You should keep this going weekly and cover the offseason. This is easily my favorite podcast and don’t want it to end! Hot takes, roster changes, format stuff, player scouting…keep it going please 🤩
I started following T1 in 2017 where everyone expected them to become back to back to back World Champions, just for it to crumble in the finals. Now 7 years later, after going through multiple rosters they found the now legendary ZOFGK and become back to back World Champions. The journey up until now was filled with many many difficulties and heartbreaks, but here we are Faker and T1s 5th Title and his teammates 2nd Title. Just cinema
I've followed them ever since seeing T1 and Faker absolutely storm through the 2013 world championship. It is a SURREAL experience to be able to celebrate them being back to back world champions AGAIN. There were some dark times after that 2017 finals and honestly, hats off to you for choosing then to become a fan and still being around now 😅
So cool to see others who had a similar experience getting into League. I started watching 2017 Worlds finals because a friend said it was hype and never did I expect to see such intense emotions like that. As weird as it might sound seeing just how much winning or losing matters to Faker was very compelling and touching and emotional for me to see and I wasn't even playing the finals. This man has had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his career and somehow still manages to bounce back, to persevere. Not just perseverance alone though would be enough to have a resurgence like this. It's not just glazing, it's not just overhyping someone who's "really exceptional" but isn't as good as people actually say. He is truly the Greatest Of All Time and the wildest thing is his teammates on this new T1 roster are starting to prove that their names need to be considered up there. Maybe not on the exact same level, but absolutely the greatest roster we have ever seen in League history and probably will ever see. I was on the edge of my seat yelling and cheering at my monitor like a mad man this finals. To see this performance out of all of them and especially Faker in those insanely clutch moments and solo kills I'm just stunned with shock and happiness. I both cannot believe he is STILL this insanely good at the game but also am being forced to believe it (or as the Worlds anthem poetically says - Make them believe). I could not be more proud of equally Faker and this ZOFGK roster. Hats off to all of them, they deserve a much needed break and vacation which I hope they all get and take. As a side note, Faker, on top of being inarguably the best mid AND player in the World AGAIN now, he is also a massive philanthropist which many fans and people don't know. For good reason as well as most people who do things out of the goodness of their hearts don't want public praise for it, they just want to help people and do what they can to make the world a better place. Like, how can anyone hate this man. GOAT of League AND he lives a modest life donating a lot of his money to various charities?
It makes me feel a lot better to hear Azael was also confused about the format, considering his extensive experience across numerous titles (literal world champion btw)
For the T1 roster stuff, I feel like Guma said what he said because, even if they want to, it's not that simple. T1 needs to want to keep them (the salaries are high) and most of the players have to renegociate and he's probably aware that saying something as definitive as "We'll stick together." would give some leverage for T1 to downplay the offers when renegotiation start. So I do think there's a chance they stay together, they obviously like eachother a lot, but life ain't that simple.
With salary cap implemented in LCK, players’ best interest is to stay with T1 at least financially. They get 30% deduction for being with one team. They’re also one international trophy away from receiving further deduction. T1’s COO said, T1 will do its best to resign all of their players. So I believe this roster will stay intact. Hopefully Rekless does too.
@@snowmochi1373it also helps that faker is excempt from the salary cap,so You only need to share the cap between 4players , so can get more money , if you go to another team You maybe don't Even get a better salarys because they need to split their salarys in 5
Azael totally nailed the underlying narrative of justice for faker's 2017 run. That was his individual best performance where he literally carried 4 bodies all the way to the finals. His galio was just the pinnacle of his carry potential along with his ryze, where he wasn't just gapping his lane, but roaming to every other lane and gapping theirs too. He was actually everywhere! and that's why uzi and rng still have nightmares about the galio. It was so satisfying to see that insane performance finally be rewarded with a well deserved world title.
Faker has reached Messi levels of fame within the gaming space. Sure he’s no where near the same level of fame outside of esports/gaming. But with how simply good he’s been for so long and risen to the occasion countless times. League is so lucky to have a player like him and fuck I love that man. FAKER THE GOAT!
Actually he has reached that level of fame outside esports, he literally became an icon in his country, in the same discussion as BTS. The difference is that League will never be as big as football
Dudes. I was in my early 20's when I last watched LCS/Worlds. I tuned in and was soooo impressed to see Faker doing his thing, STILL. Against all odds.
I think fans forget that all these players that reached worlds are the best of the best. They should realize that getting to stand on that stage is an accomplishment in itself, I hope they stop the slander on losing teams just because they lost. It's a tournament, somebody will lose...and that doesn't change the fact that these players are good at what they do. I hate the fact that Chovy and Knight are getting flak and dismissed just because they lost, both of them had stellar performances in their respective regions but somehow people forget that all of a sudden.
No one forgets. Everyone is living in the moment. Just like no one forgets Faker looked bad in Summer but here we are talking about him turning it up when it’s time bc we are talking about now.
Oh absolutely. I think it's fair for people to get excited though and do a bit of trash talk. Sure when they are saying things like "knight/whoever should retire!" etc. then that's too far. Any team's fans would be super excited and want to talk a bit of bantah m8.
