Took one for the team. My kind of guy. Lol. I'm jealous of your lathe. Looks like a older one. Back when things were made for quality and longevity. Now we live in a throw away society..
Probably could have hit up Coleman Racing for some steel spacers but I know how you like to make parts.😁 I have a Lateral Dynamics 3-link setup on my '70 and my shocks are mounted the same way. Been beating it up for a couple months now and it seems to handle it well.
@@OpossumWorks One of the more important things I had to address is the rear articulates a lot without a sway bar. I have not figured out a good place to put one yet. With a 3-link, the tire comes inward during upward articulation and hits the inner fender well. Mostly coming up into driveways, crossing the curb at an angle. Had to use a 15mm spacer. Looks like you have a splined bar but make sure you have decent inner clearance.👍
@@davecozzi9721 the rear setup uses a traditional bent sway bar. I ran it through its entire articulation using the lift and jack stands but you’re right, if I roll the lips I can space it out at least 3/4”
@@OpossumWorks Oops. Need to have my eyes checked! I'll look through some of the other videos to see how it is hooked up. I need ideas and the packaging on my car is not friendly for adding a sway bar.
I’d be curious to see how some of the other manufacturers do their hangers. Regardless, I plan to beat the crap out of it and I’ll report back if it fails.
Would it be worthwhile to make conical spacer for the outside and get a little more surface area for the nut? The rear suspension is coming together nicely.
It probably would be a good idea to make a couple more to replace the other spacers especially since the provided ones failed at a relatively pedestrian torque value. The top spacers Speed Tech provided are really nice conical pieces, not sure why they bunted on these.

Yup, that South Bend is a lifetime buy.
Wow that’s some pretty serious shit !!! Good job!!!
Thanks!

Good to know. Hopefully this setup turns out similarly durable.

Think about the forces that are going to be acting on that single shear coil over shock mount.

The spring mounts take up a lot, or most of the load on other rear suspension set ups.

Ok, done.
