Monke!! This stream was as fun as I expected, watching the steady improvement throughout baby battle was awesome. Reading about Sun Wukong growing up and then seeing him depicted in a proper AAA video game is pretty rad too, so I definitely get the hype. There's a lot of cool lore to look through, and it's sorta like dark souls in that finishing the journals will let you draw connections between characters and understand why certain Yaoguai appear in certain places.
This was fun stream! It was so spectacular seeing this game in its highest setting. While I do play this game, only in some of the low settings. It was interesting to see some of your reactions to the moments in it. It’s gonna so neat to see you play this again.
Calli played as a monkey and in typical Mowi fashion, the following happened: Funny voice acting was heard. Calli was PRONKING everything, only now Skipa Skipa is a thing thanks to Raora. And finally a lot of deaths but again still not a souls game lol. I am impressed with how beautiful the game looks and that the details are mindblowing. And with Calli's commentary, that made watching her play be all the more fun. Overall another fun stream, nice to see that you complete d the summer plans and great that you had fun playing Wukong Calli! Great job!
Great fights, the baby was really rough, same for the snake guy. You can jump by the way, and use jump attacks. All have nice flinch, but maybe less dps since they barely combo or get upgraded. Jump square (X) - combos with triangle. Sends monkey backwards( unless triangle is pressed, or you miss) Jump triangle (Y)- Slams onto a foe. Consumes focus points and hits harder if available. Ive been convinced to get it too.
If you're interested in Journey to the West i suggest watching a series on youtube that summarizes it with little illustrations too, its by Overly Sarcastic Production and its really easy and fun to follow. I arrived late but this does not prevent me from explaining who Sun Wukong is. Wukong is the main character of the Chinese book "Journey to the west" Wukong is the basis of many anime characters or games, an example is Goku, Wukong is immortal 7 times, also the stick he has is like a relic and can be lengthened and reduced. The crown that has wukong on his head serves to limit his powers, but it was also used for the master to control him. Sun Wukong in Japanese is Son Goku, many dragon ball characters are based on the novel. Warning, spoilers of the book of Journey to the west, from now(I think there will be some mistakes for sure), Wukong ends up in paradise, but he is desperate and begins to make a massacre, the Jade emperor (the ruler of heaven) asks for help from the greatest authority, namely the Buddha who makes a challenge with Wukong, if he managed to get to the end of the universe he would have become the Buddha. Then wukong begins to travel to the pillars of the universe and then discovers that that was the hand of the Buddha and that he was dancing on his palm, then he is locked in a mountain for 500 years
For those interested: Wukong does not have multiple immortality thats a mistranslation, each one merely means he became immune to certain deaths, the book of death only stopped him from dying from fate/natural and accidental deaths, being born of stone, he is immune to conventional weapons, the peaches were redundant as he already can't die of old age and when he learned immortal arts he naturally increased his lifespan but he is not immortal just that immortal is used to described him as there is no translation for the chinese word. Second, the boss erlang is the only god to have went against heaven and won, wukong winning was a result of mistranslation and pop culture, realistically in actual myths, he would not have even went to the gates of heaven if they were serious, even in the novel, he was beaten by the pets of the very immortal in the heavenly court that he 'destroyed'. Also erlang translated to second son and he is the god of justice and truth as his third eye can see through everything in the three realms, the weapon he used is the three-point dual-edged blade, his dog called heaven howling canine/dog/mutt he is also the nephew of the jade emperor, the axe he used is called mountain splitter and was used to save his trapped mother by splitting the mountain she was under in a single strike, he also caused an eclipse by carrying a mountain till heaven gave in. He does not like heaven and thus live on earth, he also trained his own private army of unrecognised deities and guais that rival heavens army
The first wolf boss and the snake sorcerer that used the fan is guangzhi(furthering wisdom) and guangmou(furthering schemes) those are their Buddhist names, they were given those names as that was what they lacked. In the novel, they were just two young monks who told their 270yr old master the gold baby to burn wukong and his master tang monk. Wukong heard it and went to borrow the fire mantle you used to guard his masters room while he slept. Then while the fire raged wukong helped fan the wind to burn the rest of the Buddhist guanyin(buddhist goddess of mercy, children and childbirths)temple. When jinchi elder(gold baby) saw the fire and his life work burned, he ran around crying for the fire to stop and ended up dying when he hit his head on a pillar hence his head having black representing the blood he spilled. Also as the white clad and lingxuzhi lore contain spoiler, i will add next stream. The reason he wanted to kill monk and wukong is also revealed at the end of the chapter so no spoilers as well.
Wukong was beating heaven. It took Erlan himself, his dog and Nezha to fight him and they only won because Wukong's old master casted a net to trap him from behind. And after they failed to execute him Wukong tried to attack the Celestial palace again and was so unstoppable the Jade Emperor has to ask the Buddha for help.
@@JeffCJY the heavenly court wanted to full sent, however laojun said otherwise, and wukong did not challenge heaven alone, he and his fraternity of 6 other demon lords led their army to declare war on the heavens not the other way round that modern pop culture like to showcase, do keep in mind that the demon lords were eating human, this was addressed in earlier forms of the novel as there have been many iterations. While he beat nezha, it was after 30 rounds, and with erlang they went for three hundred rounds and as their marshal ability/ physical skill are close, they switched to magical skills which erlang was better at, this was also when wukongs tail was chopped off by erlang when wukong pretend to be a house, and is it not weird to u that the very same monkey king that was able to beat the gods would later lose to their pets that barely learned any skills from their masters, and that they all were essencially one-shot by their masters whom wukong supposedly beat? Also he cleared the fodder heavenly troops but he did have trouble with the gods that much is written in the novel. And if the demons on earth were so strong, why has heaven not lost control of the mortal world yet, that was always a major plot hole .