Zeus Oner Gumayusi and Keria just joined a very exclusive class of players who have won Worlds 2 times. To put that into perspective, only 1 non-T1 player has won Worlds twice - BeryL with DWG and DRX.
@@YuYuYuna_ This is actually such an insane stat to think about. The fact that only two players have even won worlds with 2 different teams (Duke and BeryL), but Duke did it with SKT once. My GOAT Genshin player truly is different.
@@ericqi5130 Crazy uh? Only 1 player of the 9 who have multiple World Championships never played with Faker. Only 1 won a second trophy without Faker (having won the first with him), and all the rest were Faker's teammates for all their World Championships victories. This is actually INSANE. Faker's achievements are unbelievable.
13:19 - You need to clip this into a Short. As a tennis player, it's so correct and spot on and I'm not sure people will find it. It's a great bit from this cast and it shouldn't get lost in the volume of the podcast.
@@Gorlax23 I'm almost not convinced that it saved the top fight. It absolutely impacted it, not saying it didn't, but look at how that play went by the time Ahri starts TPing. Elk is 30% hp in zhonya and Zeus is in zhonya as well. By the time it completed it would have been Elk dead to Faker's galio Q and Faker + Zeus dead. A 2 for 1 trade, sounds nice for BLG right? Well look at their HP bars after the play. Zeus and Faker legitimately 2v4'd them lmao. By the time Guma and Oner get over there Rell is 1hp, Jax is 1hp, Elk is dead and J4 is 40% hp. Im pretty sure from that point T1 just backs them into a corner and kills them 3v4 because of their low HP bars. Ahri does have ult but depends on if she uses it to kill Faker or not. Only saving grace play if T1 chose to chase them is if knight hits a charm onto Guma but Guma has ult and Ahri has no flash so it wouldn't be hard for him to react to ahri R -> E and then by that point they lost the fight. Also in this for fun theoretical Poppy would still have ult since she would've been running top to help the fight assuming she didn't know where Ahri was TPing from. Poppy could knock someone away, maybe Ahri still or J4, and the fight is still doomed. T1 going into that 3v4 (in their favor because of the very low HP bars for BLG) would have Poppy R, Xayah R, and Xin R. Lots of tools to outplay them with and they are all so low with no flashes so they have no hope of killing a Xayah with ult.
I mean yeah Keria deserves the recognition for that but imo knight TP'd in front of a wave or near it that let Poppy ult her since I think Keria saw the TP getting channeled.
I will always come back to the story of when T1's second squad was being assembled from challenger players back in the day. A couple hundred of players were doing try-outs to secure a spot on the roster but there was this one kid who was just so above and beyond others that other players decided to even change a main position from mid lane to other lanes just because they knew this guy was DIFFERENT. The guy I'm talking about was FAKER, he didn't have to try out, the roster was then built following Bengi, Impact, Piglet and PoohMandu. So when people now and in the future start talking about, "oh this guy is better than Faker" and all that shit, keep in mind that these kid's favourite player's favourite player is FAKER. The likes of Chovy, Showmaker, Scout and Knight watched so many VODS of Faker. What does he do in between minion spawns? Where does he ward? What is his recall timing? How does he play teamfights? Back in the day, Faker can solo carry a team but nowadays you actually need a whole roster of competent players to win, it revolves more on a team game more than ever. But don't get it wrong, there are MOMENTS in a series or a game that someone has to make a play that can decide the momentum, flow or result of the game and if you have watched that JDG series last year and this BLG series final then you would know that Faker showed up, time and time again and in those moments made key plays that turned the tides in their favour. Faker, is the GOAT, not just in League of Legends but of Esports, no one will come close to what he has done for a video game and the achievements he has attained, you know what is crazy? HE IS NOT DONE YET, the fire in him is still burning, but one day, he will retire so enjoy these moments because they are fleeting.
We are so blessed to be witnessing all these achievements from Faker live. There might not be another Faker-level equivalent League player ever again, and the people in the future will only be able to watch VODs or reminisce, whereas we are experience the exhilarating moments live...
Yeah I honestly was so stressed and excited in the moment on the fight coming out of the replay I didn't even notice Keria's play until I rewatched the finals (I like to rewatch some costreamers' castings of it like Caedrel). Absolutely insane. If Ahri is there they get the kill onto Faker as well and it's a 2 for 1 trade with Elk dying. If that TP finishes BLG would stifle T1's baron play with both solo laners dead. I think maybe T1 still wins the fight though because of how low BLG got. By the time the rest of T1 got there everyone on BLG was incredibly low. Absolutely insane, I hope more people rewatch the games and/or content creators/streamers highlight it.
not even just Keria if you watch slowmo of the fight Zeus put a control ward near Faker so Bin ended up attacking it like twice ultimately giving Faker enough time and after Faker Zhonya he dodged Jarvan just barely to avoid dying.... the whole fight has not just 1 but three clutch play from T1
@@dontask3613 He was chosen as a reserve player in case of an emergency. Also, he did mention playing ping pong and chess with the main roster when they asked xD
@dontask3613 he's signed to their academy team so they brought him as the sub. It'd be really goofy for him to brag about it but technically he is on the team.
