So let me get this straight Justice Alito it is okay for you to use your free speech to say marriage is between one man and one woman but it it isn't okay for me to use my free speech to say you are a bigot?
Well, yes, anything that anyhow criticises patriarchal and/or "white" supremacist elements of the American society isn't politically correct in the slightest in certain circles. You should've noticed that by now, even in what's left of our "atheist comminity" such heretical speech is frowned upon in the best of cases.
Elite-O thinking dissent is censorship is the same as thinking there was a memo telling people not to say "Merry Christmas". And this guy is a supreme court judge. Smacking my head I live in a country with this character making important decisions.

I don't understand. Do they *_really_* think trying to hide bigotry behind the shield of "traditional values" makes it any less bigoted? Like...these "traditional values" were that certain groups of people should be excluded from certain facets of society based solely on who they were or who they loved. What definition of "bigotry" does he use that *_doesn't_* fit those beliefs perfectly?

"...seems to consist almost entirely of those words..." Did Alito take lessons from the Donald J. Trump School of Completely Stupid Hyperbole and Overstatement?
People keep talking about "Traditional views on marriage" are they aware that traditionally marriage was arranged between two people who would never even meet each other until their wedding day. Marriage, traditionally had nothing to do with love between two people and was more about gaining power. Poor families would marry off their children to rich families in the hopes that their new extended family would share the wealth. Royalty were limited to only getting married to other royalty as it was a way to peacefully extend the land you ruled over without which you would then go to war with the countries you didn't marry into. Most people today would agree that the traditional views on marriage were barbaric. Even as a shy person who has trouble speaking to women, I wouldn't object to an arranged DATE but the idea of being married to someone I've never met before is just repulsive.
Another traditional view was that men were required to marry their brother's widow. Also, many "righteous" men in the bible had multiple wives. Solomon had so many that I wonder how he managed to do anything besides "knowing" his wives... So, if we go to traditional values, is polygamy OK?

As far as I'm concerned, marriage from a legal standpoint is pretty much unconstitutional... you get a tax break after engaging in a religious ceremony?
xccmx: Nah. Religion is not required. I work in county government and every Thursday and Friday we perform civil ceremonies for 30-50 couples (more on Valentine’s Day).
The religious ceremony isn't what gives you the tax break. It's the marriage license, which can be signed by a religious authority or any justice of the peace. Lots and lots of people get married without religion. Indeed, many people get married through the simple act of saying "we're married" and then acting that way long enough, called a common-law marriage.
As others are saying, it doesn’t have to be religious: I’ve done 4 marriages, and can legally do more, bc I signed all the right paperwork in PA, and was ordained a “Reverend” online.. One of those ceremonies I actually acted the part of a Reverend, in a real church, bc two of my friends got more religious and decided they wanted that, and I was happy to go along, bc what’s the difference. The other 3 were all non-religious ceremonies, one of which was kind of out of control (I could describe it, but UA-cam might ban me.. lol), and maybe even “blasphemous” by some folk’s standards, while the other two were much more nice and respectable, just completely devoid of any religious anything. Point is, in all of those cases, it was COMPLETELY irrelevant what kind of ceremony we had. In fact, in the one case (the wild one) there wasn’t even going to be any “ceremony”, just me signing the marriage license along with the two guys getting hitched (it’s the only gay one I’ve done thus far, sadly), bc I told them what I’ve told everyone: *what/how we do this is almost completely irrelevant to the state of PA, all that matters is we turn in the paperwork for the license, along with the check or money order, and you’re legally married in the eyes of the state.* So yeah, no actual need for anything religious whatsoever. ✌️
I never understood this whole "traditional" thing. If we went back to the time he wants to be in, I assume it's the 1950's, there would be an old disgruntled man batching about how the young people these days aren't following tradition. Then we would go back to the time that old man would want to go back to and see another bitchy old man. Traditions tend to suck. That's why we move away from them so much as time progresses.
Tradition is often peer pressure from dead people. However, cumulatively it builds up culture. Sometimes tradition is rooted in lessons that are actually valuable for the time it developed but the reason was unknown or lost. For example "we don't eat the animal that can give you deadly worms if not cooked properly. Unless it has been cooked properly" Or, "spend time partying with your community to strengthen in group social bonds and relieve stress to help alleviate or resolve conflict." On a more general scale, a single family tradition can give a group of people a commonality so they can identify with each other and feel tangibly connected to their culture and their roots. It can remind them of people they loved and lost. Not all traditions are bad. But we shouldn't confuse them with being inherently valuable just because they are traditions rather than what they provide. If a tradition becomes or is recognized as harmful or no longer needed, it should be adapted or replaced with something better.