Black Myth Wukong is actually base on a web novel called Wu Kong (悟空传). The author Jin Hezai wrote this novel in 2000 and he put story in the same world as Stephen Chow's movies (A Chinese Odyssey Part I and Part II). Also this game is the sequel of a Tencent browser game called Asura (斗战神). So it's quite normal if you get confused by the story at some point coz many Chinese players who only read The Journey To The West can't understand the full story either.
Liked the black myth wukong vids u should check out steller blade and rise of the ronin. Both action hack and slash games that are amazing in my opinion. Many people overlook both one because its a female character that's slender and think that's all there is too the game and the other think its just another hack amd slash Japanese game or a ghost of tsushima rip.
-90% immersiveness. The CN Wukong is voiced by the most iconic, most original Wukong voice actor from the drama 1986. You would be able to experience the culture to 100% even if u don't understand Chinese, but EN dub? Nah it just doesn't do it, far from it. But i understand this is EN channel and majority EN viewers so i guess it's what it is, but i think she totally ignored many people who asked her to change to CN voice?
A lot of us would probably be playing in Chinese if the devs thought about making the subtitles actually readable. I legit have never in my life experienced such pathetically small subs. In this day and age, and with how many options there are in the menus, it absolutely baffles me that they don't have customizable subtitles. I was planning on playing with original Chinese and I saw another streamer have to make it English because they could barely read it. Not only that, they never subtitled what the regular enemies were saying, so you can't understand the little things they were talking about unless you actually speak Chinese. They pretty much force the rest of us to play in English.

I arrived late but this does not prevent me from explaining who Sun Wukong is.
Wukong is the main character of the Chinese book "Journey to the west" Wukong is the basis of many anime characters or games, an example is Goku, Wukong is immortal 7 times, also the stick he has is like a relic and can be lengthened and reduced.
The crown that has wukong on his head serves to limit his powers, but it was also used for the master to control him. Sun Wukong in Japanese is Son Goku, many dragon ball characters are based on the novel.
Warning, spoilers of the book of Journey to the west, from now(I think there will be some mistakes for sure), Wukong ends up in paradise, but he is desperate and begins to make a massacre, the Jade emperor (the ruler of heaven) asks for help from the greatest authority, namely the Buddha who makes a challenge with Wukong, if he managed to get to the end of the universe he would have become the Buddha. Then wukong begins to travel to the pillars of the universe and then discovers that that was the hand of the Buddha and that he was dancing on his palm, then he is locked in a mountain for 500 years
At btw there is also a series if you don't want to read 1400 pages

