temp monitoring in case the cpu cooler was incorrectly installed. I would hate to have to RMA something. ✌
Hi Mike, I have recently started to watch a lot of your videos , you are doing a great job, What I like about them is that you cover the most important and basic parts of hardware troubleshooting instead of just covering unaffordable expensive techs that most people don't use . Name any problem and I found you might have a video about it already.
Great video Mike; I sent this to a War Thunder buddy in Finland to review after he was having a problem with no video output on an AMD CPU upgrade (no integrated graphics) and this video solved his issue. Thanks again.
Good tips Mike. I've had everything happen to me with no signal to a monitor or TV. Like forgetting to plug the power connector into the video card if it has one, bad or worn out cables, Video card not inserted all the way into the Motherboard. Hope these will help others with no video signal out to the display devices that they may have. Take care all. Cheers
Probably a different issue then everyone else but I installed new fans could not figure out why my pc wouldn’t go past the boot light but turns out you need to route your cables to your hard drive before your fan header if they are inline
Hi, Mike. I dealt with this very problem last month. A guy brought their PC to me and it was a case of the bar interfering with the video cable. I actually had to use my Dremel and shave off about a sixteenth of an inch of the bar to get the cable to fit properly.
Thank you so much!!! For me it was the DRAM issue, the motherboard didn't make any sounds to figure out the problem but I noticed a row of 4 lights with the text: BOOT, VGA, DRAM, ETC, and when turned on the DRAM light was lit up a bright red. I unplugged all RAMs and put back only one in the first socket (was using the 2nd and 4th) and that fixed it!
hi, for some reason i only get NO display once a week or so, kind of weird. and ive noticed when i manually press the on and off buttom on my monitor, i get Display and everything works fine. any tips or solutions to this? this never occurred on my old pc so i dont think is my monitor (just build this last month)

I upgraded my parts at first it didn’t turn on so yesterday I was thinking ok maybe I should put in my old parts and see if it turns on and it did but I got no display I bought a new hdmi cable and I got no display
For me it was the RAM had to go back to 16GB when I wanted the upgrade to be 32GB. The RAM light kept displaying and nothing was displaying on the monitors. Got the two 8GB sticks from my old build which solved the issue and the two 16GB sticks was from a friend and it works in his PC. Is it possible my Motherboard isn't compatible with those sticks?

Installed a new RTX 4060TI on my PC, plugged everything back in but the monitor wouldn’t get a signal. I was several different layers of worried about what I mighta messed up or worse, broken. Then I watched this video and tried letting the GPU sag just a little. HDMI fully connected and now it’s working like a beauty, sometimes reminding people of the simple fixes is all that’s needed. Cheers!
I had the exact scenario you described. System powered on, no display, only error LED was the boot. Which makes sense since it is a new build. Monitor is a brand new Samsung. I play on it with this HDMI cable with my ASUS laptop. I swapped the HDMI cable to the MoBo hdmi slot. No luck. I removed the graphics card. Booted up with hdmi connected to MoBo. It posted and I got screen. What would you recommend next? Should I still try TV? I can swap HDMI cables but it works with my 2023 laptop on my 2023 monitor. Also it is a double height card so HDMI interference is not likely.

I gave this issue at the moment. Not a monitor issue, however. After some experimentation, if I remove a ram stick the pc will load up. But if I power down and reboot, still a black screen. Again you have to remove (or remove and reseat) the ram before it will show a display. Any ideas on this? The last time I removed a ram stick I kept it out of the system. Rebooted without the stick and still a black screen. Everything powers on, fans work. Everything lights up but no display unless I reseat my ram every time.

Hey great vid I’m having a strange problem connect my pc to a tv motherboard logo comes up I can get into the bios but when it comes time for windows to load the tv says no signal when I restart same thing
None of this fixed my issue, but after a lot of time i may just have finally fixed it. The issue seems to have been the power supply air filter at the bottom of my case being clogged up with dust and somehow that may have been causing my power supply, that is at the bottom of my case and FAN FACE DOWN and had been intaking air through that dirty filter, to malfunction and cause the signal loss on the monitor. I just rolled over the power supply to fan face up to intake air from inside the case and havent had issues since. ALSO i remove the CMOS shorter from the cmos pins on the motherboard (The cmos shorter is a tiny tiny tool that is used on the cmos pins on the motherboard. Look online for more info)
@@mikesunboxing im pretty sure my motherboard came with the shorter on it, but the shorter had been in a neutral position and was probably never the cause of any issue, i simply discovered the tool as i was tinkering in my computer and i just decided to removed it just in case
I’m getting no video from either onboard graphics or the graphics card. This is after resetting cmoss and changing power supply. I think the first power supply has fried my motherboard.