Free speech should be allowed...no matter what it's content is...people should be free to choose what they believe...so if a speech is made that is unpopular, then let society decide if they will listen or not...we are individuals that can make our own decisions...
And the way society decides may be to boycott, shout down, physically block pathways, sit-ins, bullhorns and/or thrown tomatoes. That is also an expression of free speech. All of it is allowed ... must be allowed.
It isn't this kind of thinking that is getting shouted down and self censored in institutions of higher learning. Actually, I do have some complaints about the 'woke' crowd, but this idiot comes nowhere near that. I loved everything you said and how you said it. 👏👏👍💞✌😷🎃
Divine - hahahaha!!! I suspect I have similar problems with the "woke" crowd. Not complete on-board. But is there any idea or organization with whom I'm completely on-board. I guess that's kind that point, isn't it. I'm not a fan of ideological purity.
@@misterdeity Well said! 🥰
Laura! Have you been taking meds to enhance your libido again?
If so, get a big supply of them and visit me.
@@misterdeity well said!
@@bdf2718 I have never had a libido enhancer, lol. But I really, really appreciate the offer! That is what a good stalkee is supposed to be for, I think. Like Mae West once said "I might be good, but when I'm bad, I'm better!" lol😘
You have the right to say whatever you please. And I have the right to call you wrong, to refuse to pay to listen to you, to disinvite you, or fire your ass. I have rights, too.
To them, rights are a one way road from their mouths to your ears, or their fists to your nose, or their bullets to your head.
I'm sure Elite-o would have no problems if an atheist is fired because of their lack of belief, or a non-straight person to get fired for not being straight.
In those cases, the employer's freedom to fire anyone is more important, right?
I guess, when two people's rights clash, check whose religion is the closest to Elite-o, and that person's rights are more important.
@@marjetacedilnik8622 Many states in the US have "fire-at-will" laws. If you are not a member of a union or have some other employment contract that specifically states the employer must justify firing an employee, the company can fire the employee with out justification. If there are discrimination laws that specifically prohibit termination for a protected class - gender, sexual orientation, etc - well, it still isn't good for the employee. The employee must be able to demonstrate in a court of law that this is a pattern of behavior. And the lawyer usually wants money up front. Large class action lawsuits have been successful, but as you can imagine not often.
Apologies for the long post, but I have been a supervisor in a couple of large organizations in different states. I am not advocating for this attitude and I agree it should be changed. My best suggestion is to encourage unionization by the employees.
@@catherinespencer-mills1928 And even if you manage to get a lawyer and enough documentation, you'll probably end up settling out of court (if nothing else, because of expenses), and sign a non-disclosure agreement, where you will agree that they didn't do anything wrong and that you won't tell anyone about it.
A company might have 100 settlements, and nobody has a clue about the extent of their crappy conduct...
Am I the only that didn't realize how awful Alito is until recently?
On point once again.
Ever read "Harrison Bergeron" ?
FYI, There seems to be sound issues in the 720p video.
As far as I'm concerned, marriage from a legal standpoint is pretty much unconstitutional... you get a tax break after engaging in a religious ceremony?
Yeah,right?

@@Paul_Ch52 All y'all get it !!! Seems a freaking supreme court judge doesn't. That is shocking.
It isn't this kind of thinking that is getting shouted down and self censored in institutions of higher learning. It is noticing biological differences between the sexes, it is maintaining that Math, Physics, Chemistry...etc are not "tools of the colonizer" that is what is being attacked. This old twerp is easy pickings on the "free speech" issue....he's seems more interested in keeping his narrow definition of marriage under this cloak of free speech rather than deal with the serious challenges "Woke" thinking represent to free speech.
