Any time I see these tool videos with multiple brands of cordless tools, im like "I don't care how good this tool is, im not keeping up with 2 types of batteries
I have an adapter about $20? it lets me use 20v Dewalt batteries from my weed eater in my 18v makita tools. Use it all the time, Works great.
I agree, I picked DeWalt 20v Max as my new set of battery tools when I retired the Ryobi ones. They may not be the best in every category but they rank in the top five in every one I've seen and the top in many. I have 60v Max tools and their batteries work in the 20v tools as well as extend the time to discharge. I realize that there may be better tools in certain categories but the convenience of one battery system and charger far outweighs any minor advantages some other brand might have. As for the comments about adapters, well that's just more clutter in the tool box and likely voids the warranty.
@@zzing15 They are more or less the same. A battery isn't flat 18V or 20V. Check out project farm on his battery test. They all start over 20v and drop below.
Merrick Marttinen - as I understand, 20v is actually 18v nominal or 20v Max. They all use the same cells 3.6-4v cells.
I just hate cordless in the first place
That XPS Philips bit holding the driver had my mouth hanging open.
I've literally never seen that before, and honestly, you should get paid for that shot - better than any marketing photo they could've come up with.
That tape measure is just what my old eyes need. Never occurred to me that someone might have improved upon the one I bought 25 years ago.
The Milwaukee knives are hands down the best. The 2nd gen Milwaukee nailer could've been on the list. Using it for almost 2 yrs, Im a trim carpenter. Est 70,000 1 3/4 pin nails shot with it, about 13 to 15 hundred nails on a charge 3.0 battery. Not one issue, Not even one jam. It's a beast.
Milwaukee fastback is 100% hands down the best box cutter available to humans.
I got one recently, as a victim of advertising... it's fantastic.
It’s so satisfying to flip
Agreed
I can’t go to work without mine. I got the one with the flat head and philips
The kobalt black knife is on par with the fastback
Great list! Tape measure, knife, vacuum, screw driver, radio, etc. Since you asked, though. I HAVE to have a hammer, flashlight, duct tape, Crescent wrench, Chan Nel Lock pliers, Vise Grips, wire cutters, hammer drill, recip saw, circular saw, bailing wire, pry bar, hydraulic jack, impact driver, drill driver, wrenches (metric and standard,) drill bits, wall anchors, sockets, socket wrench.... oh heck with it! I can't keep my list to only 10! 🤣🤣 Thanks, Clint, and God bless, bro! 😁👍
Haha, your the Man Dave. Can never forget that duct tape!!!!
Me again Dave I
You nailed it. The knife by Milwaukee is the single beat tool ever.
I bought the Milwaukee razor knife from home depot and it wouldn't hold the blade in place. The blade would be stuck in my work. I just get husky razor knives now.
I understand attractive-ness of folding utility knives but not the value.
(First off I absolutely hate Home Depot) but you can buy their cheapest orange model for under $3 and its a full skeletal grip so if I have to score through metal I can really wrench my hand into it and it stays set like its supposed to
and Milwaukee is my brand too
Not gonna lie I love the fastback razor knife. I'll never go back.
Thank you for not lying.
@@Labyrinth1010 shucks bro no problem. Be blessed, be productive.
I have the original fastback, not the 2.0. And I believe it is the best utility knife that money can buy
Buys myself 9 tools and my wife the number 1
I was thinking the same thing! Lol
Came here to joke on how many times you said “simply” when talking about the dewalt oscillating tool and ended up wanting to comment on how I agree that the Dremel driver is awesome and i use it all the time. I shunned the fastback knife for years due to the size but recently saw that there was a compact model, bought it and love it. I don’t have the ryobi but i have a bauer hot glue gun and i agree that that thing is HANDY. It’s also way faster than any corded glue guns i’ve ever used… and we have a bunch of industrial grade ones at the shop..
thanks for the content
Have a good one ✌🏻
My dad keeps a golf tee in his pocket at all times, you’d be amazing at the times it comes in handy. Couldn’t live without my Swiss tool(leather man).
Friggin autocorrect
My Milwaukee “ compact knife “ the bigger one strips wire but the compact one I forget it’s there so much that I reach for it when I’m not even at the job sites also a speaker! Any Bluetooth speaker!!! You would be amazed at the attitude of workers when music is playing!!!
I agree the dewalt 20v xr oscillating tool is my favorite as well been using it for way longer then the Milwaukee m12 or m18 oscillating tools
The Milwaukee fastback, is sooooo fun and awesome. Beat the crap out of it and fill it with dirt, drywall dust, wood chips…still flips open, like I was fonzy on cardboard recycling day!!!
(oh, Jesus showing my age)
It feels so painter exclusive.
For me, it's the pocket screwdriver. Great for releasing the pin detent on my impacts.