Thanks for the video man. My issue was the first you described, metal blocking the HDMI port on the GPU. Loosening the screws and scooting it down a tad fixed it. Thanks for saving me an hour of troubleshooting :)
It was my case slot. Wow, you would think these manufactures could easily see this. But, not in this "case'. I had to grind down some of the metal in order for the DP plugs to seat properly. My monitors work now. Thanks Mike.
Ram stick trick worked, but only boots up when I have one ram stick in not with both of my rams in at the same time could this be that the ram stick is no good ?
I have a pld tv used it as pc monitor it just stoped displaying the hdmi , conected the vga and worked. But i conected my laptop to hdmi and doesnt display . Will be borrowing a display to see if my pcs 12gb gpu still works .
bro the thing is my pc boots with the onboard graphics and when i plug my hdmi into the gpu it loads up windows but there is no display....when im playing games it would go black but i can still hear the game in the background playing but the display is off.. some people said it could be the PSU not giving enough power to my gpu so i dont know and i need my system for my work
well it is hard to say as you failed to mention what GPU you are using , what PSU you are using and the other system specs so i can't agree or disagree with the question.
great vid. I had more or less guessed the problem myself (after having changed every component in my first new build😞) but this vid really confirmed it. I am using a 3060 GPU and an older displayport monitor and getting failure to boot and/or crashes. I tried a low res HDMI tv and it worked fine. Ironically I can only boot with the HDMI, but if I then plug in the DP monitor it works fine. I am going to try to replace the DP cable, but I guess I really need to fork out for a new monitor. Many thanks Mike ;-) Ps, the upside is that I now have nearly enough components to build another PC, Duh.

Not sure if relevant, but someone might find it helpful. Acer monitors have sometimes trouble displaying picture when you enter BIOS or boot up your PC for the first time and show "no display" or "input not supported". It is a bit frustrating, but try different monitor or TV. More often than not, this is it. Boot up or instal OS and you can switch back to that monitor. Just take a mental note, that when you hit No display again in the future or need to access BIOS, this "switch of monitors" might be required again.
I run dual monitors, 1 from the DVI port and the other from HDMI. MY HP runs off the HDMI and the power adapter went out. I bought a replacement from Amazon and when it arrived i plugged it in and the HP worked without a problem. Next day, the HP would power on, but no screen. Since the HP monitor is bigger I switched it over to the DVI port and still no screen. I unplugged all cables from the HP and turned it on, and I could see the HP logo and then it shows No signal since it was not connected to the pc. After a few minutes, it shows going to sleep mode and turns off. So the HP monitor does show screen when unplugged. The video card works on my other monitor using either port. What could be the problem?

Thank you very much!
glad it helped
Great video, I think basic fault finding technique should be taught at school. How many times have I been out to help people and found that no basis fault finding had been carried out and it a simple plugging in of a lead/cable solved the problem. I always use “does it work in the middle” technique, never fails, to find problems. Thanks Mike, more videos like this needed.
Well said! it should be a basic introduction to troubleshooting
Thanks for the help! Turns out my monitor was too old. It still worked with my old computer, so I never would've thought that could be it!
modern tech is a pain sometimes

Glad you like them! and welcome to the channel, hope you stick around

That also, would be how I would solve it. Or file or bench grinder, whichever did the job best.
it is more and more common these days with multi slot cards and especially on cheaper cases

None of this fixed my issue, but after a lot of time i may just have finally fixed it. The issue seems to have been the power supply air filter at the bottom of my case being clogged up with dust and somehow that may have been causing my power supply, that is at the bottom of my case and FAN FACE DOWN and had been intaking air through that dirty filter, to malfunction and cause the signal loss on the monitor. if the cmos reset pin or tool is on the board it probably won't boot i would think

