I’m a finish carpenter and recently had to start buying my own tools. While the other guys are tangling around with air hoses I’m running around fully cordless sanding with a cordless vacuum and all. RYOBI gets you the tools that do what the expensive ones do for half the price. A bright green tool is also hard to loose.

I've had my Ryobi tools for about a year now and I love all of them. They each serve their purpose well and they are surprisingly powerful. I also take great care of my stuff so I expect them to last for years on end. Thanks for the video!

Admittedly I only owned the Ryobi brushed stuff for a short period of time before I bought all the new HP stuff. I can say I have had good luck with most of it. One of the things that keeps me buying into the Ryobi stuff is all they’re gadgets and gizmos.

Oh, electricians use Ryobi all the time. I just got the Ryobi SDS + and it runs like a champ!
I got this set. It's perfect for the DIY and home jobs I do. The recip saw is really efficient for what it is. The circ saw is a bit weak, but it is handy for cross cutting 2x4s in awkward places.
I think a lot of tool snobs hate on ryobi I own 20 different Ryobi tools. I enjoy the low price, I am just a dad with tools.I can buy a Ryobi tool do a small project and not break the bank.
I may use a saw 3 times a year. I own a bicycle I enjoy riding some, It wont win tour de France. why does everyone throw Ryobi under the bus in the likes of Milwaukee. its a great tools for Guys who just play on weekends.
my son in law always sneers and hates to use my ryobi tools. The point I make is I got 20 vs his 3 dewalt tools. low entry price solid dependability for Dads with Dreams!

You have so many tools he doesn't you could do an infinite amount of jobs on your own that he would have to borrow or rent just to complete.
Milwaukee is the real garbage to me, they're overpriced and have been basically the same tools for like 7 years. The new HP ryobi tools have basically replaced ridgid and if you need more power buy dewalt flexvolt.
What's great about using Ryobi tools professionally is that you don't worry about them being stolen. And if they are stolen they are cheaper to replace. My Ryobi tools are the vintage blue. My Ryobi tools are old and still kicking doing what they are meant to do. I do own an 18V Dewalt circular saw and it barely cuts 1/2" ply on its way to bogging down.
Ryobi is the Most Innovative tool manufacturer in the world. Don't let their prices fool you cuz Ryobi tools can handle the work.
I modified my old blue Ryobi 14.4V circular saw to accept the new Milwaukee 18V batteries. What a difference in performance! Don't recommend it tho eventually the poor little motor couldn't handle all that extra power after repeated use. Both of my old 18V DeWalt and old 18V Milwaukee circular saws could barely rip 2x4 studs. About 24 inches of ripping was all she went, it wasn't the saws its was the old style nicad batteries. Once replaced with lithium-iron batteries those saws went on a tear.
Just past Saturday i did a whole new door jamb and the tools gave me no issues really first time ever doing a project that size just regular guy doing a job and used the airstrike nail gun too for brick molding n interior frames and very amazed with it
I’m an hvac contractor I use Dewalt and Milwaukee every day my opinion ryobi tools are made for homeowners but I’ve seen them in a construction side (window installation) working like any other brand I even ask the guy his opinion about it he told me that he bought it because of the price but he is happy and planning to upgrade to the hp + line ,recently I bought a ryobi 18g nailer work fantastic
I believe if you are a contractor planning to use them every day buy the hp+ line brushless
A friendly reminder treat your tool well clean them at least once a month all it takes is a little bit of wd40
There not bad tools actually it’s my first power tool kit a few years ago and my dad jacked them from me and uses them for around his house he’s very impressed and he loves his Milwaukees
I began a handyman service in 2003 and a friend bought me a Ryobi kit and it was ok, all the tools were blue back then. The drills were the best and the rest wore out just over two years. The batteries didn't last very long between use but I kept with them until they came out with the green and lithium 18 volt batteries and it was a game changer for me. I have used DeWalt drills in the past but I like the Ryobi drills more because they are lighter and they feel better in my hand. Currently I have 3 Ryobi drills and one of them, the oldest, is around 9 years old and still going(it makes a high pitch 'ruuuuu' noise though) but it still does what it needs to do. Ryobi drills are hard to kill. I have a 6 pack charger now because 2 of the chargers gave out and one I left in the rain and it was done...it was not plugged in either.If a single charger gets wet, you can dry it out, doesn't matter, it's toast.