Rekkles didn't win worlds and is not a world champion. He plays for the challenger team for the org that won the world championship. He played absolutely no part in it. Y'all Rekkles stans are dumb af.
I dont usually comment on youtube videos but I want to say thank you to everyone involved in making this podcast. Love hearing these guys talk about the game in a more casual setting. Enjoy the break you, you all earned it.
Casual league watcher, don't have time to dive into the esports side as much as I use to in my college days, so I genuinely thank you guys for this podcast to catch me up.
Glad the left side of Mark's face got to make an appearance on the dive. Regarding 100T, I'd like if instead of finding a replacement that there's another spot for a tier 2 team. Having 2 spots for the lower league to compete for seems more hype and I fear if it's only one spot that it's likely the same singular team that plays in the LTA will just dominate and keep that spot every year.
Its kinda insane that few years ago we were debating who could eventually replace Faker as the GOAT of LoL one day, and now I don't think thats ever possible as he is still to this day expanding the gap between him and any potential contenders.
I'm glad they brought it up in the intro. It really is hard to be dominant over long stretches in a game like League where the meta changes with patches that occur frequently. In any traditional sport the game stays almost exactly the same across decades and once you hone a certain set of skills you can continue to succeed as long as your body doesn't let you down. Here the champs you were good at could suddenly become useless, the playstyle you won with can become impossible, etc. You really do need to have some incredible tenacity and flexibility to be able to tough it out and still come back to the top.
14:04 , its ended up like a huge bait in my opinion, they gave ahri jax skarner on swiss stage and ended up winning it. It feels like they didnt want Bin to pick up jax too much so that he get familiar with how zeus gragas, and it was faker sylas on swiss but now he block-pick sylas with the galio and then knight picked ahri into it. I think they super ready to put that draft trap on deciding match. (can't forget about keria poppy canceling knight's tp on game 5) 25:00, I think I heard this on caedrel stream where we talk about how teams now just go all in on enemy support whenever they got the chance because sometimes the support pick is one of the most important engage tool for enemy or other reasons. We can see by how T1 kinda "focused" or putting pressure on Meiko, Lehends, and now ON (add miky on swiss stage).
I remember asking my friend about League back in 2017 on our way home, back then I haven't played league a single time, and he answered Faker. I asked why? and he said because he was the winningest player of all time. I started following League in 2021 during the pandemic and when I watched the old matches, I was so upset I wasn't there to witness all that. Can't believe I get to witness another T1 dynasty 7 years later
Idk how anyone still has doubts that this is the greatest lol team to ever exist and it’s very likely that it will stay that way for a very long time, if not all time. That whole team should all be in the hall of legends.
BTW, the COO of T1 stated that on T1's side they're very happy with the current roster and wants to keep them for as long as they can. The ZOFGK brand has also gained a lot of fans and momentum that I think T1 will be very reluctant to give up. On the side of the players, because of the recent LCK salary cap, staying in T1 will allow T1 to pay them 30% more because of how long they've been with the team. It seems doubtful any other team will be able to offer them a larger salary and still maintain a competitive roster. Profit-wise, I just saw a Korean press release stating that T1's sales increased by 45% last year and their merchandise sales are set to overtake even their sponsorships so if the T1 fanbase increases substantially after this year's win like they did last year, T1 might actually finally become profitable. I'm worried of course, but I think there's a strong likelihood this roster will continue.
Merchandise profitablity is only short term, if im being honest. Yes, through ZOFGK T1 can gather many fans from each of the players, and that it will always bring potential buyers. The only downside of this is that the timeline of popularity of T1 would be in line with ZOFGK. If any of the player leaves, that is at least a 5%< drop in merchandise sales. This is also potent in faker, as the face of the league. T1's comes still from Faker, and he is the key line towards the breakthrough of the company.... Which is why aside from finding another good player that will represent T1 in League, T1 need to also find success in other games (Valorant is a key point T1 should consider about, as of now they build a good team for Val)
@baronlightyt965 ahh I’m just talking about why ZOFGK would want to stay and why T1 would want to keep them. Of course Faker is still the main draw of T1’s popularity and always will be (especially after this Worlds lol 🐐 ). But the players beside him probably have the most mainstream recognition after Faker. Staying would be the best move for the career imo
Also, with LPL implementing stricter salary cap, going overseas to LPL for money just became a lot harder. Even worse, multiple LPL teams are projected to spend bare minimum on their roster due to significant drop in profits which makes staying with T1 much better for players financially
Based on the 20th Anniversary documentary released by T1 on their YT channel (released just about a month or two before this year’s Worlds 2024), as stated by their COO Josh, since 2019, T1 has an org became profitable enough to be independent, and it just improved year after year, with multiple brand deals, aside from the merch (which is staggering already) plus their home ground cafe, pc cafe and small events fan area is being duplicated by another esports franchise because it has been so successful
@@franckielouann4651 Yeah their collabs showed outstanding results imo, I think the skincare one sold out a livestream sale in 10?12 minutes. I’m sure other companies would definitely note. T1 fans are going to go broke next year 😭 Although, the influx of brand deals and ads will probably cut into T1 practice time which is a definite downside :/ This and the DDOS might be the biggest reason if any of ZOFGK decide to leave.