I agree with having a radio as part of a tool list. I love using my air pod pros anytime I’m working outside. They have noise cancelling which is great for cutting grass or working with power tools. And I love all my dewalt tools for electrical work never had one fail on me.
Can't live without my 20oz estwing hammer!
Yes those xps bits are all I use now. Long lasting and zero cam out
Definitely good stuff brother 👌
I just converted to all milwaukee fuel tools and I absolutely love them, but those Makita XPS bits are the shit.
I've been using their gold bits for the last 4 years and swear by 'em since they're rock solid and I've only had to buy more due to losing 'em or giving 'em to other workers but all of 'em have held up to my daily electrician abuse over the years for damn sure so I've been hesitant with trying the newer XPS versions because I'm worried Makita might've figured out they were making the gold bits too strong losing money on return customers. Lol
Makita gold bit always wins in the bit vs fastener fight.
"By unanimous decision....the #1 World Heavyweight Champion....THEEEEEEEEEEE. MILWAAAAAAAAAUKEE FASTBACK!" Ding, ding, ding!
Might not be a tool but storage is important especially portable storage. My choice for this would be the Gedore cantilever toolbox. It is well made and has a anticorrosive scratch resistant paint.
The one tool I can’t live without on the job is my leatherman. They definitely aren’t cheap but are worth it.
Great video
The button release on the milwaukee fastback HAS to be changed. It's just exactly where my hand wants to go like half the time. If they changed it so it didnt release so often, itd be incredible.
Ben Dixon agreed. It’s the worst button placement ever when scoring drywall with a tape measure guide.
The tool I cannot live with out(by the way I weld)
Angle grinder for sure
I’m a milwaukee fan boy but the ridgid products in this video really made me debate switching! They are one of the best out there but I’m more than happy with my investment into Milwaukee!
I'm watching this in 2022 and all I can say about this list 2 years later...
it's still real nass like!
Definitely real nass like! 👊👊👊
Know I’ll get some hate but I’ve have zero problems with Ryobi. Exactly what I need for the type of work I do. Have multiple old and new 2-9ah batteries and whenever I add a new tool, don’t have to buy any new batteries. Slap the same one in there and go. Can spend more money on tools and little other things that worrying about thousands of dollars on all different kinds of batteries. Especially now with Ryobi slightly stepping their game up, I was able to get a couple of their new brushless tools and man, I can’t complain.
I have the Dewalt Oscillating Tool and the Sander and the Milwaukee razor knife.
All are A+.
Which makes me tend to trust his other recommendations.
Those Makita screw-drive bits look GREAT!
The Glue gun is great
I love Milwaukee tools, but I'm afraid my coworkers will think I'm a bit fancy.
The hot glue gun is awesome!
Screw all rigid tools, and the milwaukee packout m18 wet/dry vac is absolutely amazing
Ridgid is made by milwaukee, same engineers and factories. Lol.
i love how the fastback closes just as easy as it opens
Somebody's been shopping at their local Home Depot lately...😉
That radio is awesome, I charge my dremmel on it eh eh I own about half of these items, great list, I got new things to buy now lol
Jeez, I have more than half of the tools on this list. Well done.
Awesome 👊
Dewalt cordless screwdriver with gyroscopic control. The best!
Great list. Now let me go get six different batteries and the chargers to go with them…… Nope I’ll just keep my Milwaukee collection!
While a great list I would suggest people try to find a brand they like and stick with it. Almost all these tools are made by all the big brands and will definitely save you on having to buy multiple different batteries and having multiple different chargers.
Ps. Some of these tools are often sold together in a bundle.
Cool list. Though, my go to tool, that I love most is my Japanese pull saw with 52tpi. The thing is incredible. Precise, strong, easy to use. It’s just an ideal tool.
How does a new DIY'er know what kind of pull saw to buy? Thanks
@@bennygerowJapanese ones were the best
Check out the tough built utility knives and holsters
*The only problem with the tape measure is that is only in inches*
The world's least used format of measurement
Laughs in Metric
yep, so pretty useless for 94% of the world
I'm never without my Milwaukee fastback and my booger hooks.
🤣🤣 👍👍
I already own more than half those tools. haha..... I think that glue gun is #1. Seriously, that thing is so convenient. I own two.
Glue gun is awesome, but my number 1 tool is a different Ryobi tool; the high volume inflator. That thing is just so handy, blowing out filters, dusting off saws, clearing the work bench and of course inflating mattresses, pool floats and boating/snow tubes!
i own all of them ! ,
I reckon quality locking-pliers ain’t fancy enough to make the list.
Wire cutters in jaw and can hold a hammer head to pound and pull, driver bits, sockets, blades, scrapers, holds parts and pieces in place, can grab and carry hot metal, use as a lever, leverage or a step or handle, a fist pack, bends metal…
My new favorite bits are all of the makita impact xps bits love the new makita xps mag boost as well
They are definitely awesome bits bro
Makita gold bits are awesome, my go to for last cpl years. Haven't used the xps bits but I'm excited to try 'em now.