My problem is with new build that PC boots up just fine, screen comes on for 2seconds then switches off saying no DP input.
If I hold power switch on monitor it comes back on and then it’s fine. I gotta do this each and every time.
sounds like a monitor or cable issue to me, maybe try using another cable or a different port on the gpu
What if none of the lights are on for vram, cpu, gpu, or boot. It just turns on n runs but nothing else happens.
if it cycled through them first it means the pc is working and the problem is between the hdmi and the monitor, if the lights never come on could be a short circuit or bad board
Why don't I get a display until the sign in screen? It was working until I got my new SSD but now even when unplugging that I still get the same problem I cant go into the bios(It probably does because it does not fully boot when I press the bios button but I cannot see anything since there is no display) so it does switch on just i cannot use or do anything until the sign in screen
that is very common with multi monitors or when there is a issue with the UEFI on one of the devices
Thank you so much. Built a pc for the first time and was worrying for days over it not working. Turns out the hdmi cord was not in the graphics card all the way.
it happens a lot, glad you spotted it though
Hi! I woke up today and my pc is working but it doesn’t show anything. I switched to display port and I see my screen.. so my hdmi ports don’t work but display port does work. Also my motherboard has an orange light, Aorus motherboard.. what do I need to do ;(

Okay so basically the HDMI cable is able to work just fine issue is it can only give me 144hz, the dpi cable that came with my monitor would give me 180hz since that's what came with the monitor and it's what the monitor is capable of doing. But again why is my dpi one not working but the hdmi is working? Do I buy a new dpi cable? Keep in mind when it's connected to the dpi the monitor is pretty much flickering.

It can't be the cable for me because I am getting display from the motherboard display slot but not the GPU's
probably the cable not going in far enough or a bad gpu
Hello, I have built my own PC and have not only the problem in the clip but, also USB ports don’t work so my Keyboard can’t be used
sounds like there might be a short somewhere
My new gpu's fans are not actually spinning after install, what could be at fault there? The cpu and motherboard run fine.
some gpu fans dont spin until the GPU gets pretty hot. zero rpm fan technology
@@mikesunboxing I found it out by looking at the motherboard lights. The RAM light was burning orange so I reinserted them in different slots (1/3 to 2/4 or other way around not sure) and then it started fine!
@@mijkolsmithGlad you got it sorted out 🙂
Idk if you'll see this but i had the similar problem but after observing none of my usb ports are working either btw its a brand new motherboard the pc was working fine a day ago
The whole back panel including hdmi ports of the gpu and motherboard and the front usb ports arent working
I've tried resetting cmos and even the processor
edit:The system turns on all the fans r running
Is there any other solution?
Thanks in advance!!
sounds like a short circuit, take the board out of the case and try it on a test bench
So my issue is that ive recently upgraded my psu to a 1000w and a new gpu everything lights up turns on no issues but no display through my gpu so i removed it and teied running through my motherboard msi tomahawk b550 again no display and vga light is lit up on the motherboard 😢

my pc turns on everything works for like 30 seconds then the monitors and all the accessories (kbm headset and mic) just turn off
that is very strange, could be a PSU fault
Loose ram stick
Funny enough it actually the first thing you pointed out thanks for the help
glad it helped you figure out the problem
What if the keyboard doesn’t turn on as well as the monitor?
that sounds like a short circuit somewhere
@@mikesunboxing okay thanks I worked on it last night and it started working after I took 2 of the 4 sticks of ram out then I cut it off and it started so I then swapped those 2 that worked with the ones I took out and it started again!!! So idk what was up.
But now my power button blinks red….

My computer does this once in a blue moon but all i have to do is turn it off and turn it back on and everything works fine. Is this normal?
to some extent yes, sometimes there are just software glitches or incompatibilities that happen
I had this problem for months and didn’t understand why some days it would stay on and others it wouldn’t. Thank you so much 😭
glad it helped
I just ordered parts to my own pc to build it myself i pluged mb in and everything in and it didnt work i mean it didnt gave a signal on monitor and i cant fix it

What about no display monitor, no led lights on mouse and keyboard also, but the cpu fan is running, i don't have a graphics card, i only have integrated graphics card
sounds like an electrical short somewhere, but hard to tell from the limited information
I was playing a video game and never had any issues and all the sudden my pc I think reset its self but the screen went black and the keyboard and mouse lost power for 30 seconds the display never worked again I tried switching monitors I tried cmos reset I tried one stick of ram I unplugged no replugged everything all parts turn on and work perfectly fine like they did before it’s just that I get absolutely no display and now the usb ports are funky. Please help I’ve tried so many things I can’t figure it out and don’t have money to replace it I just got a new gpu for it as well I also tried switching to different display settings and used DP instead of hdmi nothing works

Have tried everything, changed power cable, HDMI cable, and all that. changed simus/bios battery, no way. The processor doesnt just get hot, so the fan doesnt turn on. what could be wrong? Help please
the cpu cooler should turn even if a CPU was not installed, it sounds like you have an electrical fault there somewhere
@@mikesunboxing True. How can I detect and resolve that