It requires two great teams to have a great Final, and there two amazing teams, no one can say these where not the two best teams that faced each other in the Finals.
Mark is completely losing the plot in the Best of 3 discussion. The reason people enjoyed Spring was NOT BECAUSE IT WAS BO1, it was because of a completely non-replicable coincidence that all the teams were immensely competitive with each other and the league's overall mechanical skill and execution was much higher than it usually is. People would have probably enjoyed that split MORE if it had been bo3, it wasn't because it was Bo1 that it was good. I'm not watching Bo1, pointe finale. If the only way to be heard is to stop supporting this nonsense then so be it.
24:30 idk if you were going to connect this to Lehends, but I was thinking the same. Lehends is my favorite support behind Keria, but T1 made him and On look normal the last 2 games of both series.
Hey guys, congrats on a brilliant worlds. Thank you for continuing with the Dive throughout Worlds. Appreciate hearing from you through it especially since Jatt hasnt been doing his JLXP episodes. what a tournament from T1.. what faker did in game 4 and 5.. i ve been watching him since 2013, literally my favourite champs are zed riven and leblanc to this day because of him and he s still doing this shit man.. crazy crazy crazy crazy.. as a T1 fan as incredible as them going back to back winners at worlds is i do hope that the T1 management and higher ups learned from this worlds especially after the summer split they ve had - and with the new formats in 2025 - that .. its pretty obvious.. the players were completely burnt out by summer (post MSI) cause they ve had 0 time off between their practice, official games and off-the-rift responsibilities + the DDOS stuff ruining their practice both in scrims and soloq and their streaming even and i would imagine their mental as well.. t1 management have to massively cut down on their sponsor responsibilities and stuff (red bull event in december then lck starts in january iirc.. like come on guys.. these guys cant possibly only have a month off after this run..). we literally saw what happens when they go to a new environment, dont have to do a bunch of fan meets and ads/sponsored content and stuff and just can practice and scrim and do a media day once a week and thats it. we saw them in T1 content have fun going out sightseeing casually and having some amazing dinners/lunches in restaurants in paris that like.. yeah when these players arent burnt out and it doesnt ruin their performance which then ruins their mental and makes them doubt themselves and causes them to try to play like other teams instead of their style (summer split).. you can see they re just the 5 best players in the world. i ve been saying this since before zeus debuted from seeing his soloq games.. i never seen anything like it since prime rookie faker and now he s doing the faker F key stuff as well.. hahahah 20 years old goat toplaner beating bin in the final... madness. exempt from military service already as well.. faker ofcourse deserved FMVP but this kid man.. i love him so much.
T1 capitalizing on g4 was another thing where faker saw ziggs using his w top then proceeds to tower dove him... In the mid play ziggs had no flash, and used w to kill the tower... Which then t1 ashe arrow and faker engaged... Just little things that t1 is so good playing around
I won't be surprised if the roster break up and I already accepted that but with the new things coming up on pro play,, I really want to see how ZOFGK-T1 do in fearless draft and how they would perform in the new changes in LCK.
T1 played a masterclass in the final game, allowing BLG to get comfortable, starting with their draft, and saying, "Prove it" with your best champs. That's why they are so clutch. Faker held the line in that final fight, the rest of the squad arriving in just the right moment to finish this off, with Keria's knock being ultra clutch. Such a good worlds, but as the LPL fans have said, Faker and LCK is the father of LPL.
I remember when Faker was inevitable during the 2013-2017 era and people were hoping anyone would beat him. I see less of that now, maybe it'll happen next year but this T1 roster is so fun to watch regardless if they win or lose. It's peak League and you can only hope you see that fun in other teams like Flyquest, G2, BLG, etc. Makes you want to queue a game after.
The one thing that each year I am always anxious about is when will Faker announce his retirement. T1 has always been built with him as the core but without him i wonder how T1 will be.
I mean with his wrist condition and this 5th win, I wonder if this will be it. I hope not but if he does retire then who will it be? The one who can replace him which comes with the burden of replacing the best player in league history.
I rewatched this series after seeing it live and when it got to game 5, the very last fight before T1 pushed in to win, I was freaking out like, WHERE IS KNIGHT? WHY ISNT HE TP?? DID HE TP MID? Turns out Keria Poppy Ulted Knight while he was channeling TP. I think that is the most overlooked moment of the final game. We didnt see it because the obs were on the fight in top lane. But if you watch the minimap, you can see Keria walk toward Knight and then Kinght flies back toward his base. EDIT: I paused to type this out right before Azael mentioned it XD
So they dont want to do Bo3 because western teams have had small international success by playing Bo1s? Sounds like a poor excuse to not do Bo3 tbh. Bo3 is more fun to watch for the viewer and gives pros more experience playing a longer series.
I've watched so many different kinds of televised sports (football, baseball, soccer, etc) and could not understand the allure, why so many people cared, but dang, watching LOL Worlds for the 1st time in 2024 made me finally get it. Thank you, UA-cam for putting the start of this tournament in my feed after I randomly watched the Linkin Park MV.
Faker is the Michael Jordan of League. Don't even dare put Lebron on the same breath as Faker in that regards. Faker didn't jump from team to team looking for superteams when his team didn't perform and throws teammates under the bus.