I don’t own any Ryobi tools anymore, but that hot glue gun is worth checking out...
Great top 10 list, but there’s one tool I have to add and it’s the Makita dustless drywall cutout tool XDS1Z.
Awesome, thanks J J!
This video must be geared towards homeowners
I prefer the Milwaukee M12 Radio to the rigid. The M 12 batteries are so small and light that it keeps the radio nice and light weight. Even though it’s still able to charge a phone or even a tablet off of a small two amp hour battery end it will run the radio for hours off of that size battery. You can put a four or six amp hour in there if you like but it’s not necessary. It basically has the same feature set where it will function as a charger and has Bluetooth as well as an aux Jack. Digital tuner w/presets. It also offers a alkaline battery back up for the presets so you don’t lose them when you swap batteries. That is a nice touch.
What great information! I am totally hung up on Makita tools, but you got me with 3 of these.( Oops 4 but 8 don’t count dremel anyway). The sander, oscillating tool with that quick blade change and the vacuum. My “can’t live without” is my Dremel Ultra Saw. I bought it to cut a bunch of plexiglass. Like your choices, I’m surprised at how often I reach for it. Oh that reminds me, gotta have the screwdriver too. Will totally use than on my sewing machines. I bought a cheap one once and it didn’t work, never tried another. Just subscribed thanks so much!
I love my vintage Lufkin tape measure.
Number 8 is definitely my number 1
Husky multi tool putty knife is my top
Super!
I used the Lufkin for 2 years, great tape, if everyone else on the crew didn’t bitch about the reverse colors I’d still use it. Also have the dewalt multi, great tool, but let’s be real no oscillating tool is super quiet.
How about the 5 and 1 painter's tool???
Love the Makita Phillips bits but torque bits I go with the Milwaukee. I haven’t had one break since switching and that was 9 months ago.
Good list. I agree that having so many different mfg's batteries is a pain but it's tough to stick with just one because they each come out with cool tools that the other mfg's don't have. I've gotten used to five different batteries and chargers. Danged batteries are expensive!
Absolutely! "Danged batteries ARE expensive."
That's why, sometimes Milwaukee comes out with the better tool...but I still buy the DeWalt. "Bare tool price" always gets me, considering that I have a shelf full of DeWalt batteries.
Haha...nope...DeWalt ain't always the best. But it's always what I buy, for the very reason you so eloquently stated, brother.
I got 3 Milwaukee fastbacks. It's my edc
was mine too til i stumbled upon a craftsman assisted open. only thing that isnt as handy as my fastback is no spare blade storage. but its been my edc for over a year now.
I like the short one best
Its my work edc, for about 3 years now.
Was at the big Orange Box the other day, and to my great surprise I saw the Milwaukee Fastback in a two pack! The pack was only 14.97 (before taxes). That's about 7.50 a piece - what a deal! I would recommend people jump on that deal ASAP. Some may say that it's just a utility knife but as you have mentioned before it is so much more. My favorite cheap tools are the Big Gator Tools drill guides which are about 25.00 bucks apiece and worth every penny, and the Wood Owl Auger bits. They are super heavy duty, sharp, and cut extremely clean holes. A set of 6 only runs about 65.00 bucks.
I can't leave to work with my box cutter switch blade 😂 ❤️
Great video mate I can attest to half these tools! That radio looks sweet
Great tools 🛠
Awesome video I most definitely got my favorites and back of my truck all times
Thanks, a very good list.
man i had 2 different fastbacks . the mini or regular then i got the one that holds extra blades... butt then i stumbled upon a craftsman one that has been my daily carry for 1.2ish years now . it is a assisted open razor knife you should be able o find the one im talking about easily. also a streamlight strion is always in my pocket with it. ive been trying to keep my mini knipex on me all the time but it just makes my pockets a little too bulky.
Great video! Some very useful info here. Thanks.
Call me crazy but I find wrapping extension cords oddly satisfying.
I personally like Hultaforce Electricians knife, for opening boxes, and prying stuff off
The dremmel go was a surprise to me. I didn't think I would use this tool either I have use the second only to my impact driver.
Its actually an awesome tool. Thanks for the feedback Rodney!
agreed. I have crazy powerful (for what I need) driver and impact set and then have a right angle driver as well.