Picked that kit up for $200 about too remodel my bathroom and get my porch built and after this I think it was well spent with me luck

Had ryobi for near 20 years for home use (only battery tools I use for personal/ family use). I think they are the best bang for the buck for a homeowner/ handy person. Figure on buying batteries every 3to4 years and tools every 10to15 years. Used many top brands on diffrent jobsites (they are better), seen a few break but not many, had to use my ryobi s a few times on jobsites (often just had them in my car), got laughed at, but got the job done.

@@willia3r I would recommend the kit/ pack that has both + batteries and charger. The driver is great for driving deck/ fence screws (especially larger lag bolts). I mostly just use a drill (even for decks/ fences) due to habit. A drill is WAY more versatile and does things like "drill" the impact really doesn't. Generally buy the best tools you can. Ryobi costs 1/3 the cost of the premium brands, so, I have 10+ tools for the cost of 3, as a cost analyst it makes since for my application. Hope this helps.
First corner they cut on cheap tools are the batteries, Ryobi is no exception. Need new batteries every couple or so years on old cordless Ryobi tools plus I haven't had the old blue stuff lasted more than 5 years. That's not money saved. The new Ryobi stuff including batteries are pretty good for the money though.

I used to be a cut man on carpentry team. For hevy or regular use then get corded toold. Ryobi makes good stuff
I don't understand some comments that disparage Ryobi. They were never considered to be a heavy construction grade tool. They are DYI, project specific tools that should not be compared to DeWalt, Makita, or Milwaukee, all of which are construction grade. If you're a full-time, professional carpenter, you should know that.
I'm a Kitchen and Bath contractor, I use Ryobi tools on the job and Makita at the home shop. I have used Ryobi since the blue and yellow days, still have a couple of tools that are useable. If and when the tools die I will replace with brushless but that hasn't happened yet. The 4 Amp hour batteries are great, some of mine are 8-10 years old and doing the job. I even bought my wife a Ryobi battery op lawnmower for use around her gardens- she loves it and thinks the exercise she gets pushing it around is a good thing.(I do too) I originally bought Ryobi for the price but now I see some of my co workers with the more expensive stuff having to replace tools that die and I don't see why I should spend the extra $$$ for unreliable performance. One thing I don't do is beat on tools or leave them in the wet or use dull blades or bits. Keep them clean and dry and they will last, doesn't matter what brand.
My dad’s Ryobi drill from 2009 still works but, one of the batteries has died permanently due to age in 2022. Very good tool for the price. I bought Milwaukee tools and the fuel is definitely worth the splurge if you want great tools instead of good tools.
Let’s see how those Milwaukee tools work 13 years from now.

Best thing is the new batteries work with the old tools as well. Go buy a new battery and keep using the drill.
You could have just bought a new battery and it would stilk be compatable with your old ryobi models. Part of the charm
What helped me make my decision to purchase this kit was that I already had several tools in the series, three batteries, and two chargers. It will be perfect for what I need it to do.
I just got this tool set and there not the best but for the price and the amout of tools u get. The power is perfect for homeowners diy guys u just cant beat this lil tool set imo. I love mine. They work great for my purposes
I bet if you put better blades in the saws they’ll work even better. Definitely a tool lineup, not made to be used every day on a job site. With all of the tool options that take the same battery , I think it’s a great lineup of tools. You really should be driving screws in the 1 position.

Hate to say it, good choice for a Pro who needs good quality tools but shops the budget brands because he's either new to the Trade. Or, work is hard to come by for him. Unfortunate fact of reality for some. Can't blame those individuals for not investing in better built or more powerful offerings from DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Makita. Will say that everyone I know who has decided to go with Ryobi as their one brand option for power tools.... all of them swear by Ryobi. You just don't see that level of satisfaction from the other budget brands like Bauer, or Hart. With those, price seems to be their #1 selling point. Honestly, I'm seriously considering standardizing on Ryobi myself.
I like to call Ryobi the Yamaha of tool brands....as good as a Honda, half the price.