Not here for a product, we are here for a sport. All of his explanations were to “help the product” or to “create content”. Wtf is that. It is a business, sure, but if the NFL or NBA started to change the format strictly for money or content reasons, people would be pissed.
@@eclipsingshadows5421 You're complaining about more play opportunities. For both LTA North and South. Not only do they get to cross train with each other, but also mix rosters, scrim cross region, and build each other up. I see nothing wrong with it. Sure the formats are a little different. But they're getting a whole 3rd split, more competition domestically and a new International Tournament. The only trade off is the LCS branding.
@@ProdigalGuitarist No, they just share slots with LTA South. Plus, we weren't doing much with the 3 teams we had going anyways. We don't win. Maybe less slots will light a fire under their asses.
So for the breakdown for regions Korea gets 4 spots China gets 4 spots NA and SA gets 1 spot each and split a 2nd spot. All minor regions get 1. So there are only 2 major regions now, but LTA makes it try to feel like it's a major region but it's a glorified demotion for NA. NA and SA dont get 2 slots, they only get 1 and korea and china get all the slots. Feels sad bro.
LTA is the region. North and South are not regions, they are subregions within the region of LTA. Edit: Also the east gets 3 slots. The winner of MSI and Worlds get an extra slot.
When knight picked smolder, I knew the series was good for T1. Knight plays so badly at internationals, because of pressure. So him playing off comfort in game 4 I figured his mental would be rough if it went to game 5. I could see him wanting to go back to comfort and T1 being able to draft around that.
The LTA moving away from BO3 is a huge mistake... if teams are aren't used to playing BO3, they won't be able to draft well against LCK and LPL teams during the BO3s and ultimately, BO5s.
Faker isn't performing better - at least in comparison to his competition. In 2013 he was literally solo winning 1v9 games. He would dominate lanes so hard that the game was over in 8 minutes. In the 2016/2017 era, on Ryze specifically he was winning 1v4 fights, solo killing barons, or solo taking inhibs at like 15 minutes. His farming back then made Chovy look like a bronze player. Faker is MUCH better now at overall game strategy, but as far as level of play he isn't as dominant.
@@ZyrexShorts129 Fakers peak was 2017, but the biggest skill gap between him and the next guy is 2016. Just watch that worlds... You can see that any champ he picks will just win. That's how good he was. He was better in 2017 but 2015-2016 there was no one in the same dimension as him.
All the best teams in the world that win MSI/Worlds play best of 3's and they play way more games then western leagues and they ALWAYS win maybe it's not the sole reason but it does help a lot...
They were mentioning about Guma talking about next year But i'm surprised they didn't mention about what Keria said because he made it sound like he was not gonna play next year
Why don't we have any fearless? Not wanting to stress the teams out isn't a valid reason. The new first international tournament is going to be fearless draft, and LTA teams won't have any practice with it.
It is 12 years. He missed Worlds 3 times (2014-2018-2020). He attended Worlds 9 times (2013-2015-2016-2017-2019-2021-2022-2023-2024). He won 5 of them.
Meteos is right it always blows my mind seeing all the T1 and Faker haters. Honestly this is the greatest team and the greatest player we have in esports by a lot and it's not close. But some people will still choose to hate and complain. It's true when they say "you're haters will see you walk on water and say it's only because you can't swim" actually pathetic people.
Zeus has said he got very high offers from certain teams from LPL this year (reportedly 2x what T1's offered) He didn't know should he stay or not, until Oner convinced him to stay for another year. If anyone is leaving the team next year, it's very likely to be him. Guma has said multiple times that he wants to stay with T1, however he's also say that he'd like to match/surpass the legacy of Faker before they won in 2023, and he joked that he's never achieving that if he stays with Faker. It's reported that he took a paycut last year for the team to stay together. Keria has also said he wants to continue to play with Faker and Guma. It is probably easier to keep him from a business standpoint, since on average supports contracts are much lower than solo laners. Though, he played with Ruler during Asian Games, and Ruler is probably coming back so there is still chance that Keria might not stay in T1. Oner is probably staying. Man has said that he wants esports contracts to last longer like traditional sports contracts. Although he won 2 times, keeping him is probably easier than getting another big names junglers. If EWC counts as an international tournament, then luxury tax from the salary cap literally doesn't matter for ZOFGK. Even if not, another"Faker rules" states that if a player stays with a team for 3+ years will receive a 30% discount when calculating their salary cap. There are also loopholes like streaming contracts or paying through stocks. GenG is probably keeping Chovy & Canyon, KT announced they are keeping Bdd, Showmaker is still with DK, don't know about HLE but I'll assume they're keeping Viper. Big orgs are benefited by keeping their star players for years. Unless some of them are investing big, it is not very likely that ZOGK will get as much as they had with the new team than with T1 now. Well, and there is also LPL. Therefore IMO the problem is either whether T1 got the money to pay them, whether they want to stay, or if the whole salary bubble bursts. T1 has been losing money, so do every other teams in LCK/LPL. It will be very difficult to even reduce the loss if T1 decides to keep them, unless someone is willing to get a paycut.
