Pro-Touring 73 Camaro: Quick release hub, an unnecessary addition...

- I knew I wanted to get a little more extension on the steering wheel stack up to get the driving ergonomics in a better place, plus the stock wheel was starting to get a little sticky/slimy (slicky?) like some old vinyl can. I went with an NRG short adapter hub (170H) and one of their 2.5 series quick releases. I topped it of with a modernish three spoke NRG wheel. This whole setup brings the wheel ~2.5" closer to the driver while reducing the diameter by about 1". I am really pleased with the quality of the NRG stuff where it matters though its not perfect. Unfortunately, my particular quick release did not have "the ding" that I keep hearing so much about. I also had to modify the horn connection to get the new hardware to work with the old horn button setup.
Nice video. It's interesting to see the inner workings of the steering column, especially the wheel lock mechanism.
I think whomever designed the horn mechanism at GM was overzealous.
I like the progress
If I don't want quick release can I just slap a steering wheel right on top of the adapter