You should have the plumber friend come on and use the tools and talk about his experience with using ryobi tools professionally.
I use my ryobi tools professionally and I have another ryobi set I keep at home. They’re a great value brand.
This kit is an old kit that they are basicly trying to get rid of. I have 40 plus Ryobi tools that I use in commercial construction, they work great and oddly, others have asked to use my Ryobi because it does preform.
My multi tool and circular saw have died, and the drill chuck fell out mid job, it still works you just have to put it back in, looking to step up to the brushless line next

I use them for roofing related jobs...most of the time it is small cuts, screws for gutters etc etc...no complaints
I can’t speak for these tools they used for demo but I do like their pressure washers and inverter generators.

Pretty sure a tech/computer guy don't know about the hammer function on a driver.
Maybe Ryobi should tense up the spring holding the hammer or change the slope on it.
I have this set, its OK for weekends around the house, somehow doesn't feel right in my hands. I much prefer the Milwaukee 12V stuff, very compact and enough power for most jobs and it feels quality. Plus I could use it all day long without being tired and fatigued like using 18V heavy tools. If I need more power on occasions I bring out the 18V Milwaukee or DeWalt but usually my go to are those compact 12V tools.
Thanks for sharing! Just got this kit as a gift last night. Would really appreciate hearing what the expert with 40 years of experience thinks about the set after taking it to the job site! I'm not sure if I should keep it or return. I've been reading/watching reviews and I'm concerned about performance & longevity.

Found that out hard way they sucked big time
i've used their products for years.one never died on me yet.and yes i do have a hilti gun and my saws all is an old beast milwauke.
These are all the brushed version of the tool. You should give their brushless variants a try. They're much better.
I have probably about 75 percent of the tools Ryobi sells, so far so good, my biggest complaint is the batteries. If you only occasionally use the tools, you have to stay on top of the batteries. For example if you have a battery sit too long with a low charge is can very easily fail when you do try to charge it. I have had a handful of my batteries fail and needless to say they can get expensive I have a few dewalt tools some over ten years old, and I still have the original batteries. Ryobi should do the same thing Dewalt does, of course batteries are the money maker for ryobi. I also have a bunch of the Ryobi 40V tools. But even with the frustration with the batteries, and still like my Ryobi products!

Probably the most common complaint I've seen out here on the 'ole interwebs about Ryobi tools is for their circular saw or their older table saw - accuracy out of the box and even with some adjustment is not good. I have an old blue color Ryobi circ saw and it's good for what it does (cross cut 2x4's and occasionally rip some plywood / OSB) - would I trust it to build furniture? Nope but with a decent blade and a fresh battery you can get some projects done.
Like so many homeowners you're somewhat "trapped" by the Ryobi system because they do offer a lot of tool and gadget choices and if there's something you are looking to buy if they don't offer it they likely will shortly so if you've bought a few batteries and a mess of tools you're pretty much "locked in" - for a pro they might change brands after a couple of years because they wear out the tools and really have to depend on them for a living.
The garage door opener (I have two) was great until they were sued by another manufacturer over their battery backup and modular design - after that the app really didn't work and the model that came out afterwards was wireless for the inside remote and had issues (though mine seems to work fine). I don't even think they still sell the garage door openers anymore.
In my experience in life, when someone says not bad it usually means not good. I use some of these tools, so I know what I'm talking about. Thanks guys.
Usually means not great but not god awful. Ryobi is good for little home projects maybe at most a deck but i wouldnt use it to build a house Or a constuction site.
I'm no "pro" here either but I've been using the "One Plus" stuff for well over a decade (most of my tools are brushed) - as each of these tools either die or I just get a wild hair I'm replacing them with Brushless HP - I'd gladly pay the full $300 for brushless version but I think there would be a higher price even above the full retail money. The batteries for both the 18v and 40v are fairly inexpensive and seem to last if you take care of them - they carry a 3 year warranty so if you have one that's not taking a charge or doesn't last that long - get it replaced while it's still covered. I probably have about 8 4Ah batteries (18v) and about 10 or 12 1.5 or 2.0Ah - I've had only two of my original smaller batteries die and they were purchased about 8 years ago so I can't complain too much. The 40v stuff is pretty good though I've had the 5Ah 40v that came with my mower bought in 2017 just die but it was very heavily used in everything from blowers to trimers to hedge trimmers. As others have said the fans (battery and hybrid) are great - the work/trouble lights are good too.