Pretty sure LPL got a stricter salary cap starting next season, I dont think any LPL team would even be able to pay Zeus more than what he earns at T1 but I could be wrong. I know a lot of Korean players are looking to return to LCK too.
I really hope Faker picks Sylas for his skin. His most played champ at worlds and most of his highlights were on Sylas. I also reaallly want a prestige T1 skin for him. That would be epic.
One thing I wish would happen in MSI or this new tournament winners get a skin or smth. It’s kinda lame how beating the best of the best internationally doesn’t let you leave your mark on the game. Maybe the winning team could pick the conqueror skin or at least get a chroma for it? Idk maybe SOMETHING
Oner so underrated ; he's been the best player overall on T1 for the past year. Without Oner, no worlds. Just mark my words, if Oner leaves T1, they won't succeed next season. Keria had a rough patch during summer, but he also carried worlds. Oner and Keria deserved the MVP award as much as Faker, if not more.
Oner and Keria hard carried during swiss and semi's, but MVP is only for finals. Faker had the most crazy GOAT plays in the entire series. Keria also did damn good in the finals, but Faker had the more game-defining final plays. Everyone did play well though
Oner and Keria had a great finals, yeah Oner is so often overlooked for what he brings to the team. His synergy with Faker has been instrumental for T1. But you can't really deny that Faker was the true MVP in the finals. Even his haters can't argue otherwise, he really did make the big plays that were very key.
Hate the "T1 was trash without faker" and "Oner was the weak link" The problem was not only not having faker but using poby. Imagine playing with a midlaner that never have push and is perma losing the lane 1v1. Literally most midlaners from every region can at least hold themselves in lane. Poby was just soloQ bad level. Mid is the most important lane when it comes to macro. T1 with poby would still play top e bot the same way because they don't need midlaner to win lane. Oner in could n ever step into the river because it was an automatic 2v1 vs him. So he was basically farming his jungle and getting invaded with no aid because the oposition would always have perma mid prio. The only game that poby did not in was vs NS who had at the time 3 mid laners and all of them were even worse than poby Not to say faker is not the difference, but you put Closer in that team and they win at least half of the games they lost

Agreed. Please do it weekly all year round!
Just cinema
same for me, my first experience with them was that final they got 0-3 to Samsung Galaxy and wow, what a time to be here coming from there
I've followed them ever since seeing T1 and Faker absolutely storm through the 2013 world championship.
You sound ancient bro, I respect you. 😅
@@offthegrid777 Damn 2017 is ancient nowadays? What about people who started playing since 2009 beta
It makes me feel a lot better to hear Azael was also confused about the format, considering his extensive experience across numerous titles (literal world champion btw)
he was and probably still is a WOW warlock pvp god.
@@snowmochi1373it also helps that faker is excempt from the salary cap,so You only need to share the cap between 4players , so can get more money , if you go to another team You maybe don't Even get a better salarys because they need to split their salarys in 5
And oner talked about wanting to win domestically with these same guys.
Someone asked Uzi why they let Faker get galio 5 games in a row. Uzi said, ‘if we didn’t, he would’ve destroyed us even more.’ lol
He's reached that level of fame in Korea
Actually he has reached that level of fame outside esports, he literally became an icon in his country, in the same discussion as BTS. The difference is that League will never be as big as football
@@TheRagheb95 not too sure tbh, took decades for football to be what it is today might not take that long for esport to get there.
Lol messi has the most liked post ever on insta
@@Jerry-zn1iznot really, he’s “only” getting paid around 6 million. That’s nothing compared to the average premier league football players.
Dudes. I was in my early 20's when I last watched LCS/Worlds. I tuned in and was soooo impressed to see Faker doing his thing, STILL. Against all odds.
I left this video with such a great mouth feel, thank you guys
Kobe is in his supervillain camera angle arc now and I’m all for it
his timing with that banana was fuckin hilarious
The best teams don't always make the finals because of the format, we can't forget that. KT vs IG 2018 rings a bell.
If someone gonna come close to Faker, it might be Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi or Keria
damn who knew the next generation was next to Faker all along
Zeus Oner Gumayusi and Keria just joined a very exclusive class of players who have won Worlds 2 times.
To put that into perspective, only 1 non-T1 player has won Worlds twice - BeryL with DWG and DRX.
@@YuYuYuna_ This is actually such an insane stat to think about. The fact that only two players have even won worlds with 2 different teams (Duke and BeryL), but Duke did it with SKT once. My GOAT Genshin player truly is different.
Let me tell you about a goat named poby.
@@ericqi5130 Crazy uh? Only 1 player of the 9 who have multiple World Championships never played with Faker. Only 1 won a second trophy without Faker (having won the first with him), and all the rest were Faker's teammates for all their World Championships victories. This is actually INSANE. 13:19 - You need to clip this into a Short. As a tennis player, it's so correct and spot on and I'm not sure people will find it. It's a great bit from this cast and it shouldn't get lost in the volume of the podcast.
Thanks to Azael for bringing out the Poppy verdict into Ahri TP. That was the game deciding verdict.
Although it saved that top fight I think scaling/team fight T1 was going to win anyways after the dragon fight.