Wukong does not have multiple immortality thats a mistranslation, each one merely means he became immune to certain deaths, the book of death only stopped him from dying from fate/natural and accidental deaths, being born of stone, he is immune to conventional weapons, the peaches were redundant as he already can't die of old age and when he learned immortal arts he naturally increased his lifespan but he is not immortal just that immortal is used to described him as there is no translation for the chinese word.
Second, the boss erlang is the only god to have went against heaven and won, wukong winning was a result of mistranslation and pop culture, realistically in actual myths, he would not have even went to the gates of heaven if they were serious, even in the novel, he was beaten by the pets of the very immortal in the heavenly court that he 'destroyed'.
Also erlang translated to second son and he is the god of justice and truth as his third eye can see through everything in the three realms, the weapon he used is the three-point dual-edged blade, his dog called heaven howling canine/dog/mutt he is also the nephew of the jade emperor, the axe he used is called mountain splitter and was used to save his trapped mother by splitting the mountain she was under in a single strike, he also caused an eclipse by carrying a mountain till heaven gave in. He does not like heaven and thus live on earth, he also trained his own private army of unrecognised deities and guais that rival heavens army
The pronunciation for yaoguai goes as (yah-ow)+(guh-ai) ai ends on a fast and harsh tone. Ai being the ai used to mean love in Japanese
The first wolf boss and the snake sorcerer that used the fan is guangzhi(furthering wisdom) and guangmou(furthering schemes) those are their Buddhist names, they were given those names as that was what they lacked. In the novel, they were just two young monks who told their 270yr old master the gold baby to burn wukong and his master tang monk. Wukong heard it and went to borrow the fire mantle you used to guard his masters room while he slept. Then while the fire raged wukong helped fan the wind to burn the rest of the Buddhist guanyin(buddhist goddess of mercy, children and childbirths)temple. When jinchi elder(gold baby) saw the fire and his life work burned, he ran around crying for the fire to stop and ended up dying when he hit his head on a pillar hence his head having black representing the blood he spilled. Also as the white clad and lingxuzhi lore contain spoiler, i will add next stream. The reason he wanted to kill monk and wukong is also revealed at the end of the chapter so no spoilers as well.

Wukong was beating heaven. It took Erlan himself, his dog and Nezha to fight him and they only won because Wukong's old master casted a net to trap him from behind. And after they failed to execute him Wukong tried to attack the Celestial palace again and was so unstoppable the Jade Emperor has to ask the Buddha for help.
@@JeffCJY the heavenly court wanted to full sent, however laojun said otherwise, and wukong did not challenge heaven alone, he and his fraternity of 6 other demon lords led their army to declare war on the heavens not the other way round that modern pop culture like to showcase, do keep in mind that the demon lords were eating human, this was addressed in earlier forms of the novel as there have been many iterations. While he beat nezha, it was after 30 rounds, and with erlang they went for three hundred rounds and as their marshal ability/ physical skill are close, they switched to magical skills which erlang was better at, this was also when wukongs tail was chopped off by erlang when wukong pretend to be a house, and is it not weird to u that the very same monkey king that was able to beat the gods would later lose to their pets that barely learned any skills from their masters, and that they all were essencially one-shot by their masters whom wukong supposedly beat? Also he cleared the fodder heavenly troops but he did have trouble with the gods that much is written in the novel. And if the demons on earth were so strong, why has heaven not lost control of the mortal world yet, that was always a major plot hole .

Black Myth Wukong is actually base on a web novel called Wu Kong (悟空传). The author Jin Hezai wrote this novel in 2000 and he put story in the same world as Stephen Chow's movies (A Chinese Odyssey Part I and Part II). Also this game is the sequel of a Tencent browser game called Asura (斗战神). So it's quite normal if you get confused by the story at some point coz many Chinese players who only read The Journey To The West can't understand the full story either.

Liked the black myth wukong vids u should check out steller blade and rise of the ronin. Both action hack and slash games that are amazing in my opinion. Many people overlook both one because its a female character that's slender and think that's all there is too the game and the other think its just another hack amd slash Japanese game or a ghost of tsushima rip.

-90% immersiveness. The CN Wukong is voiced by the most iconic, most original Wukong voice actor from the drama 1986. You would be able to experience the culture to 100% even if u don't understand Chinese, but EN dub? Nah it just doesn't do it, far from it. But i understand this is EN channel and majority EN viewers so i guess it's what it is, but i think she totally ignored many people who asked her to change to CN voice?
A lot of us would probably be playing in Chinese if the devs thought about making the subtitles actually readable. I legit have never in my life experienced such pathetically small subs. In this day and age, and with how many options there are in the menus, it absolutely baffles me that they don't have customizable subtitles.
I was planning on playing with original Chinese and I saw another streamer have to make it English because they could barely read it. Not only that, they never subtitled what the regular enemies were saying, so you can't understand the little things they were talking about unless you actually speak Chinese. They pretty much force the rest of us to play in English.