One thing I am surprised at, is how many different systems you are invested into. I’m just not able to justify owning that many different types of batteries and chargers. I can see having one small system maybe an M 12 or the Ryobi system because the batteries for it are in expensive but to own multiple 18 or 20 V upper echelon systems is very expensive so I can’t see buying into both Dewalt and Makita or Milwaukee and or rigid I would have to make a choice of one large format system and one small format system and for me it has been the Milwaukee fuel M 18 and M 12 system. I could have gone with the Dewalt or Makita and had a good experience, I have used a lot of tools for both brands in the past. But I just chose to go with Milwaukee because I really like their M 12 line and the variety of tools you can get and since the M 18 chargers will also charge the M 12 batteries it made sense to also go with their large format line as well.
I love this video. It's worth every single penny!😉
Thanks Kin!!!
Diablo bits is the way to go as far as low profile(?) PH2
I’m a subscriber and I have a suggestion, I have one thing you should know first, is that you may have already covered this subject and if so, I’m sorry because I have not seen it, so if you don’t mind please resubmit it to your loyal subscribers.
It is about portable power supplies, 120volts, 12 volts, USB that can be used off grid.
Anything that will help people in a pinch when they need 120 volts, in construction or camping without the use of a generator.
Things that one can use without a huge investment, operate from a car battery or solar panel.
This would probably help a lot of people out when then really need it and get a lot of like.
You are excellent at giving great honest reviews of tools.
Thanks,
John
It is now a very popular item and I would love for you to review a few of the best and share your results with your loyal subscribers.
That filter is exact one on my dewalt vacuum
Even how it locks in creepy
I have to say the Ryobi radio has all the same functions but mine burnt up within about a year and a half rigid is also known for its durability but I give credit for Ryobi try it I used these tools everyday I do remodel work so constant change the tools a lot of nice tools on the show but you can't own them all good find a couple groups that you're comfortable with when I work well for you I know I have mine
I think the Milwaukee m12 hackzall should be on this list
Yeah great addition for sure brother 👊👊👊
I agree, aren’t they awesomely useful? I have the original and the fuel, the fuel rocks
@@bartman59laj55 yes they are
my 3M Bluetooth worktunes was a life changer!!
Good list. I just picked up a cordless Ryobi leaf blower…which costs about the same as a Ryobi battery + charger. It’s like they just threw in the leaf blower 😆 Anyway, handy product and now I’m able to buy more cordless Ryobi products.
Hot glue gun got me, "hanging up battery chargers" yeah I'm sure you do that quite alot😂 I chose hi-koki a few years ago(2015) and I'm sticking to that because I don't want more than one battery. Can't really complain, might not be the best but the cordless driver drill have really been impressive. Built a house and renovated other, large screws and hole saws. Once I abused it until it was to hot to touch but still going strong.
Lineman pliers. And the Milwaukee fastback
I am not surprised but there is nothing new on the list that I wouled not already own a Dübel older version of. Basicly thee list for beginner‘s.😆
I have all those tools, just different brands in some cases. I totally agree with you when it comes to XPS bits and the Ryobi hot glue gun. Just wish my son would return it.
Hahaha, thanks for the comment Brent and good luck with that glue gun 👊
LOL - that 2 handed oscillator blade insert sux against 0 hand Bosch Starlock and Starlock Plus
Dewalt reciprocating saw
Best razor knife is the turbo pro hands down
Dewalt staple gun
Agree with all except #4. That’s what your drill-driver is for. Rechargeable screwdrivers are for housewives to put in their kitchen drawer. Otherwise, good list!
Any screw bits need to be magnetized cuz you're not always screwing in a downward direction.
I just magnetize screwdriving bits myself. Get a big magnet and leave them on it for an hour.
Or just get a magnet and drag the bit across it a few times always going the same direction. Old scrapped or junked microwaves have 2 excellent magnets in them.
I prefer the Lenox retractable utility knife. The handle is ergonomic and comfortable. It is so comfortable to grip. I’ve used it all day long cutting ceiling tile and my hand never tired!
I have a lenox as my spare, and to me it is obnoxiously bulky. I prefer the quick loading stanley with the same curve to the handle. of course, the best thing about BOTH is I've never had one close on my fingers.
How am I possibly alive? I don’t have any of these tools.
I've had 4 crescent tapes 2 of them are off by 3/32 framing not a big deal but finish its a problem
I loose my fastback long before it fails or it gets stolen by a co worker. Great knife.
Had me with the thumbnail
One thing I liked about this UA-cam video, I'm a film believer that a person should not be married to a name brand, do your reviews on each and every tool you buy
Well said!
The Radio! I got one in a multi-tool pack, thinking......... "I'd really rather add the angle grinder to the pack and leave this damn thing out, what a waste".
Oh contraire, that thing is out in the yard if I'm in the yard. The one that came in the pack died really quickly, had Ridgid send another one IMMEDIATELY! I've beat the shit out this one and it's still rock'n!
Yeah buddy 👊👊
You've probably never tried any bits from Wera, Whia, Pb Swiss and Vessel to name just a few that have far better fits than Makita the only nice thing about the Makita is there a lot easier to access.