Also, this T1 roster went undefeated in 2022 spring and went on a 24 games win streak after that. It's also an insane record.
honestly, Keria's ulti on ahri tp on the last play was game changing!
ikr, definitely one of those crucial plays that most of us didn't even see except on the minimap
If Knight's TP actually went through... BLG would've taken the W
No they would not have. @kuvjason7236
not even just Keria
if you watch slowmo of the fight Zeus put a control ward near Faker so Bin ended up attacking it like twice ultimately giving Faker enough time
and after Faker Zhonya he dodged Jarvan just barely to avoid dying.... the whole fight has not just 1 but three clutch play from T1

Shoutout to you guys for putting out a post finals episode!! It’s always been missing in past years.
Casual league watcher, don't have time to dive into the esports side as much as I use to in my college days, so I genuinely thank you guys for this podcast to catch me up.
Love how fast they drop these. Sad worlds is over, but this was such a fun tourney
MarkZ is a true riot executive, spending his time working on “mouth feels”
“For the product”, “to make content”.
So much for this being a sport.
Slightly better than my boss saying, "we need to have good touches with our clients"
Faker is like Hugh Jackman. They're gonna make him do it until he's 90
"fans are gonna be reignited cause the letters changed from LCS to LTA" is crazy optimistic
Its kinda insane that few years ago we were debating who could eventually replace Faker as the GOAT of LoL one day, and now I don't think thats ever possible as he is still to this day expanding the gap between him and any potential contenders.
This podcast became my favorite this year ! Love it
I'm glad they brought it up in the intro.
The mouth feel of this episode is great
14:04 , its ended up like a huge bait in my opinion, they gave ahri jax skarner on swiss stage and ended up winning it. It feels like they didnt want Bin to pick up jax too much so that he get familiar with how zeus gragas, and it was faker sylas on swiss but now he block-pick sylas with the galio and then knight picked ahri into it. I think they super ready to put that draft trap on deciding match. (can't forget about keria poppy canceling knight's tp on game 5)
25:00, I think I heard this on caedrel stream where we talk about how teams now just go all in on enemy support whenever they got the chance because sometimes the support pick is one of the most important engage tool for enemy or other reasons. We can see by how T1 kinda "focused" or putting pressure on Meiko, Lehends, and now ON (add miky on swiss stage).
of all things i'm going to comment about, it's the way Kobe laughed when Mark said LTA has a good mouth feel, made me laugh out loud too
I remember asking my friend about League back in 2017 on our way home, back then I haven't played league a single time, and he answered Faker.
Pronouncing the LEC as lec worked for us, became the basis for Lectronic, some absolute banner songs were created
This podcast had great earfeel
LTA tingles my mouth to say. Good mouth feel.
T1 fans are going to go broke next year 😭
Although, the influx of brand deals and ads will probably cut into T1 practice time which is a definite downside :/ This and the DDOS might be the biggest reason if any of ZOFGK decide to leave.
It requires two great teams to have a great Final, and there two amazing teams, no one can say these where not the two best teams that faced each other in the Finals.
Pretty cool to get the commissioner of the 3rd best region on the last show.
🦅 NAMEN 🦅
Mark is completely losing the plot in the Best of 3 discussion. The reason people enjoyed Spring was NOT BECAUSE IT WAS BO1, it was because of a completely non-replicable coincidence that all the teams were immensely competitive with each other and the league's overall mechanical skill and execution was much higher than it usually is. People would have probably enjoyed that split MORE if it had been bo3, it wasn't because it was Bo1 that it was good. I'm not watching Bo1, pointe finale. If the only way to be heard is to stop supporting this nonsense then so be it.
there is both bo1, bo3 and bo5 for LTA in 2025. how can you be this worked up?!
24:30 idk if you were going to connect this to Lehends, but I was thinking the same. Lehends is my favorite support behind Keria, but T1 made him and On look normal the last 2 games of both series.

what a tournament from T1.. what faker did in game 4 and 5.. i ve been watching him since 2013, literally my favourite champs are zed riven and leblanc to this day because of him and he s still doing this shit man.. crazy crazy crazy crazy..
as a T1 fan as incredible as them going back to back winners at worlds is i do hope that the T1 management and higher ups learned from this worlds especially after the summer split they ve had - and with the new formats in 2025 - that .. its pretty obvious.. the players were completely burnt out by summer (post MSI) cause they ve had 0 time off between their practice, official games and off-the-rift responsibilities + the DDOS stuff ruining their practice both in scrims and soloq and their streaming even and i would imagine their mental as well.. t1 management have to massively cut down on their sponsor responsibilities and stuff (red bull event in december then lck starts in january iirc.. like come on guys.. these guys cant possibly only have a month off after this run..). we literally saw what happens when they go to a new environment, dont have to do a bunch of fan meets and ads/sponsored content and stuff and just can practice and scrim and do a media day once a week and thats it. we saw them in T1 content have fun going out sightseeing casually and having some amazing dinners/lunches in restaurants in paris that like.. yeah when these players arent burnt out and it doesnt ruin their performance which then ruins their mental and makes them doubt themselves and causes them to try to play like other teams instead of their style (summer split).. you can see they re just the 5 best players in the world. i ve been saying this since before zeus debuted from seeing his soloq games.. i never seen anything like it since prime rookie faker and now he s doing the faker F key stuff as well.. hahahah
20 years old goat toplaner beating bin in the final... madness. exempt from military service already as well.. faker ofcourse deserved FMVP but this kid man.. i love him so much.