I started last year with Ryobi when I renovated my house.The oscillating and reciprocating saws both only lasted less then a few months/uses before literally burning up in my hands.The circular saw was only good for short durations or half inch plywood but drained the battery quickly.Maybe this years versions are better,but the tools I bought were cheap,but not effective.Remember the old adage,you get what you pay for.

The circular saw that I have is more than enough for DYI projects. Cuts 2x4 with no problem, believe it can cross cut even 4 x 4 with no much impact on HP 4ah batteries. Built a couple of garage shelvings with it and it barely used 1/4 of the battery. The batteries are relatively cheap and recharge quickly. So, I don't have any issues with it. I one thing that I did after buying it, replaced the stock blade by Diablo.

This ryobi kit was my starting kit. They get the job done but give out after 5 months...I was able to save enough money to upgrade to the Milwaukee set and it's all I buy now.

I have quite a few Ryobi tools for the garage and garden and have never bought a combo pack as they always put the crappiest models in them. Dewalt do the same.
My work colleague has Ryobi, I use Dewalt. He wants value for money, as do I, but Ryobi just feels 'cheaper'. He wonders why I'd spend £200 on a drill. He spends £60 but replaces it every year. I like Ryobi garden tools though.

Ryobi also makes these tools for the japanese maket which ryobiis originally from in japan under ryobi Ltd. The tools are expensive and high end just like the Panasonic tools makita japan also different. High end tools too expensive for the us market
The only problem with any battery operated products is how old and how long since it was charged in the box, how long was it sitting on the shelves... I rather see the tools and batteries sold separately...

I'm surprised you liked the circular saw. I bought the brushless version a while back and disliked it enough to return it. Power wasn't a problem but everything else about it felt really cheap. I have a bunch of older Ryobi stuff that I like so I was surprised. I ended up getting a Makita on sale for about the same price (accounting for the batteries) and it's soo much better.
Good DYI, or light contractor work, but no one is running Ryobi for SERIOUS work, let's cut the bullshit, LOL.

How have these held up?
No issues as of yet but they have not seen a ton of use either. Still need more time to make a judgement on durability. We may do a 1 year later review. @tundra guy would you be using these tools for homeowner DIY use?

@@makinlifework9345 Some of my Ryobi's go back to the blue tools. The rubber surfaces have worn off, but the tools are still chugging along. It was mostly light DYI and now I am rehabbing houses.
Ryobi makes good tools. But when you finally break down and drop the $$$ to get into their brushless line of tools, you WILL be pleasantly surprised at how well they perform!!!

All the tools in that combo set are pretty weak tools. Doubt they'll last long on the jobsite. The hp and brushless ryobi tools are much better value although they are getting fairly expensive too

@@michaelschroder6071 my stepdads brushed drill shit the gears out, sawzall died (we did absolutely kick the shit outta it tho) the impact is fine but kinda weak sometimes. Meanwhile my HP tools have put up with litteraly being incased in mud (one of the 2.0s didn't) and the drill will probably last 10 years.
I’m a plumber I would in my opinion never use those tools on my job sites, will they work sure but my Milwaukee will do the job faster and more efficient any day of the week

Brushless ryobi will do it and Milwaukee needs to stop thinking they sell gold. Kill 2 brushless ryobis and slowly move to dewalt.

The market is flooded with competitively priced power tools. Ryobi at 2/3 the price, but quite capable on the job site. Or, look at it this way...$199.00 for that many tools? You won't find that price on Makitas or DeWalts. The invoice is in the mail, why would your customer care what tools you used to complete the job?