Getting a vertical mouse help with my wrist is comfort.
The mouthfeel on this episode was top notch
The one thing that each year I am always anxious about is when will Faker announce his retirement. T1 has always been built with him as the core but without him i wonder how T1 will be.

So they dont want to do Bo3 because western teams have had small international success by playing Bo1s? Sounds like a poor excuse to not do Bo3 tbh. Bo3 is more fun to watch for the viewer and gives pros more experience playing a longer series.

@@eclipsingshadows5421 NFL and NBA make those decisions literally all the time its obv u dont watch either of those leagues lol why comment on them?
@@ProdigalGuitarist you're gonna watch it anyways, so who cares?
Great mouthfeel, Mark. Good job.
So for the breakdown for regions
Korea gets 4 spots
China gets 4 spots
NA and SA gets 1 spot each and split a 2nd spot.
@MagiRemmie So korea and China get 3 spots each. NA gets 1 maybe 2 if they win.
Not only are there still Bo3 for 2/3 of the year, the latter half of split 3 is all Bo5
I think we’ll be fine
Less dead games!
Shout out to The Dive 2024!!! See you soon! Also, I still have not gotten an answer on the order teams chose opponents.
Faker is Goku, even LS said it reactively after that last Teamfight.
The Dive!!!
Even the two clouds dragon supported that last teamfight
Faker is similar to Tom Brady. Multi generational domination. In later years performs even better than his early years
Faker isn't performing better - at least in comparison to his competition.
@@zebrion5793 yeah but the last 2 games feels like 2017 faker
@@ZyrexShorts129 Yah, most important games and he played " Rekklessssss "
@@ZyrexShorts129 Fakers peak was 2017, but the biggest skill gap between him and the next guy is 2016. Just watch that worlds... You can see that any champ he picks will just win. That's how good he was. He was better in 2017 but 2015-2016 there was no one in the same dimension as him.
2nd half was the most corporate speak of all time
All the best teams in the world that win MSI/Worlds play best of 3's and they play way more games then western leagues and they ALWAYS win maybe it's not the sole reason but it does help a lot...
Correlation =/= causation
They were mentioning about Guma talking about next year
But i'm surprised they didn't mention about what Keria said because he made it sound like he was not gonna play next year
What makes me the most sad is less dive content.
You wanna beat T1? Don't give them a ticket to worlds, simple as that.
Why don't we have any fearless? Not wanting to stress the teams out isn't a valid reason. The new first international tournament is going to be fearless draft, and LTA teams won't have any practice with it.
split one is fearless. the stress comment was explaining why it will be 12 minutes between games instead of 8 when they're doing fearless
I love this content thank you
He’s actually been doing it for 12 years right? 2013-2024? That’s 12 years
2024 - 2013 is 11.
It actually is 12. You have to include 2013. It’s 11 years from 13-24, but if you include the 2013 year it’s 12
@@MagiRemmie Yeah, mathematically, 2024-2013 is 11, but let's just take the example, 2023-2024 = 1, but it's 2 years....
It is 12 years. He missed Worlds 3 times (2014-2018-2020). He attended Worlds 9 times (2013-2015-2016-2017-2019-2021-2022-2023-2024). He won 5 of them.
yall are wrong, its 13. he was hard grinding solo q in 2012
Meteos is right it always blows my mind seeing all the T1 and Faker haters. Honestly this is the greatest team and the greatest player we have in esports by a lot and it's not close. But some people will still choose to hate and complain. It's true when they say "you're haters will see you walk on water and say it's only because you can't swim" actually pathetic people.
Zeus has said he got very high offers from certain teams from LPL this year (reportedly 2x what T1's offered)
He didn't know should he stay or not, until Oner convinced him to stay for another year.
I think the only person that would leave t1 is Zeus. Guma is a superstar and will be the new face if Faker decides to retire in a year or couple.
Mark do be having a hard time justifying a lot of these changes lmao
Oner so underrated ; he's been the best player overall on T1 for the past year. Without Oner, no worlds. Just mark my words, if Oner leaves T1, they won't succeed next season. Keria had a rough patch during summer, but he also carried worlds.
Oner and Keria deserved the MVP award as much as Faker, if not more.
To me all of them ZOFGK deserved the MVP 😅
Oner and Keria hard carried during swiss and semi's, but MVP is only for finals. Faker had the most crazy GOAT plays in the entire series. Keria also did damn good in the finals, but Faker had the more game-defining final plays. Everyone did play well though
Oner and Keria had a great finals, yeah Oner is so often overlooked for what he brings to the team. His synergy with Faker has been instrumental for T1. But you can't really deny that Faker was the true MVP in the finals. Even his haters can't argue otherwise, he really did make the big plays that were very key.
Hate the "T1 was trash without faker" and "Oner was the weak link"
The problem was not only not having faker but using poby.
The only game that poby did not in was vs NS who had at the time 3 mid laners and all of them were even worse than poby
Not to say faker is not the difference, but you put Closer in that team and they win at least half of the games they lost
